Prayers for those with loved ones in the military

While My Soldier Serves offers prayers and scripture references for the person at home to pray for the soldier they love and for themselves as they wait. With over 2.3 million active and reserve military personnel, there are that many families who are waiting at home and praying for their well being. While My Soldier Serves features 111 prayers for their soldier and 53 prayers for the one who waits at home. These thoughtful, specific prayers target the needs soldiers face every day such as for wisdom, strength, faith, protection, encouragement, comfort, and their team. Prayers for the one who waits at home include fear, loneliness, patience, faith, strength, and community. Written so that it can be used by anyone who loves a soldier, it is perfect for parents, spouses, friends, or even groups who band together to pray for our soldiers. Foreword by Todd Starnes, best-selling author and contributor to Fox News.

Edie Melson is a woman of faith with ink-stained fingers who has been known to announce that she's creative out of self-defense. With an artist-mother and musician-turned-photographer-father, she'd have been a disgrace if she hadn’t been true to her own brand of creativity. She’s a writer who feels lost without her camera and a reluctant speaker who loves to encourage an audience. And she embraces the ultimate contradiction of being an organized creative.

As an instructor, she’s encouraged and challenged audiences across the country and around the world. Her numerous books, including the award-winning Soul Care series, reflect her passion to help others develop the strength of their God-given gifts and apply them to their lives. She lives in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains where she spends time off hiking with her husband and her camera. Connect with her on www.EdieMelson.com and through social media.

This is a book that I have been ordering for everyone that I can think of that needs it. And it seems to be out of print and can only be gotten used…well at least I have been able to get used copies. The in,y problem now is that the copies are on the more expensive side. The author really seems to understand what those in the military go through and the prayers are so thoughtful. My prayers prior to the book were…please keep him safe…and now this allows me to be specific to what he really needs in all the situations that could be happening. I do wish there was a him version and a her version. Having he every other page and she on the alternating pages jerks me out of the prayer just a smidge as I have to think to replace it with my loved one’s name.

A beautiful book of prayers.

I don't have relatives or friends in the military, but my heart aches for soldiers and I can't even imagine how hard must be for them and their families. This book encouraged me to pray for soldiers and people who are in the war.

I'll always keep them on my prayers and surely this book is going to be a good devotional.

Even if like me, you don't have a loved one in the military, I think this book is a great great read, so everybody can read it.

I won this book through GoodReads and I thank to the publisher for providing me this copy but this fact didn't influence the review.

I am in awe of this devotional of prayers for military members who are deployed. The depth of detailed prayer for loved ones who serve is inspiring, thoughtful and right on the mark. It is obvious author Edie Melson has experienced having a loved one serve in dangerous places. But Melson takes her experience to a whole new level of spiritual support for others who face the fears and concerns. This book of prayers and Bible verses will bring hope and blessing to readers who long to know how they can pray. Melson shows the way. You will be blessed.

Having a soldier of my own, I was eager to read this book. It is filled with very specific, bold, heartfelt prayers that could apply to anyone but is worded for the military. If you want a book to help you pray boldly for your adult children, then give this book a try.
