Another Shari Low novel filled with humor, love, laughter, friendships (new and old) and real life tribulations.
Although each of her books can be read as standalones, I love that each new book has characters from previous ones. So that you can continue to hear their lives and journeys, whilst the new storylines and characters are developed.
The author’s skill at linking all the stories and characters together is so clever and engaging.
Beautifully written and so real and the characters are also realistic and interesting, that I always feel I know them all personally.
I always eagerly anticipate reading one of Shari Low’s new books and then once I start, wish I could just keep reading it and never get to the end!
Highly recommended. 5 stars

Although not billed as a series, this book does include characters from previous books and continues their stories. It's up to you whether you read the previous few books - One Day and Forever, One More Day of Us, One Snowy Day, and Just One More Day - but, to really get to know the characters, I would recommend you do. And they are all brilliant books, so why not!?
If you are going to play catchup then I'd also stop reading reviews for this book cos they could give spoilers for those...
Anyway, back to this book... We catch up with some old favourite characters as they continue their lives... Ollie and Stevie are still together, but he has a BIG decision to make regarding the rest of his (their ) life (ves). His jet set, star studded life doesn't fit with Stevie's idea of settling down quietly together... Moira is still running the eponymously named Academy that Ollie set up and is funding. Then we meet some new ones... Netta who is recently widowed but fills her time working at the Academy in the canteen, and also volunteer for a helpline. Kiki is a single mum to Ava who attends the academy but she fears that their lack of funds will prevent Ava from taking her talent to the top. And then there's Ginny who works as a voice coach at the Academy but is also aiming higher and has an audition which could help her reach her goal. She's dating fellow actor Caden who knows Ollie from school.
Once again, the whole story takes place over just one day, which is split up into 2 hour segments, each detailing what happens to all our characters, both separately and together. It's chock full of emotion. I laughed, I cried - sometimes ugly cried - I worried, I anticipated, and well, pretty much everything in between. Even shouting at them when they needed it!
I've been with these characters for quite a while now, and have invested my time and emotions willingly as I have avidly followed their ups and downs across the books. I've learned not to read them in public as they do have the tendency to make my eyes leak a wee bit... as was also the case herein! Mostly good tears thankfully...
This book is chock full of people helping people. Of communities coming together, of people actually being kind. And of baddies getting their comeuppance satisfactorily. I think the world could do with a little more of this stuff these days. I know I could... But, for a while, my world was a brighter place whilst reading this book.
Obviously, as expected, the ending was perfect, apart from the whole having to say goodbye to the characters, my friends, once again at its conclusion. I can't wait to reconnect with them all in the next book, hopefully soon. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.

Oh my! I absolutely love Shari Low! When I want to feel hopeful and inspired, and simply immerse myself into a world where there is kindness, joy and love- She is the author that I go to!

In this story, four lives are connected through the Arts Academy in one single day. Each of them are facing decisions about their future.

Ollie, the tv star, has started an Arts Academy in honor of his mother who has dedicated her life to him and given up her dream of singing. He is also in a relationship with the love of his life, Stevie. However, Stevie wants to stay in this community where her family and friends are, and does not want to give up her job and travel over half a year while Ollie works.

Netta is a widow of two years. She is trying to re-learn who she was before being tied to a man that she loved, but who smothered her passions and dreams. She is estranged from her daughter, and hopes to break through the gap that has appeared in their relationship. She works at the Academy as the canteen manager, and sidelines as a Life line volunteer for lonely and hurting people to reach out to.

Kiki is a single mom, struggling to make ends meet and give her 16 year old daughter, Ava, a loving home and opportunities to grow her singing talent. Life has not been kind to her in the relationship arena, but she is about to change that! Ava is a student at the Academy, but doubts that she has what it takes to follow her dreams.

Ginny is an acting and singing instructor at the Academy. She is in a relationship with Caden, a Theatre star. Ginny dreams of working on the screen, and has an audition that could change her life.

I love how the author creates a close knit community of characters that are connected by a common place. The characters are so well written, and you understand why they are struggling with decisions to be made. I absolutely loved Netta and Kiki! The characters are flawed, yet remain hopeful to what could be. The story is propelled by tiny and big decisions that the characters have to make, and there are some very tender moments that had me hugging this book (on Kindle!!).

