Rate this book
GET TWENTY-ONE GRIPPING VICTORIAN HISTORICAL MYSTERIES IN THIS GREAT-VALUE BOX SET. Follow quick-witted and fearless Hester Lynton in her many eccentric short-story cases.

Hester Lynton, a former private investigator, believed her days of solving mysteries were behind her — now that she's retired to the peaceful solitude of Dartmoor. But when no matter where she goes a fresh case follows —whether it’s a missing governess or a suspicious death — Hester is once again drawn into the world of danger and intrigue that she thought she left behind.

MEET HESTER LYNTON
Hester Lynton is a skilled and resourceful private investigator, renowned for her sharp intellect and unwavering moral compass. Having gained fame in the late 1800s for solving complex cases, including the notorious Harley Street Poisoner affair, she built a reputation as a formidable investigator. Now retired in the peaceful surroundings of Dartmoor, Hester enjoys a quieter life but remains ever perceptive and willing to assist when new mysteries arise.

In her earlier years, Hester worked as a private tutor, fluent in foreign languages, which provided her with a modest income. Though she no longer seeks out cases, her sharp mind and strong sense of justice keep her engaged. Whether in the bustling streets of London or the quiet corners of Dartmoor, she continues to solve mysteries with poise and precision.

Perfect for fans of Sherlock Holmes, Anne Perry, Deanna Raybourn, Sherry Thomas and Laurie R. King.

This was an enjoyable collection of short stories set in the Victorian era where two female private detectives set about investigating unusual crimes.

The writing style suited the era and I liked both Hester and Ivy, whose intelligence and determination were entertaining to follow.

A peek into the times with some twisty plots.

Amazing tales of female detectives

Each fresh tale is intriguing. As the story evolves the clues twist and turn. I was very sad to reach the end of the very gripping stories.

Good series

Plucky lady detectives solved crimes in the late 19th century. While the stories have some typographical errors, they are worth reading if you like cozy mysteries.
