He’s Bratva royalty. I’m a broke temp. And we just broke every HR rule under the mistletoe.
I’m just trying to survive the holidays—broke, freezing, and one rent payment away from disaster. So when a temp agency sends me a new holiday assignment, I jump at the chance. A high-paying assistant job over Christmas break? Yes, please.
Then I meet him.
Anton Ismailov.
Bratva king. Ruthless billionaire. My new boss.
He’s tall, cold, and terrifying in a way that makes my thighs clench. He doesn’t ask questions. He gives commands. And when he says, “Don’t thank me yet,” I know I’m in trouble.
Now I work just outside his office, pretending not to notice the way his eyes burn through my clothes… or the way my body responds every time he says my name.
This is supposed to be temporary.
But Anton doesn’t do temporary.
He does possession. Protection. Control.
And when he kisses me, I know I’ll never make it to New Year’s without being completely, deliciously ruined.
HOLIDAYS WITH THE BRATVA This holiday season, our Bratva bosses are taking what they want. The nanny. The bride. The baby mama. The fiancée. The wife. The maid. These men don’t ask for permission. They don’t believe in waiting. They believe in claiming. Their women never stood a chance. This is a series of short, steamy holiday romances filled with obsession, possession, and happily-ever-afters. High heat. Instalove. Over-the-top alphas. Pure holiday unhinged fun. Preorder now for standalone romances from the same authors who brought you the "Bred By The Bratva" series!
Jailaa West grew up on the southside of Chicago. She fell hard for romance books in junior high school when she got her first book boyfriend. Aww, she remembers it like it was yesterday. That first kiss. When he swore his undying love. When they married in the epilogue. When it ended. Say what now? She quickly found another book boyfriend and then another and yet another. She’s been book-in-love quite a few times now and she loves it as much as the first time. Books have always given her a happy place; a heart full of hope, love, and a light when the world seemed dark. She hopes to do the same for her readers.
Talia and Anton, an insta story that is so over the top, crazily fast moving…and rather fun too. She goes to a job interview for a temporary position that becomes permanent! Spice, bossiness, strength and much more make for great escapism for an hour or so.

