Small-town Oklahoma and the friendships they produce are embedded in Sharon Srock’s heart. After spending her first fifteen years on the move, living in fourteen homes and attending thirteen schools, she landed in a tiny central Oklahoma community and made it her own. As someone who’s been blessed to be a part of the same hometown church for more than five decades, Sharon writes stories of hope built from her own unique perspective—stories that demonstrate a sisterhood formed not by blood but by heart, where ordinary women are able to do extraordinary things thanks to the friends who surround them and the faith that pulls them through. Sharon still lives in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma, with her husband and three very large dogs. When she isn’t writing, she loves to read, cook, and travel. One of these days, she’s going to figure out how to do all three at the same time.

Astor by Sharon Srock
Garfield, The Next Generation Book Two
Astor Page has grown up in Garfield, Oklahoma. She is engaged to a man she has loved since third grade. Sadly, her dad passed away six months ago, so she’s been doing her college course online. She missed her time at college with Wyatt, but she felt her mom needed her. Suddenly, the one person she never expected comes back to town: her birth mother. Her grandparents were her parents, and she didn’t need this woman who rejected her…and yet, that child deep inside thought differently. Astor’s compassionate heart couldn’t see what her mom and Wyatt were seeing. Like real life, people on the outside of a situation can see things much more clearly.
Wyatt Nesbitt’s younger brother is a drug addict. Wyatt was so frustrated that he was mostly angry at Landon. His parents kept putting money out for rehab and trying to help him, but Landon wasn’t ready for their help. So, after seeing how his brother manipulated everyone around him and played the victim card, it was easy to see that Celeste, Astor’s birth mom, was doing the same to her.
Another wonderful story that had me teary-eyed more than once. Sharon Srock writes books that could easily be real-life situations. They definitely stir my emotions when I read them. I always enjoy my “visits” to Garfield.
Astor’s family’s story begins in Ladies of Garfield, book eleven: Randy.

It has been a while since I read a book by Sharon Srock, and now I remember why I love her books so much. Astor and Wyatt are engaged to be married when she finds out her “real” mother, Celeste, has returned to Garfield. Astor was raised by her Grandmother, Randy, whom we met in a previous book in an earlier series, and also by her grandfather, who had recently passed.
There are so many details lying within this story – an engagement ring that has been passed down through several generations, a cute pug with a familiar name who never fails to steal the show, a trustworthy fiancé whom Astor met in elementary school, and a faith in God that leads members of these families along the path to resolution.
Once I started reading this book, I was able to complete it in only a few days as I just loved coming back to it as often as I could. I am looking forward to the next book in this series. I encourage everyone to take the time to read and enjoy this story.

Sometimes kindness can cause someone to take advantage and can lead to heart break. After twenty plus years Astor has a chance to meet the woman who gave life to her. Like many adopted children she is not looking for a mother figure, she has a very loving one who raised her. She has a devoted finance and many lifelong friends. But she also has many unanswered questions: why, was I not good enough, what took you so long to reach out, who is the father? As an adopted child I can relate to many of these questions and this book is a reminder that not all questions come with a happy ending. Astor's faith will help her through this chapter in her life.

July reading challenge: Book with a one word title.
Naturally, I first look to the books already on my kindle to fulfil my challenges. But for what seems highly unlikely, I had absolutely no books with a one word title. I was thrilled when I received an email from Sharon Srock saying her next book, Astor, will be released in July! Perfect timing.

This is a beautifully written story about abandonment, trust and child-like faith. As always, it was lovely visiting Garfield again. Srock writes relatable stories that is easy to follow and captivating.

A received a complimentary ebook from the author. Opinions herein are completely my own.

Wow, I really enjoyed this book! The characters are realistic, the issues are serious, their faith is real. As an engaged couple, Astor and Wyatt grow in their faith and with each other and with their families during the trials they face separately and together. And yes, a few tears were shed, but there is a happy ending! And we get to read about the author’s own pug dog, Midgie! I received a free ebook but these are my own true thoughts.

Always a treat to be back in Garfield. A town in which I have fallen in love with. Astor and Wyatt's story did not disappoint. Showing us real courage and how no matter our age, we still need our parents. Those who love us unconditionally and raises us to the best versions of ourselves. A page turner with Celeste's story too. She kept us on our toes waiting for what she was up to next. A well rounded story that makes Garfield even more special!

I always enjoy these stories. This one was a little different than the others have been. It focuses on the trials and tribulations for Astor and Wyatt. Plenty of lessons learned in the story. And I must say that I’m not even surprised there was a pug in the story. I was given a complementary copy of this book and the opinions are my own.

I am really enjoying Garfield, The Next Generation series so far and I am already looking forward to the next book. The main characters in this story are each facing different issues in their families that are more common than most people realize. As they navigate through these issues, they face challenges to their own relationship. This book is so good.

Srock has done a superb job building the characters and crafting the story line. I could feel the tension as Astor made some poor choices due to her compassion and trusting nature. I wasn't sure how Srock would wrap it up well, but she certainly did. I can't wait to read more. I received this book from the author; these thoughts are my own. Looking forward to more from Sharon Srock

Astor

Loved how supportive Wyatt was to Astor. Wyatt and Astor are engaged. Astor birth mom wants to meet her but she may not have the best intentions. Wyatt does have his own family problems with his brother. I also enjoyed the puppy that Wyatt’s mom had. A fast reading book.

I received an advanced copy of the book from the author. This book review is my own opinion.

I this book you’ll read about an incredible couple who fell in love in elementary school. Astor is a wonderful person whose life gets disrupted by a mother who walked out of her life. Wyatt is a guy who is always there for Astor and their family. The author will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. You won’t be able to stop reading this book.

nice extension

Astor is a next generation Garfield girl and this tale is twisted. Her birth mother is a con artist and shows up to see what she can get out of her daughter. Thankfully her adoptive mother and her fiancé fight to defend her.
