Sometimes going hard means sacrificing the very thing you love the most in order to be at the top. Gwen knows firsthand about this sacrifice as she struggles to get her son back from a heartless killer bent on revenge. Niya, on the other hand, is sitting at the top of the throne. Still, she will have to determine whether she's willing to sacrifice her girls' lives in order to make MHB a dominant force in North Carolina's drug trade. She's about to find out that playing with the big boys has its consequences, unless you are really about that life.
Put ya seat belts on and get ready to ride into the next chapter of MHB. Trust and believe that everybody is bound to crash on the road to the top and the fall to the bottom. Blake Karrington takes you back down the Southern streets that made him the literary king of the Dirty South.
Blake Karrington is more than an author. He’s a storyteller who places his readers in action-filled moments. It’s in these creative spaces that readers are allowed to get to know his complex characters as if they’re really alive.
Most of Blake’s titles are in the South in urban settings that are often overlooked by the mainstream. But through Blake’s eyes, readers quickly learn that places like Charlotte, NC can be as gritty as they come. It’s in these streets of this oft overlooked world where Blake portrays murderers and thieves alike as believable characters. Without judgement, he weaves humanizing backstories that serve up compelling reasons for why a drug dealer might choose a life of crime.
Readers of speak of the roller coaster ride of emotions that ensues from feeling anger at empathetic characters who always seem to do the wrong thing at the right to keep the story moving forward.
In terms of setting,Blake’s stories introduce his readers to spaces they may or may not be used to - streetscapes with unkept, cracked sidewalks where poverty prevails, times are depressed and people are broke and desperate. In Blake storytelling space, morality is so curved that rooting for bad guys to get away with murder can sometimes seem like the right thing for the reader to do - even when it’s not.
Readers who connect with Blake find him to be relatable. Likening him to a bad-boy gone good, they see a storyteller who writes as if he’s lived in world’s he generously shares, readily conveying his message that humanity is everywhere, especially in the unlikely, mean streets of cities like Charlotte.
Let me tell you about PART TWO!!! Revenge is best served COLD and that’s exactly what this book was COLD! The amount of action is this book is SO good. I’m invested in these characters like I’m apart of MHB lol. Perfect amount of spice for me. I genuinely have no complaints & would definitely recommend.
Niya got out of jail after a brief bid and walked right into a war in Charlotte. Chad never got over Zion's death and paid the price with his life. Gwen is ready to get out of the game. Diamond almost buys it for a murder that MHB committed. The second half of the novel takes place in Philly. Murder and mayhem follow Niya and Eagle here. Another MHB death forces Niya to return to the cauldron that is Charlotte.
Niya always got shit going. I'm about done reading about her ass. When will she learn to leave the hustle game alone? For her to have twins back home she sure is neglecting them with the life she living. Although MHB may be her sister-fam she ain't thinking about nobody, but herself.
I enjoy this authors style of cohesive action packed writing. Its not just thrown together. The plot is thought out, it makes sense and its not completely overtly ridiculous like most of this trash other people write where their story isnt even fluid.
This book took me awhile to read. It was a familiar story and nothing different from how the streets are plaque with drugs, sex and violence. The only thing that was interesting about this story is the Realestate cover up for the drug dealers.
I so wanna say I hate this book but I can't say that but I do hate the characters. I mean come on, Niya and Gwen along with the rest of the fool pack are digging deeper and deeper. Now Niya and Gwen go way back and have become enemies after Gwen's bf Chad decides to marry Niya because he got out the game and Gwen didn't want to. He chose Niya because she was cool with it and he married her which resulted in twins.
Now he also has a child with Gwen. But like I stated Gwen and Niya go way back from their dumb group called MHB. Really and bunch of ho's who tricked drug dealers who are now turning into drug dealing murders. Now I read Country Boy's and the Trap Star books and it's been a while but I was kind of putting the pieces together slowly but...
In Trap Stars Brianna and Gwen fell out, in this they don't know each other but they meet in here which is different from what I read in Trap Star(s) but it's been a minute so maybe I need to go back and read the two series again for a refresher. Anyway the two are meeting and Gwen gets the connect from Brianna. In the mean time Niya is the cousin or something to Van from Country Boy's. She gets the Jamaican connect to start up but she's also a target by the police. Mayo gave up her tat to the police for a deal on his case.
