I spent half this book side-eyeing the pacing, only for it to have the AUDACITY to suddenly make me inhale chapters.
Fated mates, dragon devotion, found family supremacy, forced proximity and enough magical family secrets to keep me nosy. They knew exactly what to feed me.
Unfortunately, they served it on a very delayed schedule.
What worked for me
(aka: what fed me)
Found family has a no-return policy
Ever accidentally built herself a family in book 1 and apparently forgot to factor that into the escape plan. By book 2 she's risking exposure to save Karis, wanting her place in the Wing back and feeling personally victimised because the people she abandoned did, unfortunately, remember being abandoned.
I support women's rights but I also support women's consequences.
And the Wing made sure she experienced some. They loved her but they didn't pretend she hadn't hurt them. Somewhere along the way, I realised I was more emotionally invested in Ever finding her way back to the Wing than I was in her finding her way back to her actual fated mate. Oop.
That made Ever begging them to yell, snark, be mad - anything except go quiet - hit so much harder. Turns out she can survive massacres, captivity and magical assassination attempts but loved ones being disappointed in her and refusing to leave? Critical hit.
Thoughts and prayers to Ever during this unprecedented crisis.
Dragon, your devotion is showing
The second Ever and Aeson were finally in the same room, I remembered why I liked them. Banter? Back. Chemistry? Breathing. Aeson quietly looking for opportunities to take care of her? Oh, NOW we're speaking my language.
His whole “I know you can, but you don't have to” approach was exactly my flavour of devotion. He doesn't need Ever helpless to feel useful; he just wants her to stop acting like suffering alone is a personality trait. Whether it's taking some of her pain through the bond or stepping in without ever stepping on her autonomy, his care never comes at the expense of her capability.
And then Ever starts sprouting literal scale armour and this man reacts like his favourite team just scored. “You are a dragon.” Sir was DELIGHTED. No intimidation. No wounded ego. His mate is becoming an increasingly concerning magical creature and he's basically asking where he can purchase season tickets.
Just aggressively proud dragon noises. As nature intended.
The lore kept me nosy
Even when the pacing was testing my patience, the expanding worldbuilding kept me invested. Syphon history, dragon politics, magical bloodlines, Ever's evolving abilities and increasingly suspicious family history kept adding layers to everything I thought I understood.
Once those pieces finally started connecting, I was SEATED. Some of the late reveals completely reframed Ever's past and the history between the Syphons and Horde and by the ending I mentally had red string, pushpins and several questions about everyone's ancestry.
Where it lost me
(aka: my patience left the Scorch first)
Plot progression unavailable in your region
The first 60% had a lot of activity for very little actual progress. Ever ran, Aeson searched, blood trails got scrambled, dunes were crossed. We even got a whole Dune chase that gave me two chapters of action only to deposit everyone back into essentially the same situation.
Everyone was getting their steps in. The plot? Apparently working from home.
Individually, the roadblocks made sense. Collectively, they started to feel like the book was inventing increasingly creative reasons to keep Ever and Aeson in separate postcodes. There are only so many times we can reset to she runs, he searches before tension starts looking suspiciously like stalling. By halfway, I wasn't asking what happens next? I was asking WHEN does next happen?
She ran. He searched. I got it. Please release us.
The mate bond cannot do all the work
Keeping Ever and Aeson apart for that long came with a romantic casualty - the romance. Aeson was yearning across the Scorch at medically concerning levels, so his investment was never the issue. But Ever had approximately 47 other crises happening and I wasn't feeling the same emotional pull from her.
Then they reunited and FINALLY gave the mate bond some supporting evidence.
Forced proximity, caretaking, trust fights, Ever voluntarily reaching for him and choosing to open the bond - I finally got to watch them be a couple instead of two fated mates experiencing each other remotely.
The bond told me they were connected. I needed the relationship on the page to make me FEEL it.
Please collect your seventeen revelations
And then the final quarter chose violence.
Suddenly we're getting magical developments, relationship breakthroughs, political drama, conspiracies and massive revelations about Ever's past. And the deeply irritating part? I liked almost ALL of it. After spending most of the book begging for movement, I was suddenly asking everyone to please form an orderly queue while I processed what just happened.
That's what made the earlier pacing so frustrating. The material was always there; the distribution wasn't. Some of these reveals deserved more room to breathe instead of arriving back-to-back like the book had just realised there was a deadline.
I went from are we there yet? to WAIT, slow down, I have questions.
Final thoughts
For all my pacing complaints, the things that worked REALLY worked: the Wing, Aeson's caretaker devotion, Ever's survival arc and a conspiracy that has me side-eyeing entire bloodlines. Add that cliffhanger and obviously I'm coming back. I have questions and apparently no self-control.
The duet narration remains one of the reasons I'm sold on this series. Amelia Hugh and Vincent Skye already made book 1 for me and having them back gave this sequel an immediate advantage. Hugh continues to make the cast feel distinct while Skye has fully become Aeson in my head. By the time he's roaring Ever's name across the Scorch, I'm no longer hearing a narrator. I'm hearing one extremely distressed dragon prince.
They also did some necessary heavy lifting through the slower stretches. While the plot was apparently working from home, these two were clocked IN.
Duet narration, I will never doubt you.
Final verdict
3.5 ⭐️ - I liked what this book was building toward more than I liked how long it took to get there.
Next time I ask the plot to move, I'm adding “at a consistent speed” to the terms and conditions.

