The first time I laid eyes on him my heart skipped a beat.

My obsession began the way all obsessions do…with a spark. A small, seemingly insignificant flicker that quickly took root.

He was pure, liquid light. A sunshine boy with a heart of gold.

He turned my world up-side-down. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t let him out of my sight.

Ever wondered what happens when red flags and green flags collide? If so, you’re about to find out.

Heart is an obsessive, swoony, stalker-y MM romance featuring the biggest green flag in existence, and a broken boy you can’t help falling in love with.

I'm Jesse, and I write contemporary and paranormal MM romance.

Whether my characters are born magical, or whether magic is something they make between the sheets, I strive to take the reader into the mind of the narrator. My ultimate goal is to leave the reader feeling like they’ve made a new friend or have spent a few hours flirting with a brand-new book boyfriend.

I love coffee, chocolate and daydreaming, in no particular order. I love conflicted characters, lust at first sight and angst – no seriously, ALL the angst. Give it to me!

Holy SMOKES ! This was absolutely beautiful. And wild. And crazy. And just.. wow. Although you can make out where it’s going, there are lots of surprises I didn’t see coming, and Jesse really writes poetry. FULL RTC. I loved them!

———————————

There is nothing like finishing up the year with another absolutely beautiful read from Jesse H Reign. Poetry. Beautiful. Surprising. Everything.

Oh, and yet another book that is enjoyed best as a complete surprise. So, I’m not tellin ya nothing. Not a damn thing. Sorry, not sorry. I’ve typed and deleted about a million things here. Ah this point I’ll just tell you how this book made me feel.

At first I was confused, wondering what was happening, why, who, what was going on. In an intriguing way of course. The best way. The way that leaves you wanting more. So I kept reading. Then I felt curious. Curious because I started to put some pieces together. Curious because I had no answers, and more questions. Curious about some secrets. Some things. Lots of curiosity bouncing around. I was still hooked, kept reading.

I made it to the “romance” part of this book and just fell in love. Fell head over heels in love with these two. Their connection. Their conversation. Their quiet love. Their sunrises and sunsets. Their inside thoughts and feelings.. and their outwardly ones too.

This is where the poetry comes in. The absolutely beautiful love making. The sights, the sounds, the FEELINGS 😭 Beautiful.

I knew right away there was no way this book wasn’t a 5⭐️ read for me. I wasn’t surprised. But so so happy.

Lennon and Connor will live rent free in my head for the rest of time. I’ll always remember their love. Their hearts.

That’s all. Enjoy every sunrise ❤️

Heart is a fantastic emotional romance between Lennon and Connor, who are both going through a bunch of changes, and with being new roommates, their romance is slow-moving as their friendship takes the focus for most of their story, as they slowly begin to let down their walls for one another.

Overall, I really enjoyed the slower nature of this story and how vulnerable both Lennon and Connor were with one another. They quickly unraveled their most private thoughts and feelings with one another, making this such a powerful story where their devoted care and love for one another made for such a compelling story.

"𝙸 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚕𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚜𝚞𝚌𝚌𝚎𝚜𝚜𝚏𝚞𝚕. 𝙰𝚕𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚌𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚘𝚕 𝚖𝚢𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚏. 𝙰𝚕𝚖𝚘𝚜𝚝 𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚙𝚞𝚝 𝚑𝚒𝚖 𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚘𝚏 𝚖𝚢 𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚍.

𝙷𝚒𝚜 𝚜𝚖𝚒𝚕𝚎 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚖𝚢 𝚍𝚘𝚠𝚗𝚏𝚊𝚕𝚕."

This book started out with a completely different tone to how it ended. When this story begins, Lennon is in a dark place. He's depressed. Not himself. You are aware something awful must have happened to trigger the darkness in him, but it isn't until almost the end of the story that we find out the details. All we know is that Lennon hasn't been in a good way for some time now and when he finally begins to feel things again, the catalyst is the innocent, yet joyous smile of a stranger named Connor.

