It is ten years since the events of Worrier Princess, Errant Page. Emma and Podevin find their peaceful lives torn apart by political intrigue, revenge and selfish ambition of those around them. Can they survive? Can their friendship weather the storms they encounter?
Oakley once again provide a vibrant, well research, believable world for his relatable characters to live in this page-turning second instalment of The Premyslid Chronicles. What I particularly liked this time around is how the relationship between Podevin and Emma matures and how none of the characters are two-dimensional. A great read for historical buffs. He makes good use of minor characters from book 1 coming into their own here.
If you like Bernard Cornwell and C F Dunn this is the series for you.
