Kooper and Ruby

Kooper and Ruby have been dancing around each other for years but now Kooper needs to protect Ruby. Ruby is a club princess who really doesn’t fit with the club. There is plenty of family drama and suspense that kept me turning pages just to see what would happen next.

Finally Ruby's story! She's been in the background of most (if not all) of the other books and we've seen her back and forth arguing/flirting with Kooper for years. I needed to see inside of her head, especially since she grew up in the club instead of being an outside like the other women.

The first half or so is a recap of how their relationship began years before when Kooper first started protecting her. I know that it gives the full picture, but I was waiting to catch up to the present so I kind of sped through it. Once things were current, I was so frustrated on Ruby's behalf and almost wanted her to leave the club. If they're going to treat her like an outside after everything, forget them.

There's a lot of action and the end was interesting. I'm curious about the next book and need more of Natalie please!

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own. Thank you to the author and Hidden Gems for the copy.

If you have followed the series, you will not want to miss Ruby's story. Although this book starts as a recap of other books, it can be read as a standalone as it is seen from Kooper and Ruby's POV. Theirs is a slow burn romance that starts out with Kooper being a distant bodyguard to Ruby. As time passes, he sees beneath the surface of what she presents to everyone as club princess. There is plenty of animosity between the two, as Ruby doesn't fit in with the club or as a regular citizen. Throughout the book, there is family drama, betrayal, lies and definitely suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Because it does cover a few years, the author did a fantastic job of making the story flow seamlessly and keeps your interest.

The early part to this story is a big recap of how Ruby and Kooper’s relationship started, which felt a bit slow, I would’ve preferred more focus on the actual story but once it caught up to the present it was more interesting.

The action was solid and the ending has made me curious for the next book.

This was a decent book with interesting characters. I was frustrated with Kooper at times-- for example, on one hand, he doesn't want Ruby to get a job because it would increase his workload; on the other, he criticizes her for being financially dependent on her father. He doesn't see that he's part of the problem.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is an exciting book that had me all caught up in Koop and Ruby. Well written with great cast of characters that brought this story alive and kept me glued to the pages. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
