The girl’s heart races as she edges towards the bright yellow farmhouse where children’s toys lie carelessly in the overgrown grass. The air is too still. On the front porch, a woman takes her last breath and crumples to the ground…
Special Agent Nikki Hunt feels her chest tighten as she looks down at the body sprawled beside the lilac bushes. This morning, her ten-year-old daughter Lacey witnessed the murder of local mother Elle Harper. Out riding her bike, Lacey saw the killer escape from the house and rushed inside to protect Elle’s daughters Maisy and Maya.
Nikki promises Lacey she’ll do whatever it takes to help the poor innocent girls who now sit in her house clutching their teddies. But before she has a chance to return them to the safety of their stepfather Tim, he’s reported missing. Local gossip suggests that fights between Elle and Tim had been spilling out of the farmhouse, and Nikki soon wonders if Maisy and Maya were ever safe in their own home.
But just as Nikki zones in on her suspect, she realizes she’s too late. A body is pulled from the river, and Nikki’s heart shatters as Tim is pronounced dead. Nikki’s gut tells her that someone is targeting the whole family. But with this killer stalking her in the shadows, what sacrifices will she have to make to save them, and keep her promise to her daughter?

I don’t usually write reviews but was super disappointed with this book. The storyline was nonsensical and if I had to read about gravel crunching or the smell of stale coffee one more time my head was going to explode… there has to be some other ways you can set the scene…
If you have not read this series yet and you love police procedurals, you need to read this series. The books are written that you can jump in the series at anytime. I started a few books ago and love it. Agent Nikki Hunt is investigating a murder her daughter was a witness to. It is set in Minnesota in August and I can relate to the hot and humid weather that was a constant presence in the book. The author does a wonderful job of mixing in relationships and a mother’s fierce ability to protect her child at all costs along with the law enforcement storyline.
Witnessing a crime—and in this case, a murder—must be horrifying. I honestly don’t know how I would react if I were to see such a terrible act unfold before my eyes. And what must it be like for a ten-year-old girl? Yet when that girl turns out to be the daughter of Special Agent Hunt, she proves to be far more level-headed than I could ever imagine being. Is it because she has already been exposed to violence more than once in her young life, or because of her parents’ profession? Perhaps it’s a combination of both, but either way, I take my hat off to her. Of course, this experience doesn’t leave her untouched, and Nikki does everything in her power to protect her daughter while at the same time bringing the hunt for the killer to a successful conclusion.
There are plenty of suspects, but one by one they are eliminated—some of them in rather unpleasant ways. At times, the investigation seems to be completely stuck, but giving up is not an option for Nikki and her team. They persist and dig into every detail until that one crucial lead opens everything up.
I’m still amazed at how cruel people can be in their pursuit of something they desperately want. Who becomes the victim is completely irrelevant to them. Egoism at its worst. But eventually, they are exposed, even though they believed themselves to be untouchable and infallible. Sadly, the pain and grief they cause can never be undone.
Yet another fantastic new installment in this series. Packed with tension and emotion, it forms a powerful whole. I’m a fan. 5 stars.
Who killed Elle Harper? Nikki is back and on the hunt to find out. When Nikki's daughter Lacey is a witness to the murder of Elle. Nikki will stop at nothing to catch the killer. This is book # 11 in the series, and honestly, just as great as book #1, I don't know how Stacy Green still keeps me captivated, but she does. Excellent book and series!
not sure why the author decided to change her writing style for this book, but it was excessively descriptive about literally everything. it was almost to the point that I did not finish the book. many of the descriptions did not make sense, it really took away from the actual story.
