Ella Walker Henderson is the author of character driven epic fantasy, full of adventure and a dash of romance. Some of her favorite tropes are enemies to friends to lovers, the heroine's journey, and the chosen duo's quest. She writes about women who must fight for what they love, whether on a battlefield or among friends. As she's always a fan of a good plot twist, you may not know which characters to trust.

Third installment and I have officially lost my sanity. This book did not come to play. The tension? Cruel. The buildup? Painfully perfect. And yes, I went in expecting a cliffhanger because at this point that’s just tradition… but what I did NOT expect was that ending.

I truly thought this was it. The moment. The payoff. I had my hopes up, my heart wide open, ready to celebrate. And instead? The author looked me dead in the eyes and said, “Try again.” I am shook. Betrayed. Emotionally spiraling.

So anyway, I’ll be over here obsessing until the next book drops because there is no way I can live peacefully after that.

I cannot and will not ever say this is a bad book. I’m so deeply entranced with this world. There’s politics that are well thought out but more than that there’s social dynamic and maneuvering that take hold. Beyond even that there’s the relations between charters on a personal level, both brothers and sisters coming for one another whether found or born family. I’m OBSESSED!
I’m really frustrated that I started an unfinished series, there’s 2 more books planned. I’m 3 books in… IM TO FAR IN AND I NEED MORE.
Legitimately this series is more than addicting and I strongly recommend fantasy readers look beyond the common trends and tropes and find the new concepts taking hold in this beautifully written series.

OMG! How many more twists and cliffhangers can my heart handle. Ella Walker Henderson you have done it again. This is my favorite one yet! The characters and plot have really developed and advanced in this book. That slow burn has notched up a few degrees, but still has me on the edge of my seat. This book hasn’t even officially been released and I’m counting the days until June 10th for book four! Thank you for allowing me to be part of your ARC Team!

I AM OBSESSED!!

This series just gets better and better! The slow burn is perfection. My favorite development is the how the bonds evolve in this book between the characters and the dragons and I can’t wait to see how this changes with the next couple books!

As usual, really enjoyed this (though it needed a last beta read with some wording mistakes littered around!) It is great to learn more about the world, though I wish we knew a bit more about the customs and traditions. A lot of them are skated by and none really influence the characters - the only consequences of things are connected to the main storyline.

I'm really enjoying the slowness of the relationship - Zaydah says that she's not ready and isn't even as she acknowledges and accepts her feelings. Stand on your business and who you are girl, know your limits! Love that.

I HATED it being a funny lil joke about Claudius and (Finn?) getting with young girls (obviously age of consent), like that's not funny and I can't see Zaydah finding it appropriate to joke about? Why make that joke? Why not another about them being scoundrels without young girls being drawn into it? Because even Zaydah, I keep getting distracted by her age in comparison to some of the men hitting on her - she young!
Also, UGH, why can she not have close male friends rather than 'brothers'. Brothers in arms sure, but to define the closeness they always have to be brothers rather than close friends. Please just let them be close friends. You argue they are then take a step back at the defining of it. Let them be FRIEEENDSSS (this can be AS WELL AS brotherly but why instead of)

I LOVE that there is literally zero miscommunication happening. Misunderstandings? Sure. But each time some authors would let miscommunication spit some angsty boring plotline you are nipping it in the bud and saying hey. How about some communication. Doesn't solve all issues, could actually make some things harder to understand! But by god, these characters WILL communicate clearly. LOVE IT. Although. Gimme some more clear communication on Claudius' gal. Who that? (Just actually got jumpscared by the idea it could be this Ilyia who will be in the next choosing as mentioned by the but at the end of the book. Like, I guess he's only two years older, but at they would have to have met before the choosing which... Would be noncery...)

LETTHEPASTSHIELDSANDPRINCESBEGAY. IF THIS IS THE INTENSITY OF THE BOND AT LEAST SOME OF THEM WOULD HAVE BEEN GAY. Just a lil, they seemed super close... Rather than anything overt since it's obvs not okay in this kingdom!!!

I am so excited to find out where this ending goes. Mr Augustus sir, are you a traitor to your own kingdom??
Are you gonna get any powers from this stone?
Were you and Rainer revived from the dead with the other stone and it's given you the heebie jeebies and a list for power?
Is your wife gonna come into this more? Rather than being a sad discarded story on the side like Mara now has been? (Still think that lady should have been mentioned to be an Aero before she got pregnant with Brev and has to step down for some sexist reason to tie back to what we learned earlier).
Aris, Lucca, Aurelia, please gimme some good sibling action. I KNOW you play the court together rather than separately. Or at least the older two did and Lucca has now revealed he can too so they should team up a lot more.
Zaydah, you're ready for this power. But how will accepting being OP and heiress impact you? All those eyes on you but now with a confidence that you deserve them because you deserve the overwhelming power you contain. HOW is that going to change who you are my overthinking anxious queen? Excited to find out in June!

