What was the last thriller you listened to that kept you guessing?
I received an advanced listener copy of this audio book from Podium Entertainment, and really enjoyed this story.
If you enjoy fast-paced suspense stories that are layered with corruption and high stakes, and a FMC you'll root for right from the start, this book delivers. The FMC Jane Cannon is sharp, disciplined, and fiercely loyal… and the reader/listener gets to watch everything unravel around her. The tension built quickly with new mysteries, twists, and turns, and characters I didn't know if I could trust.
The story weaves together corrupt agents, shifting alliances, medical personnel, complex family dynamics, and secrets at every turn. I especially loved the steady undercurrent of “who can she actually trust?” that created a just-one-more-chapter energy throughout.
The narration by Hilary Huber truly elevated the experience. She captured Jane’s grit and emotional weight beautifully. The pacing felt tight, the suspense hit at all the right moments, and it made this such an easy audiobook to binge.
The storyline felt satisfying and complete in the end, but there was just enough lingering mystery that I’m curious to see what happens next for Jane and the other agents. I’ll definitely be continuing this series in audio.
L. T. Ryan’s Blind Trust: Jane Cannon Series, Book 1 didn’t just hook me, it grabbed me by the collar, whispered “trust no one,” and then proved it chapter by chapter. Podium Audio, thank you for my gifted ALC, because apparently I needed a reminder that paranoia can be both entertaining and emotionally devastating.
This book wastes absolutely no time being rude to your nervous system. Jane Cannon is an FBI agent who believes in structure, loyalty, and doing things by the book, which is adorable considering how quickly that book is lit on fire. One failed undercover operation later, her partner is dead, her reputation is shredded, and suddenly she’s the most convenient villain in the room. The whiplash from respected agent to isolated suspect is brutal in the best way.
What really worked for me was how personal the betrayal feels. This isn’t some distant conspiracy where the bad guys twirl mustaches from the shadows. This is Jane sitting across from people she trusted, replaying conversations, questioning motives, and realizing the truth has been hiding in plain sight. The tension comes less from explosions and more from silence, looks held too long, and answers that don’t quite land. I found myself reading slower, not because the pacing drags, but because I was suspicious of everyone.
Jane herself is a fantastic lead. She’s smart, stubborn, emotionally bruised, and running on fumes. I loved that she’s not superhuman. She second-guesses herself. She makes mistakes. She gets angry and lets that anger drive her forward. That emotional realism grounded the story and made the stakes feel real instead of theatrical. When she risks everything to keep digging, it doesn’t feel reckless, it feels necessary.
The corruption plot is layered and satisfying without becoming convoluted. Dirty agents, missing evidence, and a crime family that seems far too comfortable around law enforcement create a constant sense of unease. The idea that criminals aren’t hiding from the FBI but working with them is handled with just enough restraint to keep it chilling instead of cartoonish. Every reveal feels earned, and every new piece of information tightens the net around Jane rather than letting her off the hook.
The audiobook experience deserves special praise. Hillary Huber delivers Jane’s internal conflict with just the right mix of steel and vulnerability. You can hear the exhaustion, the fury, and the determination in her voice, which adds an extra layer of intimacy to an already tense story. This is one of those audiobooks where you sit in your car a little longer because stopping feels wrong.
Fans of Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent and Lisa Gardner’s D.D. Warren will feel right at home here. The procedural elements are solid, the character work is sharp, and the suspense never lets up. But Blind Trust still manages to carve out its own space with a heroine who refuses to be quiet even when silence would be safer.
“There’s a special kind of terror in realizing the people sworn to protect you are the ones deciding whether you survive.”
This is a gritty, tightly written start to a series that clearly isn’t interested in playing nice. I finished it feeling satisfied, unsettled, and very ready for whatever Jane Cannon is forced to survive next.
This was my first time reading L.T. Ryan and K.T. Crow—and wow, what a ride. It absolutely will not be my last. I’m completely hooked on this series and already craving the next book. From the moment the undercover operation against Seattle’s most powerful crime family explodes in disaster, I was all in. FBI Special Agent Jane Cannon’s partner is dead, and instead of support, she’s the one under investigation. Suspended, isolated, and painted as the scapegoat, Jane is forced to fight not just criminals—but her own agency. The betrayal cuts deep, and you can feel the walls closing in around her.
As Jane peels back layer after layer of corruption, the story only gets more intense. Dirty agents. Disappearing evidence. A city where the line between law enforcement and organized crime is terrifyingly blurred. The twists kept coming, and every time I thought I had it figured out, the story took another sharp turn. I was glued to the pages, completely invested in Jane’s fight to clear her name and expose the truth.
A gritty, high-octane read. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Absolutely loved it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I’ve not read anything by these authors before and was looking for something new to sink my teeth into and I’m happy I found this.
Our FMC, Jane, is strong and determined but also human. She makes mistakes, lets her personal feelings sometimes cloud her judgement, but not in an obvious, naive way, which is such a nice change of pace.
