I haven’t read a book in one sitting in a long time but this one right here had me doing just that. I was pulled in from the very beginning. Every chapter has me anticipating what was going to happen next. Something was very strange about the Roswell’s , their daughter, and their big creepy house. Every one had secrets, even the babysitter, and I was on edge trying to figure out what was really going on. When the truth is finally revealed, it’s cruel and horrific.

This one is for my thriller girlies that love calculated characters, suspense, and an unthinkable twisted plot. I highly recommend reading this! 🤎

Thank you to the author for allowing me to read this early!

5 ⭐️

I have thoroughly enjoyed every book that I have read in The Red Series, but this one will certainly live rent free in my head for a while. I love how Tanisha Stewart built the suspense, as you definitely spend a good portion of the book wondering exactly where it is heading. She teases just enough to make you very aware that there is something sinister underlying, but the depthness of the plot was behind blowing. I especially loved the dual POVs that alternated from the antagonist and the protagonist, their perspectives were well balanced & definitely necessary for the story.

Sariah accepts a babysitting job for Caroline and Richard to stay with their daughter Emma, while the couple enjoys their baby moon. They are expected their second child and want some alone time prior to their new bundle arriving. It is evident that something creepy is going on in this house, with Emma, with the babysitter, and with this couple. Everyone has secrets & ulterior motives. It is slowly unraveled, who can be trusted & who cannot.

Highly recommended read, I think everyone will enjoy this twisty thriller!

If you haven't picked up the red series, you don't know what you're missing. The Babysitter had me on edge from the start. Tanisha drops clues letting the reader know there's more than what meets the eye. It's suspenseful and draws you in. I was invested in the outcome. The ending did not disappoint.

Tanisha Stewart did it again with this book! It was filled with twists and turns and kept me guessing throughout the entire book. The plot and detailed writing made me visualize it like it was a Lifetime movie! This book highlighted how there is no stopping a mother who loves her child and nothing they would not do! Hell has no fury like a mother scorned was indeed the message! Sariah proved that there was nothing she wouldn’t do in order to solve the mystery surrounding her baby. It was interesting to see the different parts of the story come together to provide more and more clues of how the main characters got to the tangled positions they were in. I loved how to parts were sectioned beginning with the present day, then giving background history and knowledge to fill in the blanks from the past then back to the present day and then ending weaving and neatly tying up the story of what happened with all the various characters involved in the story. This book was a masterpiece and I loved it!

This did exactly what it needed to do for a story under 200 pages! It kept me intrigued from the first chapter! Please check TWs, as it touches on very sensitive topics but this was too good. My first read from this author but not my last.

A wild ride

Sariah is the definition of I will never stop looking. This book took me through so many emotions because this happens every single day. Whenever I read anything by Tanisha I already know to get my emotions ready for a wild ride. Caroline and Richard got exactly what they deserved because y’all can’t just go around doing whatever you want!!!! Another 5 star read from one of my favorite thriller authors.

All the emotions. This reads like something straight from the headlines. The scariest stories are the ones that seem true. There’s a thin line between delusional and reality and this story has you questioning which is the case. Is it happening or is her mind playing tricks on her?

The backstory for each character pulls at your heart strings and makes you second guess what you think you already knew. All the secrets and lies.
It’s like Law and order:SVU.

I read this directly after reading The Housemaid by Frieda Mcfadden. Funny, they were KIND of giving similar, but different. I feel like Housemaid, The Last Mrs, Parrish and The Babysitter were all giving similar "nanny/ girl from hell, coming to STEAL your life". But THIS was in her OWN LANE and very set apart from the other two in that with Housemaid and Mrs. Parrish we see wives reaching OUT, to bring IN a girl into her home to set up for failure. Whereas in this book, this girl has her reasons to COME INTO this family's home as the live in nanny for a week.
In The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constintine, we see this girl Amber DIRECTLY come for (to steal) Daphne Parrish's way of living (her handsome husband, all of his money and rich lifestyle), and Daphne just handing him over on a silver platter. Not having a issue with ANYTHING that this girl is doing but about half way through the book the perspective changes and we come to find out exactly WHY Daphne is handing over Jackson to Amber . Now, Daphne didn't so much REACH OUT and CAUSE, as she ALLOWED Amber to come in and "ruin" her life.
In The Housemaid we see the WIFE, Nina reaches out and pulls in, seemingly innocent Millie into her and her husband's lie to hand her husband Andrew over to. Nina kind of plays on being "crazy" and makes Millie feel justified in her feelings for Andrew. And again, about half way through we find out Nina's reasons for setting up Millie. Both stories are disgusting examples of women throwing other women under the bus, NOT JUST THE BUS, UNDER THE MONSTER TRUCK, to save her own necks.... but honey I GUESS....LMAOOOO!!
However THIS book was SIMILAR, but very different. Because the reasons that the girl Sariah HAS for wanting to be the babysitter of The Rodwells for a week, is absolutely dastardly and it completely TWISTED my TWIZZLER. Even Mrs. Rodwell was written kind similarly to Nina in that bright, perfectly happy way. And them having a creepy daughter. But still, so well done on giving a different spin to this familiar "nanny" trope. TEN STARS!

