Chasing Nicole: A Dark Paranormal Romance

Rate this book
Nicole never expected to die. She definitely didn't expect to come back.

As a therapist in Wintermoon, Nicole rebuilt her life after trauma, one careful boundary at a time. Then Bobby walked into it - a vampire lieutenant with a revolutionary past and eyes that tracked her every move. His pursuit was relentless. His interest, undeniable. His claim? Written in fate itself.

But fate has a cruel sense of timing.

When violence shatters Nicole's world, Bobby makes an impossible choice. He turns her without consent, binding them through blood and darkness. Now his guilt-ridden devotion borders on obsession, and Nicole must navigate newborn bloodthirst, vampire politics, and the possessive male who literally remade her in his image.

Enter Josiah - unhinged, dangerous, and utterly devoted to his new "sister." His twisted guidance through Nicole's darkest moments blurs every line between monster and family, forcing her to confront what she's truly become.

Because healing isn't linear. Trauma doesn't define you, but how you rise from it might. And sometimes the only way to reclaim your power is to embrace the darkness that tried to destroy you.

When radicals threaten everything she's fought to protect, Nicole will prove that being turned against her will wasn't a tragedy. It was a revolution.

Blood calls to blood. Heart recognizes heart. And some love stories begin with fangs bared and vengeance in their eyes.

A dark paranormal romance featuring a possessive vampire hero with a revolutionary past, a powerful heroine rising from trauma, chaotic found family dynamics, and a fated mate bond forged in blood and fire. HEA guaranteed

Just okay.

So I am torn on my feelings for this book, because I love being in this world that Tessa created, but I also felt so-so about the romance between Bobby and Nicole, and not because I didn't feel the chemistry but because I felt that Bobby didn't deserve a mate yet. Bobby puts his Nicole in harm's way multiple times in this book, and I don't think I've read any other male in the series besides Levi not care/think of his mate's well-being first and foremost. Nicole, for her part, was clingy and stubborn, but she hid behind the excuse of being human and not really knowing better. Bobby is from this world and has knowledge, and even with that, he still refuses to go to his sire for help or listen to his guidance when given. And Nicole paid the price for it multiple times.

Excellent

This book is EXCELLENT! I purposefully took my time reading it, because it’s only one other book after this in this series, and then I don’t know I’m going to deal. The storytelling behind this is some of the Tessa’s best work. I loved how gritty it was. From Nicole literally having to fight for survival, to blocks being blown up, to the night of the massacre, this was dark yet fulfilling at the same time.

I have so many thoughts.

One, I still can’t stand Angie and Anora. Anora is clearly jealous of Carla and I’m tired of people letting them Angie disrespect them, only for her to apologize weeks and months later. She does this constantly and her shtick has gotten old. Also, I don’t like how Tristan, Ebony, and Nia did Nicole. Yes, everything worked out in the end, but Tristan is the one who saved Nicole from the radicals; Ebony and Nia were supposed to be her friends. Whether she was turned or not, they should have known that she would never hurt hurt anyone, much less the children of the Academy. That’s not in her character. They’d be apologizing to me until the end of time.

Also, I love how Amari was so locked in as the leader of his coven. We know him for being a lover boy, but when he put his foot down and gave a command, everybody listened.

But the real star of this show was Josiah! I love a polarizing anti-hero or villain, and Josiah fits that bill perfectly. His madness was palpable. My man was on go! And what really made me just fall in love with his character is that, despite him being hundreds of years old, he still has a sense of humanity. (Not in a sense of caring about others, because he clearly doesn’t; and he only cares about himself to a certain degree).

No, I like Josiah because he’s a supernatural who still participates in human activities. So many of the supernaturals in Wintermoon turn their noses up at common things that humans do, like watch TV, eat popcorn and grilled cheese sandwiches, but Josiah doesn’t do that. He’s not constantly comparing himself to humans; he just is who he is. And despite his madness, he could call out the BS when he saw it, like how Bobby claimed complete strangers to be his brothers and sisters, but denied Josiah because he just didn’t like him.

I can’t wait until I get to his book, because he was honestly my favorite. This was an amazing read.

3.5 ⭐⭐⭐

Out of all the vampire tales this is by far my favorite one. In each book I was so upset that everyone in Wintermoon can be so prejudice of vampires. We especially saw this with Carla, where no matter what she did for them she never fit in. Amari has done so much for the kids at the school and even he is not accepted. We see that Kade, Leah and Damon are exception not the rule. All other vampires in Wintermoon don't actually do much for the community so the rest of Wintermoon doesn't see a reason to make them feel inviting.