Once again, Low delivers an uplifting, heartfelt, tale about the meaning of shared community, love and friendship that makes the reader want to just sit in it a while longer!

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC. This is my honest and voluntary review.

I adore Low's "One" books. They show how a single day of your life can change your life and/or the lives of others. These others are always connected in some way, and there are always secrets to be revealed and decisions to be made.

Low has a special gift for taking life's "what ifs" and making them into a compelling story. She is always able to connect the characters' lives, changing them in ways we never expect. There is always an emotional hook as well. Low handles the characters' struggles with the perfect mixture of empathy and witty charm. She always makes me feel like I am sitting and having coffee with friends, and there is something comforting about a story that feels like that, even when the themes get heavy. Low is a real gem; she writes tension wonderfully, and her style of writing never feels over-dramatic.

I am purposely being vague here, as the blurb gives a lot away. Let me just say, Low writes interesting characters, and they always show resilience. There are heavy themes in this, as is usual with this author, but feelings of hope and the giving of second chances always leave me feeling optimistic. Not everything is plausible in the plot, and there are some coincidences that have to happen, but Low's realistic character depth makes it easy to want to go along for the ride. I would call this a page-turner with lots of heart.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

One Sunny Day is the kind of story that feels like stepping into a single, golden‑lit moment where everything can still change. Shari Low brings together four lives at a crossroads, each carrying their own heartbreaks, hopes, and long‑buried dreams, and somehow manages to make their twenty‑four hours feel both intimate and expansive.

Ollie, the global superstar who seems to have everything, is suddenly faced with the truth that success doesn’t protect you from impossible choices. His storyline has that bittersweet ache of someone realising that love and ambition don’t always fit neatly together. Netta, meanwhile, completely stole my heart. After a lifetime spent caring for others, she’s convinced her story is already written—until life nudges her toward the possibility of something new, something tender, something just for her.

Kiki’s journey is raw and quietly powerful. As a single mum who’s spent years in the shadows while someone else chased fame, she finally reaches the point where silence feels heavier than the truth. Her chapters carry a beautiful mix of vulnerability and strength. And then there’s Ginny, standing on the edge of the role she’s always dreamed of, only to be thrown into a twist she never saw coming. Watching her try to rewrite her own script—literally and figuratively—adds a lovely spark of resilience to the ensemble.

What I loved most is how Low weaves these stories together with such warmth and clarity. Each character feels fully alive, flawed, hopeful, and deeply human. The ticking clock adds a gentle urgency, but the heart of the novel lies in the small, luminous moments: a choice made differently, a truth finally spoken, a door opening just when someone thought it was too late.

Uplifting, heartfelt, and threaded with that signature Shari Low blend of humour and poignancy, One Sunny Day is a reminder that sometimes all it takes is a single day to change the course of a life.

‘One Sunny Day’ is the perfect book to ease into after a previous hefty read. It’s light hearted and cosy and despite there being four points of view and lots of characters, it’s an easy to follow read. Having lots of characters kept me fully engaged and it kept my curiosity in check. I loved the character introductions at the start, it adds extra detail to the book which I always appreciate, the concept of covering just a single day in the book is absolutely fantastic and that’s what I really enjoy about Shari’s books.

Ollie, Netta, Kiki and Ginny are having a chaotic day, there are tough decisions to make, there are bonds needing to be rekindled and strengthened and there are dreams needing to be followed. Each character is different from another and have different goals.
My favourite characters were Netta and Kiki. Netta is portrayed as holding back her emotions and being incredibly stubborn but as a reader I became proud of Netta for finally opening up to her daughter about the truth regarding her marriage not being as perfect as it seems and I feel a lot of readers can relate to masking their relationships to protect their kids.
Kiki is a single mum to a 16 year old daughter called Ava and everytime I read about a single mum, I feel immediately bonded because my mum was a single mum too and it just hits different when you’ve grown up with a single mum and you’re reading about a character in the same situation. Kiki is so determined to do the best she can to protect and support Ava and we can see that Ava is her pride and joy. The bond between Ava and Netta got me emotional too, the way Netta helped Ava’s confidence was so wholesome.

As a whole, where ‘One Sunny Day’ is fiction, it also tackles real life issues, the characters are not portrayed as perfect like they are in a lot of books, they’re just portrayed as normal everyday people who are learning and make mistakes and I’m impressed with that, it’s a breath of fresh air and of course there’s still a romantic element. If you fancy a light hearted romance book then add this to your TBR.