Gwen and Niya have a shoot out, Niya goes to kill Gwen to discover Chad in Gwen's bed. Mind you these two were once sisters and their children have the same father. The ending always gets me because it ends with Gwen about to be killed by Niya but Chad stops her because Mayo has someway taken their son. I really don't want to read anymore of his tom foolery but damn! I want to know what happens next, I know Chad has to be feeling some type of way seeing that both his bms have gone behind his back into the drug game when he got out so he could make sure his family was safe.
Plus I want to see what's the deal with Mayo being upset with Gwen even though he should've been mad at Niya because she was the one to rob him. Even with Gwen not getting back at him after he gave up his connect he should've known that was going to happen. Either way I feel like I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. Great story.
I enjoyed reading Country Girls 2. Country Girls 2 by Blake Karrington is a good book. This is my third book reading from this author. He did a good job. He takes his time to writing this book. I like the concept and vibe.
Mayo is a dangerous man because he doesn't play when it comes his money. Everyone turns down on him. Gwen & Niya were a good friends but they are fighting for Chad. Chad is not worth it all. Gwen needs to realized that she is putting her son in danger. Niya needs to be careful to playing people emotion. Prada didn't deserved to died like that.
So far, I couldn't put this book down because it is a really good and it's always on point. It will never disappoint me. I'm looking forward to read part 3 of Country Girls. I choose 20 stars because both author and this book deserve the stars but even though, amazon & good reads only allow give stars.
Honestly I do not know what I was expecting. It wasn't a bad read, but it ended abruptly, so for me that a downer. One of the girls did not make to the sequel so to speak. But that funeral was awesome and grandma was a trip, loved that. Gwen, Gwen, Gwen she is conflicted and tormented so Im interested in seeing how she plays out the cards in her hand. Im expecting some smooth moves by Niya, after all she is Van's cuz. I'm glad to see that Diamond didn't hold back when it was time to render judgement. I am looking forward to part 3, I can't wait to see who comes out on top. it would be sad for the country boys to be able to handle theirs and country girls all go down in flames. Stop trying to read between the lines and read the book.
Ok Niya picked up the pace in this sequel. Of course the tie to Country boy's VAN had to come in being that Niya is not experienced in the "game" at all!!Gwen seems not to be stable at all while TIKI is just sitting back and letting the bond /family she built go "H.A.M." on each other. Mayo...the name alone keeps me CRACKING UP ..it must be a country thang!! I could not settle down until I clicked and purchased part three ..reading now!;)
This is a good series that just keeps getting better. I really wish it was one novel but more and more I see authors making one book into several smaller books. My gripe with that is the length of time it takes for the next book to come. I have forgotten the story by then. Thankfully this series is old so all the parts are available. On to part 3 now!!
I am ready to see what happens in Country Girls III. Shocked that Niya allowed Chad to make it after pulling that stunt with Gwen. These girls are truly about that life, a life I know nothing about but enjoy reading. Wondering if I'm wrong but I surely want them to get out the game before they get caught up, don't think it is going to happen.
MHB will the loyalty be strong enough to hold them together.....Chad was wrong but I understood him but he can keep playing in the cookie jar and dont think the crumbs won't be followed...... mayo is about to get the business Gwen had nothing to do with him Niya but let me get to book 3
Blake did his thing again! Greed caused Prada to lose her life, but obviously these ladies are willing to risk their lives to get what they want. I don't like that Gwen and Niya are going at each other but that's what happens when you share a baby daddy. Lol Gwen's hustle has put her child's life in danger. Ready to read the next book to see what happens!
4 stars.... This book was action packed from the beginning to the end. I can't wait to read the next episode on how my girls are getting down and making money in a man's game
This book has so many twists and turns I could hardly keep up.... It's so exciting! I am on the verge of downloading the third sequel, I can't wait to get into it!
Blake has done it again with the sequel to the first Country Girls, I really enjoyed booth books but once again we are left hanging until the next book.