Absolutely wish I could reread this series for the first time every time I read it !!! The twists, turns and reveals are just sooo fun !! This is the kind of enemies to lovers I adore. Like neither of them is soft and I’m never sure if they won’t murder each other or resolve anything. It’s just non stop amazing action and I am here for it !!! If you don’t like cliffhangers and to have your heart ripped out this may not be the fun you are looking for. I can’t get enough of this series and will be anxiously awaiting more !!!
The audiobook was such a treat to get for me after I had read part of it to then get to finish as an immersive read. Omg I love the energy and emotion these narrators bring to this read !!! It was such a pull to be brought into the story through the way they portrayed the action. It was sooo easy to follow along and fall into the story and i was mesmerized as i was listening. I mean you could do this read however you want but immersive was alot of fun for me !!!

Ignite the Infernos was one of my most anticipated releases, so I went into it with very high expectations. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to them, and honestly, it pains me to say that. I genuinely love Ivy Asher as an author and have enjoyed several of her books, but I also want to be honest about my reading experience.
Let me start with what I loved.
The worldbuilding in this series remains one of my favorite things. It’s such a unique and fascinating concept, and I still love the world Ivy has created. I also absolutely adore Ever—especially her humor—and she remains one of my favorite FMCs. I loved the cat-and-mouse dynamic between her and Aeson, and some of the action scenes were fantastic. I also really enjoyed the dual POV and getting to experience the story from both of their perspectives.
Unfortunately, my biggest issue was that the story didn’t feel like it progressed enough.
This book didn’t quite manage to stand on its own as a second installment. Instead, it often felt like an extension of the first book. I was hoping it would build upon what had already been established, answer some of the questions left from book one, and take us deeper into the plot, world, and stakes. Instead, many questions remained unanswered while new ones were introduced.
By the end, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we were almost in the same place we were at the end of the first book. Despite everything that happened, I didn’t feel like the main story had moved forward in a meaningful way.
I also wanted more depth from both Ever and Aeson. I would have loved a deeper exploration of Ever’s trauma—especially seeing her confront it, work through it, and ultimately overcome it. There was so much potential there, but I felt like it wasn’t fully explored.
With Aeson, I really wanted to see more layers to his character. The dual POV was a great opportunity for this, but I still felt that most of his personality revolved around being possessive, obsessive, and completely fixated on Ever. There were attempts to show different sides of him, but they didn’t fully pay off for me.
I loved their chemistry and the tension between them, but I was still craving a deeper emotional connection. Their attraction is undeniable, but I wanted their relationship to feel like it was evolving beyond that.
The pacing was another issue. The first half felt slow and inconsistent, with a few chapters pulling me in before the story slowed down again. Then, once the action picked up in the second half, everything felt rushed. So many things happened in such a short amount of time that I didn’t always have enough time to process them or feel their impact.
This was especially disappointing because the pacing was one of the things I loved most about the first book. It kept me completely hooked, and unfortunately, I didn’t have quite the same experience here.
Overall, this book felt like it needed more room to breathe. The characters needed more depth, the relationship needed more emotional development, and the plot needed to move forward in a more substantial way.
And this is why this review is difficult for me. I really like Ivy Asher’s writing, and I know she is capable of creating incredible stories and characters. I think this book had so much potential, but it ultimately felt rushed to me.