would like to thank netgalley and the publisher for letting me read this book
when lacey stopped to take pictures of the flowers she never imagined what she would witness next..... luckily for her she was hidden from view but the pop and the womans body hitting the ground made her hide a bit more... but it was the little girl emerging from the house that had her running to save her
omg this book had me on tenterhooks so many red herrings galore never saw it coming at all... but what an ending
cant wait for the next book in this brilliant series
Lacey, Special Agent Nikki Hunt’s young daughter, is cycling on a path near her house when she stops to take a picture of some flowers. She is hidden from the house, so the woman inside won’t think she is snooping. The woman comes out to the porch. Lacey hears a shot, and the woman collapses. Lacey runs and hides in some dry grass, listening for the shooter. She sees the woman's toddler come out on the porch. She runs to the porch and grabs the child. She calls 911 to report the murder. The operator tells her to go into the house. She does and locks the door. She hears a baby crying and a car on the gravel driveway, with someone walking. The operator tells her to get to a room and lock the door. The police are two minutes out. Lacey goes upstairs with the toddler. With this frightening start, this novel begins.
There are two main storyline threads in this novel. The first is the investigation of the murder that opens the novel. The second is an arson murder of the owner and his assistant while conducting an inventory. Both cases start with more speculation than facts. As facts are discovered, they do not seem to fit together to point to a suspect. Over five people take their turn in the investigation's spotlight and, at times, return to it. After each interview, new facts emerge that affect the investigation’s direction. Besides two very complex cases, her major problem is that her daughter saw the murder of the woman. She is afraid that she will be identified as the witness, and the killer will come after her. Hunt must spend time ensuring that her daughter is safe and, more importantly, that her daughter feels secure. Hunt must do something similar for the two daughters of the murdered woman. Hunt narrates all but three chapters, so readers will only know what she sees or is told. If this looks like a recipe for a difficult story to read, do not let that stop you, because I had no problems following this novel. It was a quick, easy read that let me finish it 25% faster than my usual time for a novel this size.
There is one significant B-storyline thread. It is the relationship between Hunt and her daughter, Lacey, who witnesses a murder at an earlier age than Hunt found her parents murdered. She begins to see Lacey’s mind working and processing information as she does after seeing something that no young girl should see. Watching Hunt handle this situation provides much insight into her character and makes for interesting reading. Adding how Hunt acts and responds to crises completes the rest of her character. Her character development is one of the best in this series.
Some aspects that can cause some readers to stop reading are moderate in this novel. There are no intimate scenes. Objectionable language and impious language are very minimal. Except for the prologue and a chapter very near the end, all violence is described in the less-than-edgy, after-the-fact style. I have read all but one novel in this series, and all references to events in previous novels are adequately backfilled, so I believe it can be read first.
Honestly, I could not find any aspect of this novel that I disliked or that reduced my reading enjoyment. On the side of what I liked was the B-storyline of Hunt protecting her daughter, and how all the pieces of the two complex cases fall into place as the novel proceeds. All the potential loose ends that I found were tied up before the end. I could not stop reading this novel. This novel is my favorite in this series. I highly recommend reading this novel. Stacy Green is one of my Must-Read authors. She writes in a note in the book that more novels are on the way this year. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and rate it with five stars.
I received the free, pre-publication e-book version of this novel from Bookouture through NetGalley. My review is based solely on my own reading experience. Thank you, Bookouture, for the opportunity to read and review this novel early.
Gripping, mysterious, shocking, and thrilling! Stacy Green and Special Agent Nikki Hunt are back with Save Her Family!!!! I have been a HUGE fan of this series since the very first book, The Girls in the Snow! This series is a MUST READ for me. Save Her Familyis the 11th book in the Nikki Hunt series and I am already looking forward to the next book.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt's ten-year-old daughter Lacey witnessed the horrific murder of a woman at the beginning of this book. That sets the stage for Nikki to go full throttle into the murder investigation. Her daughter being an eyewitness puts her in danger and Nikki is not about to let anything happen to her child. Readers of the series know that Nikki has seen and experienced her fair share of loss since her teenage years. She has grown into a strong, hardworking and determined Special agent who will not let anything get in her way of solving crimes. This time it is personal, and Nikki will not be deterred.
