Love, loyalty, and vengeance collide on the razor’s edge.
Stacey, a fierce and resilient woman, is kidnapped by a criminal kingpin and thrust into a world of violence, manipulation, and twisted power games. As she battles her captors with razor-sharp wit and unbreakable will, Stacey discovers her own capacity for vengeance and dominance, turning the tables in a deadly game of control.
Meanwhile, Chris, a haunted ex-military operative, will stop at nothing to rescue the woman he loves, even if it means infiltrating a criminal empire and confronting his own demons. Their paths collide in a storm of passion, trauma, and retribution, forcing them to surrender to the darkness, or fight for a future together.
With high-stakes action, scorching chemistry, and a cast of unforgettable allies and enemies, this is a story of survival, healing, and the razor-thin line between justice and revenge. How far would you go to reclaim your life… and your heart?
The Edge of Revenge is a dark, pulse-pounding romance where survival means outwitting monsters, and sometimes becoming one yourself.
The Edge of Revenge doesn’t ease you in, it pulls you straight into a brutal, high-stakes story rooted in trauma, power, survival, and revenge. Stacey is a fierce FMC. She’s angry, calculating, scared, and resilient all at once. What stood out most to me is that she isn’t written as fearless, she’s written as brave despite fear, which makes her feel real. Her internal dialogue is raw and confronting, and the tension between vulnerability and control keeps the story constantly moving. There was a moment in this book where I had to stop, take a photo of a passage, and send it to a friend with “I didn’t write this… but it feels like I did.” That kind of emotional recognition doesn’t happen often, and it caught me completely off guard. The power dynamics are sharp, the dialogue cuts deep, and the emotional intensity never lets up. There were moments that made me pause, moments that made me whisper “holy shit”, and moments where I genuinely admired how fully the author leaned into the darkness without holding back. This story doesn’t treat trauma as a backdrop, it lingers, it shapes choices, and it has consequences. The violence and emotional weight aren’t included for shock value; they serve the story and the characters, making the journey heavy but purposeful. If you enjoy dark romance with strong female rage, and high emotional tension, The Edge of Revenge delivers. Go in informed, respect the trigger warnings, and be prepared for a relentless, gripping read.
The Edge of Revenge by A.N. Davis Series: Secrets Hidden (Book 2) Genre: Dark Mafia Romance
The Gist Picking up the pieces after the explosive events of On The Edge, this sequel shifts from survival mode to pure retribution. While the first book established the threat, this one explores the gritty fallout.
The story dives deep into the criminal underworld, focusing on reclaiming power, navigating trauma, and a romance forged in fire.
The stakes are significantly higher here. The villains are more ruthless, and the "revenge" aspect delivers satisfying justice.
Davis doesn't ignore the PTSD from the first book. The characters' struggle to trust again makes the romance feel earned and grounded, not just instant lust.
The chemistry is volatile. The "forced proximity" and danger elements ramp up the sexual tension, resulting in a high spice level.
This is a Dark Romance. It contains heavy themes of violence and trauma recovery that are more intense than a standard suspense novel.
A satisfying, adrenaline-fueled sequel. If you liked the suspense of Book 1 but wanted more aggression and higher stakes, this is the perfect follow-up. A must add to your TBR
Thank you A.N. Davis for letting me get the chance to read book 2 and oh my I’m wanting more…
MMC: Chris FMC: Stacey Side characters: Kelsey & Landon
Thank you AN Davis for the ARC opportunity! This book hit the spot & I can’t wait for the audio on this one! The Edge of Revenge starts with a prologue that shows how Stacy and Chris meet. Afterwords, it jumps right into where book one left off in the Hidden Secrets series. It throws us right back into the mayhem of the guys trying to find Stacy after she’s been taken by Marco (the mob boss). You get to feel all the emotions these characters go through. Stacey & Chris were both great side characters in book 1 & I’m glad it continues with their own story. They’ve all built a foundation of found family with the four main characters from this series with little Emily in the middle. They all prove that they’d do anything to protect the ones they love. CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS. Some are listed below 👇🏻 Kidnapped Discussion of past rape/SA She rapes him (revenge) on page Forced orgasm Human trafficking (off page) Torture/Murder (Brutal on page)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars — Fast, Spicy, and Totally Addictive
The Edge of Revenge picks up immediately where the first book in the Hidden Secrets series left off, throwing you right back into the chaos as the gang scrambles to find Stacy after she’s been taken. Told through both Stacy and Chris’ points of view, this sequel keeps the tension high and the emotions even higher.
