Note: The decision was made to consolidate all Disney publications under the name Walt Disney Company. This profile is for Walt Disney, the characters he created, and the company he founded. Any questions, please ask in the Librarian's Group.

Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.

Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.

Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.

The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.

The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.

Logging to represent the many hours (sometimes coerced, but mostly willing and wonderful) spent reading Disney Princess stories to my four-year-old in 2024.

As this now far exceeds the time I’ve put into the Wolf Hall trilogy, I think it’s fair to make it reading-challenge official.

This specific collection is pretty charming: short, wholesome sequel stories low on danger and light in stakes, in which everybody basically gets along. Perfect for a bedtime wind-down.

As a three year old, I love these Princess Storybook Collections because they're full of Disney Princesses! I like that this one has a "menu," as I like to call the index, with pictures of which princess the story is about so I can tell my mom which one to read to me. The only thing I don't like about this book is that there is only one story about Sleeping Beauty. Aurora is my favorite.

Oh my goodness I loved these! I really enjoyed the Pocahontas story (the origin of her friendship with Meeko) and the behind the scenes details of Ariel’s wedding. I also loved the adventurous Aladdin tale and the Brave story as well really stood out, but overall all of these were great! I love reading them aloud to my little one.

This was a fun book to read. My daughters loved them especially. I gave this book four stars, however, due to some inconsistencies between some of the stories and the movies, as well as some grammar issues.

The kids enjoyed it but this was a pain to read. The characters of the book bore only the lightest resemblance to the movie characters, essentially being based on a single personality trait. The stories were very generic.

I loved these stories. I have dubbed it the "sick" book because we do a lot of reading time when my daughter is sick.

My favorite story from this collection was The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Royal Wedding, the last story. I think they saved the best for last. My favorite part of the story was when how romantic!

If you love Disney Princesses, you'll definitely like this collection. Each of the 11 official Disney princesses are given a short story and some (like Tiana and Ariel) are given up to three each. There's certainly something in here for everyone. I was initially drawn to it because of the two immensely cute Tangled stories in here, one about Rapunzel freeing Flynn from being framed for a crime and another about what Rapunzel and Flynn do when they reach Corona before they see the floating lanterns.

There are so many good messages contained in these stories that are the exact right size to read to a child before bed each night. There are stories about love, stories about adventure, stories about being true to yourself. They teach children about how to make their dreams reality or how to fix things when you and someone you love are angry with each other. There are great new side characters introduced in these little stories, brave men and women who are inventors, explorers, and--most of all--dreamers. I just loved it so much!

The writing is extremely simple, which makes for good read-alouds as well as a great collection for young readers. The text is pretty large and easy to read, though I love that Disney didn't lessen the vocabulary and there were some great words in here that I think would be an awesome learning opportunity.

I'd recommend this to anyone, with kids or not!

I've been looking forward to reading this book for a while now but it honestly wasn't worth the wait. I love reading stories of the princesses and entire storybook collections of them are usually my favorites but this one just wasn't that great. I had read a couple of the stories before or read the longer version of the stories that were used for chapter books but none of the stories were really amazing. Many of them were cute but there were some that didn't even really feel like they were the same characters as the ones from the movies. I really enjoyed a few of the stories that explained little bits and pieces of the movies or added more to parts of the movies but even those weren't really written that well. My favorite would have had to be the story of Ariel and Eric's wedding which happened to be the last story I read. I think it was the best written and most like the characters from the movies. Children who love the princesses will probably love this storybook but for older readers who are serious fans of the Disney Princesses this book is not the best that they could read.

This was a gift to my daughter from my brother-in-law. She loves Disney, princesses, and books, so that makes this an instant win with her. The stories are a little long for young children though. Really, she does better with the 5-minute stories rather than the storybook collections, though she still loves them. I expect this will be more fun to read with her when she is older, has a better attention span for the stories, or can even read them herself.

If your child loved any of the Disney Princess movies, this collection of stories is a great way to continue the adventure. Each story takes the reader on another adventure with their favorite princesses and the many colorful characters in their lives and each adventure ends with a lesson learned or moral taught.

Recommended for ages 5-7.