"𝙱𝚎𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚗𝚞𝚖𝚋 𝚒𝚜 𝚊 𝚙𝚎𝚌𝚞𝚕𝚒𝚊𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚗𝚐. 𝙸 𝚍𝚘𝚗'𝚝 𝚛𝚎𝚖𝚎𝚖𝚋𝚎𝚛 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚎𝚡𝚊𝚌𝚝 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎 𝚘𝚛 𝚍𝚊𝚢 𝚒𝚝 𝚜𝚝𝚊𝚛𝚝𝚎𝚍, 𝚘𝚗𝚕𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚖𝚢 𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚌𝚎𝚗𝚝 𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚘 𝚒𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚙𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚏𝚞𝚕. 𝚂𝚘 𝚙𝚊𝚒𝚗𝚏𝚞𝚕, 𝚜𝚘 𝚊𝚐𝚘𝚗𝚒𝚣𝚒𝚗𝚐, 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚋𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚝𝚒𝚖𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚗𝚞𝚖𝚋𝚗𝚎𝚜𝚜 𝚌𝚊𝚖𝚎, 𝙸 𝚍𝚒𝚍𝚗'𝚝 𝚏𝚒𝚐𝚑𝚝 𝚒𝚝. 𝙸 𝚍𝚒𝚍𝚗'𝚝 𝚖𝚒𝚗𝚍 𝚒𝚝 𝚋𝚎𝚌𝚊𝚞𝚜𝚎 𝚒𝚝 𝚠𝚊𝚜 𝚊 𝚛𝚎𝚜𝚙𝚒𝚝𝚎 𝚏𝚛𝚘𝚖 𝚍𝚎𝚜𝚙𝚊𝚒𝚛."

I'll admit. I worried for Connor for a bit. Lennon seemed a bit unhinged there and I didn't know if this book was going to go someplace darker than it had. Thankfully, I worried for naught. Connor is honestly the most sunshiney, glass half-full guy, that I don't think darkness would ever dare touch him. This man was on the brink of death. He could have given up. But he didn't. Connor fought like hell to get back to the people he loved and then he spent the rest of his time bringing his infectious happiness to all he met him. I think life would be a lot better if we all had someone like Connor in our lives to remind of us the good.

The romance was a slow progression. Lennon is hurting. Connor is well aware of this and puts his effort into being the friend that Lennon so obviously needs. What's wonderful about that, is that it shows Lennon that even though he thought he was alone, he isn't. And it also makes Lennon realize that maybe the people he keeps pushing away are doing the same thing. Just trying to be good friends and be there for someone they care about.

"𝙼𝚢 𝚑𝚎𝚊𝚛𝚝 𝚋𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚜 𝚏𝚘𝚛 𝚢𝚘𝚞, 𝙻𝚎𝚗𝚗𝚘𝚗. 𝙸𝚝 𝚋𝚎𝚊𝚝𝚜 𝚕𝚒𝚔𝚎 𝚒𝚝'𝚜 𝚑𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚠𝚑𝚎𝚗 𝙸'𝚖 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚢𝚘𝚞."

Falling in love with Connor wasn't a cure for Lennon's struggles, but it was definitely the thing that started him on his path of healing. Without Connor, I don't know how long it would have taken Lennox to reach out for the help he needed. All I know is I'm glad these two found each other and I'm so happy how everything turned out in the end.

For me, Connor Lockwood, the sun doesn’t come up in the sky. It comes up in your eyes.”
Jesse is so skilled at creating incredibly realistic characters. Each character is so well rounded with endearing quirks and foibles that pulled me into the book right from page 1. I think I've said this before, but you don't simply read a Jesse H Reign book, you experience it. I felt myself falling in love with Connor's character along with Lennon.
I want you a lot, but more than that, I want to take care of you.” Something changes near his eyes, around his mouth. He’s still mainly soft, like always, but there’s a little steel in him I haven’t seen before. “I want to make sure you’re whole before I take you apart.”

The book is this slow build of an unquestionable, unavoidable, and undeniable love that is utterly inevitable. Plus stalking, because why not 😂. Once you find your soulmate you gotta keep them around, right? This made me feel the full range of emotions, and I found it difficult to put down. I figured out the ending pretty early on, so I got to enjoy all the little hints, foreshadowing and symbolism that Jesse packed into the book. She's so good at her craft and that's why I will always, always be back for more, no matter what it is that she's writing about.
“What have you done to me, Connor?” I whisper. He smiles and his eyes slide shut slowly.
“I don’t know, but whatever it is, you did it to me first.”

