I’m into romantic suspense’s lately and this has a lot of action & suspense that had me captivated till the end and a kick-ass FMC that I loved, as well as several other female characters that were all bad-asses. So it should have been a winner but the romance portion tanked in so many ways. From lack of chemistry, to forced attraction, mixed signals and so much more. In a nut-shell, the MMC ruined the story as he was no Alpha dude here. His insecurity drove me nuts. We have mentions about how all the women in his past left him, how one minute he thinks FMC is his one & only and his end game only to question it the next minute by hoping she is. Even at 98% of the story, he says he THINKS he may be in love with her - not that he IS in love with her. Lol.
His constant POVs and asking/expecting her to leave him when she gives him no reason to do so just made me wish that she would have left already! Sheesh. But I could have forgiven all that if not for the fact that he truly sucked donkey balls with how he was written as not pursuing FMC - not in the past or present. It's the FMC who does all that.
So my rating for this is for the FMC alone and all the side characters and the action/suspense. MMC who should have been the Alpha here as he was the leader, was just plain stupid and annoying. But what truly ruined it for me is that in the beginning we find out that MCs have known each other for two years and worked on a case or two together. He is a former army guy who now has his own security agency and she is a park ranger investigative detective or something. MCs were attracted to one another but MMC says this in the beginning after FMC saves his butt:
“he’d been intrigued by her from the first time they’d met. Had been working up the nerve to ask her out, when everything had gone down with former-sheriff Thompson in Raven’s Cliff, and Greer had stepped up after nearly dying. Since then, it had been one emergency after another. Add in trying to be a full-time deputy and run his business, and he’d barely had time to sleep, let alone date. He’d tried. Had lasted a few weeks with one of the nurses from the hospital, but it hadn’t worked out. Too military, she’d said, not that he even knew what that meant other than he somehow hadn’t measured up”.
So MCs meet, have an attraction and he was planning to ask her out but got too busy for her, yet not too busy to meet and date the OW for several weeks? And also, it's been two years. In all that time, he was "too busy" to ask her out but not too busy to hook up & date others?
This is why the MMC here didn't work. Author wanted I guess to make him this bad ass Alpha dude but in reality (on paper that is 😏) turned him into a wimpy cockroach who has to be pushed into starting a relationship with FMC, be constantly rescued by FMC and give him reassurance all the freaking time like he is a toddler. FMC did all the heavy lifting in both the romance & action part. She initiated the first kiss and she also initiated the first sex scene. That is just not my kind of a Hero at all. 🫣
Other than this, I did like the plot and all the characters (with the exception of the MMC of course) and love how author made all the female characters bad-asses. I look forward to Buck's & Nick's stories as I liked these guys but the MMC here can just go suck ass.

➕ What I liked :
Some little parts here and there of the plot were a little interesting.
Rather tough and strong heroine.
The heroine and many other women in the story/plot were portrayed as being tough as nails.
➖ What I disliked:
Underwhelming.
(Plot and main characters.)
Formulaic.
Predictable.
Unconvincing and forced romance/chemistry.
(In so many ways from both main characters… they just did not seem like they really wanted to be together and there was no real spark or bond between them… especially from the heroes side of things…..the hero more or less had to be coaxed to be with the heroine in any romantic or sexual way (The heroine initiates their first kiss and she also initiates their first sex scene)… so just sort of weird and not romantic or sexy at all.🙅♀️
Not that there is anything wrong at all with women taking the initiative romantically or sexually some of the time…. But how it was written in the story/plot felt more like it was kind of coaxing and kind of forced in many ways...And that is a totally different thing… which is cringey 😬 among other things.)
The hero was a little too wishy-washy when it came to his feelings for the heroine.
In some places the violence was OTT and just seemed like the violence was added just for the sake of it.
A little too far-fetched when it comes to the heroes injuries and his team member/comrades injuries etc. …..
Even with the presence of adrenaline… some of the injuries or really all of the injuries to the hero and his team member/comrade from being hit by shrapnel would have been very very painful and debilitating… so even with the presence of adrenaline and the hero and his team members/comrades being in a very dangerous situation and having a kind of medic with them with rudimentary kit/equipment … the hero and his team member/comrade that was even more injured would have slowed the others down very much and both the hero and his team member/comrade could easily have bled out among other things from their injuries… or/and been caught and killed.
The hero being reckless and foolhardy when he checks himself out from the hospital even-though he is not healed or anything… and just more or less acts like everything is good and like nothing happened…A little too macho/alpha behavior with that among other things.