There’s something very comforting about returning to one of Shari Low’s worlds, and One Sunny Day felt a bit like catching up with familiar faces while being introduced to a few new ones along the way. I always enjoy that sense of continuity she brings, where past and present characters blend together so easily, and that was definitely one of the highlights for me here.
That said, I did find myself slightly at odds with the way the story unfolded. It felt quite obvious in places, almost like I could see the author gently nudging me in a certain direction, only for it to turn out differently later. Usually, I love that kind of misdirection, but this time it didn’t quite land because I never really believed it in the first place. I wasn’t second-guessing myself or surprised, just a bit aware of the mechanics behind it all.
Netta’s storyline was another part that didn’t quite hit as strongly as I’d hoped. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d read a version of her before — that same arc of a woman breaking free from a marriage that wasn’t right for her. Even though the circumstances were different here, with her husband’s death rather than a separation, the emotional outcome felt very similar. Because of that, her journey didn’t feel as fresh or impactful as it could have been, which was a bit of a shame.
Despite those niggles, I did still enjoy the book. It has that easy, feel-good quality that makes it very readable, and I was more than happy to spend time in this world again. There’s a warmth to it that carries you through, even when parts of the story feel a little familiar. I think I just went in hoping to be a bit more surprised, to get something that felt new rather than revisiting themes I’ve seen before.
Overall, a good read and one I’m glad I picked up, but it didn’t quite have the spark I was hoping for.

One Sunny Day is a beautifully woven, emotional tapestry of four lives colliding over the course of just twenty-four hours—and somehow, it feels both expansive and deeply intimate at the same time. Shari Low has this incredible ability to make ordinary moments feel monumental, and this story thrives in that space where life-changing decisions happen quietly, almost without warning.

At the heart of the story is Ollie, whose glittering celebrity life masks a deeply human dilemma: choosing between love and loyalty. His storyline is layered with tension, but it’s the ripple effect of his choices that makes this book so compelling. Meanwhile, Kiki’s narrative carries a quiet strength—there’s something achingly real about watching her grapple with being forgotten while raising a daughter who deserves more than secrets. Her chapters hit the hardest emotionally.

Then there’s Netta, whose journey might be the most unexpectedly moving. Her story is a gentle reminder that life doesn’t stop offering possibilities just because you’ve stopped looking for them. And Ginny’s storyline adds a touch of chaos and ambition, balancing the emotional weight with a sense of urgency and reinvention.

What truly stands out is how seamlessly these perspectives intertwine. The pacing mirrors the ticking clock of the single-day timeline, creating a sense of urgency that builds toward a satisfying, emotionally resonant conclusion. It’s not overly dramatic, but it feels big—because it’s rooted in choices we can all imagine making.

This is a story about second chances, hidden truths, and the courage it takes to finally put yourself first. It’s heartfelt without being overly sentimental, and it lingers long after the final page.

I read this prior to release and am voluntarily sharing my honest feedback.

I found One Sunny Day to be everything I’ve come to expect from Shari Low and more 😁 I went in excited and still came out completely swept away. It felt like coming home to familiar voices, but with fresh, emotional journeys that pulled me in from the very first page resulting in a one day read!
Set across one life changing day, we follow Netta, Kiki, Ollie and Ginny all standing at difficult crossroads. Netta is navigating life after loss and years of putting everyone else first, quietly wondering if there’s still something left for her. Kiki is carrying the weight of broken promises while trying to give her daughter the life she deserves, torn between staying silent or finally speaking out. Ollie is faced with an impossible choice between love and responsibility, knowing whatever he decides will hurt someone. And Ginny is chasing a career-defining opportunity just as life throws her a curveball she never saw coming.
What I loved most is how real it all felt these weren’t just storylines, they were struggles. Second chances, missed opportunities, loyalty, sacrifice… all wrapped up in a warm, community driven setting that makes you feel part of it. Netta completely stole my heart, and the way their lives intertwined added so much depth and emotion.
multiple POVs, interconnected lives, second chances, found family, life crossroads, emotional healing make this a good fit for anyone that is a fan of Marian Keyes, Jojo Moyes and Cathy Kelly
It’s uplifting, emotional, funny and bittersweet all at once the kind of book that makes you laugh one minute and quietly reflect the next. I finished it with that full heart feeling Shari Low always delivers.
A truly gorgeous, life affirming read and I already can’t wait for the next one 📚✨