I enjoyed the mystery in this book. I love how Stacy Green balances Nikki's personal life with her professional life. I have enjoyed the character development throughout this series. I also enjoyed the teamwork in solving cases and the investigative work involved. Nikki comes up against quite a few characters and suspects who have secrets and are not too forthcoming. As the book progressed, I could feel Nikki's frustration and her resolve to get to the bottom of things. I also tried to do my best super sleuthing as I read to determine whodunit.
As with the other books in this series, Save Her Family was gripping, has a great mystery, interesting characters, tension, twists, and shocking moments. As I mentioned earlier, I am already ready to read what comes next!
3.5 stars
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
Firstly thank you to Bookouture for once again asking me to take part in the Book Tour for Stacey Green's latest installment in the Nikki Hunt Series. Secondly apologies for the late post (family emergency).
To start, if you haven't already dipped your toes into this series, I implore you to pick up the first book and start, you will not regret it! It's definitely a series, in my opinion, that you need to read from the beginning, there is SO much backstory and character development that you won't and don't want to miss!
In book #11, Nikki is tasked with investigating a murder that her 10 year old daughter Lacey is witness to. The victim is Nikki's neighbour Elle, shot dead whilst her toddler Maisey is inside, unharmed. Lacey grabs the girl and runs, showing how Nikki's own bravery has rubbed off on her daughter. Elle's husband wasn't at home but now can't be found. While all the clues point to him, Nikki doesn't believe it, her gut is telling her something different and she's always one to follow her gut instincts.
Whilst on the hunt for the killer, Nikkin does everything in her power to protect her daughter, nothing and nobody will ever come in the way of that!
Whilst at times the case seems to find itself going nowhere, there are plenty of suspects, that one by one ate dismissed and not always in the most pleasant way.
There are two threads to this storyline. Firstly the murder of Elle and secondly the supposed arson and death of a shop owner and his assistant. They don't appear to be connected but as Nikki and her team start diving into both cases, some of those threads start weaving together, coincidence or are they linked?.
As we've come to know and love, book #11 is another multi layered and complex plot with many crossroads, plenty of red herrings and a plot that gives you palpitations.
This felt alot more personal than previous books. While we've learnt and been fed those tit bits throughout the series so far, this book truly showed what a powerhouse Nikki is and her unwavering and unstoppable love she has for Lacey. The lioness in her was truly awoken and it was such a beautiful side plot weaved through the book.
Gripping from start to finish with the most perfect character execution and a 0lot that had me guessing the whole way through. Absolutely perfect!
Huge thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC.
Save Her Family is another gripping, emotionally charged installment in Stacy Green’s Nikki Hunt series—one that blends high‑stakes suspense with the raw vulnerability of a mother fighting to protect not just her community, but her own child.
The book opens with a chilling scene: a quiet farmhouse, children’s toys scattered in the grass, and a woman collapsing on her porch. It’s the kind of atmospheric, heart‑pounding beginning Green excels at. But what makes this case hit even harder is the fact that Nikki’s ten‑year‑old daughter, Lacey, witnessed the killer fleeing the scene. That personal connection adds a layer of urgency and emotional tension that runs through the entire novel.
Nikki is at her best here—sharp, determined, and deeply human. Her promise to protect Elle Harper’s daughters, Maisy and Maya, feels both professional and profoundly personal. Green handles the children’s trauma with sensitivity, and their presence gives the story a tender undercurrent that balances the darker moments.
As the investigation widens, the mystery tightens beautifully. The missing stepfather, the whispers of domestic conflict, the sense that someone is systematically targeting this family—every thread pulls you deeper into the case. And just when Nikki thinks she’s closing in, the discovery of a body in the river shifts everything again. Green’s pacing is impeccable; each twist lands with impact without ever feeling forced.
What really stands out is the way the novel explores the cost of being both an agent and a mother. Nikki’s fear for Lacey, her guilt, her fierce protectiveness—they all feel authentic and add emotional weight to the procedural elements. The danger stalking her in the shadows raises the stakes even further, making the final act especially tense.
