They called it a comet.
He called it a warning
Everyone else called it the end.

The Black Swan Event continues with Book Two from international bestselling author, Bobby Akart, one of America’s favorite storytellers, who has delivered up-all-night thrillers to over two million readers in 245 countries and territories worldwide.

Twenty-two anomalies.
Seven synchronized pulses.
A trajectory that corrects itself.

When Dr. Emily Pickett prepares to present evidence that 4I/SWAN may not be natural, threats follow. And the scientific establishment closes ranks.

Meanwhile, her brother, Daniel, uncovers proof that powerful forces have been monitoring the object since its discovery and their family for even longer than that.

Five days. That’s all the time the Pickett family has before an interstellar object designated 4I/SWAN makes its closest approach to Earth. The conspiracy they uncovered was just the beginning. Now comes the catastrophe.

But as debris rains down and the world fractures into chaos, one terrifying possibility becomes impossible to ignore. The comet isn’t just passing through. It’s breaking apart. And what it leaves behind will rewrite the rules of civilization.

In this captivating literary work, Bobby Akart deviates from his traditional storytelling approach, presenting readers with a narrative that is refreshingly unique, breathtakingly wondrous, and remarkably more intense than his previous works .”

Black Swan Book Two is the devastating second installment in the four-book Black Swan Event series—a collision of hard science fiction, disaster thriller, and conspiracy suspense that will have you whispering just one more chapter until the very end.

Akart ups the ante with Black Swan 2!

Black Swan 2 is the excellent continuation of the story of 4I/SWAN and the effects that its approach are having on the world at large, contrasting perfectly with the saga of the Pickett family. Akart builds the tension to almost unbearable level as 4I/SWAN approaches and the destruction it causes begins. The writing is of the absolute highest caliber, with a great plot, lightning fast pacing, crystal clear descriptions of the disaster, believable dialogue and characters and just the right amount of science! I had to force myself to out it down to sleep and picked it up immediately when I woke up! I was so engrossed that I literally forgot to eat. Akart is setting the new standard for alien invasion thrillers! Overall, 5/5 stars, highly recommended to any audience!

After The Burning, What Is Left?

"Two possibilities exist: either we are alone in the universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” ~ Arthur C. Clarke, British futurist and author

(This is the author's quote and it bears repeating.)

PPD. Project Protect Destiny. An organization that had emerged in Black Swan 1, a sort of anti-government agency with an undefined agenda but one with a conspicuous interest in the affairs of the Pickett family from West Liberty, Texas. Daniel Pickett, an Intelligence Analyst for the American government was enticed to defect to PPD as a means to discover more about the gift his Mother had. Daniel can anticipate events before they happen, he knows which way to go when he's never gone in the direction he's going, and he has uncanny pattern recognition skills that operate below the level of the unconscious mind.

As Black Swan 2 opens, Emily Pickett, Daniel’s sister, is sitting in a booth in Pasadena, California, trying to retrieve some of the events that have happened to her since she was grabbed at CalTech while working with Professor Johan Xavier. She barely notices that she's soaked by the rain, has blood all over her, and has multiple injuries. After this scrutiny, Emily remembers being beaten and left in the diner’s parking lot. Apparently, a group of heavy-hitters didn't want her or Professor Xavier to complete the conference about the anomalies of Comet 4I-Swan and kidnapped her and left her near the diner after assaulting her.

Daniel Pickett regains consciousness in a dark forest. He is immediately aware of malevolent people looking for him, and where they are, despite the murky light and dense trees.

His hand unconsciously reaches for the thumb drive, which contains all his government work, as well as everything he has found at PPD regarding Comet 4I-SWAN. Horrified to realize that he's dropped it while fleeing the predatory PPD security team, Daniel immediately drops into a state of processing information below the threshold of conscious awareness. Through miles of impenetrable woods and a field of smashed glass from his car wreck, Daniel listens until he “hears” that the thumb drive is under the tree in front of him. He reaches down and pulls it out.

“I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness.” ~ John the Baptist, John 1:23, King James Bible

(Another of the author's quotes. I put it here because I imagine the Pickett family and Professor Xavier must feel like this.)