I think I'm the first person to rate it 4 star instead of 5. But hear me out.
That Cover!!! Chefs kiss!! The book was really good. It was fast paced, and had all the suspense and action. This was a perfect edge of your seat survival book with romance from slow burn to explosive heat. It kept me reading non stop, and I did love it. I will 100% read every installment as they come out.
I do have a couple wishes that didn't hit. I was REALLY hoping to NEVER have to read the term "ATE AT THEIR MOUTH" He ate at her mouth, she ate at his mouth. It was my main wish for this and unfortunately it's in there. Serious cringe. I also feel like if I hadn't read Raven's Watch, I wouldn't know half of their stories. Bodie's history. How he came to Ravens Cliff. At first I thought the first chapter was a throw back to when he was initially injured and had to be rescued by Foster. I wanted to see more history and connection with Buck, and Wade. They deserved to have more of their history touched on to help us connect to them. I know they'll get their own books but I felt really connected to the "watch" team right from book one. The security team feels a little glossed over to me in this book. Over all, another banger from Kris Norris

All the thrills, suspense and a hot romance rolled into one fabulous story!
Raven's Fall is a perfect start of a new series by the talented author Kriss Norris. This once new to me author has grown to be my favorite suspense romance writer, in a few short novels, involving the former military turned security and SAR teams. It's fun to see previous characters return over and over to the new series. Each time they do the characters have grown and developed into even more believable and real people. They are the type of people you would want to have as friends and neighbors!
Of course, there are new characters being introduced in this series such as Bodie Page and Rowan Scott. Both are take-charge, independent , strategists. Used to being in charge they both fight their attraction as the timing- a simple mission has gone deadly wrong- is all wrong. Concentrating on protecting the unit and getting out of the kill box is the priority. But once the mission is over-- well, true love won't be denied. And boy is true love hot enough to burn their world!
The plot of Raven's Fall is riveting! Just when I thought I had figured it out, Kris threw in a plot twist and blew my carefully thought out whodunit straight to he**! Raven's Fall is sure to keep you reading late into the night. My mantra again became "...one more chapter!..." However, now in hindsight, it would have been better if I had taken my time and savored the many nuances of this novel. I might have finished it with a clearer picture of what happened. Instead, I kept re-reading passages over again in order to make sense out of the latest twist.
I love Kris Norris descriptions of the Pacific North. It is even more enjoyable as I recognizes places like the Lewis and Clark National historic park. I spent my summers with my aunt and grandparents in Oregon and Washington. Kris' creative imagining of Raven's Fall brings back memories of a happy childhood and a simpler time in my life.
I am looking forward to book two of this new series as Kris partners with Jen Talty to bring us another adventure romance in Raven's Fall.

A fast paced and highly explosive start to the Raven's Security series
Bodie stole my heart way back in the Raven's Watch series, he was in the process of launching his security company when the corruption in the police force was brought to light, he didn't hesitate to step in and assist as a deputy while they cleaned house. Throughout that series he managed to straddle the lines between police, private security and helping Raven's Watch with investigations and rescues...but here we finally get Raven's Security launched in all it's glory.
What should have been an easy mission morph's into a life and death extraction through forest, fog, trip wires, IEDs and operators determined to kill - they lose one of their own in a horrifying way....but are rescued by an unexpected angel, a voice in the mist. I love Bodie and Rowan together, two highly trained operators who both want to protect each other, but also want answers and vengeance for those stolen from them.
Rowan was in the right place at the right time, she knew she hadn't imagined the threat, knew it wasn't just a conspiracy theory, but she could never have imagined just how high up the corruption goes and how deep the pockets funding it are. She and Bodie won't stop until they have the answers and those behind it all are brought to justice.
This book has a fantastic crossover with the cast of Raven's Watch, which makes it a smooth transition as both series are fully intertwined. Bodie is also still building his team, so we meet additional cast members who I hope will become part of the team and get future books. And I also enjoyed seeing Buck as a fully functioning part of the team, slowly healing and fighting his demons....I really hope we see more of him and his reclusive and wary friend...could they possibly find trust and romance together?
I look forward to Nick's book which is next....fireworks are guaranteed!