Talia needs a job and that brings her into contact with Anton. He decided when he saw her photo that she was the one. Only problem is Talia does not see it that way
Anton is the brooding CEO boss … Talia is the new employee who has him obsessed at first glance . She doesn’t stand a chance .she has abandonment trauma . She doesn’t want $ or material things she wants someone to show up and show out for her.
🥃 ARC Review: A Secretary for the Bratva Boss by Jailaa West By The Bourbon Sipping Bibliophile Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.75/5) Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (Maximum Heat - Explosive, Dark, and Possessive) Genre: Dark Romance • Mafia/Bratva Romance • Boss/Employee • Short & Steamy Pour Style: Straight barrel-proof, intense, fast-paced, and utterly addictive.
🥃 The Pour: A High-Proof, Non-Stop Shot of Heat This ARC is exactly what the author promises: a short, steamy, high-stakes romance that delivers all the "feels" of a full-length novel in a condensed, binge-worthy package. A Secretary for the Bratva Boss throws the heroine, Talia, into the deep end from the first page—literally, as her life is already unraveling before she steps into the formidable Sindicate Tower to meet the Bratva boss, Anton.
The pour is quick, dark, and utterly intoxicating. The plot moves at breakneck speed, prioritizing the explosive chemistry and the intense power dynamics inherent in the boss/Bratva trope. If you like your romance to be morally gray, fiercely possessive, and guaranteed to melt your e-reader, this is your shot. This book hooks you instantly and doesn't let up until the final, breathless epilogue.
💕 What Hit the Palate Nicely ✔ Immediate, Intense Stakes: The opening scene perfectly establishes Talia's desperate situation, instantly creating sympathy and high stakes for her encounter with the powerful Anton.
✔ Explosive, Primal Chemistry: This is a five-chili read, and the spice is perfectly matched to the dark, possessive tension. The intimate scenes are unapologetically high-heat, reflecting the combustible nature of their forbidden relationship.
✔ Perfect Pacing for Bingeing: The concise chapter structure (alternating Talia and Anton POVs) keeps the momentum soaring. It’s impossible to put down, making it the ideal "one-night read."
✔ The Alpha Hero: Anton delivers on the "Bratva Boss" promise—dominant, ruthless, and entirely focused on claiming Talia. He is the ultimate fictional bad boy described in the dedication.
🥃 Where the Pour Lost a Little Proof – Condensed World-Building: Due to the short format, some of the complex Mafia politics and side character developments take a backseat to the central romance. While this keeps the focus tight, readers seeking expansive world-building may want more context.
– Insta-Connection (By Necessity): The transition from desperation to dedication happens rapidly, driven primarily by the immediate, overwhelming physical and power dynamic pull, which might feel too fast for non-dark romance readers.
🌶️ Spice Notes MAXIMUM HEAT; rooted in dark, possessive dynamics.
Expect: Explicit, raw, and primal intimate scenes. Strong power exchange and dominance themes. Volatile emotional energy channeled into physical connection.
⚠️ Content Warnings Mafia/Bratva themes (violence, crime organization involvement) Extreme possessiveness and control dynamics Explicit sexual content High emotional stakes (panic, desperation)
🥃 Final Sip A Secretary for the Bratva Boss is an absolute triumph of the short, dark romance genre. It's a fiery, intense, and satisfying ride that packs a phenomenal punch. If you love a morally ambiguous hero, a heroine who finds her power in unexpected places, and chemistry that scorches the pages, add this to your collection immediately.
Final Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (3.75/5)
A spectacular, barrel-proof pour—dark, hot, and utterly essential for Mafia romance fans.
🥃 Drink Pairing: The Black Russian (A Dark Classic) This drink is simple, strong, and dark—perfectly matching the mood, intensity, and quick-hitting impact of the Bratva Boss's world.
Black Russian - The Sindicate Tower Edition
Ingredients 2 oz Vodka (for the Bratva Boss's ruthless Russian spirit) 1 oz Coffee Liqueur (for the dark intensity and the "Secretary" office setting) Served over ice in a lowball glass.
Tasting Notes 🍸 Aroma: Deep coffee and pure spirit. 🍹 Palate: Strong, cold, and dark, with a surprising underlying sweetness that reflects the unexpected devotion the hero develops. ✨ Finish: Quick, clean, and potent.

Tropes: Age-Gap, Workplace romance, Bratva, Innocent heroine, Opposites, Touch her and you know the rest, A Secretary for the Bratva Boss by Jailaa West is a part of the Holidays With the Bratva Series. The books in the series, written by different authors, are connected by themes but can be read as standalones. I have read several books by this author, starting with her Savage Security series, and I always enjoy her potent mixture of passion and emotional resilience. However, A Secretary for the Bratva Boss is beautifully elevated by lovely prose and engaging characters with poignant connections. When perpetual college student Talia Brooks stumbles into the office of Anton Ismailov, she is bedraggled; damp from the weather and walking on one heel. She does not look like personal assistant material. However, Anton looks beyond her disheveled appearance and gets a glimpse of the resilient, kind woman beneath her outer trappings. He is immediately smitten. On the other hand, Talia is in desperate need of this temporary holiday job, but once she meets the formidable Pakhan/CEO she is sure her chances of a job in this rarefied atmosphere is slim to none. Imagine her surprise when she is hired and compensated beyond what she could imagine. Anton and Talia could not be more different in circumstances, temperament and outlook. Even with a lack of material and tangible assets, Talia is generous with her limited means and puts the needs of others before her own. Anton is fierce and ruthless in both his business and personal dealings. That is until Talia brough her light and integrity into his orbit. Will he be able to convince her that he wants her for more than just a few fleeting moments? Conclusion Ms. West has given her readers a richly textured story using the tropes of age-gap, workplace and opposites attract. While relatively short in length, the story has a complete and cohesive plot with plenty of angst and drama. Talia and Anton have several places where their trajectories have taken opposing directions. However, at their core they have commonalities. They both have abandonment issues and fear that they will lose the love they have found. I am not sure how, but I missed that there is a whole series featuring Anton’s relatives (the Ismailovs) I will have to add them to my TBR list. I really enjoyed this story, and this is perhaps my favorite one by Ms. West thus far!

