I love me a good low angst book and I was here for these sweet moments with Rex and Perry. These two had my heart so much and I could not put this book down as I got to watch these two fall in love.
When Rex finds out that his brother is getting married and to his ex, which Nigel, doesn’t know, he decides to find someone for the wedding since apparently he said he’s dating someone now. I love me a good fake dating concept and it worked so well.
I absolutely love how Rex is not deterred by Perry’s job of being in the adult entertainment industry. Also, Perry being a veterinarian is everything and the way that Rex is with the cat and babies when he had to do an emergency surgery. Swoon my heart.
This book seriously had me in my feels. When Perry was in his feels about Rex not being jealous had me giggling.
I just love how these two just fall for one another and I was here for these cutest moments. All the cute animals please.
And Nigel and Simon. I seriously need more of these two because ohmygod!

These two have both had bad luck in love, more bad taste in men. Rex is meeting his baby brothers fiancé for the first time and come to find out it's one of his exes, more of a fling/rebound than a full relationship. He kind of panics and doesn't tell his brother going along as if meeting for the first time. When asked if he is bringing someone to the wedding he says he's bringing his boyfriend, which he doesn't have.
Blue works for Rex and is best friends with Perry. Getting them together for the fake date to the wedding is easy as pie and a wit bit meddling. Perry goes into the arrangement with a certain demand of wanting to be taken on real dates before the wedding. This way they get to know each other, get more comfortable together, and Perry can finally be taken out instead of hidden away. Neither is really looking for someone when they get paired together but they hit it off instantly. Both men see themselves having a real relationship relatively quickly, although they maintain the fake dating unsure if they're on the same page about their feelings.
They're ridiculously sweet with each other and they help each other grow in their new relationship. There are some insecurities that pop up, which are to be expected since Perry is a porn star and most men aren't to keen on that profession for their partner. Rex also worries that his work schedule and his fostering could be a problem with Perry like it was for previous partners. They end up alleviating each others fears and realize that they are made for each other.
You get cameos from characters from the previous books and you get to see who is up next.

I've been loving the books in this series and this book is no exception! This was a sweet, feel good story that will have you giddily kicking your feet and rooting for the fake boyfriends to drop the fake part. Rex and Perry are just a sweet and great couple. I loved their dates and how natural everything seemed between. Their path from fake boyfriends to actual boyfriends felt natural and like it was the next necessary step in their lives. I really enjoyed seeing them interact and communicate and be truthful with each other. Their connection was undeniable from their first date.
It was great to see some characters that we've already come to know and love.
This was a sweet, cute, low-angst read that I thoroughly enjoy and I'm excited to see what's next from this author.

This is the fourth book in the Lights, Camera, Love series and can be enjoyed as a standalone. I’ve read all the books in this series and found all of them to be enjoyable, solid reads with good main characters finding unexpected love. This story is no exception. Perry is very experienced in sex, and has no experience with romance or love. Rex has done the love thing and gotten burned more than once, to the point he’d given up–but the prospect of giving Perry fun and romantic experiences, knowing that there are no real expectations behind it, is more than intriguing.
If you enjoy fake boyfriend tropes, or even pornstar relationship tropes, I think you’d enjoy this one. The pacing is good, and the emotional arc is solid, without a lot of unnecessary angst or forced separation.

I was so excited to know we’d be getting a book for Rex! I immediately liked his vibe from Ash, Blue and Jax’s story and hoped for a happily ever after in his future. Cue the dramatic need for some special assistance and here comes Perry, the perfect match for our favorite veterinarian.
Something I always look for is a relationship that develops organically because no one likes when things feel forced, and E.M. Denning doesn’t disappoint us. We get more adorable sweetness in this book, with the splash of spice we’ve come to expect after reading the previous books. I love that this series has consistently been low angst, but without that over the top fluff that can sometimes make one roll their eyes. This book was a perfect addition to Lights, Camera, Love!

