Rate this book
A new adult urban romantasy with witch x witch hunter, he knows who she is, she thinks he's just a clueless human, she's in her assassin era, he's in his spy era, she rides a dragon, and he's afraid of heights. Hollow Sacrifices is the second installment in the Order of the Hawk trilogy, and is for the fans of The Crimson Moth and The Discovery of Witches.

She is the darkness who stands for the light.
Two years after the March on the Massachusetts Community, Talliana Hoffman is not the same young healer she was. She is a weapon poised to strike—an assassin of the Order. Knowing she is destined to end the war, Talliana must learn how to control the darkness that threatens to swallow her whole at every turn. With college classes, family pressures, and new abilities that she must keep hidden, she cannot afford any distractions. Especially not one with a smile as warm as the sun. Too bad self-control has never been her strong suit.
He is the light who stands for the darkness.
Caspian Campbell has been raised to do one kill any witch that comes across his path. However, if the Brethren want to win this war, they must change tactics. His mission is to capture a witch's heart and make her tell him everything. Not just any witch, but the Order’s very own assassin who is responsible for ending so many lives. But when Caspian realizes she is nothing like he thought, he finds himself fighting a different war—one between love and loyalty.

Hollow sacrifices was the perfect continuation story to Book 1 of this wonderful series. It not only continued on brilliantly but established an entire character arc for the FMC navigating grief, emotional shutdown and the balance between maintaining relationships and healing alone. This story was one of the rare ones where I enjoyed it more than the first book (which i didn’t think was possible) due to the many explanations and links to Book 1 while also opening more questions to be answered in book 3. I enjoyed guessing and being wrong which highlights the predictability that seems to plague many fantasy stories, not being present in this original series. After finishing book 2, I am even more eager for Book 3. Thank you for such a pleasure of a read and for allowing me the honour of ARC reading these.

Wow wow wow!! I devoured this book. I felt like I was riding along with Tallie and Covie throughout the whole book as they accepted their fate in the war their community was facing. The heartbreak, love and growth in this book was written in such a tender and real way that I felt like these characters were my real life friends and I was experiencing every emotion with them. There were parts of the characters’ journeys in this book that were so frustrating I wanted to shake them and tell them to just be honest with each other and not doom themselves from lies, but I also completely understood why they were taking the path they were. This is not a series you want to sleep on and I wish I could have book 3 in my hands now.

Overall Thoughts
This is a fantastic follow-up to Blind Thoughts and was to me an even stronger instalment in the series. Everything feels more confident, more emotionally grounded, and higher in stakes. I’m really invested in where this story will go!

Character Development
The growth in Talli’s character is a standout, particularly her journey with grief adds real strength to the story. Her relationships continue to be highlights, not just with Cas but across different members of her community.

Final Thoughts
It feels like the story is opening up in exciting ways.
I’m super excited to see how the series wraps up - hopefully it’s not too long a wait!

C.L. Sharp did it again! I loved Blind Thoughts but oh my gosh Hollow Sacrifices had taken over for me! Everything about this book was amazing. The plot, the spice, the anticipation has you hooked the entire time!

If you are a fan of Fourth Wing, ACOTAR, or Quicksilver please read this series! I promise you will be so glad that you did!

I loved Blind Thoughts so much. It's action packed and makes you fall in love with the characters and the world they live in. But then, BAM, Hollow Sacrifices comes along. Prepare yourself for an MMC that is to die for, a whole lot of delicious spice, and even more action and character development. It's just so good, I can't get over it. CANNOT WAIT for book 3, but I'll be bawling when it's over!

Yep. She did it again. I loved this book. I love a dual POV. The plot is there. The romance is there. I really enjoyed Talli and Caspian’s relationship. I think everything played out really well. The story telling is so good. It’ll be interesting to see how things play out in the next book.