Overall, I hope with time and as more vampires start step up and interact with the community we start to see changes. I really hope the next generation will not have the prejudice of their parents.

I can't wait for the next series focus on the Academy, I think that's where we will see the bigger changes. A school where all species go together will be amazing. It makes me sad that vampires can't have kids, that's the one thing that made me sad. Loved seeing more inter species fated mates :)

I really looking forward to seeing Angie, Carla and Anora start their Coven. Also see how the witches of the Witching Glen are doing. I feel like people mention them in so many books, but we get no update. They lost the dark magic they used and we have seen nothing of how they been handling it. Even as we have had books come out years after Aya was defeated.

Also I would love to see what Amir will do with the vampires of the Master Coven, are they fixing their issues are will they all be killed. I'm hoping with Josiah's next book the door is open for us to see more of the Master Coven.

This Vampire 🧛🏾‍♂️ series was really 👍🏾 good. It was a lot to unlock 🔓 (unravel) But let’s start from the beginning 😊 Nicole 😮‍💨 I couldn’t imagine going through the trauma of being gang (touched) and still becoming a therapist helping others when I still needed to heal myself. She was strong 💪🏾 for that. Avenging herself and going after the guys who did it to her reminded me of Twlight when ow girl 👧🏾 was touched and went back and got every last guy who did it, but saved the best for last.
That’s what Bobby did 😉 saved the guy who talking all that mess about how he did Nicole for last.
Josiah maybe a bit off because what he encountered before he was a vampire 🧛🏾‍♂️ but he was ready to get every last dude for Nicole (his sister 😅) they call him crazy Jo for a reason (read to find out) but the way his slave master did him, I see why he crazy 🤪
Bobby probably needed to wait a couple more years/decades for Nicole cause he so built on trust, that when she turned into a vampire 🧛🏾‍♂️ he thought 💭 he could still move like she was human. He should of use the sir bond and sat her rump down from going to the academy school 🏫 (all her little feelings got hurt) 😔
In the end, well I won’t spoil to much ☺️Happy reading 📖

Enjoyable!!!

Enjoyed Bobby and Nicole's journey to their HEA and Nicole's vampire transformation.
I like the 2 characters. Nicole had some spunk and kept Bobby on his toes. As a young vampire, Bobby still has a lot to learn. He really needs to get a handle on Nicole, she's hardheaded and has to learn the hard way. The two make a good couple.

Now to Josiah, there's a method to his madness and he is funny.

The spider children are hilarious.

And Angie is not the bitch everyone makes her out to be. All she wanted was a soft girl life once she found her mate. Instead she has the to come into her full power and fulfill a prophesy and still take care of her family and her work responsibilities. It's enough to make anyone a bit touchy.

There's a good storyline, characters, death scenes (because vampires), tears, humor and just plain good reading. The book is long but definitely worth reading.

Chasing Nicole is another beautiful addition to the Wintermoon Fated Mates Vampire series, delivered flawlessly by Tessa Stone—because she truly never misses.

Bobby and Nicole make such a cute couple. Nicole, like Hazel, had her own healing to do, and Bobby was that steady calm after her storm. Their story carried the familiar Wintermoon themes of love, growth, and triumph, yet still felt fresh and uniquely theirs.

Tessa Stone always delivers rich characters, emotional depth, and just the right amount of spice. This was another wonderful read, and now I’m headed straight into Crazy Jo’s story.

I’m ready for his healing… and his fated mate!

Loved it

This was well worth the wait, I have grown to really enjoy reading about these characters and don't think I'll ever tire of them. I must say though I was disappointed in the way Josiah was treated they were so mean to him and I'm glad he'll have his own story to tell in looking forward to it. Kudos to the author you've done it again.

Now this is what I came here for!

I love Nicole and Bobby!
I love Moria and Kemnebi.
I love me some Josiah lol I can’t wait for his story!
I loved how Nicole slapped the taste out of Angie’s mouth.
It was so nice to see Nia in a new light. She’s more healed and as stable as she can be with a little shifter bouncing off the walls.

10/10 for me.

Bobby & Nicole

I’m really liking the vampire arc of the Wintermoon series. I’m glad I came across this book because I didn’t realize there was a vampire arc. I “jumped ahead” by accident and read the first book of the spinoff into the Wintermoon academy series. In that book Nicole has been with the Medina Shadow Coven for several years. It’s nice to have her back story.

The spiders were the seen stealers of the book. Totally out of the box with the MMC based on someone from the black panthers- loved it. I like this vampire story line better than the shifters. It has more depth.
