I have been so excited to read some cute holiday books and this is my first of the month! An adorable novella that was a quick read full of magic and my introduction to selkies! A handsome elf from the North Pole and a beautiful selkie finding themselves, their passions, and each other! So precious! This book held a special place for me too having it based in Seaside, Oregon! I used to live in Oregon and visit the coast often and so it made it so special to envision this magical place and meet these characters. A feel good story with little drama and just fun connections. The highlight of family and independence and focusing on a purpose and passion was great! You will crave LOTS of yummy sweets and holiday drinks after this book so get ready for that 🍫🍪

this felt rushed?
The first 55% was info-dumpy in a way.
I thought the love interest would have been David but… we don’t get to meet MMC til after 55%.. it felt so rushed and honestly I skimmed most of this 😭

It has so much potential but a novella didn’t do this story justice imo

Part of the Cozy Christmas Collective. Not as good as the others. Take a Christmas elf away from the North Pole and a selkie from the sea, who meet away from their respective worlds. Quick read.

Cascadia and North are such a cute pairing. They are both fish out of water in this little Oregon town that has so much magic surrounding it. They’re people who want more out of life than what their limited perspective has offered them so far, while also still being connected to their community, and it’s wonderful that they find that both in their new home and in each other.
While there’s certainly pushback from their loved ones about their choices, the acceptance that the story ends with is important, in my opinion. So many people take similar chances and are then blamed for things out of their control or somehow made to feel lesser than because they made a different decision than their family or friends did. Their families support what they’re doing, the strides they’re making, and it’s just so wholesome and wonderful for the holiday season.

A cute and extremely cozy story! First time reading about these mythological creatures, but it made for an interesting read. I you enjoy holiday stories with no spice, this is the perfect quick but immersive read.

Yes! So sweet for the Holidays!
I absolutely loved how sweet this book was! It was heartfelt, and special. Both characters were so awestruck and made the world a better place with their skills!
