I’m thirty-six, newly divorced, and forced back into a law career I left to raise my kids. Starting over sucks.
Because nothing ever goes simply for me, I am forced to travel on the other side of the mountains for a deposition. And of course, on my way home, my car breaks down and my phone has no service. I walk and walk, and find the only building in sight. Its dark, loud, and my only option.
I walk inside… and instantly realize I’ve stepped into a world I don’t belong in.
I try to leave, but apparently you can’t just walk in a leave after you see everything.
And at the center of it is a man who is the opposite of everything I know.
Nothing about my life is simple.
Nothing is what it looks like.
I’m getting older. Forty-eight. President of Hell’s Fire. My life is built on control, loyalty, and keeping outsiders at a distance.
Then Tessa walks in—classy, lost, and clearly unaware of where she’s wandered.
She sees more than she should.
But she also sees me in a way nobody else does.
And she’s wrong about the kind of man she thinks I am.
I received this book as an ARC and it is the first book I have read from this author. This is Tessa and Daggars story and honestly I really enjoyed it. it was a fast paced story but I don't feel like there were any holes or gaps in the plot. I also didn't find any grammatical errors which definitely made me happy as usually in books I read I find one or two misspelled words at the minimum, here none. please go check it out, I'm sure you will like it too....now I am just hoping some of the secondary characters get their stories too...lol
This was my first ever MC experience and it wasn’t a bad place to start at all! Highly recommend if you haven’t read an MC book before and want to dip your toes in. It’s not too heavy or too complicated to follow by any means. It’s a fast paced story but not an instant love, insta attraction? Yes.
Tessa is a fiery, sassy, sarcastic fmc that isn’t afraid to talk back and put you in check. She’s going through a nasty divorce and torn between her children not really wanting to be with their father and feeling like he can provided more for them than she can.
Tessa finds herself with a broken down car and in the middle of a motorcycle club and her whole world is about to change because she meets Dagger!
Dagger is the president of the motorcycle club. He doesn’t do love at all. The rules are simple and plain and he doesn’t cross them! But there’s just something he can’t resist about Tessa. But in the midst of these feelings developing quickly he is severed a warrant to search his club and luckily for him he’s got Tessa in his corner a lawyer you don’t want to cross! She begins to dig into the case.
There’s a mole/rat somewhere. Who is it though? You’ve gotta read to find out!
I also appreciate that the fmc and mmc aren’t young. They are older and it’s not an instant love it’s a build up. Again, insta attraction? Yes, but dang it’d be a year for Tessa! Give her a break 😂
This story will deliver on sprinkling throughout humor, spice and delivering on that motorcycle club vibe but not making it too dark it’s very light in my opinion. Even though this was supposed to be a standalone, we know Alexandra doesn’t write those because we always want more and I look forward to the next one in the series!
Short, sweet, and swoony, this novella had me hooked from page one. Tessa’s journey as a recently divorced mom juggling co-parenting and an unexpected romance with Dagger makes for a fun ride. Dagger, the president of a motorcycle club, is a man who doesn’t do love—tough on the outside but soft and territorial on the inside. Yes, it’s insta-lust, which I’m not a fan of, but I overlooked it since this is a novella.
The story balances romance, emotional growth, and humor well—Tessa’s love for her kids really shines through, making her choices feel real. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed it, though I definitely wanted more about the motorcycle club and the Mary Jay 🪴 business—some extra action would’ve taken it up a notch. Overall, a quick, fun read with plenty of spice. 🔥.
First quit sleeping on Alexandra Shaw’s books, everything she writes is gold! You will not regret it. This book is phenomenal, there’s motorcycle club with a president who doesn’t want to be tied down, there’s a woman who proves him wrong. Dagger and Tessa are damn hot. The book has hilarious parts, serious parts, and some really sweet moments. There’s also club business in there and the twists kept on coming.
She has kids, a crappy ex husband AND a realistic body that had given birth and didn’t bounce back all the way! I cheered at this! If you are 30s and up, this book is absolutely for you! Heck if you been cheated on and found a person who loves you unconditionally this is for you!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Tessa’s car breaks down and she finds herself walking into this motorcycle club looking for a phone to call for help. What does she find instead?! Dagger, the president of the motorcycle club who doesn’t do love. But something about Tessa makes him rethink his choices. Alexandra Shaw most certainly did it again!
Devoured this book in less than a day! Such a good short story and a great way to get into motorcycle club books! Definitely recommend this spicy book where both characters fall hard and fast for each other!
An amazing novella that I just could not put down. Absolutely love that the FMC and MMC are mature adults and have life experiences and when they come together….. it’s HOT! Both characters fall hard and fast and holy spice! Grab your copy NOW. You won’t regret it.
