4 Outsmarted By An Innocent Stars

This continuing serial by Annie Winters and Tony West carries on right where it left off... Our characters are running for their lives while at the same time being drawn to each other.
Picture the feel of watching a well produced action thriller... a cross between Bourne, Bond, some Mission Impossible and a nod to Firefly. The writing takes you on a very fast paced read with moments of sensuality played against the possible clock ticking and any moment things could go bad... very bad.
What is so engaging is the thread of longing and desire Mia has for Jax. She will not be deterred. She has decided this is the course of action she wants and uses this desire to spur her on... to overcome fright, loneliness and confusion. She pushes herself to do things she never thought she would and we cheer for her...this little lost woman/child is coming into her own... do not underestimate her...
Jax has his hands and mind full. Almost everyone he thought was clear and in his corner... may not be... someone has become a turncoat and he will stop at nothing to clear his name and now protect Mia. Mia is everything he stays away from... but Mia pulls him in with the seduction of her
look and want of him.... these two will end up together and it will be an experience for both.
So, if you like things which need to be figured out... with some humor and large doses of promised chemistry and seduction, then this is a very engaging series. We have been promised the next part very soon and I cannot wait to see what happens next... for the cliffy was right out of the best thrillers.

Mia and Jax's story continue and even if Jax sends her away in the beginning they eventually find their way back to each other. And after that sparks start flying.

Jax and Mia’s wild ride continues and picks right off where it last left off in the first installment of The Vigilante Lover series. Right off the opening pages, Mia and Jax tries to dodge kill shots, darts, car chases, and all those high tech spy tracking devices. They are on the run and trying to assess what the hell is going on and who they can trust. After temporarily escaping from the other Vigilantes, Jax finally realizes that Mia is just an innocent civilian and is curious as to how she ended up residing in a house that was part of the safes houses operated by a Vigilante. Questions begins to emerge, was Mia’s aunt a Vigilante? Not only does Jax has to deal with that, he soon learns the truth of his friend and slowly things begins to unravel on who is trustworthy in the organization. And of course, there is the added sexual tension and chemistry between Jax and Mia. For Mia, all she has left is Jax and so she wants to stick with him but he keeps pushing her away for her safety but when danger threatens the safety of Mia, he realizes its best that she sticks by him. When Jax tries to protect and ensure the safety of Mia, will protecting her be his demise?
This second installment of The Vigilante Series reminded me of Jason Bourne, James Bond and Ethan Hunt of the Mission Impossible. If you are looking for romance, then I’m sorry to disappoint you because this second installment was more of a suspense action thriller storyline. Bombs, high tech equipments, car chases, GPS trackers, and all those things that you associate with spy movies were a major part of the storyline. This book was more like watching a Jason Bourne/Mission Impossible type of movie. It was a fast paced read that will definitely have you holding your breath especially since this book literally ended with a BANG of a cliffhanger!!! Will Jax and Mia be able to see another day? I can’t wait for volume 3 to see what’s next for Jax and Mia as they try to figure what whom in the Vigilante organization wants them dead.

If you read the first volume (which you really should have) then this one falls right into place for you. Jax and Mia are on the run, they need to escape the silo without being caught but they are surrounded so what are they to do....no fear Jax is on the case, I swear he's better then James Bond!
In this volume we are on a high speed chase, hiding out in a barn, a little rope fun, some rope play that's not so fun and Jax telling Mia "Tonight is for discovery" well hot damn! This is one ride I don't want to get off of.
And I must say that we were left with one heck of a cliffhanger!!!
Can't wait for the Third volume!

After finishing Book #1 and doing some research on Annie Winters, I discovered that she is a fan of the major cliffhangers and that after reading Book #1 I prepared myself for what the ending of Volume #2 would be like and I am glad that I had pre-warned myself as it did end in another cliffhanger. Catching up from Volume #1 Jax and Mia are on the run and they have just escaped from the compound and met up with Jax's friends Sam and Collette. Collette has been instructed to drop Mia back at her home and for her to forget about what she has learned over the few days but of course Mia is falling for Jax and wants him, no matter what happens. Mia first heads home and takes a look around, was her aunt really part of this secret organisation as like Mia there is no record of her Aunt. That's when Mia notices the rug has moved and underneath it is a hatch , she opens the hatch and what does she find - guns and special agent materials. It seems to that she has a visitor by the name of Klaus - the friend Jax has been told is dead , but is Klaus really a goodie or has he turned to the dark side ? Will Mia be able to reach Jax in time as she steals a car and heads to find Collette and the others ? Is Mia ready to get her life turned upside down and be on the run with a fugitive ? Could Mia's parents have been part of the Vigilante group , when it's revealed how they died ?

