The small town of Marion, North Carolina has a very large drug problem. Several deaths have been attributed to a seemingly dangerous opioid and the F.B.I. is now involved. Detective Vincent Flournoy Jr. has been investigating ever since the problem first reached the state's eastern border and even though some arrests have been made, the "big fish" is still out there.
Hunter Richards, a scrawny sixteen-year-old kid, youngest of three children has just discovered that his older brother is on drugs. And as devastating as the recent news, just as troubling is this unassuming teenager's violent mood swings as well as an increased strength that is beyond explanation.
Weeks pass. The search for answers continues. And now the opioid is being found in nearby states, creating even more attention. But could the answer be right in Marion's backyard---in the blood of Hunter Richards ...