Save Her Family is a fast, addictive read with heart, danger, and a heroine you can’t help rooting for. Fans of Lisa Regan, Mary Burton, and Kendra Elliot will find themselves racing through the pages, eager for the next revelation.
A compelling, twist‑filled thriller that keeps you invested from start to finish.
With thanks to Stacy Green, the publisher and netgalley for the ARC.
This was a hard one for me. I have LOVED the nikki hunt series and really enjoyed books 1-10 in this series. I have given books 1-10 mostly 5s with a 4 here or there. This one is getting a 3 (honestly more of a 2 but i love the author too much to do it) at best which is so shocking ! I usually LOVE this author and even follow the emails to know when the next hunt series book gets released, but whew Book 11 here was a struggle. The idea for the plot was ok, but it felt rushed. It felt convoluted (i kept forgetting who was who) while also being way more predictable than all the others. I had an idea of who just a few chapters in by a comment the narrator made before anything even took place. There was soooo much repetition that it started driving me bonkers, until I decided to search for how often it happened. I feel like for a solid chunk of the book every other paragraph mentioned how hot it was. One chapter I even tallied and it was genuinely almost every other paragraph. We talked more about the heat than the case! I get it, its summer in the book lol. We also talked about the killer’s obsession for control a dozen times. Her fury over lacey being a witness and the fear of her “being just like me” was also said dozens of times. If you put those 3 back to back it takes nearly have the pages away. It just wasnt needed so constantly. And there was also so much random flowery metaphors randomly. I dont mind flowery language but it just felt out of place and not typical for this series. Honestly it felt like publishers gave a due date the author couldnt meet so they rushed it out as fast as possible with little substance. Like- the characters didnt even feel the same. Nikki, liam, miller, lacey all felt like different characters than usual. And our others (me and reporter) made like 1 appearance. I just dont understand what happened here. Almost felt like it was written by someone else and not stacy.
FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt’s daughter Lacey is ten years old. How did that happen already? She’s out riding her bike when she stops near an old farmhouse. She stops to snap a picture of some wild flowers when a woman steps out, talking on the phone. Lacey crouches down. Then she hears it. Sees it. Lacey knows the woman has been shot. Suddenly, a toddler appears, and without hesitation, Lacey’s on the move, ready to help.
Two innocent young girls have lost their mother, but this is only the beginning of what proves to be a vicious, puzzling case. It involves not just this murder, but also arson, which takes two more lives. There are suspects, the case is complex.
Two little girls deserve to be safe, as does Lacey, who, as a minor, should not – cannot- be revealed as the witness to the first murder. That doesn’t mean that word might not leak out. She worries that her daughter thinks and reacts so much like she does. Please, don’t let her choose to do this work, she thinks. Nikki is stressed to the max, and she knows that they need a break in the case soon before anyone else gets killed.
I read and read and read. I put it down, thinking I needed to go to sleep, and I picked it up again, needing to know who dunnit! By then I knew, but I still needed to get the answers.
Well done, Ms. Green. Well done.
Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and the author for an ARC copy of Save Her Family. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
SAVE HER FAMILY is the eleventh book in the Nikki Hunt series, a gripping crime thriller set in Stillwater, Minnesota by best-selling author Stacy Green.
The books in the Nikki Hunt Series include: 1. The Girls in the Snow (2020) 2. One Perfect Grave (2021) 3. Lost Angels (2021) 4. The Girl in the Ground (2021) 5. The Trapped Ones (2022) 6. Her Frozen Heart (2022) 7. Her Last Tear (2023) 8. Bone Lake (2023) 9. Stolen Mothers (2024) 10. Little Child Gone (2025) 11. Save Her Family
This is my review of Save Her Family.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt feels pain that her ten-year-old daughter Lacey witnessed the murder of their neighbor, local mother Elle Harper. Lacey had been out riding her bike, when she saw the killer escape from the house and rushed inside to protect Elle’s daughters four-year-old Maisy and six-month-year-old, Maya. Lacey had heard the shot and saw the woman go down.