This book is off the charts filled with explosive suspense and complex characters. This is my first Kris Norris book and I will most definitely be looking for more.
When a simple mission in the Oregon wilderness ends in a brutal ambush by some kind of paramilitary group, and the loss of one of his teammates, head of Raven’s Security Bodie Page and his team are on the warpath for answers and determined to avenge their brother’s death. If it hadn’t been for Special Agent Rowan Scott answering their distress call they’d all be dead.
Rowan has her own agenda in that wilderness. She’s aware of the talent Bodie’s team has and they’ve worked in the same circles several times. There is a high level of respect on both sides. She won’t say no to working together if it helps her get to the bottom of why people are ending up seriously injured, missing, or dead in this rural area, especially since one of them is her dad. His accident was labeled a horrible accident but his body was never found. He’d been investigating a rare, bioluminescent species found in the ancient spruce forests in this region. With rumors saying clinical trials had shown possible medical breakthroughs in several extremely important areas.
It quickly becomes obvious likely that a private military company, whose only morals involve dollar signs, is willing to do anything at any cost to keep their organization secret. But, it will take multiple organizations working together in partnership to shut down the evil that may be working to develop a horrific biohazard.

An absolutely heart racing first story in this new series! Former Army Ranger Bodie Page is the leader of Raven’s Security. He along with former military members including Buck, Wade, and Eric, are on a routine mission when they encounter hostile fire. Overwhelmed, will they receive needed assistance before it is too late? They come upon National Park Service Special Agent Rowan Scott who joins in on their fight to survive. Raven, while continuing the search for her missing father, recognized Bodie who also works as a deputy at the Raven Cliffs sheriff department. Barely escaping with their lives, they know the battle is not over as they learn where men might be holding her father. They call in added assistance from their friend in the CIA, Nick who always has a technical device that can be used for their benefit. They travel through the roughest terrain, where taking the wrong step could get them killed. Her father, a doctor, was developing a new drug that could possibly be beneficial to those suffering from Alzheimer’s. As they regroup and finally make it out of the area, they form a plan to lead the mercenaries to their “kill box”. The attraction between Bodie and Rowan has been simmering as they fight for their lives. Will they find her father and live to fight another day? I really enjoyed Rowan, a strong woman and her ability to handle these strong men, with her sarcastic and humorous way of putting them in their place. If you’re looking for a high-octane start to a new series that basically took off from the first page, this is it! Former Army Ranger Bodie Page and his team at Raven’s Security (Buck, Wade, and Eric) find themselves in the crosshairs during a routine mission that goes south fast. The tension is immediate, and the stakes only get higher from there.
What really made this story stand out for me was Rowan Scott, a National Park Service Special Agent. She isn't just a "damsel in distress"—she is a powerhouse. I loved her ability to handle these intense military men with her sharp sarcasm and humor. She definitely knows how to put them in their place while holding her own in a firefight!
The things that make this so good are a desperate search for Rowan’s father, a doctor whose research into Alzheimer’s has made him a target for mercenaries. The Gritty Atmosphere: The author does a great job describing the rough terrain where one wrong step is fatal. Great Tech: Their CIA contact, Nick, brings in the cool gadgets that give the team a tactical edge. Simmering Romance: The chemistry between Bodie and Rowan is electric, building perfectly against the backdrop of their fight for survival.
And the final confrontation is everything that you could want and kept you on the edge of your seat Looking forward to more books in this great series

Won’t back down
Back in the Ravens world, but with a new spin off series. Bodie is up. He is the head/founder of Ravens Security. Rowan is a federal officer for the national parks. Their story starts with explosions and mercenaries attacking in the national forest and doesn’t slow down from there. Assistance for the park, the pursuit of Justice for their friend killed by the explosion and Rowan’s case comes from Buck (so thrilled to see him and how he is doing after the last series), Dalton, Nick (love his spy ways), and of course Greer and the men from Rescue. There also is assistance from two other women Sloan and Avery. Lots of deep secret and dark op situations, but the team doesn’t back down regardless of injury or risk. Bodie is hurt badly twice and so is Wade. The book ends with an HEA for the couple, but leaves some unanswered things for the health of her dad, Sloan and Nick, Dalton’s response to the events that mirrored his time in captivity, etc. it was great to see many familiar faces and to start a new series with such momentum. Can’t wait for more!