This book had me locked in! I just knew I had the story figured out… until I didn’t. 😅

What starts as a simple babysitting job quickly turns into something much darker. The tension is there from page one, and the deeper you go, the more you realize—everybody’s got something to hide. It’s not just secrets… it’s strategy. 👏🏾

Tanisha Stewart doesn’t play with the pacing. This is one of those quick, “just one more chapter” reads where every moment feels like it’s leading to something bigger. And when the truth starts creeping out? Whew.

What I loved most was how the story never went the obvious route. You feel the danger even when nothing is happening. And that ending? 🔥

If you enjoy:
🔍 Quiet suspense that builds before it breaks
🙅🏾‍♀️ Characters who are way more than they seem
💥 A twisty plot with layered motives
📖 A thriller that respects your time and your brain

Then The Babysitter is calling your name. It’s fast, sharp, and has just enough “what the hell is going on?!” to keep you flipping pages.

The Red Series never misses

"The Babysitter" proves once again why Tanisha Stewart's Red Series is a must-read for thriller fans. What sets this book apart is how the author crafts a villain so complex, you'll find yourself uncomfortably understanding her motives - even as you're horrified by her actions. That's no easy feat.

Bittersweet to hear the series is ending, but what a ride it's been!

I was very confused and curious reading this story! Tanisha has a way of provoking anxiety in this story. I was not expecting the plot twist. I love how everything is written, leaving no room for questioning what really happened. It’s my first book of the red series and I will most definitely be reading the others!

crazy good!!!

Listen, it has been a really long time since I was able to sit down and read a book in its entirety. This one did not disappoint!! I was sooo stressed out in the beginning for 2 reasons… without giving anything away! I thought Emma was a lunatic lol and the way Mr. Rodwell kept saying “Caroline.” Lmbo! But eventually I was thinking everybody was crazy and while trying to figure out what was going to happen next I felt crazy like they rubbed off on me!!! I love the way the story was told though and I have no questions! I’m satisfied! Completely!! Great read!!

Well crafted story

Each time I thought I knew where the story was going, the author proved me wrong. The suspense and plot twists were perfectly weaved together, and by the end, I was left gasping. The characters were well written, and the plot was believable. The Red Series is one to remember. I’m looking forward to the next book.

🌟 4.5/5 – Babysitting Gone Bananas, Unhinged Mothers, and “WTF is in that basement?” Energy 🌟
Title: The Babysitter
Author: Tanisha Stewart
Tropes: Unreliable Narrator 🧠 Psychological Spiral 🔪 Creepy Kid Core 👧🏽 Motherhood Madness 🤰 Secrets & Surveillance 🎥
Spice Level: N/A but the tension? 🔥🔥🔥 (more mind games than bedroom games)

Review:
If you love your thrillers with a side of delusion, a sprinkle of obsession, and a possibly haunted child who may or may not be running the whole show—this book is your Roman Empire.

Sariah lands a high-paying babysitting job with the wealthy and mysterious Rodwell family. Everything looks perfect: the gorgeous house, the sweet little girl, the smiling pregnant mother, and the trip they’re taking that leaves Sariah all alone with the kid. But under the surface? Something is very, very wrong.

Let’s just say…
✔️ The kid draws creepy stuff and gaslights you
✔️ The mom talks to her belly more than her daughter
✔️ The security cameras are watching everyone, but who’s watching them?
✔️ There’s a folder labeled “Angie.” You don’t know her… but you will.
✔️ There’s a purple bike. And it does not belong to Emma.

Sariah thinks she’s the one snooping for secrets. But what if the house is doing the same to her?