I loved seeing the little nods to Jesse's other book in this one; the minor way Heart ties together with Rent: Paid in Full was really fun to figure out. I also really liked Connor's obsession with the sunrise and his unique outlook on life. My favourite parts of the book though, were Lennon's inner monologues about how powerless he was in the face of Connor's smile. He fell so hard for Connor and I just ate up every bit of it. Heart had some of the funniest lines I've read all year, and also some of the most heartbreaking. I think Jesse is a bit of a sadist but I'm here for it. 😂

Heart is a MM romance story about Lennon and Connor.

Lennon is a twenty-four year old broken boy who is obsessed with Connor, a twenty-two year old sunshine boy. Lennon stalks Connor, and ends up getting a job in the housing department at the university where Connor is a student. When Connor posts a flyer looking for a roommate, Lennon tries to hold back, but he eventually reaches out to him about the apartment. They have an instant connection when they meet, and Lennon ends up moving in with Connor.

Lennon has gone through something big and carries a lot of pain. Connor sees this and is nothing but patient and supportive of Lennon. Connor may have a crush on Lennon, but he wouldn’t ever put pressure on him. He would be his friend if that’s all Lennon wanted. But soon Lennon realizes he has a crush on Connor, and we eventually see them act on it.

Lennon is keeping something from Connor, and I just kept waiting for the moment he revealed everything. I had my predictions early on, so it was satisfying to see that I was right in the end. This is one of those stories where I can’t say too much without giving things away. I will say that I was a little surprised with how Connor reacted to it all, but I guess it was to be expected since he is one of the biggest green flags.

Lennon and Connor both had been through so much. Connor was just so sweet, understanding, and he made Lennon feel seen. Connor helped Lennon to get the help he needed to get better. It was beautiful to see the love Lennon and Connor had for each other, and how these two were meant to be together.

I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

I signed up for an ARC of this book without even reading the blurb, because Jesse H Reign has become one of my favourite author and I love her stories.
This one didn't disappoint a bit, I loved every second.

It's difficult to write about it without revealing too much, but it's safe to say that the author led me towards the truth very slowly: I had a lot of questions at first, about Lennon's obsession for Connor and about his friend Havi (I wrongly thought I had all figured out) but then, as their story progressed, I was lulled into a false sense of security, like their lives were going to be okay, they were falling in love with each other and were very happy.
But then Lennon's anguish and all those unanswered texts and sleepless nights, his pain and his hurt and that damned tin, all of it started to overwhelming me and I couldn't put the book down until everything was revealed.
At that point I was completely in love with Connor: he's such a wonderful caring man, just the right person for Lennon. He may bear a huge physical scar, but Lennon's emotional ones were just as big.

They help each other to heal through love and support and sunrises watching and a lot of other little things that make their story simple and wonderful at the same time (are we allowed to cry for a table?).
The two major physical scenes, both from Lennon's pov, were amazing, very emotionally intense.

I can't wait to read the bonus scene, I hope it will start right where the author ended the story because I need to know!

I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review.

From the first moment Lennon laid eyes on Connor he couldn’t help himself, but follow him everywhere.
It’s even a bit stalkerish. When there was a room vacant at Connor’s place, Lennon reached out.

Lennon is a grumpy guy who hides his pain behind a stiff wall. Lennon is hurt, he’s locked into himself, at a place where it hurts. Connor sees him.

Connor is the best person in the world, he’s kind, calm, comfortable, and sweet, and everybody wants to be near him. So does Lennon, but he can’t admit it.
Connor is downright head over heels.
There’s a lot of observation on both sides; we can witness every little detail they see in the other. It was amazing!
Connor is patient, and when Lennon finally gave in to his feelings, my heart, it was everything!
Their connection goes deep, deeper, deepest.

‘He lets go beautifully. He lets go with everything he has. He pours all of it into me.’

