Cedar Hollow #1

Snowfall at Cedar Hollow

Rate this book
A burnt-out novelist. A small-town bookseller. A winter storm that changes everything. ❄️

When bestselling author Harper Lane escapes New York in search of silence and a fresh page, she expects nothing more than snowdrifts, solitude, and maybe a cat sighting or two. Instead, she lands in Cedar Hollow—a winter town full of warmth, wonder, and one very opinionated white cat determined to adopt her.

There’s Jack Reynolds, the quiet neighbor with a craftsman’s touch and a past he keeps close. There’s Eloise, the matchmaking bookseller whose bookshop feels like stepping inside a story. And there’s WinterFest, where lanterns glow, stories are shared, and hearts thaw beneath the falling snow.

As Harper rediscovers her voice—and the unexpected spark between her and Jack—she must decide whether the life she left behind is still worth returning to…
or whether Cedar Hollow is where her story truly begins.

A tender, hopeful winter romance about second chances, small-town magic, and finding love where you least expect it.

Susan Trott is a Canadian author whose work spans visionary eco-fiction, science fiction, cozy romance, memoir, and myth-infused nature writing. Through her independent imprint Tagger Press, she creates stories that explore the quiet magic of the natural world, the resilience of ordinary people, and the threads of meaning that connect past and future.

She is the author of The Oak Witness, King of Dams, CAPPED, Escape, The Cedar Hollow Series: Snowfall in Cedar Hollow, The Undelivered Roses, and Noínín's Wish.

Her writing blends emotional depth with imaginative world-building — from near-future thrillers to ancient alien civilizations to gentle, heartwarming tales of small-town life.

A lifelong animal guardian and dedicated “cat lady,” she lives with her husband Jim and a multigenerational feline family in Ottawa, where fresh snow, koi ponds, and the quiet presence of trees often find their way into her stories.

This is a beautiful book that left me feeling all sorts of emotions, good ones of course. I loved the characters in this as they are well written. Very happy to see this is a series because I will be reading the rest to see what happens within the world of Cedar Hollow. At one point towards the middle of the book it almost brought me to tears because of how sweet it was. For someone who is used to reading longer books, this one was meant to be short. It left me with so many emotions before and after reading. I mean, I was kicking my feet like I was the one falling in love. I will be recommending this to people, they need to experience this with me. This is what I call a true love story through and through.

A perfect wintertime romance to finish out the year. Harper, Jack, Snowball and the town of Cedar Hollow set the perfect backdrop for a cozy holiday read! Looking forward to what comes next in the series.

What a cozy quick read.

Harper Lane, is a best selling author out of New York who is burnt out and can’t find her groove. She packs a small bag and heads out to Cedar Hollow for rest and a chance to revive herself and her writing.

Small town Cedar Hollow is exactly what Harper needs. Quiet solitude to help get her writing on track again and of course a neighbour and a lovely bookseller who is excited to meet Harper and get her involved in Winterfest in Cedar Hollow.

I enjoyed the characters and the small town. The perfect winter read of patience, falling in love and fun in Cedar Hollow. Will Harper return to life in New York when she gets back on track or has she found what she’s been missing?

This is the third book in a series I've read as an advanced review copy; love this cozy little town with passion and nosy in a good way people. I confess I may love the series because I grew up in a small town.
The writing style makes me feel connected to emotions. I love a little struggle and a happy ending. This book makes me want to write and publish again.
I did receive an advance review copy for free; this honest review is voluntary.

Palette cleanser? I read it like she was having a dream in a snowy cabin where she met a man and fell in love like an avalanche. She woke up and the book was written and she had found her true love not to mention a cat. The end. Super quick short read. Thank you Booksirens for allowing me to be part of the book review team.
