The first book in Chelsie Shock's dystopian science fiction series The Novi Orders. In the future the New World has suffered bombings, world wars, the tectonic plates have shifted, the population has seen sicknesses, radiation spills, genetically modified animals and humans, and the population has dwindled into two classes: The elites and everyone else. The Novi Orders have been enacted by the capital city and control everyone completely, except those who have hidden or rebelled, the rogues. Will is one of the survivors who has lived the quiet life of a sailor and fisherman living on what was once the Washington state coastline. When he meets an old man who used to work as a scientist for the elites, they sail to places he never imagined he’d see… the islands where the elite’s live. He meets a beautiful woman who is part of the high society by marriage, and he is thrust into plans for an uprising, a revolution, murder, war, oppression, survival and entangled in a forbidden love he can’t fully comprehend.

I received a free ebook in exchange for an honest review.

When author Chelsie Stock contacted me and asked me if I wanted to review her book Rogue The Novi Orders #1, I happily accepted and she sent it to me.

Here's what the story is about: A Sailor named Will and an old man named Ashley Cleary a.k.a. Mr. Cleary are about to rise up against the Novi Orders a government which has genetically modified all the animals and food supply that make people sick as well as brainwash anyone who will rise up to them in order to be compliant. Will the rogues succeed in their mission to take the world back from the Novi Orders government or will they die trying? Read the book for yourself and find out.

I enjoyed checking this book out. There was tons of action in it and a little bit of romance. Definitely check this book out for yourself if you enjoy dystopian stories like this. It's available wherever ebooks are sold.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

The preface gives a good lead in to the current society that exists. Genetically modified animals and food, used to keep people under control. People are modified to enhance them or to make them comply to the Government's harsh rules of society.

This is well written and gives a very descriptive, structured back story. It offers extensive word building that establishes the strong friendship between Will and Mr. Cleary. That being said, the progression of the story was slow, I struggled at times to keep reading. I kept waiting for something to happen with the rogues and the pending revolution. Perhaps more of the action will happen in the next book.

Overall I liked it, I thought the ideas were interesting. Genetic tampering is not unbelievable in this day and age. There was romance, but not so much that it overshadowed the rest of the story. It was a slightly unusual relationship but worked with the tone of the book.

Ever wonder what the distant future will bring, if genetic modifying will become a source of fear and control, as opposed to “helping” society? From food to humans, the elite take more, leaving less for the masses. Food is modified to control humans will, humans are modified either before or after birth to be everything from servants to laborers to the perfect being in looks, temperament and in the services they provide. Control is the name of the game and the rich have it. An up-swelling of revolt is coming and at the spearhead are disenfranchised scientists partially responsible for their world today as they rally rebels from encampments that mirror the best of times from long ago. Into the mix comes a loner, a bitter man who has taken to the sea, a life of being a hermit, until, he is drawn in by a charismatic old man with a plan. Assassination, a little forbidden romance and outcasts with unique talents and a sense of loyalty round out this tale, which has set the groundwork for further depth and development of this steadily paced world of turmoil and often bleak despair.

Rogue by Chelsie Shock is a dark look into a possible future where science and greed have taken on the mantle of overbearing power, controlling and watching over all of its citizens. Ms. Shock has left several avenues open to continue what may prove to be an intriguing series with a heavy feel. Her introduction of a forbidden romance through dreams was an interesting take between two people who felt their eyes connect and the world shift. Will it build into a more potent part of this series? We’ll have to wait to see!

I was given this book free in exchange for an honest review. I have wrestled with whether or not to write a review at all considering what I thought about the book. I am sorry, but I have to give a brutally honest review. The book isn’t very good. There are a ton of grammatical errors along with awkward and poorly constructed sentences. There is also an atrociously bad use of punctuation. There is very little world building in this book so you never really get a sense of what the rest of the world is like. While the author says the year is 3092, how would I know that? There is nothing that shows me that this is a future world. There are scenes in the book that are unclear and confusing, leaving me to just shake my head. It also seems very derivative because I see elements of The Hunger Games, Logan’s Run and other works. What annoyed me the most was the over use of metaphors, which were just downright strange in their own right: “Her heels weakly clanking away.” “...outside those doors was like a bolt of lightning aging the face.” What this book is in need of is an editor to do a serious overhaul. I struggled to get through it and I cannot, in good conscience recommend this book.

I was given this book for an honest review. I will admit that at times I struggled to get through a chapter not sure where the story was going, however I'm glad I continued reading.

The story set in the future the year 3092 With William Gulliver "Will "and Mr Ashley Cleary "Cleary" an odd couple who travelled together to find a colony of other rogues, sympathisers to their cause and try and undermine and bring down the Novi Order. An order where the rich live in comfort and the poor just try to survive, and if they don't succeed and get caught not abiding by the order they face the possibility of brainwashing or human modification.... This story is an adventure with murder, mystery and technological advances, even a little romance. What will happen to Will and Mr Cleary we will have to wait for the next book to find where their adventures lead...

The author conjure up images of a future that may seem unbelievable but it does urge the reader to consider our society today with it genetically modified foods and our own advances in technology as to what our future will hold.

The action packed into the pages of Rogue puts you on the edge of your seat! I was swept away by the dystopian style setting and action surrounding it. Chelsie Shock does not skimp on details and a solid back story which makes this a very immersive and enjoyable read.

At times, I felt the pace of the story drag. But overall, the dynamic of the world and how the characters related to each other spurred my interest and pushed me on. There is even a sprinkling of romance in there for those of you who love to swoon!

The premise of Rogue was definitely interesting. It wasn't too far fetched, and those books are the ones that terrify me! If I walk away from a book realizing that it could actually happen, you better believe I'll lose sleep over it. To me, that shows just how amazing the author is and Chelsie Shock and Rogue definitely fall into that category!

Given by author in exchange for a honest review....

This was a pretty interesting story based on the way future. I think it had a lot of great strong characters which is why I think it could have had a little more adventure, but maybe there is more to come.

I think this is a well written story with adventure, a difficult romance situation, and murder for the greater good. Did I mention the CLIFF HANGER!

It leaves so much to imagine about the future and how it is, how it became, and how they plan to fix it! :)

First, I would like to thank the author Chelsie Shock for giving me this book for an honest review. I like this story. The story-line is good but a bit slow, the concept is a good and believable one in our time and society. The characters are well developed and written. The world building is very good. I am looking forward to reading the next book and see how the author progresses with the story and her writing.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. This young adult thriller was a pleasant surprise. The beginning was a little slow but i soon found myself caught up in the story. I enjoyed the dream interactions between the rogue and the married women. My least favorite part of the story was the dead stop cliffhanger at the end. I hope the sequel comes out soon!