I love this series. Lately I've been watching a lot of movies, and most are either way too boring or unnecessarily gross and disgusting for shock value over plot. This action packed romance isn't any of those things. It's sexy, exciting and funny too:

This book ends with an explosive cliff hanger that had me instantly back to Amazon to buy Part III! I'm really enjoying this exciting ride & can't wait to see what happens next...

In True Annie and Tony style, this book was packed with emotion, thrilling suspense, and more twists to the story line. Jax tries his hardest to get rid of Mia, and Mia tries her hardest to let go. The cliffhanger in this book is INSANE and I can't stop thinking about it. You won't want to miss out on this series at all. GET READING PEOPLE!!!

Wowza!!! This audiobook was just as sexy as the first one, and once again, it leaves off on an epic cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for more!!
The Vigilante's Lover series is really my first time at listening to romantic suspense, and it's been thrilling so far. This series is sexy, it's intense, and it's full of intrigue! The story itself is fantastic, and the characters are very compelling...especially Jax! I'm so smitten with Jax. He's a sexy, sexy dude. And Mia is very mysterious. She seems like she's just a plain, ordinary girl who hasn't really done anything exciting, but the further Mia intertwines into Jax's life, the clearer it becomes that there's something about her that none of them know about. It's extremely interesting and I'm very excited to learn more!
As for the narration, I'm still really loving Gordon Anthony Palagi who read Jax's chapters, but once again, Samantha Mantin's chapters just weren't that great to me. I just find her voice fairly irritating, but thankfully, I did manage to get used to her, and Jax's chapters are so awesome that I don't mind quite as much. :P I'd recommend these audiobooks for Gordon Anthony Palagi's narration alone! His voice is fantastic!!! It fits perfectly with the genre, and always keeps my attention.
I'm loving The Vigilante's Lover series so far, and can't wait to start Volume 3! I'd recommend these audiobooks (and their ebook counterparts) to romantic suspense fans, especially if you love secret societies...or rope. :P

So, finally! I get to know Mia and Jax on a deeper level. Phew! Isn’t that lovely? Anyways, the story picks up with Mia kissing and straddling Jax in the driver’s seat and Jax trying to drive and get the hell out of capture. It’s a one hell of a ride, actually.
I’m liking Mia more and more. She wants to be like her mother, and with the first taste of danger, she’s like an addict that wants to have a fix. And Jax, well I’m taking into liking him.
More gadgets, a world full of adventure? Intrigues to uncover, more mysteries mixed into the story. Darn, I am just giddy and excited to get to the next book.

OH MY Gosh The cliffhanger is going to be the death of me .... You always have me screaming at my dang iPad by the end of the book ...it's almost commical ....I have to laugh . But I just want book 3 please . But as I have said before Annie and Tony make a hell of a team writing together and I look forward to reading the rest of this series and anything else you might write together. Now my review ....... Well Mia has show us in this book she is not just some country girl that is just gonna sit back and and take no crap she is gonna go after what she wants. After being sent back home and finding out that her home is indeed a safe house and her aunt might indeed been a vigilante at one time ,, someone come after Mia again and she escapes and she escapes and steals the car . Which we presume its Klaus , Mia takes off and goes looking for Jax . She isn't going to stop until she finds him and she finally finds a way to get word to him to meet her . And they do. .and boy do the Sparks fly then. ... Great story. ,

Jax and Mias wild ride continues. Jax is still looking for answers and his life is now at stake. He escapes one situation just to end up thrown into another one. Mia is now so involved that he has no choice but to try to protect her too. Mia is slowly realizing the danger that she has been thrown into but she is one tough lady. Even Jax is pretty impressed with how well she handles herself.
There is so much action packed into this book that there is no way you can put it down once you've started it. I love Jax and I love the fact that Mia has thrown him for a loop. These two are the perfect couple. Things even get hot and heavy with these two in this book. This one has a huge cliffhanger but it is well worth the wait I think. I'm loving this series!!

WOW!!!! I just finished reading part 2 and I want part 3 now!! This book begins as part 1 ends and the action just doesn't stop. Mia and Jax have escaped the silo, but they are still being hunted. Jax sends Mia home but trouble finds her again. When she escapes again she runs right to Jax. During their time apart they both learn that all is not what it seems and they both must be on guard if they want to survive. There is some very sexy scenes but there is more action than you expect but it is awesome all the same. This book ends in a HUGE CLIFFHANGER, so BEWARE!! The good thing is we get part 3 next month and I will be waiting.

Mia and jax's story continues and it just keeps getting better. We get our suspense, spy and steaminess all wrapped in one.
With danger around every corner Jax enlist the help of old friends briefly and don't we just love it.

I am really loving this series. It's full of action, intrigue, mystery, and the HOT, HOT Jax! I am faIling hard for him! I still believe Mia has more power than she knows about so curious to see where this story goes.