A.N. Davis delivers exactly what the first book promised—spice, fast pacing, and twists that make it impossible to stop reading. The dual POV adds intensity and depth, especially as we see the fear, determination, and connection between the characters grow with every chapter.
A gripping, steamy, binge-worthy follow-up that absolutely keeps you hooked and leaves you eager for book three.
A.N. Davis.... THANK YOU. I was left wanting alllllll the secrets from book one, and you did not disappoint!
The Edge of Revenge drops you right in to the action and leaves you turning pages constantly. I love the relationship between Stacey and Chris, and the fact that despite previous issues, all they want is each other and to fix their relationship and make progression.
Stacey is left to manage being captured and finding her own ways to take control and take her fate into her own bad*** hands. She finds a way to win, and that's huge for her.
Please be mindful of trigger warnings! This book has some brutal scenes, but it's absolutely amazing! The spice is ON POINT.
I was able to read this as an ARC from the Author, and my review is solely my opinion.
Ughhhh I didn’t want it to end. Smooth story with a great flow! Characters were relatable and trauma representation was spot on and done respectfully.
On to the good stuff!
Chris may be my favorite so far for how hard he falls. Dealing with emotions he has never navigated before and not sure how to handle basically makes him the most relatable.
Stacey is a complete bad*ss and this little temptress knows how to bring a man to his knees. Brought out the dominant side of me 😂
Both fighting their own demons they must come to terms with while at the same time trying to hold onto their own relationship. They are the perfect match.
Favorite “I will also be impatient to spend the rest of my life with you.” 🫠 let’s be real there goes my heart in a puddle.
Please check your trigger warnings on this book has some dark themes that may be triggering for some. This is the second boom in this series and need to read book one to fully understand the story. Chris is a man on a mission and will not stop until his mission is complete. He is such a complex man which was amazing to see his character development throughout the story. Stacey is so strong and sassy which I love. She knows what she wants and reads the room very well to figure out her next move. I wished one characters ending was dragged out alittle more but loved how he was ended. Such a good book but dark.
*I read a BETA version of this book that has not yet been edited so things may change*
While this book follows different main characters than book 1, it is not a standalone, and you must read On the Edge first.
I fell in love with Stacy in book 1 and was so excited to continue the series with her story. The Edge of Revenge starts with a prolouge that shows how Stacy and Chris meet, then jumps right in where book one left off. The story is high stakes and captivating, and the characters are entertaining.
I read this book as an ARC. This is the second book in this series. Stacy is trying to live within her captors walls. Chris is trying to save her. All the guys work together to try and find Stacy. There’s all kinds of twist and turns in this book. Things you would never think that would happen. Will Chris find Stacy and bring her home? How will her mental health be affected? Please check your trigger warnings before reading. I do appreciate A.N. Davis writing about mental health. Also, the spice is on point!
The Edge of Revenge is a fast paced, emotionally charged read that leans hard into themes of betrayal, justice, and Mental Health so please read the trigger warning. The thin line between vengeance and redemption keeps you wanting more.A.N. Davis delivers a story that keeps the tension high while digging into the psychological cost of revenge.
This book was giving to me as an ARC for my honest and voluntarily review . Thank you for the opportunity.
. I am in love!! You follow a Bada** FMC and her taking charge of her own future. Stacey is a wild card who you fall in love with quickly. Her counter part Chris only wants his woman, and will do whatever it takes to have her. The plot in this book flows so beautifully. A.N Davis adds spice and comedy while continuing the story. I have fallen in love with the writing, the characters, and the author!!!
I absolutely loved this book The story of Stacey and Chris she's a bad ass MFC that can definitely hold her own He is a do anything to get to her MMC worships her Each of them will do anything to revenge those that have harmed the people they love and have built a ride or die kind of family unit with Their chosen family They will fight hard for each other and f#*?k even harder The spice level is a solid 🌶️🌶️🌶️1/2 And I rate this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️and can't wait for the next instalment Check triggers warnings
Amazing follow-up from the first book. This book was wild. Strong FMC, a great storyline. I loved every minute of this one. Again, the twists and turns were something else. This book pulls you in from page one. And you’re going through everything the main character is going through, side by side. The description was flawless. It made it visually easy to follow and keep you engrossed.
Book 2 of the secrets hidden series .. story kinda continues from the first book ties the story together and brings in 2 more characters involved the spice heats up quick no time Wasted storyline was great and loved the characters definitely worth the series read but start with book 1
This book was great with the twists and turns! It picks up right where book 1 leaves off and continues with the story of Chris and Stacy and their found family! This book gave me anxiety and all the good feels too!