Caroline (the mom) is one of the most fascinatingly unstable women I’ve read in a long time. She’s vibrant, maternal, and spiraling into a very specific brand of madness:

💬 “Why are you always trying to put a damper on my excitement? I thought you wanted a son.”
💬 “Fuck that medication!”
💬 “Everything is perfect.” (Narrator: It was, in fact, not perfect.)

Sariah, meanwhile, is doing her best to be composed while cracking under pressure, seeing shadows, and sleepwalking toward the truth. Literally nothing in this house is what it seems, and little Emma? She might be the most terrifying and brilliant piece of the puzzle.

This book gives:
✔️ Gaslight, gatekeep, ghost child
✔️ Mommy issues on steroids
✔️ “We’re just going on a babymoon! Nothing to see here!” 😵
✔️ Slow-burn psychological unraveling
✔️ Hidden grief and obsession that punches you in the chest

Favorite Quotes:
💌 “We need to get home. Now.”
💌 “She’s watching me. The question is: did someone tell her to, or does she know what I’m looking for?”
💌 “That purple bike belongs to someone.”
💌 “Angie used to read this to me too.”
💌 “What the fuck is going on?”

Final Thoughts:
The Babysitter is not your average domestic thriller. It’s a fever dream of control, grief, and generational secrets hiding in plain sight. It’s less “whodunit” and more “how far will this go?” The dread builds slowly and deliciously, leading to twists that cut deep. If you like unreliable narrators, dark family secrets, and children who definitely know more than they’re saying—this one will have you up all night.

this book is beautiful, infuriating, and honestly? it made me nervous to give birth at hospitals, the fear is real..

❞Regardless of the evil Caroline and Richard did, they can’t destroy what we’re rebuilding now. Can’t break the bonds we’re mending. Can’t stop our children from finding their way home. Even if home isn’t what any of us expected it to be.❞

𝘮𝘺 𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ( this might be one of my favorite books in the series, hands down! )

𝘮𝘺 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸: wow. just… WOW. i just finished The Babysitter by Tanisha Stewart and i am completely broken— but i’m still happy in a way. i went into this expecting something in the vein of a creepy, haunted house thriller (like Hidden Pictures by Jason Rekulak), but what i got was a deeply emotional and absolutely gripping story that will stay with me for a veryyyy long time. the narrative was nothing short of AMAZING.

this book instantly brought back memories of the Lifetime movie, The Carlina White Story, and just like that movie, this book broke me. the sheer sickness of someone thinking they have the right to steal something so precious—a child—from a family is just unfathomable.. sariah, she was sooo strong, her strength and refusal to give up on the search, even when everyone else seemed to be, was truly inspiring. she is the backbone of this story.

caroline’s POV? talk about infuriating! every time i got to her chapters on part 4, i was absolutely livid. she was so delusional and straight-up crazy—i kept yelling at her to just sit her butt down! while i understand her perspective, i cannot accept her actions. there were other options, and her choice was devastating. this book lowkey made me nervous about ever stepping foot in a hospital to give birth… and that’s the scariest part! the idea that this kind of nightmare could happen in real life is terrifying. those baby girls and mothers didn’t deserve that at all.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 raises the question of what is one willing to do as a mother. How far are you willing to go to protect your children? Will you put your life on the line and come face to face with evil to make sure that those who wrong you and your family get what they deserve?!

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 was a fast-paced, thrilling suspense with heart-pounding action that had me guessing up until the end. I loved how this story was written. There were a lot of amazing twists and turns and up until about the halfway point, I was still trying to figure out who the bad guy/villain was. This was exciting and really kept me on my toes. Once this person was discovered, I was waiting for them to get caught or for the protagonist to make them pay. Though I was wondering, even at the last chapters “will this person actually fool everyone and get away with this,” I will say, the ending was very unexpected yet satisfying.

This story does contain some sensitive topics so please be sure to read the TWs.

Well, didn’t see that coming! 👀 A mother searching for her lost child, another mother keeping secrets, and a father trying to do what he thought was best. Society thought she was crazy, the police dismissed her… but were they right? Oh, how quickly our "ride or dies" can flip on us. Smh.

This read felt like it could’ve come straight out of a real news headline. It was believable, chilling, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something like this has definitely happened somewhere. Now Caroline? Oh, she was straight-up cray cray 🤪—I kept asking myself, “who is she even talking to?!”

And listen, when that gun came out, I had to do the infamous flip-ahead 🫣 just to calm my nerves and see where we were headed. (Don’t worry, I circled back and read every word 😆).