The second half of this book really carried. It was action packed and tension filled. However, the entire first half of the book is spent only accomplishing 1 thing, which then led us back to where we were in book 1. I would’ve liked the story to progress more in this book, especially because it’s only a trilogy. I still had a good time, i love the world and the possessive dragons. I liked where the story was going, I just wish we got more of it. The book is less than 400 pages, so I feel like we could’ve added 100 more pages to give some sort of plot movement or even character development. I love Aeson and Ever but boy is their relationship getting repetitive. The drama between them feels drawn out and unnecessary, especially with the cliffhanger i fear book 3 we are going to repeat this cycle again, ugh. I’m so curious how this will be wrapped up in the final book. I’ll definitely still be reading it because this series is a lot of fun!

Literally nothing happened. This was such a filler book. The ending of the 1st book made it seem like we were going to have a really good plot in this one, but the only plot is “I can’t trust you” blah blah blah.
No questions were answered and now there’s even more questions. The ending of this FINALLY connected back to the end plot of book 1, but it’s so pointless now because there’s only supposed to be one more book with a bunch of new stuff introduced.
I’d expect that the second book in a TRILOGY would actually build the plot throughout instead of adding absolutely nothing to the plot until the last 3 chapters. I might not have minded so much if the romance didn’t also piss me off. It’s literally just the same back and forth nonsense with obsession (not the hot kind).

The "I need you to trust me completely - how can I trust you" dynamic got really annoying really quickly... I'm still waiting on some serious character growth - although some definitely happened, everything felt rushed, and overall suffered from the "middle book syndrome". I'm really interested in how the story is going to wrap up in the finale, too bad I read this one on the day it came out!

Ignite the Infernos by Ivy Asher is book two in the Secret of the Syphon trilogy and now I’m someone that describes things as “positively titillating” because that’s exactly what this was — titillating. I’ve been titillated.
Ignite is a cat and mouse urban high fantasy romance that picks up 28 hours after the cliff we face planted off of in Spark. The story unfolds through both Aeson & Ever’s POV, which adds an exciting and emotional depth to the high-stakes tension, battle of wits and offensive/evasive maneuverings. I really love that we get to experience this part of the story through both of their perspectives. There’s so much hurt and vulnerability carefully wrapped under layers of pain and anger. Aeson & Ever have a frustrating head vs heart dynamic and neither is able to feel safe enough to lay all their cards on the table. I never stopped rooting for them, though.
Ignite The Infernos comes out September 8th and has reveals, transformations and shifts that are a theory spiraler’s dream. 2 stars. Ignite the Infernos suffers badly from 2nd book syndrome. Not a whole lot happens, the central relationship is repetitive, and there is way too much unknown information left to handle in what I assume is the third and last book. In comparison to the first book, this one falls really flat, and it feels like the author rushed out an early draft rather than a finished book.
The first ~60% of this book Ever and Aeson are separated. I'm fine with a separation of the central couple if something comes from it, if there's a purpose to it, but that arguably only happens for Ever. With Ever on her own, it allows the reader to meet some of the other Syphons (several names tossed around, you'll really only need to care about like 2-3?) and see their home in the Scourge. But for Aeson, his chapters are a whole lot of nothing during this part of the book. It's just him upset that he can't find her. We barely get any more insight into Enslee, we don't learn anything of value about the other syphons (I couldn't even tell you which ones were Ever's friends), and the wyverns are 'blink and you miss it' - there's one wyvern mentioned who apparently trained them but that's all the info you'll get on him.
Ever and Aeson's relationship - it's nothing but repetition and surface-level attraction, there's no development. She's into him but can't trust him. He's into her but can't communicate it well or trust her. They make out, they get mad at each other, then they're so distraught that the other doesn't trust them (for good reason on both sides). It honestly feels like there's no real foundation for them to care about each other outside of physical attraction and the bond. I liked that the first book just set up the initial stages for them, so I was expecting more groundwork to be done here, but that never really happens. So what we end up with is just melodramatic insta-love (though that word isn't tossed around yet), not a relationship that we believe is worth fighting for.
And then we come to the actual story, which doesn't progress seemingly at all. And nothing, not even crumbs, gets explained when it comes to the overarching conflict. What was phase 2 of Ever's plan? Just a chase through the desert so she can return to the capital? What is her ultimate goal? Put Enslee on the throne? I'm unclear on all of this. And then there's the fae. They and the sorcai are name-dropped as the big bads but the readers know NOTHING about the fae in this world and why they're so scary. So is all that just going to be exposition-dropped in the last book and promptly taken care of? It just seems like not even small details here about motivations or dangers are explained here. With no plot reveals, the "why" of it all is just so vague.
Other complaints:
- Aeson's Wing? They're barely in this. Besides maybe Tove and Karis and Ogden you don't need to know any of them. This is sad as I liked getting to know them in book 1.
- Ever's Wing? I wish we got more of these guys! Give me some fresh faces who are not just background fodder.
- Other characters like Lorn and King Noctis are barely used. They're mentioned here and there but have no real interactions with Ever so get no character development or purpose.
- Aeson doesn't develop more as a character at all, he's very one-dimensional. And Ever just becomes annoying constantly upset that others are mad at her, which they have a right to be

