The United Civilizations of the Andromeda Galaxy had been at war for centuries. Everyone thought peace was finally within reach… until a single act of sabotage ended an entire civilization overnight.
Now, on the far edge of what was once a thriving galactic empire, a tiny mining colony finds itself very, very alone. Fifty thousand men, one thousand women, and a whole lot of awkward silence.
It could have been the end of their story. But one stubborn woman refused to let their civilization fade away.
She thought it would take years to find a compatible world. Instead, twenty-four hours later, she found Earth—and accidentally paved the way for the galaxy’s most chaotic dating app.
With funding from Earth’s governments and a questionable sense of what humans find romantic, the Human Extraterrestrial Liaisons Program (H.E.L.P.) was launched. The match single alien men with single human women. The cultural differences.
Like, “opossums are definitely not cats” kind of differences.
Convincing human women to help solve a different sort of male loneliness epidemic is one thing, but getting them to stay and build a life on a distant planet far from home is another. Can love bridge the gaps between culture, language, and uh, physical difference? What will it take to make them believe their fate is among the stars?
Planet WLN269 Needs Women is a new shared world series that imagines what it would be like if human woman decided to leave behind one male loneliness epidemic to solve another on a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy. All stories feature low-stakes alien-human romance stories, lots of steam, and a guaranteed Happily Ever After.
Dakota Cockaday is the pen name of the most unexciting woman in the world. Dakota loves paranormal and true crime podcasts, romance books about aliens, and chicken tamales. She always wants to pet your dog or see pictures of your cat. Dakota hoards blank notebooks like it’s her job. She has no spare time, so she writes when she really should be cleaning the house. You can reach her at dakota.cockaday@gmail.com.
With the galaxy destroyed and only one surviving planet…the survivors on Planet WLN269 have a problem. 50,000 men to 1,000 women. Iela, one of those women, is determined to find female life out there…somewhere. But she’s surprised when she makes contact with a planet far away…Earth. And there the women there are more than eager to help out.
Dakota Cockaday is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Everything she writes is so freaking creative and ridiculous, and this was no different. She always manages to have me laughing while still really getting sentimental over the relationships in the story. The whole premise of this series is so fun, and I’m pissed I have to wait so long for the books. Also, the acronyms in this book are absolutely perfect. That is all. I don’t have anything else because you just have to read this short little sci-fi prologue. You’ll be hooked and ready to volunteer are tribute for WLN269…just like me.
What a way to start a series, this short but sweet prequel is an amazing look at Planet WLN269 and I can’t wait to explore it and meet the new couples ready to start their adventures in love and lust
Such a fun little prequel, definitely got me excited for more! I’ve said this before, but if Dakota writes it I’m going to read it with no questions asked! I love all the fun acronyms, and how closely you have to pay attention to appreciate it. This will be my first tentacle experience, and I’m ready!
Planet WLN269 Needs Women was such a fun and spicy sci fi adventure. I loved following Iela, one of the few women left from her planet, as she navigates survival, family, and a secret romance that had me hooked from the start. The world building is creative, the characters are unique, and the chemistry is amazing with a little tentacle spice that definitely delivered.
The introduction of the Human Extraterrestrial Liaisons Program sets up a shared world series that I am genuinely excited for, especially with so many incredible authors joining in. It feels like the start of something big and I can’t wait to read more.
A fun short read and a great kickoff to what looks like an amazing multi author universe.
What a prequel! I loved every moment and have a feeling this series will be a new addiction. It’s really just a taster / teaser for what’s to come in February 2026 but I cannot wait. The world building is there and the spice was a nice bitesized delight. If the rest of the series are half as entertaining as this, I know I will love them all.
ALL of the abbreviations had me cackling but here’s my fave quote:
“Planet WLN269? You have to be joking? The very first alien civilization humanity encounters and their planet is called freaking WiLliNg To 69? I swear… it’s like a twelve-year-old boy created the universe… ”
A quick taste of what we're all in for with this upcoming series!
Loris Loon, investigative reporter from the Ghostlight review, is back! This time with the scoop that's out of this world. She's got the scoop on the new HELP program.
This story also includes the mating climax between Iela and Ret, two of the members of a mining crew on WLN269, and how they made contact with Earth.
👽 Communications expert x Miner 👽 Brother's best friend 👽 WLN269 needs women 👽 First contact 👽 Possums 👽 Tentacles
This was a fun, quick read about a planet with a male to female ratio of 50,000:1,000. Iela has been working to contact women from other planets to try to meet the needs of her planet. Some of the acronyms that aren’t identified made me laugh so hard. There’s only one spicy scene but it was really good. The “cat” Captain Gargilla got in the epilogue was hilarious and I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
A quick introduction to planet WLN269 (that ONE sentence joking about WLN269 had me ROLLING 🤣) that piqued my interest and now has me (im)patiently waiting for more. I’m a sucker for “aliens need companions”, forced proximity, and possible fated mates situations. Fingers crossed for some “teach me” moments. Can’t wait for these stories to drop from multiple authors. And sign me up, PLEASE.
This was a fun bite sized read to close out 2025. I wish it was more on the couple in this book. I feel like it could have been so much more, but I get it since this was just a book to wet our whistles. It was a nice drumroll for this collaboration series.
I read this ahead of the series coming out because I am lucky enough to be on the arc team, and this little insight into the world and the problems and what is to come made me so excited!! I cannot wait to see what happens.
This was a super short and cute into to an interconnected series. It was nice to get MCs that are both alien. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the series brings.