Professor Johan Xavier and Dr. Emily Pickett have been the lone voices of hard science, mapping, measuring, and attempting to present a clear scientific view of Comet 4I-Swan and the ramifications of its impact on Earth, regardless of whom it scares. The ubiquitous men in black driving black SUVS are out for blood to “protect the populace” and to stop the truth-tellers at any means.

Black Swan 2 is an intense Thriller, one that strikes at our continued existence. You will read about science and math, astronomy and physics, but you will feel unnerved, disturbed, and greatly distressed by the phenomena described in Black Swan 2. All I could think was, “Holy Cow, if things are this bad halfway through, what could possibly be in store for our Pickett family and poor planet Earth?”

I believe in the magic of Bobby Akart's writing and that small, mushy place in his heart, and, no, I don't mean cardiac disease! Bobby has a protector instinct, sort of an inner tour guide that wants to end the book harmoniously. I have believed in you, Bobby Akart, through many disasters you have written, terrified though I was, and I still believe in you. I don't know how you'll do it, but you'll get the people of Earth through this disaster, too. Another Galactic five-star book. If you haven't read the first one, do it now.

Black Swan 2: A Natural Disaster Thriller
Bobby Akart
“Some truths are too dangerous for the public.”
“The term Black Swan describes an event that comes as a surprise, has a major effect, and is often inappropriately rationalized after the fact with the benefit of hindsight. A Black Swan event is hard to predict, and rare events that are beyond the realm of normal expectations in history, science, economics, and technology.” (Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_s...).
Book 2 picks-up where book 1 left off. This is a 4-book series.
This series revolves around the Pickett family. Bud is the sheriff of Liberty County, Texas. His wife Bonnie passed away in an accident. He has two adult children, Daniel Pickett and Dr. Emily Pickett. Bonnie had a special talent as did her father; Daniel has the same talent only magnified.
A comet is headed toward Earth only there is something different about it. It isn’t acting like a comet. Dr. Emily Pickett and Dr. X are scheduled for a press conference except Dr. X is gone. Emily is on her own. She knows her reputation is on the line and will be destroyed if she tells the truth but people will die if she doesn’t.
Daniel has information concerning PPD, Project Protect Destiny. A powerful league that has been monitoring his family for decades and monitoring the “comet”. He needs to get the information to Emily.
In five days the “comet” will be closest to the Earth. At first the shooting stars are beautiful. The citizens can’t help but fix their eyes on the sky. As the “comet” comes closer more and more debris rains down out of the sky. People are dying as the meteors pummel the planet. “What comes after is worse. Fires. Tsunamis from ocean impacts. Atmospheric debris blocking sunlight. Agricultural collapse. Infrastructure failure. The cascading effects of a technological civilization abruptly cut off from the systems it depends on.”
What is the “comet”? What is it hiding? “They’re coming to collect what they’ve planted. The seeds they scattered across generations. The ones they’ve marked.” Is this the end of civilization as we know it?
I’ve always enjoyed Bobby Akart’s stories, but this his greatest to date. He has left me more than a little concerned. I’ve read his tales only to find how realistic they are and sometimes they seem to come true. This series just keeps building. The action is non-stop.
Author Bobby Akart is a superb writer; the plot is fast paced. I felt as if I were there experiencing the events as they unfold. The dialogue, descriptions, the characters are realistic and the scientific facts provide realism.

The comet approaches Earth, meteor showers thickening as the false tail leads the way

The comet's path grazing the Moon on its way to the Earth becomes more defined, the destruction increasing. The Pickets' role in the coming encounter becomes more closely defined as the time of impact approaches. Humanity's fate will be decided by meteor storms passing beauty to terrifying, each impact closer and more destructive.
More entertaining, yet terrifying, prose from the Master of Disaster! Foretelling humanity's future in dark days. Some prepare for a bleak future while others plan more odious techniques for survival. This tale, like the bulk of Bobby's library, offers glimpses into a possible future and how to possibly survive it, whatever "it" is. This is another terrific read!

