Make no mistake, I am a Donna Hilbert fan. I became familiar with Donna's work when she submitted poems to the anthology I published. The last poem here "In Quintana Roo" is in my collection too. I love the sense of California I get from poems like "The Swimmer" "City of Lakewood" and the insight I get from "Consciousness Raising" "Green Wedding" "Jesus in a Plastic Jacket," and "Seattle;" but no matter what the poem is about, I like the crisp language and easy access into the work. Often it seems as if Donna is right there beside you, letting you in on something and you can't wait to hear.
