The Unwanted Bride: An Indian Billionaire marriage of convenience romance

Rate this book
A marriage meant to end a war… started another one in their hearts.

Ranvijay Thakur doesn't do forgiveness. Cold, calculated, and ruthless, he just wants one to hunt the people responsible for his brother's murder. And every piece of evidence points to one family—the Singhs. So when his grandmother forces him into a marriage alliance with their daughter to end the decades-old feud, he agrees. Not for peace. For revenge. He'll make his new bride pay for every sin her family committed. He'll make her regret the day she became a Thakur.

Mehek Singh has loved Ranvijay from afar for eight years. The boy who never knew she existed is now the man who hates everything she represents. She agrees to the marriage anyway—not because she's naive enough to think he'll love her back, but because of the hope she carries with this union. In new beginnings. In the possibility that love can bloom even in the darkest soil. She just never expected her husband's hatred to cut quite so deep.

But secrets don’t stay buried forever. A gunshot, a drunken confession, a rescue in the snow, and a truth too painful to ignore—the enemy Ranvijay chased his whole life wasn’t across the border at all. It was inside his own home.

And when jealousy, betrayal, and broken trust tear them apart… he has to fight not for revenge this time, but for the woman who became the only thing he cannot live without.

Because sometimes, love doesn’t arrive gently—it arrives like the final blow that shatters everything that came before.

The Unwanted Bride by Kaira V gave me exactly what I expected in terms of angst, grovelling, and deeply flawed characters trying to claw their way toward something like love. The MMC and FMC both had layers, and I appreciated that neither of them was written as perfect or polished.
That said, there were parts that didn’t land as strongly for me. The heroine, while kind-hearted, sometimes drifted into being overly nice and passive. I know people like this do exist in real life, but there were moments where her reactions felt a bit too forgiving and it pulled me out of the emotional tension.
The MMC was a whole storm system: hot-headed, impulsive, and full of regret after he made his choices. But what left me unsatisfied was that he never seemed truly sorry in a meaningful way. A lot of his harsher actions felt brushed aside under the banner of love, and the “grand gesture” didn’t quite rise to the level needed for forgiveness—not for me, at least.
Still, despite these frustrations, it was a good read. There was enough emotional conflict and character depth to keep me turning the pages, and the dynamic between the leads had that addictive, dramatic pull that angsty romance fans will enjoy.

Notes for me

Ranvijay

Mehek

Mehek has been in love with Ranvijay from afar for 8 years. He broke her heart when she was 16 and she saw him kissing another girl. Granted he has no idea. She crashes her bike and he helps her.

Current day and their families have been at war for years. Ranvijay’s brother is found dead out the Singh’s factory. R burns it to the ground.

The grandparents (who had been in love until his Gma married someone else) meet and set up a marriage between R and M.

From R’s POV he will stay married until he finds proof they killed his brother. Then he will destroy the family starting with Mehek.

His words are cruel on wedding night.

Next day their car has been tampered with. She takes a bullet meant for him in her shoulder. She confesses she’s loved him since she was 16. He is stunned.

Story continues trying to find who killed his brother.