This is a fast-paced, hard to put down book. It has twists and turns, secret, explosions, shootouts and chemistry between two of the team. Former Ranger, Brodie Page is the head of Raven’s Security. This action packed story took off from the get go. What a great start to this series, a team of mismatched crazy heroes.
Bodie and his team walked into a lot more trouble than they expected. An ambush, what are these men hiding from the public? Rowan happened to be in the right place at the right time and help them to safety through a barrage of bullets.
Rowan believed her father dead, he was working on a medical breakthrough but it appears greed and power by the wrong agencies are behind a top secret plan to turn this into something evil.
Sparks are flying between Rowan and Bowie, a nice light touch between all the action.
This was a wonderfully exciting story, full of heart stopping moments. I can't wait for more.

This was my first book by this author but won’t be my last. It is action packed from the start with Bodie Page and his brothers in arms who went on a mission not knowing that they would be under attack with too many against them and not enough ammo to hold them off. They already lost one and another is critical. The help that is to come could be too late until Special Agent Rowan Scott, who has been searching for the men she holds responsible for her father’s disappearance, has come to their aid. She has been camping out in those woods and when she heard their call for backup, she helped. A great story finding out what was so important on that mountain and as they work together for answers trying to survive the danger, they find there just might be something special between them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Non stop action. I have great admiration for authors who can keep all the action straight. Bodie and Rowan are great lead characters who fall in love in the middle of a dangerous mission. It’s fun seeing characters from previous books so you’ll see Foster, Kash, Chase and Greer along with new ones. Lots of tension. Great dialogue. Rarely a dull moment. Could’ve used a bit more editing help. I don’t usually mention it but there were quite a few mistakes. You’ll still enjoy the book. Can’t wait for next one. Just wish it was coming a bit faster

My first time reading this author, and it won't be my last. Ms Norris provided an action-packed, page-turner filled with near-death recons, explosive action, and steamy romance. Once the main characters meet during a firefight, their attraction for each other begins. The FMC is an agent working in the National Park section. The MMC is a part-time deputy who also works for Raven's security. They join forces to take down the villains and find the truth about her father. if you like action, suspense, and romance, this is a story not to be overlooked

This is the first book I've read by Kris Norris and I will be reading many more. The story starts with a bang, literally, when Bodie looses one of his men to a landmine. He and his team are then chased by a team out to kill them. Special Agent Rowan is there is help get them out of this mess. But from then on it is Bodie and his team along with Rowan trying to solve the mysteries of Rowan' father's disappearance and why the heck were they attacked and to catch those out to kill them. Lots of action, it kept my attention to the end. I received an ARC and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

The book is okay, but too violent for me.
Bodie is too much of an alpha male. He gets hurt and checks himself out of the hospital. He goes about doing what ever like nothing ever happened. Nick came across as the same.
As with every new book I have read, lately, there is plenty of editing mistakes. I guess that is the norm.

This is book 1 of the Raven's Security series. It is an action-packed thriller featuring two great main characters: a former Army Ranger, Bodie Page, and Special Agent Rowan Scott. The story is set in Oregon and is full of wonderful descriptions of the landscape and the challenges it poses to our heroes.

The beginning started out insane! Took me a second to recognize Buck. Love that character!!!! Dalton is one amazing survivor. Love the Raven series. Foster's crew is always awesome!!! Rowan is a great medic a d the toughest agent. She was all in and a great driver! Wow! Can't wait for ThE next one. Where is Alistair??

An action thriller from the first page, and the author writes in such a way that it plays like an action movie in your head. The pacing is always spot on. I can’t imagine this kind of cross jurisdictional cooperation and rule bending in real life, but it makes for a good story, and you can’t let facts get in the way of a good story.
