Until my best/only friend disappears without a trace. Now, I race against time to unravel her mystery.
It gets worse when my boyfriend’s ex shows up uninvited, trying to convince him to leave our small backwater town—and me—in his rearview. But do I need to face the truth? Tanner Weston was born to charge into battle and rule the world. The place I call home won’t ever be enough for him.
Tough decisions will have to wait, as my past and present collide and old enemies threaten my found family and everyone I love.
Then, the killer snaps his trap…
Horizon, the third and final book in the Saltwater Trilogy, is a fast-paced, hurt/comfort, M/M romantic suspense featuring two men with nothing in common but an excess of emotional baggage. If you love grit, heart, a good redemption arc, and a hard-won happily ever after, dive into the Saltwater Trilogy today.
alcohol addiction, mention of off-page SA (side character)
Eighteen years ago, AG Meiers came to the US for adventure and stayed for love. Currently, she lives in New England with her husband and two awesome kids—balancing work, friends and family, and writing.
As a writer she loves to put her characters through a lot of challenges, conflict and heartbreak, before she allows them to find their happy-ever-after.
Meh. I should have stopped reading this series at book 2.
Problems with this book…
Tanner was super annoying and having Beau around did not help. Who knew Tanner’s least annoying ex would be Carly who I ended up liking a lot! The Rose story line was ugh. KC falling apart at her vanishing 🫠🫠🫠
Mateo was a bright spot. I’m glad he was in this book.
The end came together and I liked the epilogue but there was almost zero time that they were happy and together for more than a minute. I would have liked more happy 95% conflict and only 5% Joy. 🙄🙄🙄
This trilogy is a roller coaster ride from the very start. It kept me in my seat, reading, sometimes laughing, others crying with the characters themselves.
Sean walks in on Tanner wrapped up in another man’s arms. Before anything can be talked out, the final mystery of our trilogy begins. Rose is gone, the bar is trashed, and her house is empty. The drama that comes with her disappearance is pretty epic and fills in her backstory in a heroic yet disturbing way.
The story is so amazing. There is so much power and depth to each of the characters and to the tiny little town of Bedford, Maine. Sean created a new family to replace what he lost in Chicago. He and Rose adopted KC, a teenage runaway in trouble. Then came Tanner, somewhat cold and controlled, barreling in to save the day. Their romance was never easy not even in this final book. I have had a love/hate relationship with Tanner. I swear I spent almost the entire book thinking that Tanner was messing it all up. To me that goes back to author AG Meiers and how well they have written him. This book was not a smooth happily ever after romance. No, it was hard and sexy, troubled and vulnerable from the very beginning. Sean and Tanner fought for every ounce of happiness they found. They struggled to share their hearts and vulnerability with each other. They built a family and a life from the shakiest of foundations to the strongest well enforced ones. This final story had its hiccups and pain yet there was also such beauty in the ending. I absolutely love this trilogy!!
4.5 stars - I wasn’t quite sure where this story would still go, but it all played out in this installment like a well-planned trip. All of the various roads ended up intertwining and connecting as the story unfolded.
Sean and Tanner go through quite a bit in this one as well. They are committed but still have some communication and trust issues, along with their pasts coming back to wreak a little havoc.
Meanwhile, there is another mystery to solve that affects them all, especially Sean and KC. Poor KC has similar trust issues given all he has gone through. The Sean/Tanner issues dont help KC any, but thankfully, Mateo shows up and finds a place just when he is needed.
I really enjoyed this installment. The mystery and suspense had me rapidly turning pages to see it all play out. I loved how these guys all had to struggle a little but each of them really grew individually, as a couple and as a family. I’m sad this one came to an end even though everything wrapped up nicely. I will definitely be on the lookout for more from this author in the future.
Third in series and finale (The Saltwater Trilogy), must be read in order. Established couple. Small town. Hurt/comfort. Found family. Single POV.
Picking up soon after the end of the last book, Sean is trying to settle with his found family when an ex-boyfriend of Tanner’s appears and Rose goes missing. Communication falters between Sean and Tanner as they juggle a lot of personal and professional hurdles.
This book continues the series' strong found family storyline, with tons of loyalty and support between characters, not just Sean and Tanner. I do wish there was more on page time spent with Sean and Tanner as this is the finale and the last we get to see them as a couple, but I really enjoyed that they were absolute in their commitment to each other during the whole book and that never wavered. If I could make a request - the author would write an extended epilogue that included a glimpse at a future where we find out how KC, Bee, Mateo, Joan and Winter are doing, as well as Sean’s place in the department (does he ever become a detective again?), and of course if Tanner ever proposes, I would gladly read. 4.5 rounded up
1st person, past tense, single PoV (Sean) Sean Kelley (36), police officer at the Bedford PD Tanner Weston (32),
This is the third book of a trilogy following the same couple/characters, it should not be read as a standalone, you need to read Riptide and Gravity first.
