Ex-deputy and former private investigator Vince Tanzi is a family man now, and there is no longer any room for staking out motels and chasing after bad guys. Not with a nine-month-old kid in the back seat. Vince has reluctantly retired to focus on child rearing, recovering from a near-fatal injury, and the occasional knitting project. That is, until his best friend's mother vanishes without explanation. The third Tanzi adventure takes him to southernmost Florida and closer to the Equator when the trail leads offshore. He is up against the Pimentel family, formerly of the Hialeah numbers racket, but now respectable citizens. Sort of. He is also up against his own personal issues, including a tenuous marriage and some unwelcome distractions.Follow Vince Tanzi into the tropical heat as he reunites with Roberto, Sonny, and a host of vivid characters while he untangles a blood feud that has turned deadly.
C.I. Dennis is the author of the Vince Tanzi series. He also writes under the pen name Zig Davidson.
Dennis has roots in Vermont and Florida, as does his flawed-but-likable protagonist Vince Tanzi, a retired deputy and now private investigator. Try the Tanzi series if you like page-turners with wit, action, romance, and vivid characters who lead complicated and unpredictable lives.
I have had it these stupid books where every woman must have the main character. I mean c'mon three women wanting this idiot. This trash even goes as far as one woman having an orgasm with his kiss and another woman who is engaged falling for him all the while he is married with a nine month old baby. Booooo, boooooo, booooo
C.I. Dennis' mystery held my attention entirely. Vince Tanzi is a delightful character, and all of the supporting characters are as well. The story line was complex yet easy to follow, and the resolution made me happy and looking forward to reading another Tanzi adventure.
I have become hooked on Tanzi. If you like fast paced private eye adventures these sure fit the bill. The last one had me exploring Vermont. Now we are back in Florida with some Cuba thrown in for diversity. Just some good escapism.
An interesting PI story with a terribly flawed but kind-hearted main character. There is much in the story that is very tongue in cheek, such as every good-looking woman he meets wants him in their bed, but all in all a very entertaining read with great character development and a steady moving plot. Lots of humor along the way. Didn't think I would like this one because of the baby, but it worked too. I couldn't help but wonder if Tanzi is the author's alter ego, just maybe?
I like the way the book reads, even though it seems to be about a lot of different things thrown together, then connections made among them. Kidnapping, baby, kidnapped baby, cheating wives, cheating husbands, big boats, big money, Cuba, fake priest, nuns, massage therapist, changing diapers on the beach, murder(s) by cop, other murders, Baptiste, etc etc etc....
This book has everything. A fast paced thriller that you can't put down. I enjoy all books based in Florida, especially in areas I am familiar with, so this book was great.
Lots of surprises mixed with the suspense in this one. More murders and kidnapping add to the enjoyment of another great novel from this talented author.
This guy has bad luck. Just started the series in the middle. Don't! Too much stuff you don't know. I'll try to get the first 2 and maybe it will be better
The characters are well developed and plausible. The plot is generally well designed except that certain twists are too exaggerated to my personal taste.
This was a really good read. Interesting main character, good supporting cast, a story that builds, with some twists, and a good pace. I definitely enjoyed this and would read more in the series.
C.I. Dennis has got me hooked on the character, Vince Tanzi. As long as Dennis keeps writing this series, I'll keep reading it. Highly recommend this author!