Fade Out, by E.M. Denning, is the fourth book in the Lights, Camera, Love series. When Rex, a Veterinarian, finds himself in need of a fake boyfriend for his brother’s wedding, a mutual connection introduces him to Perry, an adult entertainer. The two agree to a series of fake dates to build – up a history, only there’s precious little faking going on as the two go on to develop a very sweet, very swoony and very spicy love story.
I adored everything about this book, and it is pretty much the perfect romance. Rex has popped in at least two of the previous books and it was nice to finally get to meet him properly. He was such a great character who loved his job and his brother, he was effortlessly kind and more gracious than he should be, with an unfortunate habit of making poor partner choices. I really liked how thoughtful he was and how he went out of his way to put Perry at ease and put him first. He was the perfect Gentleman! Similarly, I thought Perry was an absolute sweetheart and I just wanted to hug him. He hadn’t had the best time and like Rex, he also had an unfortunate habit of making poor relationship choices. Although he was confident in himself professionally, he was less so personally and longed for someone to be with him. It was heartwarming to see Rex show Perry that he was worth it and Rex constantly reassure him despite Perry’s fear regarding his job on any potential relationship. It was hugely refreshing to see two characters have such good communication skills, at every stage when they realised how they felt, they would acknowledge it, act on it and then speak to each other about it. Honestly, the communication in all parts of their relationship was one of my favourite parts!
As this was the fourth book in the series, there was brief world building and we revisited some of the earlier characters, although you could probably read this reasonably easily without having read any of the previous books. I liked meeting some of the newer characters, particularly Nigel and Simon. As a nod to Rex’s career, there was no shortage of adorable animals, and my favourites were Gumball the cat and Danish the Dog. I would definitely recommend this book, and my only disappointment was how abruptly it ended. I would have loved to have spend more time with Rex and Perry as a couple.

Fade Out is my favorite of this particular trope. I love that E.M. Denning let the characters be authentic and didn’t choose to do a typical HEA.
Perry… my heart. I love him so much. I wanted to wrap him in bubble wrap and tell him everything would be alright. His backstory pulled at me and all I wanted was to see him happy. And that’s when E.M. Denning worked her magic.
Enter Rex, who with pain of his own, truly understood what Perry needed. I’m an animal lover so I was thrilled to see a vet. He’s one I had been wanting more of and I was not disappointed.
Seeing them come together was everything. The transition from fake dating to actual dating was as natural as breathing. There was the logical hesitancy that was expected from their pasts, but this author doesn’t rely on the typical miscommunication plot. Instead, the relationship unfolded with a level of care and maturity.
It would be a disservice not to mention the HEA. It’s an atypical one for the genre itself, but very much a HEA. Normally, when I read this trope, it's that they find happily ever after, and then the one who is working as a star leaves the industry. The pressure of monogamy is almost built in.
This entire series has done an excellent job of making sure not to push that. People remain in the industry, even if they sometimes shift where they are. In this case, no shifting was needed. Some may struggle with the sharing, but I enjoyed that authenticity. As Rex says, “Because he doesn’t share his heart with anyone else, and that’s the part of him that matters the most.”
Excuse me while I swoon over that. The maturity, understanding, and yes, hot chemistry is all there. I love how this author constantly pushes at typical expectations, going further than most. It shows a level of sensitivity and inclusiveness that I don’t find in other places.
The storyline was captivating. And the pop up cameos? Perfect. I know this will become a comfort read for me, because it sings to every part of me.

This book absolutely did not disappoint! I have absolutely loved this series and this was the perfect end to it! I love the tenderness that Rex shows Perry the entire way through the book. And I love that Perry melts for Rex but also does his best to keep his heart safe and to keep Rex’s best interests in mind. I love the way that Blue supports both Perry and Rex in this relationship and ultimately wants what is best for both of them. I also love the way that Quinn supports Perry when he gets nervous about their scene together. He could have very easily taken Perry at his word when he agreed to do the scene and fought to keep the original plan but instead he notices the problem that Perry is having and changes the scene and also makes sure repeatedly throughout the scene that Perry is ok. I love that this relationship never really seemed fake for either Rex or Perry but that from the get go they devote everything to the relationship under the guise of making their relationship look real. I also love the way that Rex tries his very best to support the decisions that Nigel has made but then also supports his decision to end the relationship with Trevor and is ultimately extremely happy for him and Simon…which I definitely need a book about their relationship now!! I love the way that Rex calms Perry’s fears about how Rex will accept his job and I love the way that Perry shows Rex that his job and hours don’t bother him. I love that they each can support and show their dedication to each other in a way that calms all the insecurities that come from their past relationships. The final chapter of this book was everything too because it shows how their relationship has grown but also shows what their relationship has always been. Overall I really enjoyed this book and this series and I’m so so sad that this series is over but I’m definitely looking forward to reading the other books by this author and hopefully finding out more about some of the characters that showed up in this series!!

