Startum Ironwolf and friends have traveled the Nordic Region, saved their friends, and returned to drive away the Hobgoblin invaders threatening their home. Not only that, they were able to destroy the Flying Serpents that appeared out of nowhere to raze BrokenFang Hold. That, he learns, happened because of the Doombreath Clan's curse that was laid on him.
Sadly, those were only the beginning of Star's problems. Besides rebuilding his destroyed fortress, he must keep his promise to Queen Isolde, or he could very well lose his Overlord title. If coming up with a way to repel the overwhelming Hordes of Orcs currently razing the Kingdom of Kader is not enough of a challenge, he's also received an email informing him that the troupe Dark Star Rising has been taken as slaves by a faraway race.
The problems continue to escalate from there. Somehow, Star must figure out a way to deal with these numerous emergencies all at once. Not only that, he needs to quickly rebuild his forces and reserves before a new emergency can appear on the horizon.

I first want to say I am appreciative of the author continuing the series when many others have stalled with years between releases. I enjoy the blend of the real world strategy on building a stream and those relationships with the in game adventures. As the story has progressed it’s getting more difficult to read as the story feels like it moves so slowly. Pages upon pages of an ex girlfriend, relationship issues in game and out of game. It’s unfortunately a bit boring and hard to read and I find myself skimming pages as the high points are interesting and the rest just seems like overly detailed filler that doesn’t progress the story. The original books had much more detail with battle strategy and fight scenes and negative details / level up character building. I want to stay with the series but it would need to get back to the beginning books where the story line moved quickly.
Spoiler alert - this book basically said - we finished an attack, are rebuilding, set up some portals and built a plan to retake the Isolde line, built a teleporter and had two small skirmishes from a mage clan. And all my guild mates like to talk crap to each other.
I don’t wrote this to be mean or harsh, it’s just a reality that there are a lot of great series to choose to read and I only have so many hours to dedicate to light reading. I read this and feel like I wasted my time reading it as the cliffs notes version would have been sufficient.
If you like the previous books in the series, you're going to like this one. If you didn't like the previous books there isn't going to be any change. The only complaint I have with these books is they seem very short but since I'm reading them for Freon Kendall unlimited I really don't care. There's plenty of action in this. Some plot points that I've long anticipated happening finally kick over. Some other decent plants are brought to the four. I can't really tell you anything else without ruining the plot for you. I hope this helps somewhat. I apologize for any spying ears. I'm writing this review with voice to text
I know Jason mentions how he has to shorten his books to get more profit. I respect that, but if we're getting shorter books, skip a lot of the introspection and history. The entire part of Star's apartment could have been condensed. By the time the end came and I was getting into it, the book was over. Make the story flow better for the new format. That being said, the parts I enjoyed, I loved. Really excited to see this new part of the world, if we ever get to it
Another great book from The World series. I eagerly await every new book released from Jason Cheek. The depth of his characters and world building in all his books keep me entertained and engaged. In this book, Startum Ironwolf builds up his base and his wartime reserves to fight the orks, while planning a few surprises for his enemies.
Needs proof reading. Introduces new areas of the world. Sets the stage for the next story arc. Action scenes really well written, introspection on relationships was tedious.
This is just another fun and exciting book that Jason has put out for us to enjoy! I can’t wait for the next one. There is always something coming around the corner to look forward to! Start at book 1 of you haven’t yet!
Well, at least I was smart enough to not open the book when I downloaded it last night. I started it during my lunch break and here I am an hour after work, still sitting at my desk just finishing it up. Loved it!
It was another enjoyable installment but I felt like it was shorter this time for some reason. Oh well I still enjoyed it all and I look forward to the next one.
This story is great because it is genuine. Characters with real personalities in believable game world situations . Also Dom needs to quit acting like a whiney bitch.
This is a wonderful way to start a new arc by tying up previous threads at the same time. Such a great series with deep character development and an amazing MC.