Lacey had been through a lot…witnessing her father’s murder. But Lacey had Nikki’s instincts and knew what to do. Nikki promises Lacey she’ll do whatever it takes to find the mother’s killer. But when Nickki is ready to turn the girls over to their stepfather Tim, he’s reported missing.
Now Tim becomes the prime suspect.
But then a body is pulled from the river, and Tim is pronounced dead.
Who is targeting this family? Nikki must keep her promise to her daughter, to expose the killer.
This is a brilliant thriller that had me flipping the pages until the final twist. This novel explores both sides of being both a mother and an agent. Another winner!
Many thanks to the author, Bookouture, and NetGalley, for my digital copy.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt's ten year old daughter, Lacey, was riding her bike home when she spotted some pretty lilacs. She squatted down to take a photo, heard a popping noise, and the lady who was on the phone in front of the house collapsed. Lacey called authorities, then ran inside to keep the two children - four year old Maisie, and six month old Maya - safe. When Nikki was called to the scene she was horrified at what her daughter had become involved in, albeit unintentionally.
But as more people died, Nikki and her partner Liam, along with Sheriff Miller, knew someone was targeting the family, and they needed to find that someone before it was too late. They had plenty of suspects, and gradually they confirmed alibis and narrowed the suspects down. But Nikki knew they were racing against the clock; fatigue was an issue for them all, but they pushed it aside. Would they find the culprit, so everyone could go home safely?
Save Her Family is #11 in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green and once again it was brilliant! Faced paced, working against the clock, with memories of Nikki's past slipping in now and then, her strength of character and determination shine out. This series is excellent, and I have no hesitation in recommending it - and this episode - highly.
With thanks to NetGalley & Bookouture for my digital ARC to read and review.
REVIEW Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
STORYLINE : A murder case that hit close to home for an FBI agent whose daughter witnessed a murder case. The book started with the murder of a mother of two, the missing father and a fire incident. I liked the book's perfect pace and the players involved. In this book, the book hits closer to home than ever. And, you wouldn't be able to guess who the actual culprit was or the motive behind it. It was a well-written book with elements that tied well together. I liked the discovery of new evidence and suspects. It was a good book.
CHARACTERS: Special Agent Nikki Hunt hit the ground running as a mother and a detective. Nikki was a likeable character and a very good detective. I liked that she cared for the suspects and did her very best for them. She's a good one. The characters were okay, but I would have loved to see another POV from another detective or something. It would have been nicer.
WRITING STYLE: I don't really have any complaints. It's only that there was some confusion in some chapters when the POV was not Nikki's.
SETTINGS: No issues. They all tied in with other parts of the book and were realistic.
OVERALL: This is an amazing addition to the series. I have only read two books out of eleven, so you can read the books as standalone without any confusion. This book was very good in all aspects and I enjoyed reading it. I would definitely recommend
I'm a massive fan of the Nikki Hunt series, and once again, Stacy Green delivers a captivating read that will certainly keep you reading long into the night. As Nikki's ten-year-old daughter, Lacey, is out riding her bike, when she witnesses the murder of Elle Harper and sees the killer flee the scene. But bravely, Lacey heads inside the house to comfort Elle's two daughters and calls 911 for help.
However, just as Nikki promises she will do everything she can to keep the girls safe and find the killer, she learns that the girls' stepdad, Tim, has also been reported missing and local gossip suggests all wasn’t well between Elle and Tim, leaving Nikki to wonder whether Maisy and Maya were really safe at home.
But then a body is pulled from the river and soon pronounced dead, leaving those investigating to wonder who is targeting this family and why?
Yet for Nikki, she has far more to concern herself with than the investigation and the promise she made. As not only did Lacey see the killer, but she also witnessed the crime, and Nikki, from her own childhood, knows precisely what that can do to you.
