The 3rd book in the Tales of Alexandria series, bringing an emotional conclusion to Olea and Matthew's journey.
From cosy fireside tales to cosmic final battles
How long can Olea keep running away?
She is more deeply bound to this world than she knows. Finding out the truth of her existence puts her happy life in jeopardy, and she can’t bear to drag Matthew into it, or tell him the truth she learned. Matthew doesn’t need to be joined to her fate. He never deserved to be dragged into any of this at all.
As much as she wants to ignore the truth about her existence, the world won’t wait for her to be ready. The longer she delays, the higher the risk of losing everything. But she wants more time.
One more day, one more hour. A minute, a moment, a hug.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Tales of Alexandria: Scroll Three was so good. This trilogy has completely pull me in and this scroll is definitely my favorite!
The world of Alexandria is so fascinating! What initially appears to be a peaceful, almost perfect place continues to reveal darker and more unsettling layers as the story progresses. I love how Olinda Brown slowly pulls back that illusion and makes you question everything. The mix of deities, demons, and mysterious lands definitely keeps you constantly curious. 😮
In Scroll Three especially, Olea’s journey becomes much more intriguing. She grows in so many ways, builds relationships that are like a family to her and gave her something worth fighting for (which, if you know Olea's past, she needed that!) Did I mention the amazing world-building? 🔥🔥
This 'scroll' raises the stakes significantly while also answering some ongoing questions, and it does so BEAUTIFULLY. I really liked this one. If I had to change one thing, I'd just make Olea realize that she's not being selfish for trying to keep Matthew and the group safe, even if it means worrying them. If it was real life, I'd totally understand her feelings but I wish she didn't spend as much time on feeling selfish when I feel like she was being incredible self-LESS (then again, I get it girlll ❤️) If you enjoy fantasy with a LOT of mystery a bit of a dystopian edge, deities, found family, spice, undying love... this series, especially Scroll Three, is absolutely worth your time!
Also.. that epilogue? 🤯🤯🤯 I admit, I teared up. This book is beautiful.
Spice level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️-ish
Tropes:
Fated mates (?) Found family False utopia/dystopian undertones Forgotten past Self-discovery journey Chosen one (with a twist) Moral dilemma Divine manipulation Good vs. good intentions Rising stakes
Tales of Alexandria, Scroll Three brings this trilogy to a close, and honestly, I am not ready to say goodbye to Olea and Matthew.
This book is layered with revelations, memories, and truths, the kind that quietly reshape everything you thought you understood. Olea is faced with the hardest choice of her life, and while Matthew senses she is holding something back, he trusts her enough to let her share in her own time. That trust felt so meaningful to read.
It feels impossible to talk about this book without being vague, because so much unfolds here, and saying too much would take away the experience. What I can say is that I loved watching Olea prepare for what lies ahead, while also realising that preparation alone may not be enough. There is something very human in that moment of knowing you are doing your best, and still feeling the weight of what is coming.
Matthew’s unwavering faith in Olea, and the quiet moments they share together, felt especially powerful given what Olea is carrying. The side characters continue to strengthen the found family theme, not just surrounding Olea, but growing because of her presence. That sense of connection and belonging is woven beautifully throughout the story.
The revelations about Olea’s place in this world genuinely surprised me. They were shocking, but also strangely grounding, and they made everything click in a way that felt both bold and refreshing. And the epilogue, it was everything. Truly.
Thank you so much to Olinda Brown for this world and these characters. I have loved every minute spent here, and I already know this is a story I will return to again.
I received this book as an ARC, however, this review reflects my honest thoughts and feelings, shared voluntarily.
What an incredible ride Olinda took us on. From book one which had a very cosy fantasy RPG style of storytelling, to trekking across the lands with the best found family trope, to the epic and tense conclusion - this series had a little bit of everything.
We continue on with Olea and Matthews journey to find answers about her powers and what they could mean for the land and for her and Matthew. But as some answers are revealed, more questions arise until Olea realises what must be done to protect the ones she loves.
This book is full of sweeping backdrops, bitter sweet moments, the strengthening of new and old friendships, an enemy that won't give up until they win and of course sacrifice.
Olinda has tempered action scenes with the solidifying of Olea and Matthews bond and you can't help but fall in love with these characters and hope that everything will work out. It's a great blend.
If you love cosy fantasy tales that lead you on a journey with intricate details and an overarching plot of magic and coming into power, then you should pick this series up.
Inside you'll find:
- chosen one - found family - he fell first - sacrifices - Gods and Goddesses - coming into power - cosy fantasy - quests
I read this one prior to official publication date.
I sound like a broken record but Olinda writing is out of this world stunning, immersing me in my favourite place. The third book is my favourite as it wraps up satifyily and leaves devastated for something I could never experience again. Iykyk this book gives the vibe of the sequel to the swan princess. I am also heartbroken with the ending.
