He found her. What will that mean for Thea Fera, who’s been running from her stalker for over a year? And what will it mean for her newfound mates? With her first-ever heat approaching, a complicated one at that, will she be able to make it through in one piece?
She won’t run again; she’s standing her ground and trusting those around her to help her fight this battle. Determined to keep her promise to her late alpha, Connor, she won’t let the stalker win. He won’t take anyone else from her.
Thea’s seven mates are determined to protect her from her complicated heat, a stalker, from everything that would cause her harm. Little by little, her shattered heart is pieced back together with the help of her scent matches. Still haunted by her grief, can Thea learn to move forward as her world continues to shift beneath her?
⭐️ 4.5/5 overall for the duet 🌶️ 2.5-3/5 (2 for book 1, 3 for book 2)
Light spoilers ahead.
I wasn’t expecting this lol but in the best ways. Look, I’m a crybaby when it comes to books when they’re emotional. It took me months of talking myself into reading Broken Bonds. If I had researched this duet, it probably would have ended up being the same way for me. But I’m SO glad I had jumped into this duet blind (that’s rare for me as a mood reader.)
The emotions and the angst. My wee little heart broke for Thea over and over again - mostly in the first book. I loved these guys - well except Micah. He just didn’t really redeem himself fast enough for me so when he finally does I’m just like “oh it’s him.” His relationship with her was backseated.
I don’t have a favorite MMC. Why choose, amiright? There were moments where one would outshine the others but then it would rotate and the next would - again except for Micah hahah. It wasn’t that he was horrible. Okay, in the first book he was but in the second, he just seemed so in the background. There was no shining from him for me. Don’t get me wrong I liked him a bit at the end but it was a sliver before the book ended.
I’m not typically a slow burn / low heat reader. I like high heat and obsession, maybe not immediately but not at a granny’s pace.🤣 But every now and then I’ll come across a book, or a duet like this, where those things don’t really matter and the story makes up for it. Are there things I would have liked differently? Yes (mentioned below). But did I also absolutely love this duet more than I thought I would? Absolutely. It was such a good read that I devoured in a little over a day haha.
Now to the things that knocked a star down for me in the second book. These are just my personal feelings. - I wish there were “Before” scenes still in the second book. I feel like I really connected with Connor in the first book and that connection felt hazy in the second book. I get why with the personal growth for the MC’s but still. Although, the epilogue made up mostly for this. More elements like in the epilogue throughout the book would have been really cool imo! - The heat disappointed me a bit. But not in the sense you’re probably thinking. We have first times with Connor, Keelan, and Parker in book one. In book two, we don’t get anything until the start of the heat, and that’s when we get Jake’s first time. So that’s three living pack members up to the heat point from both books. Just for right after Jake’s scene, in Ben’s POV, it states “she’s had us all, except Micah.” I get we get their fourth or whatever times after but.. We want Ben’s, Liam’s and Eli’s first times with her too. Not glossed over. If they had already been together before this, I truly wouldn’t have cared. But it’s a bit disappointing to not have that experience when we got it from less than half the pack. Same goes for group scenes. The first group scenes are glossed over in the heat and then we get one. - The only time with Micah was a DVP at the end of the book. (Besides his minimal touch during her heat). He was so overshadowed imo. So much potential for his character, and wasn’t reached.
Overall though, I really really enjoyed this duet. It was a pleasant surprise read for me and this debut author did a fantastic job overall. 🖤😊
I really hope to see a book for Taz’s pack. I know Julian’s is coming up but I feel more connected with Taz and his pack and hope there’s a story for them.🤞
A couple favorite quotes (I was so engrossed in the story I forgot to save some haha!)
“My sunshine, my mate, my universe.” 🥹🖤
She’s filling up every dark nook in my soul with her own.😩🫶🏼
Thea had quite the journey after losing her Alpha, Connor. But finding her scent matches with a pack whilst on the run from her stalker was not what she expected to happen.
She spent her time slowly warming up to the idea of letting them in & accepting mate bonds when her stalker made himself known again.
In this book, we see her come to terms with him finding her again. Whilst also coming to terms with her mates & her impending heat.
When the unthinkable happens, she and her mates have to move quickly to help Thea.
And when she is saved, recovery is hard. Despite finally being free from her stalker, she still has to recover from the trauma. Thankfully her mates are there every step of the way.
I loved that they got the happiness they finally deserved & that epilogue was kinda funny.
I read omegaverse like it’s going out of style, and THIS omegaverse…. Wow.
At first I was very nervous that there were too many members of the pack. Can’t swing a cat without hitting one of these guys in town, but somehow they were all given good page time and enough personality and backstory to make them identifiable and no one guy was oversaturated.
This book contained all of the elements of some darker books that I love, and this was the first one I’ve read where there was a broken but unfinished bond. Gosh I cried my eyes out several times. Connor and his parents were so lovely and I needed that for her. Her guilt about staying at her job was so real and the grief was so deep that I couldn’t help but feel that soul deep ache. I think I felt the broken bond so much because I read so much OV that I knew just how catastrophic of a pain it was.
But also, that epilogue? That was the most healing, heartwarming, perfect epilogue ever. I feel like every book has an epilogue in it lately, but the whole point of an epilogue is that it is supposed to be an ending that adds to the story but isn’t necessarily needed. The book did a beautiful job of wrapping everything up before the end, and the. Just gave us a little hug on the way out the door.
By far one of my favorite OVs I’ve ever read. Bravo.

micah you are no longer on the list, i wish he bettered himself way earlier on but with what we saw im content and happy with his development, but also loved seeing him be clingy (deserved to see more of that). i’m also glad we got to see more of the guys that we saw less of in book one. this book truly had be crying sm but that epilogue had me SOBBING. i know thea is older than me but god when she was taken that was my baby, no but like all of them are though. writing this down as another book i wont be able to get out of my head for a while

What a great duet from this debut author. By all means girl, go off. So good, the characters, the plot, everything was so good. I loved the ending, it was fantastic, and you will only know what I’m talking about if you read this duet. Told in multiple pov, this is such a great read, very well structured, and never once did it feel like the story was dragged out.