🎭Starring... a dinner lady, among others😍

4.5🌟 stars
Shari Low has been one of my go-to authors over the past few years and here she has once again brought the working class Glaswegian characters that make her stories so down to earth and heartwarming. Netta the dinner lady (cafeteria worker to American readers) is one of the four main characters who struggle through a sweltering summer Glasgow day. Any story that can make a heroine of a kind, hard-working dinner lady who moonlights as a telephone psychological support line worker gets high marks from me. But I had to compare it to Just One More Day, Low's moving previous novel, so I deducted half a star. That one wrung me out!

One Sunny Day had some serious dilemmas, especially for television sensation Ollie Chiles who's played a supporting role in several of Low's recent works featuring his mother Moira. And in Low's successful one day in two hour segments format, Ollie weighs his personal against his professional and financial goals as he meets a momentus deadline that will truly decide the course of his life, those he holds dear and maybe the fate of the no-tuition drama school he founded with his mom's former agent. Another main draw: scraping-by single mother Kiki, her talented daughter Ava, Ava's distant dad and the mystery of the scoundrel who led Kiki on for years with false promises.

Suspenseful anticipation right through to the final chapters for all of the main characters. I loved it!

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

I’ve read a few of Shari Low’s books before, so I knew I was in for a treat with this one. Her characters are so well crafted and relatable that you can’t help but keep turning the pages, telling yourself “just one more chapter” until suddenly you’ve finished the whole book.

The whole story unfolds over just twenty four hours, following four very different lives as everything shifts around them. Netta McGonigle is a widow whose marriage was far from perfect, leaving her daughter baffled about why she stayed. Ollie Chiles is a huge star thanks to a lucky break in The Clansman, and he helped found the theatre academy with a friend — an academy run by, and named after, his mother. Now he’s torn between continuing his career, and funding the academy, and choosing the love of his life. Kiki Strang is a single mum whose daughter attends the academy, still reeling from being ghosted by the actor who once promised her the world. And Ginny Canavan, an actress working at the academy between roles, suddenly has the chance to chase her dream job — but isn’t sure if it’s truly right for her. In just one day, a lot happens, including a Netflix screening at the academy that could change several lives forever.

I loved how these characters’ lives intertwined over the course of a single day, each of them facing choices that could reshape their future. Shari Low has such a gift for blending humour, heart and real life emotion, and this story captures that beautifully. It’s a warm, engaging read that left me feeling genuinely uplifted, and one I raced through with a smile.

Ollie Chiles was almost at the stage of signing the next contract in his career, giving the next five years of his life to acting, which of course he loved. But when he met and fell in love with Stevie Dixon, his thoughts of the future shifted. How could he travel continually for the next five years, and still keep Stevie happy, with her by his side? Meanwhile Netta McGonigle, who cared for and listened to everyone, seemed at a crossroads in her life. Still the tea lady, her kindness drew everyone to her...

Kiki Strang, the single mum of Ava whose singing voice was outstanding, had struggled after the abandonment of the man in her life; she'd been helping Ava toward her audition. Kiki knew she could do it, but Ava was terrified of failure. And actress Ginny Canavan was another at a crossroads in her life. Would she say yes to the offer she'd been given, or reject it for her own reasons?

Would all these people pull their lives together in the direction they were meant to go? Would they have a happy ending?

One Sunny Day is a gentle contemporary romance by Shari Low with a great cast of characters. Some have been in her previous novels, others were new. Netta & Ollie were my favourites, as different as chalk and cheese, but perfect IMO. Recommended.

To me, every day is a sunny day if I spend it reading a book by Shari Low!! I have read her last twelve books and I am so thankful that I found such an amazing author. Her stories take place in one joyful-filled, 24 hour period, when anything can happen; falling in love, auditioning for the role of a lifetime, coming to terms with the past, or finally becoming the person you always wanted to be.

One of my favorite aspects of Ms Low’s writing is that she brings back beloved characters and includes them in her new stories. Ollie’s mom Moira is a big help to him as he navigates the next path in his career and Stevie confides in her best friend, Ginny, when she needs a shoulder to cry on. My favorite new character is Netta, who also works at the drama academy that Ollie founded. She is a widow who is dedicating this part of her life to helping others and hopefully recapturing her youth, when anything was possible.