Then there's also the matter of another case involving an arson murder, which turns out to be just as complicated and complex as the murder of Elle Harper.
And with red herrings, excellent pacing, and a shocking twist. This was a cracking addition to the series that I'd happily recommend to all.
My thanks to Bookouture for the opportunity to read an early copy of Save Her Family. All thoughts expressed are my own. ☺️
This is the eleventh book in the Nikki Hunt series. Each one is tense and emotional.
In this book you find out who murdered not only Nikki's neighbor but also a few other people in the town. What was the motive. What did each have in common. Someone who refused to be undone. Someone who thought they were above the law and would never be caught. A person who had to have things their way no matter what!!
Nikki Hunt's daughter Lacey witnesses a murder. She sees when the woman is shot and killed. But she does not see who did it. She has no idea why someone would do this. She only wants to help the small girl that is left, along with her infant sister. Lacey is terrified but determined. She takes the child inside and locks the door. Then she hears the footsteps on the porch.
This book takes you on a wild ride. Through a few murders. A fire that caused the death of two and through Nikki's determination to solve the case.
I did figure out who the killer was. It was just obvious to me. It didn't take away from the story though. It just kept me reading to see if I was right. To find out why. To see if this person would try to harm Nikki's child. Of course Nikki solves this one as she did every other one.
This was a good read that kept me turning the pages. Kept me guessing until it just finally hit me who was who and why they did this heinous crime. What drives a person to kill. What makes a person a cold stone murder???
I love this series. The characters. The tone. The cases. And Nikki’s past as it’s evolved to the present. That’s what makes this book all the better. It becomes personal when her daughter is a witness to a murder. Find a killer and protect your daughter. When it’s your job, what do you prioritize?
Not twisty but a straightforward, well plotted police procedural with plenty of suspects and some tough issues for the main character. She found her parents murdered years ago so it’s not just the stress of her daughter witnessing a murder but all that brings up for her. And that it intertwines with her job as she works on not one case but two.
That’s a lot to pack into a short novel but Green does it with remarkable ease. The layered plot weaves together and never feels like all that is going on. It just drags you in and doesn’t let up.
I’ll be honest, this is easily read as a stand alone, but all of Nikki’s complex past adds a lot to this one and really made it stand out for me. That is part of what makes me love the series. Nikki is a strong, capable woman. She’s relatable and while this one tests her, she is not prone to breaking. She’s surrounded by a team that works well together and supports each other while getting the job done. I’d highly recommend catching up and reading the entire series if you are a fan of police procedurals.
Save Her Family by Stacy Green Holy buckets. This was fast-paced and emotional in so many ways. I adore this series, and I love Nikki as a main character.
The way this story unfolded was wild. I had my ideas about who was guilty- never expecting it to be the actual person it was. The way Green writes is delicious and brilliant. She can curate a story that sucks you in and holds you hostage.
I loved how emotionally driven this book was. While we have seen the growth and development of these characters and have followed Nikki along her own journey, this book also includes Lacey in the mix. We saw an entirely new side to Nikki, and she is just as badass as you would think.
I am ready for the next installation in this series. It just keeps getting better. And given what was said in this book, I have to know where Nikki’s head is with her career and being a mom. I also want to see what development is in store for Lacey, because she is now a trauma survivor (again), and this will have some impact.
Brilliant writing, excellent plotting, and beautiful character development. This was everything I could have asked for in a Nikki Hunt book.
Publication date: January 19, 2026 Publisher: Bookouture
The mysterious deaths and search for the killer were the basis for a good plot, unpredictable, with a fair selection of suspects and extra emotional connection with young parents Tim and Elle and their two young daughters. And Nikki's own daughter Lacey is entwined in the tragedy having witnessed one of the murders.