Tessa is a lawyer who has been hurt and recently divorced. Dagger is a club president who is not a one woman man, that is until he meets Tessa. Tessa and Dagger meet by chance due to her not being responsible with car maintenance. Tessa's ex-husband tries to get her back once he realizes the woman he was cheating with was not all she said she was and left. Will two people from two different worlds make it work? Find out you won't regret it. Highly recommend reading The Long Road.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Alexandra did it again, if you haven’t read any of her books you are missing go grab this one when it’s released but grab a few of her others while you are waiting! This was another one of her “I couldn’t put it down” reads. Tessa, the MFC, is a 37-year-old recently divorced mom of two kids. She’s not only navigating her newly single parenting life but being a new lawyer and trying to make a name for herself as well. Dagger, the MMC, is a 48-year-old, MC president of Hell’s Fire, who doesn’t do relationships and is navigating expanding their fairly new legit club business ventures. Tessa is 4 hours away from home when car breaks down on a deserted highway with no cell service. Walking is the only option bringing her to a hotel looking building with a leather vest wearing man is sitting in a parking booth. Little does she know what she is stepping through the doors to when he allows her to pass through to use the landline. Dagger… who is currently occupied looks up into the darkest green eyes that seemed to pop out of her head. Caught unaware by a stranger in the building, he is furious, this in turn scares Tessa causing her to injure herself, which sets off their roller coaster of a romance that has some twists and turns and even a flip or two! He quickly sees another side of her when the cops show up with a warrant. This story is full of emotions, from anger to laughing, drama and intrigue. Follow along with these two as they navigate learning to trust again, learning what a healthy or even a relationship is along with making decisions that affect not only them but those they love.
The Long Road By Alexandra Shaw ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Hells Fire MC
I hate to admit it… but this was my first read by Alexandra Shaw. I am now going to devour ALL of her books. Tessa 36, A lawyer and recently divorced mother of 2, driving to a client for a deposition in the boonies and her car breaks down. She realizes there is no cell service so she hoofs it to a nearby place. She Ends up walking to what used to be an old hotel with a biker out front. She should not have gone inside to find a phone lol. In comes Dagger (Becket Wallace) President of the MC to her life. His brothers are throwing him a 48th birthday party till Tessa walks in. The MC builds custom bikes and legal weed shops. The fact he keeps throwing her over his shoulder is utterly fantastic. Ahh he pulls out the baby girl gets me every time. The banter between these two is unparalleled and so amazing once he meets the kids. This is totally a 5 star read. Twin sister Gretchen. Ohhh I NEED her book ASAP! Thank you Alexandra Shaw for this amazing book. I laughed, I cried I fell in love with these characters. Can’t wait to read more.
Trigger Warnings This book contains mature, dark themes and may include content that could be triggering for some readers. Please read responsibly. If you would like to know some specific triggers, please go to the back of the book for the list.
I had the pleasure of receiving this as an e-ARC and voluntarily will be giving my honest review!! OMG!! Absolutely loved the chemistry between Tessa and Dagger!! Love his aggressiveness with her!! Your Mine!! She is a lawyer and he is a MC president and has many businesses. I fall in love with them!! If you love a MC MMC and a strong FMC you will this book!! It was an easy read novella!!
“Tessa:

Dagger:

Nothing is what it looks like.
I’m getting older. Forty-eight. President of Hell’s Fire. My life is built on control, loyalty, and keeping outsiders at a distance.

And she’s wrong about the kind of man she thinks I am.
What happens when a civil attorney runs into a motorcycle club president on his birthday? Sparks fly—and nothing is ever the same.
Sent out of town for a deposition, Tessa McIntyre never expects to meet Becket “Dagger” Wallace, the single, morally gray president of the Hell’s Fire MC. They have nothing in common—except an instant, explosive attraction neither planned to pursue.
Dagger swears the club went legit years ago, but when the authorities show up with a search warrant, secrets and danger resurface. As past baggage, outside threats, and undeniable chemistry collide, both must decide if a future together is even possible.
The Long Road by Alexandra Shaw is a fast-paced, spicy, middle-aged second-chance MC romance with sharp banter, strong characters, and a fiercely protective MMC who will destroy anyone who threatens the FMC.
⚠️ Trigger warnings apply: sex, substances, and violence.
Please note: this book contains trigger warnings, so be sure you’re comfortable with the content before diving in.
I absolutely loved the darker romance vibes in The Long Road. This story felt like Sons of Anarchy meets Legally Blonde in the best way. Watching the FMC bring out the unexpected cinnamon-roll side of a motorcycle club president was incredibly satisfying.
The FMC was a standout for me — a strong, capable lawyer who didn’t take any crap from anyone. I also really appreciated that the main characters were older and more established. A divorced FMC with kids felt refreshingly real and deeply relatable, especially for women at this stage of life.
This book delivered grit, heart, and chemistry in equal measure, and I was hooked from start to finish. A fantastic read for anyone who loves dark romance with strong characters and emotional depth.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Holy hotness!! The way Dagger and Tessa defend and stand by each other through it all was such a turn-on. They way Alexandra Shaw took two people who were completely opposite of each other and messed them together. Without either of them having to change who they are. Was pure perfection. Tessa, a lawyer, may have come across as someone timid, but don't let that fool you because she can definitely hold her own. Dagger is the president of Hell's Fire MC. Ruff, dirty talker, eye candy of a man. OK, I know this story has been told time and time again. But I guarantee not like this. Hopefully, we will get a book for Gretchen and Bradley. That story could really be off the charts hotttt!