Ollie and Stevie are one of my favorite Shari Low couples and I was thrilled they would be front and center in ‘One Sunny Day.’ We met them in a previous book and their attraction to each other was instant, their joy for life delightful. Fate had brought them together and it didn’t take long for them to fall in love. Ollie and Stevie have decisions to make about their future, both personally and professionally, but I am sure that by the end of this busy day, they will have their happily ever after.

Shari Low has done it again! I loved every bit of this book.
I have read a few of her books that are a similar style to this. Focusing on a few characters, telling their story throughout 2 hour timescales over one day. I love how the first chapter is just getting to know the characters, it never feels like they can be linked together initially but throughout the course of the day you see just how much can change in a day.
Ollie is a great character, kind, generous and caring to all around him. The relationship he has with his mam is something to be proud of. I loved the way he interacted with everyone around him, showing that it doesn't matter who you are what matters is what you do.
Kiki is a strong willed single parent, who would do anything for her daughter. She proved that it's not what you have but who you have.
Netta is my favourite character from this story. Her caring nature spilled out in every storyline. A widow who struggled with not feeling sad she was a widow, she deserved everything and more.
Then there was Ginny. Funny, cheeky but caring all in one. The one who will take the mick but have your back at the same time. The true example of a teacher and a mentor.

Overall, this book has everything to make you smile and make you think that maybe there is a good in the world.

I can't wait for the next Shari Low book.

One Sunny Day confused me a little at the beginning. So many characters, each with their own intricate back story, were introduced and initially I found it difficult to keep track of them all. And then suddenly, everything gelled and all of the invisible threads that weaved their lives together solidified so that the relationships, and their significance to the story, became apparent . From then on, the story was nothing but pure, enjoyment.

There is humour, romance, heartbreak and hope as each character fights their own battle of insecurity and indecision to find their happiness in the world. For me, the star player was Netta, She reminded me so much of many of my peers who find that after a lifetime of putting others first, it's finally her time to shine.

Then there's Ollie. I so wanted to dislike him, But how could I? He's a gem amongst men and a true gentle heart.

You'll love this story. All the characters will become your friends and you'll picture yourself fitting into their world., so realistic they are The writing is very easy to read. The plot is held tightly and doesn't wander into indecision or ambiguity which is a common trap in this genre. The humour is real and you will laugh out loud and find yourself smiling warmly as you read..

A definite must read for the year.

Global TV megastar Ollie Chiles has fame, fortune and now he's met Stevie Dixon, the love of his life. But he's realised he can't have it all. He has a huge decision to make - and no mater what he chooses, he's going to hurt someone he loves.

Widow Netta McGonigle gave up her dreams to spend a lifetime taking care of everyone else. Alone now, she's resigned herself to quiet contentment - but what if life still has one or two surprises in store for her?

Single mum Kiki Strang has remained in the shadows raising her daughter Ava, while the man who promised he's come back for her chased the limelight. With that promise broken, should Kiki fade away quietly or share his secrets with the world?

Actress Ginny Canavan has the chance to land the role of a lifetime. But when fate throws in a plot twist even she could never have predicted, she will find a way to rewrite her own script.

We get some returning characters that have featured in previous "One Day" books. All the main characters have choices they need to make. The story is told from four very different perspectives and it takes place over one day. The pace is fast, it's funny and gripping.

🌞Four Sunny Stars for this new Shari Low release.🌞

Once again this author has delivered a title full of heart and humor.

Here are some of the bits I loved:

🌻That cover! Who can deny the appeal of sunflowers? We are fortunate to live near Kansas sunflower fields. They are not yet in bloom, but come late August those farms will be swamped with hopeful photographers as they make such a photogenic backgroun.

🥰Our cast of characters is diverse and lovable. The cast inclues Netta, a widow near 70, down to Ava, 15, and hopeful student at the Moira Chiles Academy of Drama and Music in Glasgow. As is her practice, Shari Low introduces the entire cast at the beginning of the book. Soon they become friends.

📺The big event in this story is the debut of a Netflix reality series featuring the Academy. For months, footage has been captured during the day-to-day activities there. The staff decided to wait for the premiere to see the edited footage. Lives will change after the 8 pm showing.