But I had an issue with passages of copious, irrelevant details about scenery, the look and layout of a house, etc. and constant mentions of the summer heat. Why? The extra scene-setting did not add to the drama and just slowed down the narrative so, for me, the pace often lagged. The story features a commercial business fire as a second potential crime scene, but the fire victims seemed only a bare blip footnote and that did not seem right to me. The killer's final actions after Nikki and her team finally zero in did not make much sense, either. They led to a quick wrap-up of the case, but just made me shake my head in disbelief. And the selection of title baffled me. I've read much better in the series which I've followed from its genesis.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.
Save Her Family by Stacy Green is the 11th in the FBI Agent Nikki Hunt series.
First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Bookouture, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was another really good addition to the series.
I continue to like the characters. Nikki's concern for her daughter was evident in this book, and her memories of her own childhood and finding her murdered parents came up often. She is worried that Lacey would have to go through the same thing that she had. Her compassion expanded to the two little girls left behind. It was definitely a family-oriented story. But it also looked at obsession and lies.
Although there were no real twists in the book, the story was well laid out, and kept me interested from start to finish. It was a fast read.
So I still recommend this series, and I still recommend reading the books in order.
For a more thorough review of this book and others (including the reason I chose to read/review this book, my own synopsis of the book, and its author information), please visit my blog: http://katlovesbooksblog.wordpress.com/
In true form for Stacy Green, Save Her Family opens with incredible tension! FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt’s daughter Lacey witnessed the murder of a young mother. Nikki is very concerned for Lacey’s safety, and there is a history there when it comes to Nikki’s protective nature about Lacey. However, Riley is not the only one Nikki is concerned about. The woman had two young children, and Nikki is worried for their safety as well.
At first, Nikki is looking into a case of arson that left a man dead. Meanwhile, Nikki is determined to find the perpetrator of the murder. However, another body has been found with a definite connection to one of Nikki’s cases. The mystery deepens as questions arise about the woman’s death and the fate of the children. Who will ensure their safety?
This gripping story not only showcased Nikki’s relentless quest for justice but also highlighted the close bond between her and Lacey. Lacey, a charming little girl, plays a starring role in this novel. With excellent pacing and a quick one-sitting read, I can’t wait for the twelfth book in the series.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.
Special Agent Nikki Hunt has seen her share of tragedy, both personal and professional, but when her daughter witnesses the murder of their next-door neighbor, she worries about the impact this will have on her. It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood, when Nikki's daughter is looking out the window and sees the woman walk outside and collapse. Because of her experience and who her mother is, she quickly calls 911 and reports the murder. After Nikki gets the call, while she's attending the scene of an explosion that kills two people, she promises her daughter that she will find the killer. The first suspect is always the husband, who is currently missing. Nikki discovers important information about his ex-girlfriend, who followed him to a new state. The victim was a widow with a daughter from the previous marriage and one from her current relationship. The parents of her deceased husband have stayed involved with their grandchild's life, but Nikki senses that things are a bit off with the mother-in-law. The case takes many twists and turns as Nikki tries to keep her promise to find the killer. It's a great adventure.
If you have read any of the books in this awesome series you know that Special Agent Nikki Hunt is headstrong with a capital H. She has suffered a lot of loss in her life, but it has only served to make her stronger.
When her 10 year old daughter, Lacey, witnesses the cold-blooded murder of a neighbor, Lacey acts with calm as she dials 911 all while making sure the two young children the in the house are safe. Only the daughter of Nikki Hunt could be so level-headed. Nikki is livid that her daughter had to witness something so gruesome. But more importantly she is scared for her daughter wondering if the killer saw her.
The mystery deepens with each chapter as another body is found. Nikki is going to have her hands full with this one. The suspects are untrustworthy. She knows some or all of them are lying. There is an underlying sense of menace with some extremely unlikable characters.
Pow, pow, pow - the hits just kept coming which meant I was glued to the pages until the author wrapped it up with a bloody bow that left me reeling. Wow! I can't believe that just happened.
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Lacey is a ten year old girl out on a bike ride. She stops to get off her bike to take a picture of flowers when she hears a pop sound. She looks up to see her neighbor go down on the sidewalk. She calls police and gets the daughter back into the house. She realizes there is also a baby in the house. Lacey's mom is Special Agent Nikki Hunt and soon she will be on the scene.