The supporting cast of characters are all really well portrayed, some are annoying and childish (the cousin), but that’s exactly how they’re supposed to be.
The plot was super intriguing and kept me on the edge of my seat.
The only reason I haven’t given this book 5 stars is because it could use a better edit, there are a few grammatical errors, added words etc., not a lot, but enough that I took notice.
It is in Jane Cannon’s life and what a family she has… Growing up with Uncle Chris and Team Ten members helped shape this girl into one savvy investigator! This book twists and turns with surprises chapter by chapter. I almost needed a page of notes to keep track of who’s who and what’s what. In the end Jane expands her family with Agent Sullivan whom she finally starts to call Jenn. They are going to make a good team it seems. Going to read the next installment of this series!
A quick read. What I liked: the characters; the two different teams; Jane’s family; her snarky self; Jane’s curious dynamics with other women; the food (made me very hungry); not knowing all of the stories of everyone. What I didn’t like: the opening chapter was so much darker than the rest of the book; the “mole” seemed far fetched; Phillip’s revenge seemed incredibly warped. Overall, a good book.
Just finished this story and the latest Jack Noble,.both 5 stars. The reading is easy, the stories easy to follow and the characters you never forget. L.T.Ryan books are full of all the emotions, intrigue, suspense and eventually love. Eagerly waiting for the next editions because I'm guaranteed a great story.
Story unfinished. Told to buy the next book to get the rest of the story. I bought this book to get the entire story, not be subjected to retail blackmail. I'm happy to pay for a good story, but I refuse to be forced down an endless rabbit hole. I prefer more honest transactions between seller (author) and buyer (reader).
This book is so good! The heroine of the story has you hooked from the beginning, and the action keeps you on the edge of your seat! Eagerly awaiting the next book in the series for more Cannon (and hopefully Rapp;)
Wow! A new hero to admire, Jane Cannon! E -Marine turned into an FBI agent. Smart, tough, and takes no crap from anyone. Thanks L.T. Ryan and K.T. Crowe. Looking forward to many more stories about Jane Cannon.
Although I enjoyed the Jane Cannon character I thought the storyline was "all over the place", disjointed, too many useless characters, not at all the L.T. Ryan books and writing I'm used to... Maybe I'll give it another try, we'll see!
Yeah, I'm in. I like Jane Cannon. I like her "family" of SEALs as well. Together, they're going to be an unbeatable team that I'll be watching for. Plenty of action, excellent writing, and characters that make you want to root for them. Bring it.
Would have gone 4.5 if i could. Good new series hit the ground running. Complex storyline well explained didn’t lose me. Liked the characters and want more

If you’re into gritty, high-stakes thrillers, then Blind Trust is for you! This first book of a new series follows a betrayed FBI agent as she navigates a web of crime families and deep rooted corruption. With a plot that races forward, it’s a perfect fit for fans of fast-paced, tension filled stories that blend procedural detail with a relentless sense of danger.
What sets this book apart is its strong heroine, a determined woman who refuses to be silenced. Jane stands for honesty and integrity.
The stakes are high, and the twists keep you guessing, making it an exhilarating ride from start to finish.
🎧 Audiobook experience: Hillary Huber is amazing as usual! She captures Jane’s prickly “doesn’t play nice with others” personality so well. I could feel Jane’s frustration and fury at the constant roadblocks keeping her from solving the case.
Blind Trust is a pulse-pounding thriller that you won’t want to miss. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Thank you to Podium for the free copy of the book.
🎧 I got the opportunity to listen to this book which was narrated by Hilary Huber. She did a wonderful job with this tension filled police procedural.
This is book 1 in the Jane Cannon series- FBI Agent Jane Cannon is about t have her world burned down. She’s built her world around discipline, loyalty and trust but not she’s under investigation, isolated and suspended.
Jane must risk everything to expose the conspiracy.
This had such great intrigue and I’m definitely curious to see where the rest of the series goes. Strong and bold, Jane makes a great heroine and we need more of those characters.
Thank you to the authors, L.T. Ryan and K.T. Crowe and Podium Entertainment for the opportunity to listen to this book. I received a gifted copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.
This is a gritty police procedural involving corruption! This started off great but then I felt the pacing slowed a bit. I really like the Jane character - always love a strong FMC!! The narration on this one was really good too! 👏
Thank you partner Podium Audio for the gifted ALC in exchange for my honest review! ❤️
I won’t lie, I was a little bored with this one. I expected a lot more action or mystery than this had. It was hard to keep my attention. I listened to this as an ALC, and normally I don’t have an issue keeping my attention with things. This one took a lot for me to stay in it. The narrator did absolutely amazing and podium did a great job producing it. But the book itself was just boring.
Thankful to have been gifted this ALC from podium! The narrator did a wonderful job at portraying this story! I enjoyed this book, tho I will say it did feel a bit dragged out. I love a good suspense/thriller but this one felt lacking in some ways. The ending wrapped up nicely!