🔀If you have read other Shari Low titles, you will see some old friends and meet new ones. No need to read in order, but those who do will be rewarded with new chapters in those stories.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for a DRC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Happy Publication Day May 3, 2026! 😎

This is another lovely book by Shari Low.
This book if set over the course of a day, spoerated into 2hour time slots, you read each characters pov within each time slot. This did take a bit of getting use to for me, but the characters backgrounds at the beginning of the book really helped me in the beginning. There are some returning characters and some new. As I haven’t read the previous book I was concerned it wouldn’t make sense but it does and now I need to read ‘one snowy day’ to hear about their stories.
I think I felt every emotion possible while reading this book, humour, sadness, happiness, and with it being set over the course of they day you really know the characters a lot deeper and makes you think on your actions, and what repercussions your actions can have on everyone involved.
The 2 characters which stood out for me were Kiki, being a single mum who is struggling financially and Netta who lost her husband 2 years ago. Maybe this was for me more on a personal level.
Over all I loved it and can’t wait to read more from Shari Low.

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for the e-arc of this book in exchange for my honest review, all opinions are my own,

Told from a series of individual POV's that move the story along, this was another enjoyable book in the loosely connected Day series. As with each book, it takes place over the course of one day.

The focal point of the story is an upcoming Netflix documentary about the acting academy that famous actor Ollie Chiles created and named after his mother, Moira. She works there, coaching children who are interested in being actors or singers, and many of the featured characters are also connected to the academy in some fashion. Ollie is in a new relationship with Stevie, a radiologist in a hospital, but he's away a lot of the year for work. He's at a pivotal point in his career and has decisions to make.

I liked this book as much as the others, although for some reason this one seemed longer (I haven't compared page counts, though). I love the way the characters support each other and the academy, and how their lives all intertwine. I also enjoy seeing characters that we've met in other books make appearances. Recommend!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

Another lovely title from Shari Low who is always an author I read.
I love the style of her writing and how the story is set over one day.

Some of the characters may be familiar to you if you have read some of her other books, but this can easily be read as a stand alone.
You get a great sense for all the characters and they are written in such a way that you will fall in love with them all (well mostly!) and also feel like you are there watching how everything turns out along side them.

Netta is an absolute favourite, her story will really resonate with you and stay with you, she’s just such a beautiful, selfless person.

The ending was perfect, it nicely tied up each character’s stories.

There are lots of emotions at play throughout and you will feel this rollercoaster of emotions with the characters.

Kiki was a surprise and I was really routing for her more and more as the story progressed, along with her lovely daughter Ava.

Stevie and Ollie go on a rollercoaster of emotions of their own, but again a really good storyline for them.

So all is all? Read it, laugh, maybe shed a tear or two (happy and sad) but you won’t want to put it down!

Review of ‘One Sunny Day’ by Shari Low, due to be published on 3 May 2026 by Boldwood Books.

Whilst this book features a number of returning characters that we know and love from Shari’s previous ‘One Day’ series of books, there are several new characters to get to know. This can be read and enjoyed as a standalone, as each character is brought to life on the pages as their stories are told.

The story is broken down into sections of two hour time periods, giving it a ‘real time’ format that spans the stories of four main characters each with differing life choices to make. Cliffhanger chapter endings make you want to read on to find out the fate of those involved. As always, how each persons life is connected to another is explored to give a satisfying ending to their respective storylines.

The characters are loveable, the story is heartwarming, uplifting and leaves you with a warm glow. It tugs at those heartstrings with some well written and emotional dilemmas.  What’s not to love!

One Sunny Day is the latest offering in Shari Low’s One Day series. Set in Glasgow, one Thursday in July and the countdown is on for a screening of a documentary of Moira Chiles Academy of Drama and Music. Told from four points of view we get to know Ollie, a Hollywood superstar who hasn’t forgotten his humble roots and owner of the academy who is facing a tough decision about his career and personal life. Netta, the academy’s lunch lady, who is finding her way after being widowed. Kiki, whose daughter attends the school and who has a secret relationship that she wants to expose. Ginny, an acting and vocal coach whose auditioning for her big break.

I enjoyed getting to know all four of the character, they get well developed over the day and you really find yourself connected to each of them. It’s fun to see the connections between each of the characters and the countdown to the screening and what it could bring for each of the characters had kept me turning the pages. Another great installment to the series.