A Secretary for the Bratva Boss de Jailaa West serie Holidays with the Bratva libro 1
Argumento:
No hace preguntas.
This book is unapologetically fast, dramatic, and wildly over the top—and that’s exactly what made it such a fun read. The book is pure escapism: short, spicy, and perfect when you want something intense without a huge time commitment. Talia literally stumbles into Anton Ismailov’s office on the worst day imaginable, looking nothing like a polished assistant. Broken heel, soaked clothes, frazzled nerves—the whole mess. Yet instead of dismissing her, Anton sees something deeper: resilience, honesty, and a quiet strength that immediately pulls him in. Their “interview” doesn’t feel professional for long; it’s charged, personal, and strangely intimate right from the start. Anton is the classic Bratva boss—powerful, controlled, intimidating—but the second Talia enters his world, that control starts to slip. He’s decisive, possessive, and absolutely certain about wanting her. Talia, meanwhile, is cautious and guarded. She’s spent her life surviving on her own, so trust doesn’t come easily, especially when someone offers more than she ever thought she could have. The contrast between them is one of my favorite parts of the story. Talia has very little but gives freely; Anton has everything but doesn’t know how to soften until she forces her way into his carefully ordered life. Their connection is instant and intense, and while the romance moves fast, it fits the tone of the book perfectly. There’s drama, spice, and a deliciously convenient snowstorm that traps them together—completely unrealistic, of course, but also incredibly entertaining. This story knows exactly what it is and leans into it without hesitation. Even though it’s a shorter read, it feels complete. There’s emotional tension beneath the heat, especially around fear of abandonment and the risk of loving someone from a completely different world. The ending (and epilogue) wrapped things up in a very satisfying way. Fast, fiery, and a lot of fun—definitely worth the read if you’re in the mood for an unhinged Bratva boss and instant chemistry. 🔥.

Frankly speaking, if a job candidate showed up to an interview looking like she’d just climbed out of a dumpster (her words, not mine), most people would probably steer her right back out the door. But Talia’s disastrous day, broken boot heel and all, is only the beginning, and Anton Ismailov’s reaction is anything but predictable. Their interview quickly stops feeling like an interview at all; it becomes startlingly candid, almost intimate. Anton wasn’t expecting someone who didn’t bow down to him, who met his stare without flinching, who told him her story with a raised chin and a spark of defiance, as if daring him to pity her. And Talia certainly wasn’t expecting the way this controlled, impossibly powerful man would make her feel. Little does she know, Anton is already calculating exactly how to keep her close. Talia is timid one minute and brave and defiant the next, but, above all, Talia is a survivor who’s been alone for most of her life. Trust doesn’t come easily to her, not when she’s always had to fend for herself. She doesn’t want money or extravagant gifts; she wants something real, something that lasts. The question is whether she can believe that Anton is there to stay. Perhaps the most delightfully outlandish part of this mafia romance might be the snowstorm that traps them in his sleek, high-tech office tower. Conveniently, Anton’s penthouse sits at the top, though why it’s supposedly safer than the office below remains one of life’s great literary mysteries. And let’s just say a bedroom with floor-to-ceiling glass walls makes for an… evocative setting. One can only hope there aren’t any taller buildings in the neighborhood, though the swirling snow does provide some cover. What matters is that Anton makes it very clear what it means for Talia to belong to him and what he offers in return. Yes, it’s fast, it’s over-the-top and wildly unrealistic… but honestly, isn’t that half the fun? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an insta-love, age gap, office romance. Talia is hired as temp over the holidays for Anton Ismailov, a powerful older man with ties to the darker side of the city.
These two have off the charts chemistry and I loved that Anton falls first and falls harder. He isn't used to being denied so Talia's independence and fight mode throws him off for a second but he regroups and comes back twice as strong. It takes him a bit to understand where Talia's insecurities and fears are coming from but once he identifies the problem, he does everything in his power to reassure her. The way he loves and spoils her, it was all around swoony AF. Loved it!
This is a first by this author but I loved the story telling, the writing style, the characters that were relatable and endearing. Will definitely read again!
Anton is a rich, powerful, bratva boss/businessman. His secretary wants to take the Christmas holidays off. Talia is at the end of her ropes financially looking for temp employment. Talia may be desperate but being a survivor of the foster care system, she has learned to never give up. There is a moment during her interview where you would expect her to crumble but she doesn’t. This intrigues Anton and from that moment on he knows he wants to make her his. These characters had an age gap, opportunity gap, and were characters with a lot of depth. This isn’t my first Jailaa West book and she just keeps growing as an author. Both Anton and Talia have gone through dark childhoods of abandonment and loss. They have in common wanting to be truly loved. Talia has a few more barriers to conquer from her experiences in the foster care system. She wants to experience safety and truly being chosen. This story has a lot of hot, sexy, and spicy scenes. Their chemistry is undeniable. However, this book is deeper and there is actual growth seen in both characters. Highly recommend you give this one a read. You won’t be disappointed.

