This is an absolutely beautiful debut, bursting with so much emotion right from the start.

The main character, Ethan, is thrust into an unfamiliar world that pushes him to gradually confront his life choices. He navigates loss, heartbreak, grief, personal insecurities and unexpected situations in a wholesome and genuine way. His journey was immensely satisfying and deeply relatable. At least to me.

The love interest, Adam, was a total sweetheart. Supportive, understanding and yet, determined to work for their relationship. He has his moments of self-doubt, but he never surrenders in the face of despair and seemingly impossible circumstances.

I think what I love most about the book is that it's never too dramatic or too syrupy. It's just the right amount of everything, balancing sensitive topics and emotional interior monologues that show immense personal growth with light-hearted moments and glimpses into a tight-knit friend group where everyone feels safe and protected.

The book's magical element was cleverly inserted in the story, and I think the resolution was perfect. The main characters' relationship comes full circle and I absolutely loved that! I also think the amnesia trope worked so well here, it's literally the catalyst that brings everything and everyone together.

I wouldn't necessarily classify this book as a romance, I think Ethan's journey towards healing and realising his worth is actually the main focus, which I love so much. One of my favourite moments in the book is Ethan mending his relationship with his father.

Full disclosure, the author is a dear friend of mine. And while I might have been generous with my rating, I've been nothing but brutally honest with Nick when giving my feedback after reading the book.

To sum it all up, I loved it! And I can't wait to read his next book.

We all need a second chance, or maybe even to explore the paths that never happened.

Remembering You is the debut novel by Nick Williams … Nick’s insightful premise where Ethan has a second life, a second chance at learning who he really is. Ethan is in a broken relationship with John. Everyone around Ethan sees how broken it is. Eventually Ethan wishes for a hallmarkesque life, and the next day he wakes up to a life with Adam. Adam is the green eyed, red headed leading man that Ethan doesn’t think he deserves.

I devoured this gem of a book in a weekend. Highly recommend it.

marvellous fun. I appreciate a book that plays with genre and trope while still staying faithful to the original story. This was a great project!

Nick Williams is a good storyteller. This MM romance is very enjoyable and really hits on the insecurities that young gay men can feel and the family challenges they face.

Unfortunately, as the book is self-published, it contains many errors in spelling, grammar, and sentence structure and could benefit from professional proofreading and editing. The story is so good that it deserves a wider audience than it is probably getting.

This refreshing debut was everything I needed at the moment.

I am very much like Ethan in this book, or at least I was. Without spoiling too much, Ethan is in a toxic relationship and has anxiety, depression, and probably a multitude of other mental illnesses. (Same.) But one day, he miraculously wakes up to a perfect version of his life, with the perfect boyfriend. After navigating this new life for a week, he has to decide whether to change for the better or keep letting life defeat him over and over.

I feel like I related to Ethan in this regard because I was in a toxic relationship with myself, and even though my boyfriend at the time wasn't abusive, he still wasn't a good boyfriend. I was lost in the world, and it took me finding my current boyfriend (soon-to-be fiancé) to truly appreciate myself and believe I deserved better in my life.

This book was incredibly heartfelt and made me cry a few times, especially during moments with Ethan's parents and between Ethan and Adam. The author does a really good job at characterization and it's easy to distinguish characters in the friend group, a task other romance authors find difficult. I enjoyed everybody's chemistry together, they really felt like lived-in characters with their own personalities, and not just tropey gay friends. This is why it's so important for gay people to write their own stories, for the authenticity.

Speaking of authenticity, I loved Ethan's relationship with his mom. I am also a mama's boy, and seeing someone love their queer child unapologetically is very cathartic. She doesn't just play the perfect mom; they acknowledge her mistakes as a human being, and it's nice seeing a relationship that Ethan could always rely on,

The only critique I have is that there were still some spelling/grammatical errors that (as a grammar freak) took me out of the story for half a second every time I came across one. THAT BEING SAID, this is an indie, self-published release, and the author works full-time at a 9-to-5. He did everything with his own money, sweat, blood, and tears, and that is a feat in and of itself, and we should applaud that. Writing a book is HARD. I don't fault that too much, overall, since he doesn't have any money (or time) for editors. The story is still fantastic, and that's what truly matters. I just wanted to speak candidly since the author appreciates honesty, and hopefully I can help with editing (if he lets me) for his second novel. I am disappointed this book is self-published and independent. It should be on retail shelves at Barnes & Noble or your favorite indie bookstore. Period.

For transparency's sake, I should add that even though Nick is an online friend of mine, I did not rate this highly because of that. We should support queer and indie authors as much as we can, but not just because they're queer or indie authors. If a story is good, it is good. And this story is good. It's unique, it's fresh, and it's what the romance genre is missing. Authenticity and reliability and a genuine love story.