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book. 4 stars. I loved the format of this book – told through the eye of several characters – TV superstar Ollie Chiles; Canteen worker Netta; single mum Kiki; Actress Ginny etc as they move through a 24-hour period. Ollie has set up a dance and drama academy in Glasgow, his birthplace. The academy is the subject of a Netflix drama and is due to show the series episodes that evening and they will find out if it’s due to be commissioned for series two. As we move through the day we find out Ollie is struggling to decide what to do next in his career; Kiki is struggling financially and with the lack of support from Ava’s father; for Netta it’s the second anniversary of her husband’s passing, is it time to change her life?; actress Ginny has an audition which could be life changing. Lovely warm characters. So absorbed in what was happening in each two-hour segment. Great writing. Can’t wait to read another book by Shari

One Sunny Day is told in two hour time slots throughout one day with Ollie a Hollywood superstar, Netta a widowed lunch lady, Kiki a single mum and Ginny an actress.
All are preparing to attend an evening premiere of a fly on the wall Netflix film filmed over several months of Ollie and his mother’s Academy of Drama which if successful could lead to more programmes helping to fund the academy’s future.
With our four main leads, a strong supporting cast and great dialogue and well described individuals this is an enjoyable and satisfying read.
It took me a while to settle into the book as there were quite a few characters, some new others from a previous book so nice to catch up with them. With everything coming together it was a lovely finale.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

A new book from Shari Low is always a treat and One Sunny Day was no exception. I love the concept and this series of books which take place over the course of one day. This one focuses on the now up and running Moira Chiles Academy and the day spent in preparation for the release of the documentary about it on Netflix. We meet old friends, focusing on Ginny, now a coach at the Academy. We meet Netta who works in the canteen and Kiki, mum to one of the students. As always more old friends appear- Moira, Ollie (now with Stevie), Jessie, Georgie and Alyssa. I enjoyed how Kiki’s story was told and was rooting for her all the way. And as for Netta- it’s never too late to find yourself. As always this was a warm hug of a book and made a sick day in bed so much more enjoyable. #netgalley #onesunnyday #mayreading #sharilowauthor

Shari Low has several standalone books where readers will recognize the community and several of the characters from prior books. So, not a series, but richer for being familiar with the who and where in each book. Four women at different points in life narrate this one sunny day. All of them will cross paths at the Moira Chiles Academy of Drama and Music in Glasgow, each of them hoping "this day" will change their lives for the better. The Academy is hosting a segment of a reality show, including many of the locals in the episode. I enjoyed the interactions of the characters and the reality show crew. Life is what you live when no one is looking, but one day can be full of possibilities. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a lighter women's fiction that still has a message to share with readers. It would make a great book club read too.

I couldn't put this book down! Just what I needed after some heavy novels and perfect for a sofa holiday on a cold rainy day. I'm relatively new to this author, but I'm a huge fan already. I love her writing style, the content is current and relatable and the characters feel real. This story is told through multiple POVs, but I didn't have any problem keeping track of everyone. A heartwarming and thought-provoking story of family, friendship, secrets, betrayal and quiet strength. Some heartbreaking moments but also some wonderful humour sprinkled in. I loved it so much and didn't want it to end.

I have really come to love Shari Low for women's fiction. She included a thing at the beginning of the book to tell you or remind you who the different characters were. I knew right then that I was in trouble. The books that do that tend to have lots of characters and unless I keep going back and forth to read about the characters, I am usually lost.

This did turn out to be a good story, but it really took me forever to be able to straighten things out in my mind. It's like each little group of characters has their own story going on and things really don't right themselves (at least for my brain) till the very last. I just had lots of problems with it.

Thanks to Boldwood Books for the digital copy via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

The academy Ollie Chiles set up and funded is the subject of a reality TV documentary, which could be life-changing for the participants as they all prepare to watch the programme live; a day of ups, downs, and life-changing moments unfolds. It is always lovely to reconnect with well-loved characters, and there is plenty of opportunity to do so here. If this is your first book, it is readable as a standalone, but the series is so emotionally rewarding that you should treat yourself to it. It's a story of community, dreams and hope, and it shows the better side of humanity in most cases. I love the way ordinary people shine in this story, along with the mix of humour, poignancy and love.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher.