Whewwweee, Chile, I love an unhinged Bratva Boss!! And Anton Ismailov is the epitome of everything unhinged, especially when it comes to Talia. From the minute they laid eyes on each other, both of their worlds shifted, sending them on a collision course that would only lead them straight into each other's arms. As much as Talia tried to fight it, deep down she knew Anton was hers as much as she was his.
This book was absolutely fire! The chemistry between Anton and Talia was hotter than the sun, unstoppable, and just as unshakable. The intimate scenes were deliciously spicy, and the drama was just as fierce. I loved the ending! That epilogue was one of my favorite parts of the book. Another reason why this author's books are always one-click. She cooked, ate, and left no crumbs!
“Just a job. Two weeks, maybe three. Good pay, long hours, and a boss who looks at me like he's deciding whether to fire me or devour me. And God help me, I'm not sure which one I want more.”
Jailaa West’s A Secretary for the Bratva Boss is the perfect addition to the Holidays with the Bratva collaboration. Talia is desperate and needs a job. Even though it's supposed to be a temp job, she doesn't know that Anton (the Pakhan of the Ismailov Bratva) has already decided he's keeping her.
This story delivers plenty of steam, deliciously charming bratva possessiveness, and a virgin heroine whose fear of abandonment adds real emotional depth. The chemistry sizzles, the emotions hit just right, and it all comes together in a romance that is equal parts spicy, swoony, and satisfying.

Where to begin?!!! FIRST OF ALL this book is so full of steamy, sexy, and OH SO MUCH DELICIOUSNESS that I needed a cigarette! (And I don’t even smoke!) From the moment Anton stakes his claim on Talia, until the end of this book, my heart was immediately filled! THIS MMC just made me feel what every woman wants to feel, worshipped, protected, and loved unconditionally. Anton is obsessively in love, and once you read this book and understand where he’s coming from, and how he recognized those same feelings in Talia of wanting to belong to someone. You will totally get it! Oh, and ALL THE S3X in addition to this awesome novella is an AWESOMELY GREAT BONUS! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Anton is different; hidden secrets, hidden needs, every bit of him... Hidden.
Even that defining moment he first meets her, hidden. Every bit of him the cold pahkan... But the carefully constructed shell has hairline cracks.
Talia has spent her life taking care of herself. Alone, unwanted, forgettable. The possibility does not exist that those calculating eyes of his mean anything for her that she can trust.
What I like about this story is the mystery that is Anton, the man. And how that mystery stays shrouded, not mapped out in bold detail. He fired my senses from the beginning, and drew me in as thoroughly as he did Talia.
This was a pretty typical mafia insta-love romance. Which is not to say it was bad. Talia and Anton are stranded during a winter storm, giving Anton the opportunity to get Talia into his penthouse. From there he pretty much tells her she is his and that’s all there is to it. Talia has trust and abandonment issues, so she isn’t too thrilled with the whole deal. There was a lot of spice and a lot of reassurances from Anton before their happily ever after. I wasn’t thrilled with the violent scene near the end but otherwise it was a good read.

I love how Anton’s control snaps, for the right woman. This story was filled with straight to the point intensity from the beginning. I love that, deep raw emotions that surface on both sides. Once she saw how real it was on his side, she lifted his colorful hand and claimed him. Bayyyybeeeee poetry at its finest. Be the light to his dark Talia. Embrace the monster and love him fiercely!! J West, you did that hun. Bravo!!
P.s. That gift in the end was beautiful touch Anton!! Well Done Pakhan 💪🏽💪🏽
Anton and Talia are two damaged souls who find each other before the holidays. She’s drawn to his power and presence, he’s drawn to her openness and honestly. He hires her to bring her into his life and keep her close, she accepts because she’s broke. He stakes his claim immediately but Talia has been abandoned, left and hurt too much to jump blindly. Told from dual POV this is nice hot short about two people who find what they need in each other.