A cute journey through a developing relationship where two scared people find each other. The fake dating didn't play much of a role here; you could've swapped it for, say, a blind date introduction and it would work pretty similarly. That's ok - it wasn't the kind of book where wacky misunderstandings would make sense. Instead, it dove a bit more deeply into why these guys, who seem pretty cool, aren't already with someone.
I liked how Rex really didn't care about Perry's career, given that he's a porn star, although there are bits of hints that Perry might be ready to do something else but doesn't know what that would be. (That's not followed up on, so maybe I was reading too much into those moments.) Perry sometimes seems too good to be true, not worried about Rex putting his work as a veterinarian before them when it's an emergency. I believe that he wasn't bothered, but Rex has more history with the problem. I guess I wanted to see how the two of them did after more time together.
I did find a couple of things that bothered me. The cover with the picture has a guy that looks too haunted to match the character of Perry as I saw him. More substantially, I read a digital ARC provided for review - and I thought the book could have used another editing pass. Chapters 3 and 4 seem to retread the same ground as 1 and 2, but with a bit of change, which confused me. Much later on, two couples agree at the wedding to go on a double date, but then both seem to promptly forget it. The pets are treated differently at different points, too.
It also bothered me that Rex at one point wonders whether Perry is ok with Rex telling people that Perry works in porn - but that conversation never happens, and I was left wondering why Rex didn't ask Perry his preference through many following chapters.

MY OPINION: I’ve read this series and have enjoyed all of the titles. The inside look at the industry and the human aspect is appealing and written in such a way that a reader doesn’t see it as seedy but as a job. Generally, I feel like this book is normalizing this part of the adult entertainment industry and I like it.
I will start off by saying you do get to see Blue quite a bit, but not much else from the other characters in the series. Which is fine by me because I love Blue. We get to know Perry, who works at various studios, including the one Blue works at. And when Blue helps out his boss, Rex, at the vet he works for by suggesting Perry be his fake boyfriend for his little brother’s wedding, feelings are found.
This is one of those books that’s a warm cup of coffee. A lot of people reread books; I am more of the type that finds comfort in certain tropes. The fact is these are great guys that deserve to find their person. Their jobs tend to be the problem, and finding someone that fits into that is an anomaly. This is a too-good-to-be-true story where the fake becomes real.
It’s important to note that Perry doesn’t change his job and continues working in the adult film industry. Rex knows, and he does scenes throughout their courting and after their coupling. If you have any problem with physical intimacy with MCs being with people outside the relationship, you should know what you are getting into. I loved how this was handled, how Rex leaned into Perry’s career, and how he really understood the difference between a scene and a relationship.

How is it possible that this series keeps getting better and better?! I’m obsessed!
Fake dating will always be one of my favorite tropes. I love seeing the MCs falling in love with each other when the deal was not to catch feelings.
In this case, it was extremely difficult for Perry not to fall for Rex at first sight. Rex was kind, attentive and supportive about his job without judgment. From the very beginning, Rex let Perry know it didn’t bother him what he did for work. Something Perry couldn’t believe given his track record.
It made Perry feel good to know that Rex was open minded and he secretly hoped they could be more. He wouldn’t hold his breath, though. Eventually Rex would come to his senses and Perry would be discarded once again.
But Rex meant it when he said Perry’s work wasn’t a problem. He actually found it hot to be dating a corn star even if it was fake. Perry was sweet and funny. Rex connected with him in a way he’s never had before.
What started out as a fake relationship turned out to be what Rex had always wanted. Someone who understood his career as a vet and his dedication to his animal patients. Someone who understood the late phone calls and sudden departures from a date.

Fake dating will always be one of my favorite tropes. I love seeing the MCs falling in love with each other when the deal was not to catch feelings.
In this case, it was extremely difficult for Perry not to fall for Rex at first sight. Rex was kind, attentive and supportive about his job without judgment. From the very beginning, Rex let Perry know it didn’t bother him what he did for work. Something Perry couldn’t believe given his track record.
It made Perry feel good to know that Rex was open minded and he secretly hoped they could be more. He wouldn’t hold his breath, though. Eventually Rex would come to his senses and Perry would be discarded once again.
But Rex meant it when he said Perry’s work wasn’t a problem. He actually found it hot to be dating a corn star even if it was fake. Perry was sweet and funny. Rex connected with him in a way he’s never had before.
What started out as a fake relationship turned out to be what Rex had always wanted. Someone who understood his career as a vet and his dedication to his animal patients. Someone who understood the late phone calls and sudden departures from a date.

While this is #4 in a series, it works fine as a standalone (I have not read the first 3, but it didn't seem necessary to understand this one).