Nikki is shocked by the brutal scene her daughter just witnessed. She has tried to protect her the best she can. Your heart goes out to Nikki as she hurts for what her daughter had to witness and knows from experience the pain she is going through.
Nikki is trying to solve this murder and protect her daughter and the community. This has plenty of suspects and all of them trying to cover their tracks. The bodies are starting to pile up. Who is targeting this family and why?
Nikki Hunt is one of my favorite characters as she has experienced so much tragedy but keeps on going. She can be sympathetic to those around her and share her experiences to help others. I have enjoyed the whole series.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for advance copy for review.
I don't know if it's a me thing but I've struggled with the latest additions to a few series that I normally love. I still highly recommend this series but this wasn't my favourite. I love seeing all of the side characters
One of the things I struggled with was the number of times it mentions how hot it was. It felt like there was a mention of sweat, the heat and air con every paragraph.
My main problem was that when they suspect a certain character, they don't do anything about it and then act surprised when that person does something bad. Nikki curses herself for not seeing it sooner when she did see it and she saw it in time to do something. It didn't make sense.
I also struggle with long running crime series when they constantly have the main detective and their family in danger. There's plenty of suspense without it.
The case did keep me guessing though. There are plenty of suspects and twists and turns to keep it interesting. Whilst I didn't love this one I will definitely check out any future releases.
I read an arc

This was another solid installment in the series that delivers exactly what I’ve come to expect, and even more: strong suspense, emotional stakes, and a fast-moving investigation that keeps the pages turning. The case itself is compelling, with a chilling opening and a mystery that quickly widens to suggest an entire family is being targeted. The tension builds well, and the twists kept me engaged right through to the end.
Nikki Hunt remains a reliable and engaging lead, balancing her role as an agent with her instincts as a mother. While I appreciated the higher personal stakes, I found myself enjoying the storyline involving Nikki’s daughter less than I expected. Lacey’s central role in the case certainly raises the emotional intensity, but for me it occasionally pulled focus away from the investigation itself.
That said, the book definitely delivers on suspense and pacing, and it fits seamlessly into the series. Fans of Nikki Hunt will be satisfied, and anyone looking for a dependable, gripping crime thriller will find plenty to enjoy here. I definitely did!
The premise of Save Her Family by Stacy Green promises a serious kick in the gut, and while I was really intrigued going in, it ultimately did not deliver that impact for me. The writing is solid and the pacing is strong, so on a technical level the story works well. I never felt bored or bogged down while reading.
That said, I just never fully connected with the characters, which made the big reveal fall a bit flat. Without that emotional investment, the shock and awe moment the story was clearly building toward did not hit as hard as it should have. The stakes were there on paper, but emotionally I felt a little too removed to really feel them.
Because of that, I am not sure this is the best book to start the Nikki Hunt series with. I can see the appeal of the series overall, and I would still be open to trying another installment, but this one did not quite pull me in the way I was hoping. A decent read with good pacing, just not the emotional punch I was expecting.
Save Her Family Stacy Green is the 11th book within the excellent Special Agent Nikki Hunt series and WoW this book was excellent from the very beginning till the very end. Once you open you kindle and start to read any of these books within this excellent series you are hooked and I can not turn the pages to find out what happens next, this one was no different. Plus, I love the Special Agent Nikki Hunt character.
This book starts with a Bang! when Nikki's 10 year old daughter Lacey witnesses the murder of local mother Elle Harper. Out riding her bike, Lacey saw the killer escape from the house and rushed inside to protect Elle’s daughters Maisy and Maya. Now, this puts Nikki to solve a chilling case which involves a targeted family and why she was murdered.
WoW, this book is full of brilliant twists and turns I could not put it down. I did not want this book to end and now looking forward to the next book within this excellent series. I highly recommend this series, Another 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.