I really liked the ending. They needed that connection. I’d definitely recommend this one. Solid 4.5⭐️

Run...just run!

This story was so creepy. Sariah ends up taking a job as a babysitter in this huge home with a sweet little girl named Emma but then things become strange. Sariah starts to hear and see things. It's clear that somebody else is in the house with them, somebody is lurking in the darkness. Someone is playing games that are frightening. And yet little Emma denies all, leaving Sariah wondering if Emma is to blame or if she's losing her mind. What's happening is so far beyond Sarah's Imagination that when the truth comes out it's just truly unbelievable.

I would have packed up Emma the 1st night, taken her away and not looked back... But there is so much more than a possible haunting going on here. So very much more...

ARC Review - The Babysitter
Thank you for the ARC.

This story pulls you in from the very beginning—you think you know what's about to happen, but then comes a twist… and another one after that. The plot and characters feel so real, which makes it all the more chilling because, unfortunately, situations like this do happen in real life. There are people out there who live through this kind of trauma.

That being said, this book may be a trigger for some.....proceed with caution. However, it also has the potential to encourage. For anyone who may find themselves in a similar situation, it offers a powerful message: don’t give up, even when it feels like everyone else has.

Well done Queen of short story thrillers!

👩🏾‍⚕️⚠️👩🏾‍🍼

I understand Caroline wanting something really badly and not being able to get it, but there’s a way to do things, and this wasn’t it. I also hate how she just stereotyped as though she’s not a Black woman herself. You never know what a person is going through.

Then you got weak asf Richard that doesn’t have any backbone. You could tell their union wasn’t solid.

I felt for Sariah. She would not give up. She believed what she believed and stood on it. Loved that for her.

This was a thriller with twists and turns. It was suspenseful and flowed. It was quick and interesting.

This was my first thriller read of the year. I must say Tanisha did her big one with this book.

It kept you engaged and hanging in for one more chapter. I was in a chokehold.

The trauma in this book is real. It may be triggering for some, so please pay attention and believe them.

Sariah was focused. She was on a mission and had plans to not be derailed no matter what anyone had to say. I enjoyed her determination.

Everyone got what they earned in the end. I want you to really pay attention to the trigger warnings before you get into it.

This book gets a 5/5 stars! This is coming from someone who will not watch a horror/thriller movie. But this author has gained a lifetime fan!

Thank you for the wild ride.

I liked this book, but it reminded me of a Lifetime movie—I wasn’t really thrilled. I think I expected something paranormal, so I was a little disappointed, but still interested in the story. I enjoy fast-paced books, but I didn’t feel much connection to most of the characters. Sariah was the only one I started to care about.

It was a predictable story, just told in a way that mixed the pieces around so you couldn’t see what was coming next. I was surprised by the addition of the other kids and the reason for the “trip.” The story was good, and I finished it in one sitting, but would I read it again or continue the series? Not really.

If I did read another book from this series, which one would you recommend?

I was not ready for this......

The Babysitter is a gripping psychological thriller that lures you in from the start and doesn't let go. What seems like an ordinary job of babysitting, spirals into a dangerous game of deception, secrets, and unexpected twists. The story delivers constant tension and nail-biting drama, while exploring the darker side of relationships and trust, making you question who's really safe and what's hidden behind closed doors. The razor-sharp dialogue, suspenseful plot, and emotional depth will have you on the fence of who is right, who is wrong, and who blurred the lines to get their happy ending.

I have yet to be disappointed in this series. The suspense drove me through the pages without hesitation. The twist and reveal of what is going on made the need to get to the end an absolute must.

In this story a couple is going on a baby moon which is a new one for my vocabulary where they want to spend some alone time before the newborn arrives. But they have a little kid at home in which they need a babysitter while they venture off to the tropics.

The author gives just enough to lead the reader to know that something is not right with the characters but did extremely well in keeping the anticipation , the edge of your seat .. intensity throughout.

Great story

Babysitter
Tanisha Stewart

Sariah Stewart has one chance to discover what she’s been looking for. She tried being patient. Patience has only provided heartaches. On her own accord, she has to trust her own intuition.

At the beginning, I had a different ideas of how this novel would proceed. I was very wrong. I knew someone was nuts. I just wasn’t sure on which characters it was.

Caroline and Richard go through great lengths to maintain the image they’ve created. Nothing is what it seems.

I enjoyed this thriller a lot. It’s fast-paced. Once I got an understanding of what was going on, I knew who to rooting for instantly.