Here, we follow Rex, the vet whom we’ve met in a couple of previous books, and Perry, one of the models/content creators who works for Lukas. The two are introduced by Blue, who also works for Lukas, but is also a vet tech at Rex’s clinic. This is a fake dating story, where Rex needs someone to accompany him to his brother’s wedding, and Perry insists on having proper dates to get to know each other in order to convincingly pull this off, and of course it doesn’t take long for the dating not to feel so fake after all!
Rex and Perry have both been hurt, and it was sweet to see them be so perfect for each other! Rex’s brother did annoy me at the start, but it becomes clear he’s struggling with something, and by the end I didn’t mind him so much. I did actually wonder whether he will get his own book; I definitely think the potential is there!
This book was sweet and spicy, and I had a good time reading it! Having finished this series in less than a week, I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants a short series of interconnected standalone MM romances, where the books are low angst and high spice, with a very good dash of sweetness, too!

Rex told his family that he has a boyfriend which was fine until he needed to actually bring him as his date to his brother's wedding. He gets a friend to help him source this fake boyfriend. Turns out that Perry has just come through a painful situation-ship gone wrong and he is open to helping out with a few caveats. He wants to be courted - even though this is not a real relationship. When they meet they discover that there is a zing there that only becomes more pronounced as they date and get to know one another in anticipation of the wedding. It was cool that they not only get along well, they actually communicate and are accepting of one another in a way that leads to them finding something real where neither was expecting it. This was low angst and pleasant.

I loved how thoughtful and caring Rex was with Perry, especially as Perry struggled to believe that someone could genuinely want him for more than his job. Perry was such a sweetheart, and watching his confidence grow throughout the story was adorable.
The communication between these two was honestly one of my favorite things. They talked about their feelings, respected each other and actually communicated instead of creating unnecessary drama.
There was plenty of sweetness, some spice, adorable animals and a really lovely romance. My only complaint? It ended way too soon! I wanted more time with Rex and Perry together.

Neither were truly appreciated and their respective jobs caused so many problems because of jealousy for both of them.
Red's ex's couldn't understand him prioritizing his animal clients over them and Perry's ex's just hated him being an adult film star.
I loved how these two sweet men were able to start a friendship to pretend to be fake boyfriends to be more convincing and that they slowly fell in love in the process.

Overall, this book was good. I liked how mature and level-headed Rex was, it was so great to see a character that isn’t an uber jealous jerk about their boyfriend doing sex work. Perry was a sweetheart, just a everyday porn star looking for love and acceptance. The premise is a little contrived, and all their “oh no, what if he doesn’t like me like I like him?!?” was kinda silly, but I don’t read romance for the realism, ya know?
I am SUPER disappointed that though they talked about both being versatile and made a big deal about Rex not liking his preference being assumed and then NADA. A toy doesn’t count. Grrr…

Gumball, trouser snake, attention whore, lethal dog farts, doggy stairs, bald spots, plastic cutlery place settings, BJ Olympics, darts sandbagger, black beast, 'little drama queen, spit-roast, no one on PReP?
I'm disappointed by the abrupt ending. I mean, everything was wrapped up, but still felt incomplete. The book is sweet and entertaining, kinda fluffy. But, I'm not complaining. There's a lot of steam, and it's low angst. I think it's rare to find a person who'd be fine with dating an adult film model, so Rex really is a unicorn. Perry may be a porn actor, but he seems to have an atypical porn star personality. Feel free to disagree. The subplot with Rex's younger brother Nigel is more interesting at times. I enjoyed reading this and recommend it.

This is the fourth book in this wonderful series centered around Lukas’ business. Rex & Perry start out as fake boyfriends, always a fun trope to read. Despite a bit of an age gap, there was instant chemistry and I don’t think it ever felt like fake dating to either man. Rex was completely accepting and understanding about Perry’s work in the industry, making him Perry’s ideal partner. Their internal voices were entertaining to read, and I enjoyed every step of their HEA journey. Highly recommended!

When I start a book by E.M. Denning, I actually know right from the start that she isn't going to disappoint me. I know I'm setting the bar high for her by doing so, but with all the books I've read by her, she hasn't disappointed me in this regard yet.
And with this book, too, she proves once again what a great writer she is.
Both Perry and Rex are wonderful characters with a sense of humor, and the way they respected each other and how their love developed makes this a very good book.

Rex and Perry are adorable together. Fade Out shows us what can happen when fake dating is done right. Getting to know your fake boyfriend can lead to real feelings and the flow of this story works so well, with just the right amount of overlap between the two POVs.
You’d think the spice would be hot and heavy as one of the MCs is a porn star but it’s not, Rex gives Perry what he needs and doesn’t get from his work. The animals in this story are just an added bonus, although I intrigued to meet another cat like Gumball.