After the events of the first two books it seems like Sean's life is about to return to an even keel, however it soon becomes evident that someone from Sean's past is still holding a grudge as he deals with his friend, Rose's, disappearance and the sudden appearance of Tanner's meddlesome ex, Beau.
This was such a great wrap up to this trilogy, I loved the way everything wove together. Learning more about 'Rose' was satisfying, she was a real badass and I adored the way that her affection for Sean and KC shone through even without her presence and despite her actions that would suggest the contrary. Sean and Tanner still have some obstacles, but you begin to really feel their commitment to one and other by the end. I was delighted that Matteo made a reappearance, his steady friendship provided some much needed support to Sean just when he needed it.
Not everything in neatly tied up in a perfect bow, but it feels more realistic that way and after sitting with it for a few moments I think I prefer it that way.
I will say I wish we got a little more time with Sean and Tanner happily settled into their relationship since their road was so rocky, but I am hopeful that this won't be the last we see of them as there is room in this world for other stories/relationships.
A.G. Meiers is fast becoming a favourite author of mine. I've loved this series and her Jake's Bar series as well. I guess I need a little more romantic suspense in my life.
I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.
Horizon brings us to the third and final book in the Saltwater Trilogy and the books should be read in order. Sean and Tanner have the house that Sean always wanted, Sean is surrounded by Tanner’s siblings, KC and Bee, and it’s the closest thing Sean has had to a family in a while. However, communication between Sean and Tanner could use some work. Rose goes missing and Beau arrives and life is busy and chaotic. For a smart guy, Tanner seems willfully blind to the pain Beau causes to those closest to Tanner, and Beau is a stereotypical caricature.
The book is action heavy, as Rose goes missing and Sean and KC are desperate to find her.
The blurb for this book (third installment in a trilogy, so gentle note you’ll want to start with book one, if you haven’t already) promises a “hard-won happily ever after” and the emphasis there is definitely on the “hard-won.” Things do not slow down, plot-wise, in this book: the narrative twists and turns deserve to be experienced in their own right, so I’ll avoid detail and just go with, brace yourself (mostly in a good way). It would be nice to see Sean and Tanner spend a bit more time together in this one– they’ve found their equilibrium, but there’s not a of time to explore that because *waves hand at plot.* Overall, however, that’s maybe more feature than bug for this series as a whole, and it definitely makes for an engrossing read. 4.5 stars.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I loved the first 2 books in this series, and this brought things to a pretty satisfactory conclusion. There's drama from Tanner's ex (and not the one you might think), the mystery of Rose to solve and more troubles for Sean and Tanner as they try to figure out their work lives alongside their relationship. Great to see more of KC and Bee as well. Loved it, the only thing I'd have liked that we didn't get was a bit more of a resolution to the Chicago situation from Sean's previous work scandal. I'd have liked ALL the loose ends wrapped up but maybe the point is that life doesn't work like that, and it doesn't always matter. Great series, look forward to more from this author.
Yesssss!!!! Hell yes!! First and foremost this book had me on the edge.My boy Sean gosh he owns my heart. Even with his past he’s loyal to the Tee! His love for KC,Bee,Rose, Mateo,Joan…Tanner! Their love and relationship are tested and put through the wringer. Tanner finally!! Won my heart over. It was hard earned for us both lol. You want a low angst.suspense, enemies to lovers I totally recommend this book but you must read them in order!! Ag Meiers totally nail this book just like the other 2 books.
A very good ending to an excellent series. Sean was healing enough to be able to see that Tanner needed his support as much as the other way around, and Tanner himself also had enough character development. The group in the small town is really starting to feel like a family. While I didn't quite get sucked in by this last book as much as the previous two, it tied up all the plot ends well and left a well-earned HEA.
Horizon is the third and final book in the Saltwater Trilogy series and what an ending it was, this must be read in order. This is a hurt/comfort, found family, small town read about an established couple, Sean and Tanner. What an emotional roller coaster of a ride this trilogy was, this couple worked hard as heck for their HEA, but they got it. I really enjoyed this series and would love to visit this town and family again.
The final book in the trilogy delivers everything I love about this author—well-written characters, fast-paced suspense, and strong found family vibes.
Told only in Sean’s first-person POV, the story starts with a bang, threatening his hard-won peace. I genuinely didn’t see all the twists coming—the suspense plot kept me guessing.
Emotional, gripping, and full of loyalty and love—such a strong ending to the series.
A trilogy worth the read. Every book was brilliant. Sean and Tanner will remain in my heart for a very long time. I love them both so much! It ended the way it should have. I wish there was more, but I understand. I have found a new author to read. I can't wait to read more of their books. Great story telling. I'm hooked.
3.5 rounded up to 4 because I really liked this series, loved the epilogue. Still love Sean, marginally like Tanner a bit more, Carly so much more, adore KC and Mateo. And basically want to kick Beau into the river. There was so much going on, it seemed our boys were only happy ever other chapter. I did like the Rose storyline. The epilogue was a perfect wrap up to this lovely series.