I am so proud of Nick, and I cannot wait to read his next book. 4.75/5 stars. <3

“Remembering You” by Nick Williams, is a novel that surprised me with how tender, emotional and quietly powerful it is. It is one of those stories that takes a high-concept premise and uses it to explore something much deeper, self-worth, healing, and what it really means to be loved the right way.

We follow Ethan, who wakes up one morning in a stranger’s bed only to discover that the last five years of his life never happened. And that “stranger” is Adam, a gentle and brilliant almost-professor who insists they are in a loving relationship. What unfolds is a journey through two versions of Ethan’s life, the one he remembers, marked by emotional manipulation and a toxic partner, and the one he suddenly finds himself living in, full of tenderness, safety and a version of himself he barely recognises.

One of the things that moved me the most was how the book portrays self-worth. Ethan’s struggle to believe he deserves love, care and softness felt incredibly familiar. His relationship with his parents, especially the complicated mix of love, expectations, distance and longing, reminded me so much of my own experiences. It made complete sense that someone raised like that would struggle to recognise healthy love when he finally found it.

And then there is Adam. Patient, loving, grounded, the kind of character who does not need grand gestures to make you fall for him, just quiet consistency and warmth, and that feeling of “you are safe here”. He has officially become my new literary crush. Every time he appeared on the page the whole book seemed to breathe differently.

“Remembering You” is emotional without being melodramatic, romantic without losing its honesty, and heartfelt in a way that stays with you after you finish. It genuinely moved me, and I keep thinking about Ethan long after closing the book, about how hard it is to unlearn old wounds, and how beautiful it can be to finally let yourself be loved properly.

If you are looking for a queer romance with emotional depth, gentle healing and a lot of heart, this novel deserves a place on your reading list.

4.5! This was cute! Likable characters (one of whom is dreading approaching 30, much like me this year 😭) and a cute ending, if a little predictable.

Like a few others mentioned, there are some grammatical errors that took me out of the moment at times but they’re very rare, and this is a self published book, so who cares! The heart of the story comes through beautifully. It does require you to suspend your belief a little bit with how it ends, but again, it’s more about the themes of the book and Ethan’s growth as a person.

If you’re looking for an easy to read and charming MM romance about self love, familial relationships, and finding true happiness, this is for you. Very impressed with Nick’s storytelling and this is a great debut novel.

I don’t post on Goodreads ever cuz…there are SOO many better platforms and I could post so much more but… the book community NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!

Remembering You was the absolute perfect way to end the year…not just a story but honestly a journey!!! It’s like a little rom-com/queer Hallmark movie!!! This book starts as life weighed down by love that hurts, a job that drains, and grief that seems to never leave. But then it blossoms into something that feels like a dream!
Ethan’s life with his current boyfriend John, started out charming, but is currently DEEPLY FLAWED! He is borderline abusive, unfaithful, and drowning in alcoholism. Ethan was in love..but wasn’t happy. Anyone in this situation knows that sometimes love is like that..and hooks deep. Then, in a twist that gives 13 Going on 30 vibes, Ethan wakes up in a life that isn’t his…but perfect! His mom is alive, his job doesn’t suck, and his boyfriend…a Hot Red Head cutie named Adam…who he apparently has been dating for 5 years, not that he remembers any of it. He is literally perfect for Ethan…and did I mention hot…
However, what I loved about the book is that Ethan could have easily settled into the perfect world…but he doesn’t. The story doesn’t romanticize perfection. Instead, it unpacks the messy, beautiful, and complicated journey of discovering self-worth and love, especially when you never thought you deserved it. We get a story that explores the Emotional complexity of loving someone familiar, even when that love hurts, and the bittersweet clarity that can come from seeing what a life could be if you learn to love yourself.

I absolutely loved this book. If you love an easy rom-com queer book! OR even a story with a HOT red head..(he’s basically Cameron Monaghan in my head) Grab it now!!! I cannot believe this isn’t flying off the shelf. Vibes is 10/10

I was NOT prepared for the emotional toll this book had on me!
I cried so much that my eyes have been stinging, and I’m pretty sure it’s caused some severe dehydration.

Ethan’s journey is heartbreaking. You feel each of his losses as if it were your own, and you can’t help but fall in love with Adam and sympathise with what he’s going through as well.

The character development in this book is so good. The deep sense of complete and utter love Adam has for Ethan is evident, and it helps Ethan realise that the life he has been living with John is not what he deserves.

I love how Ethan changes his whole life in one moment. Using the courage that Adam gave him to turn his life around.

I just can’t recommend this book enough. Though be warned, if you’re anything like me, you will need a box of tissues, and someone to cuddle the pain away