- The cliffhanger really isn't one... I mean we knew they'd meet eventually.

3 stars. I like this author's books, so I will always read them, but this felt a lot like filler. It wasn't bad, but there also wasn't really enough substance for a whole book. The first half was fun, but then the second half just felt a lot like book 1.
I have high hopes for book 3, now that the players are aligned. Though, it does feel like the plot is now too big for just one more book. I just don't understand why this book was so thin on plot- book 2 doesn't really serve a purpose, and now book 3 will be bloated with unraveling the plot lines.

This book felt a bit like a filler book. That being said I still enjoyed it. Fast paced dragon romantasy with spice set in a futuristic world with high tech.
Ever is still that fiery witty FMC I loved in book 1 and yet she has a lot of trauma she is slowly starting to work through in this second book. Aeson is as stubborn as ever he just wants Ever to let him in and strengthen their fragile mate bond but he in a way makes Ever feel as though he’s automatically entitled to her opening up to him just because of the bond and I think that’s why there’s so much pushback between the two. Hopefully in book 3 they get it figured out I can’t wait to see how this story concludes.

Gosh, I’m just not lucky in reading the past few weeks! This book was my MOST anticipated read! I LOVED its predecessor, “Spark the Flames”. In fact, it is probably my favorite book so far this year. So it was with intense sadness that I realized this sequel just doesn’t rise to the first. In fact, it takes most of the tropes from STF and just rinses and repeats. The plot doesn’t move forward AT ALL! GAH!!!!!
The story begins right where STF left off - with Ever running for her life and the Horde and Aeson searching desperately to find her. Because, apparently unknown to her, what she did at the end of the first book is completely destroying their world in the second. The two sides are riveting reading for sure. Ever (FMC) is completely dedicated to helping those she loves while she stays hidden and Aeson (MMC) is desperately working to save those he is responsible for - all while dealing with the mate bond they both cannot resist. The problems with the pacing are felt even in this first half of the story, though. SO much page time is spent with her running and him chasing her (yet never just sitting down and having an honest conversation) that once she is caught, the reader breathes a sigh of relief anticipating the plot will really get interesting. Nope. They just go round and round and round but never go forward - in both plot and relationship. By the end of the book we are sitting exactly in the same place we were at the end of the first book, just different circumstances.
Man, was I disappointed. The world and characters are all so stinking interesting with so much potential. But, this second book just stalled out. Now the last and final book in the trilogy has a HUGE responsibility on its poor shoulders. It must unravel all the threads, grow a relationship into a beautiful and satisfying love story, lead all the characters to a conclusion that is acceptable, all while keeping the reader interested, involved and enjoying what (because nothing was accomplished in this book) must now be a huge tangle to unravel and an HEA to achieve. We’ll see.