Connor has some amazing precious friends, Georgie and Tank, who look out for him, you’ll understand when you get to know Connor’s story!

“These are the moments,”
“These are the moments that matter,” My heart, be still!!

What a wonderful story, I was completely floored, and became speechless.
The connection between Lennon and Connor goes beyond words.
I must confess I was a bit anxious while reading, when you love your mc’s deeply, you don’t want them in distress. I was so afraid they would get hurt. You don’t want them to get hurt, everrr!
I wouldn’t recover if they were!
This is a super intense and romantic story, it made me highly emotional, melancholic, and last but not least, extremely happy!

What a great start to this new year!

Jesse H Reighn is my favorite author. Her writing is emotionally absorbing.
Her sex scenes are captivatingly intimate and often amusing.
Big fan of her dominant’s personalities and their dirty talk (HUGE).
However Heart was a tough read for me.
Five star writing style as always. Fascinating character development including side characters (smiled as soon as Bev was introduced). I laughed and enjoyed every small detail of the situations.
The subject matter was heavy. Reading Connors description of what almost dying pre heart transplant was unbelievably sad. Heartbreaking. It’s the crux of superb writing and difficult subject matter. Thankfully it was clear all was went well for Connor.
What was much harder for me was understanding where the story was headed and the suspense. Again, all comes from excellent storytelling. It made me feel very anxious and I found myself skimming through the aforementioned sex scenes just to get the explanation of the tragedy out. This is something I never do. It is an intense read.
Heartbreaking + tragic.
The first 50% of the book not having any heat & sex scenes to break up the impending “doom” wasn’t for me.
Now that I know the story in its entirety I will reread it and I’m sure absolutely love it. But I need a comfort read stat- my go to is Poetry on Ice also by Jesse H Reighn.

I think Heart would be challenging for readers with anxiety issues.

The rating system falls short because it's not a 5-star book, it's a 10-star book.

I'm trying to write without giving away any spoilers.

This is poetry of feelings, a rhapsody of guilt and love. It touches you deeply, leaving you raw and crying.

You know it's a very good book when you don't understand anything at first, when one of the characters knows everything, but you don't, because you see the character's pure emotions, you empathize with him quickly, you see that he's a good guy, but how guilt eats away at him, how he controls himself but loses control at the same time, you see the ropes he has put on himself, but at the same time he lets himself go.

You know it's a good book when the other main character is so green flag that he's pure emerald green.

When you read that at a certain point he stops fighting, he lets go, because there is no hope left. And suddenly, hope appears. When fate brings two lives together, one on the worst day of his life and the other on the best day of his. And everything is dawn, because that's when it all begins.

It has been a joy to end the year with this book.

So, here I was, thinking I'd escape the rest of the year without reading The Big Sad. I'd already read quite a few and was like, this'll be a piece of cake.

Then Jesse came along with Heart and HAHAHAHAHAAHAHA.

I will start off with, I loved this book. I loved it SO much.
It was beautiful and painful and fucked me up in the best of ways and I'm forever grateful I got an chance to read it early. I absolutely loved Connor and Lennon. I loved how much Connor was head over heels for Lennon and how we got glimpses of it through his conversations with his besties.

I kind of knew where this book was going with a certain character. The way things were left and said made me realize it and hope for the fucking best that I was wrong. So, here I was not only correct but also whiplash on that twist because WHAT!? WHAT?!

4.5/5. This was so fun! I found myself cracking up, tearing up, and really rooting for these guys. Lennon is great. He’s been broken and he’s struggling, but he’s genuinely kind. His inner monologue is hilarious. He had me laughing out loud. Connor is amazing. He’s a ray of sunshine. He’s so sweet and optimistic and just lovely.

I loved seeing these two men fall in love. And it felt right, even with the stalking situation. I was on the edge of my seat to figure out Lennon’s secrets, too. This book was truly a delight. I love the side characters, especially lennon’s coworkers.

I can’t get over how fun and slightly chaotic this was. I had to suspend some disbelief, but in the very best way. And Jesse?! Wow. Jesse can write such a variety of amazing stories. This is so different than the recent Jesse books I’ve read, but just as captivating.

I highly recommend this fun read.