This one was Anton and Talia's story. It was a short little story. It had its issues but was still good for a brain cleanse. Anton decided Talia was for him and perfect for the temp position from a picture. Talia needed the temp position and started out an interesting character. The issue was she kept fluctuating. She's strong and stand up for herself one minute and then submissive the next. Suspend time for a bit because it all happens over a weekend. The story started out great and I was totally into Talia and Anton (who was deliciously alpha), but I got distracted by chapter 6 where I noticed that several sentences and a couple paragraphs repeated. That chapter needs editing and proofreading. I stopped reading for several days because it irritated me. I just began chapter 7 and I finished the story fully. I even teared up in the final chapter and the epilogue. I recommend this one even with the issues in chapter 6.
This was so well-written. I enjoyed every single moment of this book. Maya was desperate for this temp job for over Christmas. Mikhail couldn't believe how this woman who was sitting in his office for an interview affected him. He has been swarmed by many beautiful women but this woman sitting in front of him right now there was something in her eyes that he totally understood. Where you do anything to survive. The chemistry between these two was so much fun to read, and how Mikhail was with Maya and his patience with her made for a really good read. I can't recommend this book enough!!
loved it !! love this series !! love Talia and Anton... this is their story... a fun fast paced shorter rom/com drama mafia style... it was obsession at first sight ... really !! and it only gets better.. she just needed a job fast... this is what she got... him !!! assistant to a mafia boss.. not a mafia boss but, the mafia boss...! and now, he's obsessed with her.. okay, she's obsessed with him, too !! see, it just keeps getting better !! so good !!!.

This book is a great way of starting a staycation or even a holiday season, and when you add a pair of boots to the mix… You get a wonderful read.
The chemistry between Anton and Talia is like raw and unadulterated energy. You can feel it, when you first meet them within the first moments of their encounter. This book definitely needs a sequel.
Any opinions, recommendations, or suggestions expressed within this review our Solely and uniquely made by me. I originally and voluntarily had received in advance copy of this book via Bsprout.
That was a very confusing book to read, there were scenes missing, so I had no idea what he was talking about, you would never have guessed he was the head of the Russian Mafia, you just got told he Pakhan, apart from him calling him that. it was very short which made everything happen too quickly, i mean falling in love after just 3 days.......

This was a really good one. I like the fact that they were kindred spirits in a lot of ways. She did start to get on my nerves a bit…then I remember trust is not easily formed with those who been in the system. With that being said it was easy to overlook her as we may call being hardheaded. She simply didn’t want to get her hopes up to have it snatched away. Anton and Talia story was beautiful.

You’re the gift I’ve been waiting for. To make Christmas right. Anton and Talia are both strong solitary individuals who push their way through life without apologies. But deep down both have demons that need to be slain in this love at first sight, hold on tight, holding nothing back, steamy hot love story. "This is my honest review of an advanced reader copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily."
I love a good boss/secretary plot. this one didn't hold back. Anton is intense just like the rest of his brothers/cousins and of course the Bratva family. Talia is a wonderful fmc, she doesn't just lay down and take it haha get it. She fights back and makes him work for it. They are great together. This one was a winner in my book.

Talia falls for him too but is scared. Anton calms her fears and proves he loves her. I like how Talia accepts him as he is.
The plot was well written and developed. World building was excellent and impressive. The characters were so very well drawn and appealing and totally perfect for each other. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend.

“You’re my first, my last, my everything…”bump, bump, bump! Yeah, that song drifted into my heart during a pivotal scene in Anton’s penthouse during the storm Christmas Eve. Iykyk! What a beautifully composed office romance. I cared about and connected with both characters. Swoony chemistry abounds, and the character arcs satisfy.
This is a short and spicy OTT instalove story between Anton, a bratva boss, and Talia, the temp who comes to work for him oevr the holidays. Plenty of spice, a lot of love, and alopha mmc who will do everything for the woman he loves, and a HEA make this a fun short story.