Ignite the Infernos was one of my most anticipated reads of the year. After being pleasantly surprised by Spark the Flames, I couldn't wait to return to this world and see where the story would go next. Unfortunately, Ignite the Infernos was disappointing to say the least.
The biggest issue is that very little actually happens for most of the novel. The plot doesn't begin to progress until around the 60% mark, making the majority of the book feel like filler rather than a necessary continuation of the story. I've rarely encountered a sequel that suffers from second book syndrome as heavily as Ignite the Infernos.
Since Ever and Aeson spend much of the novel apart, I expected that separation to create opportunities for character development elsewhere. I was hoping to see more growth from Enslee and the supporting cast, but those opportunities never materialized. Instead, the story feels stagnant, with neither the plot nor the characters advancing in a significant way.
Ever and Aeson's relationship was another frustration. While they have moments of genuine chemistry, their dynamic feels repetitive throughout the book. Much of their relationship continues to revolve around the bond between them and their base physical attraction to each other. Unfortunately, the story never really explores their connection in meaningful new ways.
Overall, Ignite the Infernos felt like a bridge book whose primary purpose was to get readers from one installment to the next. With minimal plot progression, repetitive character dynamics, and little development for the wider cast, this sequel failed to deliver on the promise of its predecessor. I will not be continuing with the series.

Thank you so much to Ivy Asher and the publisher for the opportunity to read Ignite the Infernos early as an ARC! I was SO excited to hop back into this world after reading Ignite the Flames almost a year ago, and Ignite the Infernos definitely reminded me why I was so invested in Ever and this whole chaotic crew!
I was especially excited to see Aeson track Ever down after she fled at the end of the first book because I needed answers just as badly as he did. I loved watching these two constantly try to fight the bond while simultaneously trying to outsmart each other. Their chemistry was hot and spicy as ever (pun absolutely intended), and every time they were together, the tension was ON.
Meanwhile, Ever and her group hiding out in The Scorch and coming up with increasingly ridiculous booby traps and schemes to keep the Horde from catching up to them had me laughing multiple times. I loved getting to see more of the group dynamic and the lengths they were willing to go to protect each other.
My biggest critique was the pacing. For me, it felt like the plot didn’t make a ton of progress until the last 5% of the book. A lot of the story centered around the chase, and while I enjoyed that cat-and-mouse dynamic, I really wish we had gotten more progression with Ever and Aeson’s relationship and their bond along the way.

I love the characters and the world so much…but a lot of this book felt like a repeat of book 1. It didn’t feel like there was much movement on the actual plot until the very end, and their reactions during the final scene confused me. Overall, I still had a good time, and it was an easy read.

Ignite the Infernos is a solid sequel to Spark the Flames, with dragon shifters, betrayal, and a cat and mouse chase.
While I did enjoy this one, it was a bit of a filler book. But it did its job to set up book 3/the finale and gave us some great world building! I liked learning more about the dragons and the magic system and the complicated political situation our crew now finds themselves in.
The romance was such a whiplash the entire book- will they won’t they?? The enemies to lovers…and BACK to enemies after the betrayal in book 1, worked well and I liked the level of yearning and passion it brought to the romance. Aeson and his dragon form is HOT. 🥵
I do want to see more character growth and plot developments in the next book though, I feel like we are in a similar place(plot wise) at the end of this one as we were in book 1 🙃 I did love the “fuck the patriarchy” moment at the end and I think it’s gonna set us up for a huge book 3 plot!
Looking forward to the finale of this series, I’m totally invested in Ever and Aeson’s story and what’s gonna happen now the power dynamic has shifted 👀

unfortunately, this book hugely suffered from second book syndrome for me 😭 i loved how fast paced book one was, but this installment just felt like not much happened or furthered the plot of the series.

I was so excited to read Ignite The Infernos, and it was genuinely thrilling to be back in this world! Ivy Asher has created a cast of characters that are easy to become attached to, and that found-family feeling is still one of my favourite parts of this series.
Ever and Aeson still have plenty of their trademark banter and bickering, and there were definitely moments between them that I enjoyed. I did find myself wishing for a little more character progression and development from them in this instalment, though.
For me, the pacing was probably the one thing that kept this from being a complete five-star read. There was quite a lot of time spent on searching, hiding, chasing and trying to uncover what was going on, and at times I found myself wanting the story to move forward a little more quickly. I think I was especially aware of this because I was so excited to see where the story would go, and I found myself craving a little more plot development and character growth.
That said, I still really enjoyed being back in this world. There are plenty of moments that reminded me why I love Ivy’s books in the first place, and the characters, humor, relationships and world-building continue to keep me invested.
I think my expectations were simply very high going into this one, which may have made me a little harder to impress! 😂 But despite that, I’m still completely invested in this dragon world and these characters, and I’ll absolutely be picking up what comes next. 🐉❤️ Can’t wait to read what happens!

First, let me say that I absolutely love this series. I just don't understand why I don't see it all over BookTok and Bookstagram more than I do. It's just so good.

