Some secrets are not meant to be found. Oliver Battolo just unlocked a hundred million of them.
His father's quest is over, but a new, more dangerous one has just begun. Stalked by relentless enemies and haunted by a seductive entity in his visions, Oliver's inheritance is a curse that is blurring the line between reality and hallucination.
The only way forward is to embrace the madness, following a trail of forgotten art to a place where the world is thin and the past is not dead. There, on July 18th, a fated appointment promises either enlightenment ... or destruction.
While the first book ("24")—aside from its somewhat surreal nature with an adventure-detective flair—had a lot of philosophical depth and wise life reflections, the second one ("July 18") is quite a treat with a complex plot straight out of a good-thriller. It perfectly complements its predecessor, adding an extra layer of suspense through unexpected twists and the unique lens of every figure involved. We also get to see the main character, Oliver Battolo, from a completely different perspective. His "new" behaviour made me even stop liking him at some point but since he eventually came to his senses, won me back by the end, hehe ;)
Even though "July 18", just like "24", is a work of fiction, it interestingly weaves in real-world themes and some vivid details—like for example describing various places across the globe during Oliver's crazy journeys as he's trying to solve the puzzle left by his father.
It also adds more context around bitcoin, which after finishing the first book should feel completely natural even for newcomers to the topic. Honestly, I actually find it quite insightful (the information provided is accurate and can help you dive deeper into the subject). The same goes for art—one of the themes explored in both books.
With its engaging flow and intriguing concepts, the whole book makes you feel like you're inside the story, not just reading it. I don't want to spoil too much of the plot, but I sincerely recommend both books, starting with "24".