Book 2 starts right where book 1 ended, Jax and Mia are on the run after the Silo escape. This story has an action packed story line with the Romance fitting in just perfectly. It's exciting, sexy, and laugh out loud funny in places too. The only thing I don't like about this “series” is that it is a serial so it stops off right in the middle of major situations with edge of your seat cliffhangers—however, it is available now to purchase as a combined set. I am listening to it on Audible with the romance package (so it's a freebie when you purchase the subscription) individually and I really like the narrators. I am on to the next one now to see how this explosive situation pans out!

Mia's and Jax's adventures continue. This is a fast-paced action movie, um, novel, with a touch of romance and mystery. Sam and Colette are interesting secondary characters, kind of like James Bond's Q and a Fast and Furious driver. This novel doesn't have the darkness of other romance suspense novels I've read.

The suspense!! I can't stop reading it's so good! I love the plot, and it's constantly keeping me guessing. There isn't much romance tbh and he doesnt seem to be all in to have a relationship yet but I dont care because I just wanna know what's gonna happen. I love all the gadgets, I want a super spy car!! And all the knots!!

Oh my. This ride just keeps on getting more dangerous, more risky and all the more interesting and I just couldn't stop reading. Such an adventure for Mia. Yes this one gives Mia so many adventures that she had never experienced before. She starts searching for answers and starts finding things along with that the vigilante secrets and jax keep her in her toes. Loved loved loved this one😍😍😍😍😍

Volume 2 starts off exactly where we were left with volume 1: Mia and Jax are on the run from the Vigilante’s . At this point in the book, we are left with quite a few questions: who is Mia Morrow? Why is Jax de Luca on the outs with the Vigilante’s considering he used to be one? “Jax is a Vigilante, a part of a powerful underground network of spies and law enforcement.” Who can they trust? Was Mia’s aunt a Vigilante? These are just a FEW of the questions we’re left with!
Jax has come to the conclusion that Mia is just an innocent civilian. He is now more than ever determined to remove Mia from the situation. He needs her to go back to her life and he needs to focus on clearing his name of the supposed crime he didn’t commit against the Vigilante’s and in doing so, he needs to get this beautiful distraction out of his sights. “It’s the girl. She’s setting off a buzz inside me that doesn’t respond to my training. I want to protect her, keep her safe.” With the help of his friends, Sam and Colette, Jax returns Mia to her home. Mia is completely saddened by the fact that Jax could just return her without offering to let her stay with him. She knows if she goes back to her aunt’s empty house, she will be alone. “But I can’t go back there. I have nothing. No one. And this life? Narrow escapes. Car chases. Danger. It fits me. I know it.” (Mia). Mia is now left to her own devises and has to figure out where she fits in the world...is she just Mia, a normal civilian or is she more a part of this Vigilante’s world than both her and Jax realize?
In the “safety” of her own home, Mia starts finding bits and pieces of the Vigilante’s and digs up more and more questions that leave her confused and questioning things about her life she’s never questioned before. It’s like I’m humming from the inside out, vibrating, anticipating.” –Mia This volume had a touch of self discovery for both Mia and Jax. Can something actually happen between these two characters in between the car chases and bombs?
This is full of adrenaline packed scenes and keeps you wondering “What is going to happen next?” There are bombs, even more high tech equipment is introduced, car chases, GPS trackers, and all those fun gadgets that one would associate with spy movies were a major part of this volume. I, for one, can NOT wait for the next volume so I can try to piece together all the questions I have! BRING ON VOLUME 3!!
**Be warned, this volume does leave us on a BANG of a clliffy!** I am learning real fast that Annie and Tony like to leave us on cliffhangers! But it is SO WORTH IT!

Jax has come to the conclusion that Mia is just an innocent civilian. He is now more than ever determined to remove Mia from the situation. He needs her to go back to her life and he needs to focus on clearing his name of the supposed crime he didn’t commit against the Vigilante’s and in doing so, he needs to get this beautiful distraction out of his sights. “It’s the girl. She’s setting off a buzz inside me that doesn’t respond to my training. I want to protect her, keep her safe.” With the help of his friends, Sam and Colette, Jax returns Mia to her home. Mia is completely saddened by the fact that Jax could just return her without offering to let her stay with him. She knows if she goes back to her aunt’s empty house, she will be alone. “But I can’t go back there. I have nothing. No one. And this life? Narrow escapes. Car chases. Danger. It fits me. I know it.” (Mia). Mia is now left to her own devises and has to figure out where she fits in the world...is she just Mia, a normal civilian or is she more a part of this Vigilante’s world than both her and Jax realize?

