Never Not Yours

Rate this book
First loves aren’t meant to last forever. At least, that’s what I kept telling myself when Ethan walked out of my life.

I built a life without him, not by choice, not at first, anyway. But since then, I’ve done everything in my power to move on. From Tacoon. From the old me. From the memories that tied us together. From him.

And yet, seeing him again has awakened something in me I thought was long gone—and oh, that’s dangerous. Because he’s still the only one who’s ever felt like home. Even now. Even when it shouldn’t.

And that’s the cruelest part.

Some loves never leave us. No matter how much time passes. No matter how much it hurts. Even when you know you can’t hold onto them.

Once again we have a ‘romance’ novel that caters to the hero and the heroine just gets left with the scraps of whatever he has left to give after choosing someone else over her.

Because seriously? If he’s going to cheat WITH you, then he’s going to cheat ON you.

Never Not Yours by K.V. Thorn is about two people who were each other's first love and we get to see them reconnect years later. The whole book is about that pull of nostalgia you get in your heart when you come in contact with your first love again, a lot of bad timing, and how hard it can be to let go of someone who still has a hold on you.

Oh my goodness this book pulled me in and refuuuused to let go! I was glued to the pages. I was fully invested. I needed to know what was going to happen next asap. While the subject matter revolves heavily around infidelity (which made me personally conflicted at times!!!), the emotions, yearning and nostalgia were sooo addicting. Olivia felt relatable and human in her flaws and I really just wanted to protect her even when she made choices I didn't agree with. The sibling bonds in this book were a highlight for me (I'm a sucker for family related things!) and the pacing was perfect! Thorn really kept things moving with constant tension and very high spice! The whole time I was reading, I kept thinking that I would LOVE this as a movie! This story was messy and seriously so gripping but if you're someone who might be sensitive to the infidelity topic, maybe look a little more into it before picking this up. If you want something that feels really bold, emotional and very hard to put down, this definitely delivers!

Thank you to the author, K.V. Thorn, for the ARC!!!

This one was so many things. I felt the love between Ethan and Olivia HEAVY, and while they had their own things going on, their love never faltered, even if they were questioning it. That much was obvious to me. It was heartbreaking too, but I really enjoyed it so much.

Never Not Yours - the title says it all! Get ready for an emotional journey. I was hooked from the moment Olivia received that devastating breakup call from Ethan. This story is rich, complex, and had me stopping to absorb every detail. Expect heartbreak, loss, infidelity, and love. I'm still thinking about the characters and plot long after finishing. There's nothing quite like a book that lingers.

4.75/5 ⭐️

Honestly where to begin. This book had me hooked a few chapters in. I felt like I was watching a car crash in the best and worst way lol. K. V. Thorn did an amazing job capturing so many different emotions in a wild and messy love story. It truly felt like you were reading about a real relationship of two long lost loves. Some parts were slightly predictable which had me rooting for the main characters and being frustrated with them at the same time. I think that lends to good story telling on the author’s part. While I personally may not agree with the last scene I get it, he’s the love of your life and I feel like it truly captures how they always loved each other.

4.5/5 ⭐️’s

“ You are mine. You always have been. And I’m not losing you again. I loved you yesterday, I love you today, I’ll love you tomorrow and every day after that.”

“I could have burned my whole life down, started over, and I’d still never stop loving you.”

I truly enjoyed all of the complex parts and constant requited love you read on every page and can wholeheartedly feel between Olivia and Ethan throughout the entirety of this book. It’s messy, but it’s strong and full of emotional damage to say the least. Each page keeps pulling you in and wanting more, NEEDING more of THEM as they navigate their unresolved love/feelings for one another, their marriages, and their grief in loss of Ethan’s mother, but also their heartbreak of one another in a few different stages of their lives over the years until the end, which you’ll just have to read yourself in the epilogue! It’s a whirlwind of emotions and actions. I was hooked immediately!

I may not have fully agreed with some of Olivia and Ethan’s choices they made while still being married to other people, but the thing is….as humans, we are all complicated and chaotic and full of bad, but also good decisions all because we just want to love and be loved and to be with the one our heart has always belonged to and desired. You get that with the main characters of this book which is why I understand everything they felt and everything they chose to do.

Thank you author K. V. Thorn for the advanced readers copy!
I recommend this book to those who love a good epic love story packed with heartbreak, truths, messy bits, more heartbreak, self reflections and the best spicy scenes that have you blushing!

Thank you Author K.V. Thorn for the opportunity to read Never Not Yours early!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (will recommend to anyone after checking triggers as it might not be for everyone)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I found myself very into Never Not Yours it had a nice balance of plot, spice, and emotions. And in a way as well I found myself relating to the story. As someone who has given ultimatums in relationships before I found myself relating to Olivia in that way.

