Shy Girl x Taken x Tender is the Flesh x The Final Scene but make it gothic with a splash of sexy = my first 5 star of 2026!

jaw was in hell for the majority of this book as I read it in one sitting. I held it for like an hour before going to the bathroom 'cause I couldnt peel my eyeballs from these pages.

Mique, I will forever be in awe of you and your fucked up brain ♡

I'm going to start this by saying that I've read all of Mique Watson's books. Even the ones he wrote for anthologies. So I went into this new one completely blind.

We meet Erin who was taken and thrown into a world of debauchery. She ends up down a dangerous path but as she's learning the ropes of her new lifestyle, she quickly realizes that things aren't exactly as they seem and she doesn't know who she can trust.

Just when I thought that this book isn't as bad as Mique's other stuff or that it's not as extreme or gross as I expected...um...yeah I was wrong. The things someone does for survival. I kept thinking to myself, nope, there is no way but at the same time, I've never had to deal with this sort of situation. So who actually knows how they'd react or what they would do given the circumstances. I'd like to think I'm strong and would also do anything to survive but I'm not actually sure.

I have to say that as someone with a uterus, one of the last scenes....holy crap on a cracker. What a way to go. It reminded me of Art from the Terrifier movies and what he liked to do to his victims. Wow. Mique, you upped your game with this one. I'm going to think of this scene every time I go for a physical now.

The ending of this book was NOT what I was expecting at all but like I've said many times in previous reviews for other books, Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Like always, I suggest going into this book completely blind. It's more fun that way. But I will tell you that if you like cult horror or anything remotely having to do with cults, then this may be for you. While this book isn't as gory as some of Mique's other work, it's definitely just as gruesome.

𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞. 𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐡. 𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐞 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝. 𝐀 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐝.

With all the vengeance and tragedy of the Medusa myth, the author's latest offering shows a deepening maturity in both prose and character development. The atrocities and violence are still present, but they're woven into the story in a way that makes the reader engaged in a manner that's up close and uncomfortable.

Erin Shepherd has lost her mother, and she's fled her home, sure that she's run far away from her monster of a stepfather. She didn't know that the world is populated with monsters, and they have a way of disguising themselves as friendly strangers offering someone a hand. After accepting a ride from a kindly stranger, she wakes up in a cage, unaware of the nightmare she is about to endure. Erin's will to survive is a strong one, and as she began to chant her last name like a mantra, something in me broke. There are too many like Erin who have never known a gentle touch, only a raised fist.

This book is filled with the worst kind of religious trauma, and I don't want to say too much for fear of spoilers. It's also filled with morally repugnant characters that you fervently pray will gaze upon the head of the Gorgon if only for a moment. Please mind the numerous triggers which the author discloses to the reader. Many thanks to the author for an early copy to review. The paperback is available now, but the official pub date is November 29, 2025.

Her whole life, Erin Shepherd has known nothing but pain. She decides to finally escape the hell she lives in to better her life. Anywhere is better than home...or so she thinks. When she meets a nice truck driver who offers her kindness and help, she doesn't refuse. Nothing is worse than home. Right? ....

Erin soon realizes that this is just the beginning of a new hell for her. This truck driver serves a bigger, darker purpose. And he set his eyes on Erin to be his vessel. Erin will be the key that opens a new and better world for them all. To prep Erin, she is shown debauchery, sex, and pain. Will she escape? Or will she bring a new evil to life. The Sixth Hour is upon us!

What a deliciously, sinful read! The visuals in this story were so good! You really feel like you're in hell with this read! Erin is a broken character and you root for her until the very end. The twist in this was so so good! Ren is my new favourite gal. Another great read from Watson you don't want to miss out on!

This one was dark. Like really dark. Erin is kidnapped by a satanic cult and taken somewhere where women are kept as “pets”, treated like animals and less than human. It’s uncomfortable and brutal at times because of how cruel the cult are. But Erin’s strength through everything she’s put through is what makes the story. You can feel her anger simmering under the surface the whole time, and when it finally erupts it’s honestly so satisfying to read.

Thank you Mique for sending me a copy to review :)

Mique you done did it again. Every time. This one fucked me up yet again. I only recommend if you like extreme horror. It’s not for the vain of heart. If you have any tigger warnings make sure to read all of them before you go in Willy Nilly.

Culty, sacrificial, revenge horror. This feels like a new adventure with Mique, focusing on more of a religious horror, but it still is depraved and hard to put down as always. This is amazing!

The Sixth Hour - Mique Watson

If you’ve ever read any of Mique’s work before you should already know what you are in for. 🫦

I don’t want to give to much away but this one is brutal, the horrors these women endure is unfathomable. Physical and mental torture under the guise of a higher power with their only goal being survival. The ending is deliciously satisfying to say the least 😍

Then there’s Ren. Sweet mercy. She scared me, turned me on and made me want to both kneel and run. One of the baddest bitches to ever grace a page. 💅

I never thought I’d be turned on by 4 woman having ritualistic sex but here we are. Forming an unbreakable bond of trust between them. 🥹