If I thought the first part of this story started off with a bang, then this part just blew me out of the water. Both the suspense and the romance are developing into something that is nothing short of a wonderful surprise. The tension level is slowly rising and the intrigue continues to keep me utterly captivated. Created to deliver the perfect blend of killer suspense intertwined with a highly dangerous romance, Vigilante’s Lover part 2 is nothing short of being fabulously powerful and elusively seductive.
Without warning Mia finds herself coming full circle while trying to get a handle on her short-lived adventure. Not only has it awakened her dormant adventurous spirit, but it has also tempted her with a passion that she dared never to imagine. Torn between doing what she is comfortable with and yet longing to once again feel more alive than ever, Mia begins to make choices that she hopes will put her on a path to bring her what she wants more than anything. Jax is faced with the insurmountable task of trying to solve the mystery of his fugitive status. He puts a plan into motion to not only win back his life, but to regain his position that was ruthlessly ripped out from underneath him. One small hiccup in his plan is the reemergence of Mia back into his life. She is determined and tenacious, and above all he learns that no matter what he can’t underestimate her resolve.
I can’t say how much I enjoyed once again being a part of Mia and Jax’s world. Theirs is a complicated, bizarre, and treacherous world, but together they might just be able to conquer their fears and their goals. It’s such a breathtaking experience to watch a simple, sheltered woman like Mia find solace and hope in Jax’s high octane life. If I didn’t know better, it felt like Jax’s world was in her blood. Her parents and aunt left her with more questions than answers, and yet she courageously decides to take control of her life rather than let it slip by. While Jax can live his life on his own, he is starting to understand that once he has found his other half, there is no way that he can ever let her go. Rather than being a burden, Mia is quickly becoming an asset to him in more ways than even he knows.
Annie Winters and Tony West have graced us with another larger-then-life peek into the incredibly pulse-pounding and highly addicting world of Jax and Mia. The beautiful blending of their astounding talents makes for an amazing and extraordinary story that is sure to dazzle your imagination while it sizzles with passion. Needless to say, I am impatiently waiting for the next installment.

Loved! The mystery, romance and danger all ramped up in this installment. Full review later this week.

4.5 stars The mystery, romance and danger all ramped up in this installment. I loved the first book, but this time around I found myself even more invested in Jax and Mia, and have a million more questions to top it off. While I have been devouring contemporaries lately, this sci-fi suspense was been so refreshing and totally addictive.
I had read book #1 a while ago, so before I started I reread the last chapter of book 1 to refresh my memory. That did help as I am a bit forgetful, but the author was so good and put quite a few reminders in this book for people with bad memories (like myself) and I was right back into the story and barely missed a beat. Thank you, Ms. Winters!
Mia had appeared to be a regular civilian, but there is something special about her, that much is definitely obvious. However, we don’t really know the details yet. She is questioning all she thought she knew to be true, and her life has changed more dramatically than she could have ever imagined. She is also very drawn to Jax, and not just because he is a specimen of a man, but because he has this quality about him that exudes genius, bossiness, confidence and pure bravery. Oh, and he’s a lover that is out of this world.
Speaking of Mr. DeLuca’s lover status…let me tell you…the romance was hot, and while it definitely advances, there is still such a push and pull feel to it that drove me wild. I can’t even… and I MEAN EVEN deal with the hot scene that happened in the OMG SPOILER HERE SORRY NOT SORRY.
The double crossings are starting to surface, as well as just how huge the conspiracy is. However, I’m not convinced all is as it seems to be revealing. I have a feeling there will be double-double crossings and I love that.
Some of the sci-fi was a little over the top with the technology. I went with it for the sake of the story, but it just was a little too much. So many things were solved too quickly, dismantled, devised etc. and that part wasn’t so believable.
The ending was a big fat cliffhanger…but I have faith that it will be ok. It has to be!
Rec this? YES! If you love a hot romantic suspense with a sci-fi element this is a must for your TBR.

The Vigilante's Lover II is the sequel to this new, fresh addictive series by Annie Winters and Tony West. At the end of the first part, Jax De Luca finally realizes that Mia Morrow isn't a Vigilante but just a civilian. He knows he can't keep her with him no matter how much he wants her. He needs to return her to the safety of her home, but Mia is determined to stay in Jax's life. She wants to learn all there is about his world so she can take part in it. She has nothing left for her in Tennessee but now she has Jax. She doesn't want to let him go.
Jax is still a fugitive and now there is an order out there wanting him dead. Now more than ever, he has the urge to protect Mia by keeping her far from him. But how can he protect a person who doesn't want to stay away from danger. This book continues to be action packed and exciting. If you thought you like the first one, this one is even better.
The Vigilante's Lover II continues the story of Jax and Mia in this thrilling sequel. The story just gets better and better. The dialogue and the writing is great. Once you start, you just can't put it down. Annie Winters and Tony West are just spectacular. They are geniuses. This series has me captivated and craving more. The first book left out with a cliffhanger and this was ALSO did! So beware... I NEED the next book NOW! Its just that great. Trust me if you aren't ready this series yet, you better get started ASAP.
