This is NOT a book that you should use to learn about loom knitting. It is exactly what it says it is, a pattern book. So that's fine, while I might have approached it thinking the wrong things, it does what it says it will do. It is not a funky, out of date version of a pattern book, which you will often see when getting books from the library as I did for this. And yet, I saw very few patterns in the book that appealed to me. There were a lot of ugly things and a number of impractical projects for which you'd be better off picking up crochet or knitting. It's selling an approach that you'll only want to take if you definitely can't or won't take up one of the others. I personally like the idea of loom knitting for those projects where it might be faster or better than other approaches.

Despite the title, these patterns are typically not written FOR the knitting loom at all - they are conversion of needle knitting patterns, which are poorly done at best. Explanations are incomplete, terms are not consistent with what the loom-knitting community use at large. Many patterns are hard to follow because of being so poorly written.

This book is just as nice as Isela's first book, Loom Knitting Primer. I own that one and plan on buying this one as well. Her instructions are very clear and easy to understand. The only problem for me is that a majority of the patterns call for the use of a Decor Accents loom. As far as I can tell, they don't sell those here in the U.S. However, I can purchase one online, but they do seem a bit pricey.

Plenty of patterns, however most of it is baby and children patterns. I would have preferred to see less of that, as there are plenty of crafting books dedicated solely to babies and young children.

It is actually 38 projects but still awesome as all of Isela Phelps are.