Ethan and Olivia find themselves 16 years post breakup reunited in their home town after the death of Ethan’s mom. After finally moving on and each starting a family (because what else is one to do after 16 years and having your heart broken by someone you love) both Olivia and Ethan have to come to terms with what love is, as well as how humanity is chaotic, messy and forgiving all at the same time.

Though I may not fully agree with some of Olivia and Ethan's choices they made in this story, they both really personified how we are all humans, and though there is good there is also bad: we are complicated, we just want to love, and be loved as we navigate life. You get that with the main characters of this book which is why I understand everything they felt and everything they chose to do.

Thank you so much to K.V. Thorn for the ARC for my honest review!

I throughly loved this book. So much of it was messy, and complicated, and in the end human. You can feel the heartbreak from Olivia and Ethan as much as I can feel my own. I did love the fact that you could see that healing and grief are not linear it is in fact a wiggly worm that is constantly evolving and I think the Thorn did that exceptionally.

As for the romance part of this, the spice was just right for the emotional mess these characters were. It was hot and also forbidden at the same time and the fact that they knew each other and still loved each other after 20 years to me makes it that much better. I might be in the camp that while they didn’t end up together at the end of the book (they did end up together in the bonus epilogue) this was an ending that needed to happen the way it did. It makes the story that much more impactful and real to the human experience.

I think needless to say I am excited to how Thorn evolves as an author, and I am truly thankful that I get to go on this journey with them, because hear me out… I will be looking forward to the next book.

ARC review of Never Not Yours by K.V. Thorn
Release date: 14 January 2026

TW: strong elements of infidelity and grief

Tropes:
Second chance
Found family
Young love; it’s always been you
Small town
Road trip
One bed
Spice 🌶️

I didn’t agree with the infidelity aspect but it was easy and quick to read so that kept me til the end. However, I can see what the author was trying to show through the themes/tropes, though I’m afraid it didn’t land quite right.

The story felt slightly choppy at times (I wish some events were elaborated a little bit more) but it didn’t feel like I was lost. I also wish there could be a bit more depth to the characters - at times they felt like they were ‘grown’ and have built their lives but then also felt like they were still college teens. I’ll note that the spice is spicy 🌶️😉

The writing was very easy to follow which is always a bonus. Overall, the book was a quick read - my not-so-great might be your great <3

Thank you so much to the author, K.V Thorn, for gifting me this eARC. All opinions in this review are my own.

When KV Thorn says, “With my debut romance novel, I wanted to capture love in all its forms: joy, heartbreak, grief, betrayal, and everything in between,” KV Thorn really delivers the promise.

KV Thorn takes us on the journey of the FMC & MMC as they navigate their feelings, choices, and the consequences of their actions on each other over many years. I didn’t always agree with the characters and the complexity surrounding them, but somehow understood them. KV Thorn captures how love can be both comforting and damaging, often at the same time. It's messy, emotional, and painfully human. The writing really pulls you into all sorts of feelings. I finished this book in awe and a little undone.

Im thankful for this ARC opportunity.

This was really the first book of this type (contemporary romance) that I’ve read, and honestly I was surprised by how quickly I finished it. I read it at breakneck speed in a few hours. This book moves quickly, while also exploring some heavy topics around love, relationships, and the one that got away. She perfectly captures all the emotions that those situations drag up. Even my watch picked up on my heart rate increase/stress level and told me I needed to decompress before sleep!

It could benefit from another read through before final publication.

Check the triggers in the beginning of the book.

Thank you to the author for this eARC.

Thank you so much to the author for a arc of this one.

I couldnt put it down. So many emotions. I wanted to laugh, cry, scream at both the MMC & the FMC and I never saw the ending coming. I wanted to predict it then I started thinking I was wrong. I wasnt sure until the very end what was going to happen and I loved that!!

This one has a little spice (🌶 maybe 🌶🌶 in my opinion). Be sure to check any trigger warnings before reading. But I highly recommend this one. If you want a great second chance romance full of emotion this is the one.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately, I ended up not finishing the book - not due to the writing itself, but because it included a central trope I wasn’t aware of beforehand and that personally doesn’t work for me.
I think readers who enjoy that type of storyline will likely have a very different experience, so this is more about personal taste than about the quality of the book.
I appreciate the opportunity to read it early and I’m sure it will find its audience.

ARC review: This contemporary romance is a little out of my norm for reads but I enjoyed it all the same. The heart felt love that the characters showed while also dealing with difficult situations was very relatable and heart warming. There was some plot twists that I was not a huge fan of but it added good depth to the storyline. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a heartwarming romance book.

Oh my… I have absolutely no words for this.
I was in it for the emotions, I didn’t really care for the spice, but it was perfect!
Not going to lie, this was literally a heart crushing mental moment especially at the beginning.
Yes, 16 years later they meet again, choices were made, but the spark was always there for them.
We are just humans, it’s complicated.
This was definitely a book that tugged my heart and hit many places for me personally.
