Favorite part of this book is hearing how John Hagee's Uncle Tink survived a heart attack by playing recordings of scripture dedicated to healing. He suffered a heart attack early in life, then had the forethought to plan for the next cardiac arrest by recording himself reading Bible text about healing. Gave his wife instructions to play the recordings on a loop, so that during his next heart attack when doctors wanted to give up and pull the plug, she insisted the headphones stay on and don't touch that plug. Brilliant! Since the subliminal, self-help tapes of the 1980s helped me pass high school chemistry with an A, I've come to know it really works. Even today I have clearings and inspirational classes playing all over my house at a low level. What I'm now realizing, is that this technique can be done with the Bible.
Unfortunately, that's where my love of this book ends and I begin disagreeing with its delivery.
I found the specific recounts of demonic possession somewhat useful, but wish the book would dig deeper, explore more, and ponder the real truths. Mostly, this book lightly scratches the surface of an endemic issue. It falls back on the stereotypical Christian huff & puff of quoting scripture, labeling & judging, while offering almost nothing in the way of effectual forward movement. I enjoy books written by therapists, pastors, and experienced experts on this topic who have a little more self-effacing approach. I enjoy the "we're in this together" attitude, but did not recognize it here.
The text is very clear: Islam is influenced by the devil. The singularity diminished my ability to see this book as a serious contender in its area of claimed expertise. There are inordinate amounts of testimony coming from all over detailing where and how and when satanic organizations function today. Islamic radicalism appears to be the least of it within our country.
Anyone reading this book in order to further their Christian course, may not be disappointed. However, if you're picking up this book to gain more knowledge about demonic possession, solutions that include angelic support, or to fill in a more holistic approach of this issue, you may feel the need to keep looking.