Breathtaking.

You would think that the level of science and detail through the first two books in this series would be slow and tedious. It is definitely NOT! It had me researching astronomical and other topics with awe. I love the characters and especially the Pickett family. I The religious brush strokes bring so much humanity and color to a world and culture on the brink of extinction. Bobby Akart also reminds us of the ways we are manipulated by social media, the government, and all who we’ve been ‘taught’ to trust and believe. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series. It is so amazingly different from other apocalyptic novels that there is no way to guess what is coming next! Brilliant and breathtaking.

If the first book was awareness. The second, deals with approach. Not only does it deal with the government not sharing with its people; it also deals with an entity or entities with knowledge they may or may not share with the government and/or people.. A lot of people don’t understand the latter. Who is really trying to stop Professor X and Emily? Can’t wait for the next book!

This book brought to my mind: “Alfred Hitchcock Presents”, ”The Twilight Zone”, and “The Outer Limits”. Also, as I drew closer to the end, I read that in a few days there is going to be a meteor shower with 50 an hour. Creepy!

They both arrive to their home and reunite with their father but soon head out to get more info to share. As debris begins to rain down, killing millions the worse is yet to come. Will this be the end or can they and Earth somehow survive.

INTENSE

The "Comet" approaches Earth. Emily and her brother Daniel try to collect as much data concerning the object headed towards earth as possible. So much is going on worldwide. Things, are changing and changing rapidly. This second novel in the Back Swan Series explores how different people and different circumstances react to an event that is unknown to the modern world.

Imagine if you will, a comet headed toward earth. NASA says, no worries, it will deflect off the moon and move harmlessly away. Emily Pickett and Dr. X know different. This "comet" is being directed. By what? Daniel Pickett knows. He was duped by the organization the has the answers. Maybe it's not a comet at all. Maybe they are already here. Another exciting Booby Akart offering.

End of the world or the beginning of a new one

Another thrilling, hard-to-put-down story of family, personal strength, and disaster.

The arrival of the "comet" and the destruction of mankind go hand-in-hand. But for people like Daniel, something else is happening.

An exciting book. The event continues.

Extraordinary

Bobby is weaving a tale so compelling that it stays with you even when taking a break to do something mundane or life-sustaining like eating or taking a shower. Forget about working or TV as you won't be able to concentrate on anything except reading the next chapter. Speaking of which, that last chapter....

interesting concept, pretty well executed

I love Bobby Akart books, but I’m finding that the more he writes—as great as the story is—the longer it takes to read through the redundancy. Series can be a good way to go for a complex story line. But I miss the more precise narrative style of the earlier novels.

Its Gotta A Hold On Me. . .
I loved book 1 but book 2? Yowsa, I was hooked and couldn't put it down. I'm always stunned by the technological data Bobby comes up with to make it so believable. I have a strange "feeling", cue Twilight Zone" music, that I will be very surprised...

Bobby Akart hit it out of the ballpark, again, with Black Swan 2. If you love disaster novels, mixed with family and aliens and survival, this series is a MUST read. It is a bit X-Files, a bit Fringe, a bit V and just AMAZING.

Great read! Left me waiting for the next in the series

Continuation of this series is as action packed as the first book moving us through a series of events that kind of make us question whether it can happen or not. It definitely leaves you with a cliffhanger.

Thought provoking great read.

Makes one wonder...Who's out there and when should we prepare for unexpected company?
Should we be digging out the best china, or digging a out a safe shelter?

Black Sean 2

I hope this doesn’t become one of your predictions. It’s terrifying in its possibilities. The unknown is always worse than disasters we can imagine. Things from space create images that are beyond us as mere humans.

Book 2 - KD

Book 2 was again very interesting and kept the story moving. The only complaint, because I fully enjoy this series, there is to much redundancy. Way too much stating the same view or thoughts of a character. Again look forward to book 3. KD

Wow! Book 2 was as great as book 1.

Bobby Akart has done an incredible job bring to life what might happen when a comet or other large object comes so close to the Earth. His description of the electronic world unraveling was great. Can’t wait for book 3.