This is the first book ive read from Alexandra and it will not be the last!
It was crazy how relatable Tessa and Dagger were. This was a good change of pace when most other books the co-parenting is amazing or they just aren't in the picture at all. She showed how real life is when your ex is a lousy parent and is selfish as hell.
Tessa found a love neither she or Dagger expected and it was well paced, had a betrayal, spice and laugh out loud moments.
If you like a possessive, swoon worthy, (but let's admit he's a man and messes up) MMC and a strong FMC that just needs someone to put the effort in for her to help her find herself this is it! Definitely a must read if you want a quick one sitting MC romance!
I received an ARC copy of this book and my review is 100% honest!
✨️ARC Review ✨️ The perfect example of opposites attract. When attorney Tessa McIntyre finds herself unknowingly walking into the Hell's Fire Motorcycle Club, she never imagined falling for the President of the club, Dagger.
This Motorcycle Club novella was a fun, quick, read. Even though this book is on the shorter side, there weren't major gaps in their story and everything flowed really well!
Fireworks hit early between these two, but their story had its challenges. Two worlds that shouldn't make sense together, seem to melt together perfectly!
I definitely recommend this novella if you're looking for a fun, quick read that ties everything together really well!
Tessa is recently divorced trying to get home and suddenly her car breaks down. She walks for awhile till she finally comes across the only building for miles. She asks if there is a phone she can use due to her's having no service. When she walks in she definitely didn't expect to see what was happening. That's when she meets Dagger. He asks what she is doing there and how she got past the guard? All she wanted was a phone to use to call for help with her car. Dagger is president of a biker club and doesn't do love. They get together and eventually they start a serious relationship and Dagger doesn't know how these feeling are happening to him.
The spice is amazing well detailed. Read trigger warnings if you have any. I can't wait for the next book to continue their relationship. Thank you Alexandra Shaw for trusting me with your book.
Five 🌟🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️spice I received this book as an ARC reading. This is my first time reading a book by this author! And boy I wasn’t disappointed! This is an awesome read. I throughly enjoyed reading Tessa and Dagger’s story. It’s fast paced the story but you won’t be disappointed trust me! You get involved in the characters story and the feelings and emotions. Absolutely one of my favorite reads . Looking forward to reading more books by this author
Another motorcycle club for the win! This one is pretty fast paced, packs some punches and teaches Tessa what it’s like to really be wanted unlike her cheating ex husband. Dagger is a hard bad a** but once you get past that hard exterior he is definitely book boyfriend material! I could t get enough of Tessa and Daggers story, if you have read an MC book I highly recommend dipping your toes in with this one!
Oh I love a good MC Romance. Alexandra you did it for us moms! We can be seen as sexy!! And daddy Dagger, you are added to my book boyfriends!! The way he dominates Tessa in all the right ways. His mouth.... had me melting. This was a fantastic novella, I read it in one sitting. Start to finish. Chefs kiss!!!
As the second book of the Hell's fire series, Dagger sweeps you off your feet from the get go with his authoritative tone and manly ways. the way the two characters clash but blend together so smoothly keeps you begging to find out what they will get you to next. highly recommend you read Claiming Adelaide first but this one was a great second book.
Tessa is on her way to a client. But then her car stops working. With no cellphone reception. She starts walking, to find a phone. When she thinks, she finds a place to make the phone call. She meets Dagger. The men with the beautiful eyes. If you like dominant biker men. A little bit of spice? This is the book for you.
I got this as a ARC and it was so good. Tessa and Dagger needed each other, I love how the club and her friends was also through the book really brought the story to life. Very good read, I cant wait to read more of their story or more of the Characters in the stories story *Bradley &Grethen* Tessa really needed Dagger to center her and vice versa. Recommend for everyone to read.
Wow! This novella didn’t lack in anything!! This was such a great read! Just like every book I have read from Alexandra Shaw this one was no different! Tessa was a great FMC and Dagger was a great MMC! I was here for all of it! Anytime I have a hard time picking up a book I just start a book of Alex’s because I know I will be hooked by the end of the first page!
I received this as an ARC! It sucked me in from the beginning and I read it in about 4 days. The last few chapters had me really into it and I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. Naturally, I regretted it at work the next morning but I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good MC romance!
I had the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. I was super excited to start it and then felt like it just wasn’t keeping my attention. There were parts that felt like the story was all over the place and I had a hard time figuring out who was who and how they were involved.
finished in two evenings, very spicy and edge of your seat drama. and who doesn't love a second chance, sons of anarchy, entertainment read. Alexandra shaw is becoming a fast favorite author who really shows her depth and range of writing.
