Gravity Decoupling Paradox

Rate this book

Dr. Garth Erickson, a 62-year-old engineering metallurgist, makes a potentially revolutionary gravity, like magnetism, might be manipulated through materials engineering and quantum mechanical restructuring of matter.

After 47 failed attempts, he observes a tiny (0.0002%) weight reduction in a specialized alloy under specific cryogenic temperatures and rotation of a superconducting disk.

In quantum field theory, gravity (like all forces) arises from particle exchange .. gravitons in this case. The gravitational coupling strength depends on how matter generates and absorbs virtual gravitons, which depends on the quantum state of the matter.

In a macroscopic quantum coherent state, the material becomes a unified quantum system that couples differently to the gravitational field because its quantum vacuum interactions are modified. It's analogous to the Casimir effect, but for gravity instead of electromagnetism.