Notes: 2/5 spice levels, stalking (good), broken mc, past health scare, roommates, grumpy/sunshine, college, student/non student, great friends

Ever since I first read Unrequited a year and a half ago, Jesse Reign has been one of my favorite authors. Heart is the perfect example of why. With this stunningly, achingly lovely story, the author generated the same emotional resonance I felt when I first read Unrequited. It’s too soon to know for sure, but Lennon and Connor may now be my favorite couple that the author has written. These MCs were like a binary star inevitably orbiting each other, and it was powerful. Seductive. Hypnotic. I loved the parts where they described their love as eternal: a man I love in this lifetime, the last one, and the next one. I cried exactly the right amount of tears. This book made me feel both humbled and renewed. I connected right away with the hints the author provided about the big reveal, with the characters, and with the direction of her wonderful storytelling. I simply couldn’t put this book down once I started. Bravo. Truly. Don't miss this wonderful book!

What to expect

MM romance
Mild stalking
Hurt/comfort
College romance
Angst
Deep connection
Opposites attract
Soul mates

This story broke my heart and put it back together. Lennon is full of despair and pain. Hiding from his past and the life he used to live. Connor is a ray of light in Lennon’s darkness. A spark that consumes his every waking moment. With his life spiralling out of control, he becomes Connor’s roommate and they discover a soul deep connection. Lennon is still hiding from the deep fissures of pain he lives with until it begins to unravel. He needs to find his strength to share everything with Connor and hope that he can survive it.

I cannot express how much this story affected me. I smiled, gasped, kicked my feet and cried. This book is full of raw emotion and I was swept up in it. With every beat of my heart, I felt Lennon’s pain as he tried to navigate through it. I loved the way he and Connor interacted. Their love story is so beautiful and heartwarming.

I absolutely love Jesse and the way she writes always captures my attention and keeps it until I’ve finished the book.

I highly recommend reading this book.

HYPNOTIC .. that’s what Jesse H Reign’s writing is! Gripping, seductively pulling you under it’s spell, weaving vivid, tangible scenes and suspending moments in taut tension, holding and letting you revel in the words that are crafting a story you can’t help but follow along.

I always, always love Jesse’s characters and Connor and Lennon are so special. This book is going to be tough to review without spoilers but I am honestly going to try because you should go in blind (I did not even read the blurb)

It’s grief wrapped up in love and healing. That’s what it is. It’s a bit of light, casual stalking, a bright ray of sunshine, beautiful old things and unshakeable found family. It’s also about best friends, second lives and chances taken and beating hearts (with a bit of a Poe reference with that box no?) it’s fiery chemistry and first times and permissions granted.

It’s beautiful told, this story highly recommend reading it.

**Initial thoughts, not my final review**

Idk. The “twist” was really obvious from early on so I was sort of bored sometimes waiting for it to finally happen. Havi’s behavior was revolting and that made it hard for me to sympathise with Lennon’s menty b because he 100% wasn’t the bad guy (except he should have spoken up and set clear boundaries long before the issue escalated that far).

The writing was beautiful and I enjoyed parts esp the side characters but overall I’m feeling kinda meh about it right now. I’m going to let it sit until I finalise my review/rating. It’s probably about a 3.5 though :/

I’ve been ARC reading for Jesse for years now, so I’ve learned to brace myself ... yet she still made me cry with Heart. This book ... all the sweetness, all the heat (I mean holy hotness, she was not holding back!), all the pain Lennon carries, the beautiful love that just blooms between these two lovely souls ... I’ll have to unscramble my brain a bit just to write a decent review. It’ll come eventually. But to sum it up in one sentence: don't miss out on reading this amazing story!

Wow. I am at a loss for words after this one. I had heard it was that, but it was so beautiful too. My heart broke for Lennon because he was going through it for much of the book. Connor is sunshine when all around you is clouds. I adore Connor. But Lennon. I just want to hug him. I don't want to give anything away but damn. This book took me by surprise.

Yes, melt, every single time… I read this in one sitting because you can’t put it down. Now I have to say this story comes with an amazing plot and some heavy twists to get to their HEA.