Now, I don't think it was as good as the first book, but I believe that's mainly because this is the bridge book between 1 and 3 . So let's get into what I loved and what I didn't.
I absolutely loved that the hilarious banter continued, not just between Aeson and Ever, but with the whole Wing. They just have such a fun dynamic, even in serious times. I think this is some of the best found family I've ever read. I also loved that we get to learn more about the Syphons and Ever's sister, Enslee.
But this wasn't a perfect book. I thought we were going to get answers to things that we don't. So I feel like book 3 is going to be heavy to get those answers. Also, I wanted to shake Aeson and Ever both for being immature babies throughout. Yes, trust has to be built, but my goodness, these two really lock in on their stubbornness.
SLIGHT SPOILER: This book was quite a bit shorter than the last one. I feel like it took waaaaaaaaay too long to reunite Ever and Aeson for a book this length. All opinions are my own…and do you want to KNOW what my opinion is?!?!? THIS WAS FU*KING INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! OH MY DRAGONS!!!!!!!! Ever was witty and funny and just an incredible bad a** just like in the first one!!! Arson WAS DADDY AESON IN THIS ONE OMG!!!!!!!! Him trying to hunt down Ever was giving me ALL OF THE FEELS!!!!!!!
I truly truly love Ever as our FMC she is witty and funny and smart as HELLLLLLLLLLL. The way she gives Aeson a run for his money was just pure genius!!!! There was one thing after another after another I truly never saw all of them coming!!!! We get to see her open up a bit and be truly vulnerable in this one and watch her character grow a little more softer towards people in this one I loved it!!!
Aeson was HOTTTTTTTT AS DRAGON FIRE IN THIS BOOK!!!!! OH MY GODSSSSSS being able to see him in over drive and listen to his thoughts while he was tracking down Ever was EVERYTHINGGGGGGG!!!!!! The spice WAS VERY NICEEEEEEE LET ME TELL YOUUUUUUUU!!!!! You know what Ivy did in the first one well OH BOYYYYYY was it just as good this time around!!!!! I absolutely love seeing the chemistry and the TENSION OH BESTIES THE TENSION WAS EVERYTHING!!!!!! The back and forth and the yearning secretly had MY HEART pounding as well!!!! And that Cave scene was absolutely GENIUS!!!! Ever is literally an evil genius I swear!!!! I stayed up way too late trying to finish this one because I literally couldn’t put it down. I rolled over at one point thinking surly it can’t be that late…well it was actually the next day because that’s how incredible this book is!!! It gave me everything I wanted and more!!!
Ivy is truly a mastermind when it comes to writing witty funny and morally complex characters!!! I absolutely cannot wait for book three BECAUSE THAT ENDING?!?!? THAT ENDING ABOUT TOOK ME OUT!!!!!!!!!!

Ever was witty and funny and just an incredible bad a** just like in the first one!!! Arson WAS DADDY AESON IN THIS ONE OMG!!!!!!!! Him trying to hunt down Ever was giving me ALL OF THE FEELS!!!!!!!
I truly truly love Ever as our FMC she is witty and funny and smart as HELLLLLLLLLLL. The way she gives Aeson a run for his money was just pure genius!!!! There was one thing after another after another I truly never saw all of them coming!!!! We get to see her open up a bit and be truly vulnerable in this one and watch her character grow a little more softer towards people in this one I loved it!!!
Aeson was HOTTTTTTTT AS DRAGON FIRE IN THIS BOOK!!!!! OH MY GODSSSSSS being able to see him in over drive and listen to his thoughts while he was tracking down Ever was EVERYTHINGGGGGGG!!!!!! This was a quick and easy read but it was also too short and too rushed for what it was trying to achieve. Plus this is not the last book in the series like I thought. It ends on a mild cliffhanger. There was plenty of fast paced action and some plot twists. The romance was lackluster and too much was piled on into too few pages. It needed to be longer. I did enjoy Aeson's POV though. I will def read the next one but this one left me feeling underwhelmed.

Thank you so much to the author and her team for sending me this ARC. I devoured this book in no time, and I can honestly say I enjoyed every moment. I absolutely adore Aeson, and this story definitely made him one of my favourite book boyfriends. I felt like a lot happened in the plot, yet at the same time, not much changed because there are still many mysteries and questions to uncover. By the end, I'm a bit unsure about the state of the romantic relationship; it seems like we return to where we started at the beginning of the book. I expected the challenges to evolve differently, but I’m excited to see where things go next.

