Book THREE the New Parent Series. The human mind is a strange and clever thing. One of its most deceptive talents is curiosity, the quiet force that turns discomfort into desire, guilt into reason, and convinces us that a wrong choice might somehow feel right. Curiosity has a way of slipping past every rule we set for ourselves, whispering excuses until the lines between good and bad start to fade.
It's about to go down. My opinion is that men are weak. To dangle a piece of steak in front of a lion, and expect him not to bite is ludicrous. Katie's mother was a 1000% right about her bringing Sabrina into their home. In conclusion.....
1. Katie is desperate and she pretty much forced her relationship with Apollo. She probably got him with being his first and only partner.
2. Apollo is a perv. Sabrina is not Sandy, and you are a grown 38 yr old man lusting after a 19-20yr old that looks 16 and acts 10. Let that sink in.
3. Sabrina is touched. The girl giving me autism vibes. She definitely somewhere on the spectrum.
2.75 Stars. (BW/WM). Audible free audiobook with 6 hours if b=virtural voice narration. SETTING: Current time in and around a New York City borough. TROPE: Forced proximity. Adopted adult female/ male guardian romance. MAIN CHARACTERS: 1. APOLLO M. LAURENT, male lead, 38-year-old independently wealthy male. 2. SABRINA "SABBY' , lead female, is a 20-year-old unemployed Black female adopted daughter of a White couple. 3. KATHERINE "KATIE" LAURENT is Apollo's seemly devoted but scheming wife. 4, TYLER is Katie's flirtatious womanizing 40-year-old brother. 5. CAMILA is Katie's distrustful mother. 6. JULIA is Apollo's 64-year-old ailing and neglected mother.
This third installment of New Parent continues to drag out events that disclose the growing physical and emotional connection between Apollo and Sabrina and symontaneously give glimpes into the conniving and controlling nature of Katie. In this telling, we meet Apollo's mother, Julia. Julia informs the reader that Apollo has always been attracted to Black women and that his first love and soul mate was an ailing Black girl named Sandy not Katie. In the course of Apollo and Sabrina bonding as he teaches her to ride a bike, Apollo confirms his mother's story about Sandy and his deep love for each other, their hope of marriage and her dying in his arms. Later in the story, Apollo and his co-worker, Eric have an altercation regarding Eric's suspicion of what could be happening sexually with Sambrina. Tyler remains a bone of contention for Apollo; however, it's Katie catching him (Apollo) jacking off to a picture of him and Sabrina taken while they were partying at a yachting event.
Wow! Katie is delusional and completely oblivious. This is what they mean when they say you’re so smart that you’re dumb! Poor thing, the signs are all over the place and right in her face. She should have listened to her mama. And who adopts an adult woman and moves them in the house with her husband?!?!? Who adopts an adult, period? Something isn’t right with poor Katie
Apollo is killing me, he keeps saying he loves his wife and is so lucky to have her but her is chasing a 20 year old that’s staying under the same roof as his wife. He should have sent her away after he caught her with her vibrator, now he is literally obsessed and creating spaces and opportunities to open her up to the idea of sleeping with him. Holding her from the back in a “hug”. She is a virgin and he wants her badddd, she looks just like his first love.
And that little street urchin Sabrina done came in this woman’s house and flirting with and masturbating to her husband, after she saved her a$$ from poverty and God knows what else.
Everything about the book should be a turn off. It’s formatted weird, the editing is bad. The POV is all over the place, the plot is dragging entirely too slow. With all that being said, I am invested on how this story of delusion ppl will turn out.
Sabrina is a young naive adult yearning for a sense of family and Apollo and Katie are older adults yearning for a sense of family from a parental standpoint. Sabrina is essentially pretending to be the “kid” Kate wants her to be. It’s so weird.
The taboo nature is an inappropriate parent/child relationship, but it’s almost impossible to really view Sabrina as a child or the main couple as her parents. So the story has more of an emotionally cheating vibe.
With all that being said I want to know how all of this messiness is going to work out for an HEA.
This story is EXTREMELY drawn out. It's all interesting, but we're at the end of Book 3 and nothing physical has happened between Sabrina and Apollo, not even a kiss. The author is really laying this brick by brick and having them inch toward each other very, very slowly as their emotions change. All commendable, but that does not make this story feel any less predatory. The whole thing is still low key creepy. Entertaining though, and very well written. The twist at the end is a long time coming and Book 4 is about to be lit!
Could feel this was building up to something. Apollo fighting against instinct and type, Sabrina's innocence, and Katie clueless. Everyone else can see it but her. Dying to know how this will end.
Katie girl that’s not your man anymore. This cliff hanger has me drooling for the next book. Feel like this will be another 7 parter. However I just hope the ending is worth it!
This series is addicting 😍 can't wait for more this author gets it with her books.I like the subtlety of what's going on with the feelings development and physical touches we get alot more of. Love Apollo mom she tell it like it is lol.
The amount of times, I said out loud "yall are wildin", is uncalled for. I swear I have not come across another author that can write angst quite like this! I'm hooked!! Give me more!!! The way I hollered at the end of this book! Can't wait for book 4.
I need more Oh my god! The way I was giggling and kicking my feet reading some of the interactions, the reading was so entertaining from beginning to end, but this is really a slow burn, goddamn! I need to see some Sabrina and Apollo action, fuck Katie man
I have no words, this book has put me through a rollercoaster. I'm elated one minute, dad and strengths next. My nerves are on end. I had to write a review, this series is addictive I cannot stop reading 📚. Excellent story, foreboding but brilliant!!!