Ivy Asher Has Blown Me Away! After that INTENSE cliffhanger in Spark the Flames, Ivy Asher completely surpassed every single expectation with Ignite the Infernos. I devoured this book. I literally could not put it down!
This series has quickly become an all time favourite urban fantasy obsession, turning the dial up to 11 on the tension, the stakes, and the absolute brilliance of the characters.
The dual POV in this installment is a massive game changer. I am utterly, hopelessly obsessed with Aeson. Getting inside his head while he is on the hunt adds so much emotional depth. Underneath his ruthless, fiercely possessive exterior is so much vulnerability and hurt. He is the ultimate alpha, his filthy mouth is top tier, and the way he burns for Ever is everything!
Why this is an immediate 5 star:
The Tropes: It delivers perfectly on enemies to lovers, forced proximity, and incredible found family dynamics.The Banter: The snarky dialogue and the secondary characters bring so much genuine humor and heart to the story.
The Tension and Spice: The physical tension and yearning between Ever and Aeson is excruciatingly good. Their chemistry is completely magnetic. 🌶️🌶️🌶️ on a spice meter I would say!
A Badass FMC: Ever is fiercely loyal, incredibly strong, and stubborn to a fault. Watching her protect her fellow Syphons while evading the Horde keeps the plot moving at lightning speed.
The Lore: Futuristic dragon shifters, political intrigue, and hidden betrayals flesh out this urban high fantasy world perfectly.The bombshell reveals toward the end left me screaming.
Ivy Asher knows exactly how to play with our heartstrings, and I am already counting down the days until the next book!

I enjoy this series so much! The audio for these books are absolutely wonderful and I love the narrators and each voice they do for the other characters. This is done in duet style and they add so much sass and attitude to their reading that really screams Ever and Aeson.
These two characters are so back and forth on whether they're enemies or lovers and part of that is due to a pesky dragon mating bond. But it was so much fun listening to them fight it and each other for this book even though obviously they're perfect together.
After the initial chase for the first part, Ever is back with Aeson and man is he just so perfect and supportive of her. But of course Ever always has to throw a wrench into everyone's plans. That ending was...diabolical. And now the wait begins for the finale!!
The world is so fun too with all their gadgets and technology they have. I really enjoy that mixed with fantasy.

Ignite the Infernos did not drop the ball for a single second! Second-book syndrome where? This officially solidified Secret of the Syphon as one of my all-time favorite series.
The romance level here is absolute soul-binding madness. We are talking "I will kill for you," "I literally cannot breathe unless I'm near you" levels of yearning. Because of all the trauma and trust issues, their dynamic is so complex, which makes watching their journey unfold so frustratingly, agonizingly beautiful. The angst? Immaculate. But paired with that top-tier banter and sass? It completely MAKES the book.
Beyond the main relationship, the side dynamics added so much heart. The Wing members living for their Heart and protecting the Scioness, the paternal vibes with the King, and Lorn’s fierce, brotherly protection were absolute masterpiece additions. Loving the Ever’s new Wing members. I think we will enjoy seeing how that all unfolds.
Anxiously counting down the days for Book 3!! I’ll 100% be doing a full series reread before it drops because it’s too good not to. And with that little cliff hanger?! Ugh!

Ignite the Infernos was definitely a journey book, but we learned SO much more about the magic and how everything actually works in this world.
I absolutely ate up the back and forth between Aeson and Ever. Their banter, tension, and complicated relationship continue to be one of my favorite parts of this series. And Ever’s growth in this one?! I loved watching her come into herself more and start to understand what she’s capable of.
There was a lot of traveling and information throughout this one, but it all felt like it was building toward something bigger.
And that ending?! I was not prepared. I genuinely sat there shocked because excuse me?! Now I need answers immediately. I need to know where this story is going because there is clearly so much more we still don’t know!

I am obsessed with this series. It’s fast paced, full of action, and the romantic tension is HOT. The game of cat and mouse between Ever and Aeson will pull you in right away. Once I started reading, I couldn’t put the book down. Dragon shifters, so many secrets, and the perfect snarky fmc. I need the next book asap!
If you want a bingeable series that is easy to devour this is it. Book two will be available on September 8th!