When Zaydah wakes up in an unfamiliar location after being taken by someone she trusted, she wasn’t expecting the reception she got. She feared she had been taken by the enemy but she finds herself being given a proposition by a secret society called the Ring of Light that is trying to stop what Brev and Rainer’s plans are with the Ring of Darkness. The Ring of Light decided to try reasoning with Zaydah in hopes of swaying Aris in their fight and what is to come. Initially distrusting and leery of this group, something even their representative agrees with, they prove their trust by providing something that even Prince Aris couldn’t do, her mother’s safety. Zaydah is armed with a partial peace of mind and an incomplete prophecy, words that Zaydah is trying to not let get to her, when she is brought to the capital. Now she just waits to be reunited with Aris, trying to figure out what their new roles will look like now that they are officially Prince and Shield, and how they will navigate the bond between the two of them.

The pieces are finally coming together and I hope that the remaining 2 books in this series just knocks it out of the park. The forces moving behind the scenes are starting to come out on both sides and with how this book ended, the real motives will hopefully start to come to light and be actively dealt with. It is clear that some people have been playing a very long game and are much more enmeshed in what is going on than we thought. I am curious who other members of the Ring of Light are and may need to go back to the first 2 books looking for clues. Zaydah’s mother is definitely a force to be reckoned with and I am sure she will be putting someone in their place later in the series. I really appreciate the rest of the Attilan initiate group that is Zaydah’s friends and found family. I would love to read more of their adventures. I am also glad we got to see more of Bastius, he is so much fun to read about. As for the main characters, I am glad to see a bit more prince being a person and not just a mask. We understand why he protects himself, that father is something else, so seeing the person beneath the title and mask is wholesome. As for Zaydah, I feel she is still letting others and other influences guide her instead of her taking her life in her own hands. The Shield title makes her see herself as a title and martyr but not a person. This prophecy really gets to her and she feels almost consumed by that and others wanting to possess what she means but not her as a person. When she finally takes control of her fate she will be a force unlike anything we have seen.

I accidentally stumbled upon your Instagram page during one of my mindless scrolling sessions (also the way I usually find new books to read), and it had me hooked immediately.

I absolutely love the Dark Sky series by Ella Walker Henderson (even though only three books have been released so far).

One of the things I loved most was the FMC, Zaydah. Her grit and determination are incredible. No matter what challenges she faces, she keeps going. She is someone impossible not to root for. I found myself feeling so many emotions alongside her throughout the story. But sometimes her stubbornness when it comes to Brev, and how she hopes that there is still some goodness in him after everything he has done makes me want to bang my head against a wall. But I understand that I would probably be just the same if I were in her place. You can't just turn off what you feel for a person even if they had betrayed you.

The found family theme adds so much warmth and heart to the story - her initiate group, Group Fourteen, her friends in the Attilan divison and even the new friends she made in the Dionys division. I also really enjoyed the fighting and survival elements. I felt like I was part of it all myself, that I was a character fighting alongside her. Also, I can't seem to get enough of her banter with Valentius - its always so entertaining.

Coming to the MMC, Prince Aris - I just love him. He is stubborn, guarded, and not easy to deal with. His backstory adds so much depth to his character and explains why he is the way he is. The slow burn between them is just perfect. I am pretty sure we will see more of their love and relationship in Book 4.

I can't wait to see how Zaydah is going to fulfill the prophecy and become the Shield Queen. Now that the King is dead, her biggest obstacle is going to be Prince Augustus, the new King.

“Wherever you are in the palace, you had better find a way to a roof by the time I arrive otherwise, I’m tearing a hole through the nearest wall”.

I’m at a loss on how to describe how much I love this series. It holds a special place in your book heart. Ella once again does an amazing job keeping her readers locked in and engrossed the entire time in not just the first or second book but the third book keeps your interest piqued as the series moves at a steady pace while throwing curve balls at you guessing what will happen next or in some cases what your hoping will finally transpire only to have the carrot dangled in front of you just to have it ripped away making you thirsting for more while pouting at the same time for not getting your way. There are several characters in the series, some that have been there since the beginning and some that are new that leave a lasting impression even if they play a smaller role making them memorable. The creatures in this series (similar to dragons) are a big part of the story with their abilities to have an emotional connection with their riders. I started reading this series because it had dragons but stayed because of the emotions it brought, its ability to pull me in as I read through the pages, making me laugh, making me gasp, and keeping me on my toes wanting to know what happens next. You love some character's and despise others. The feelings you get and the emotions you experience while reading is like no other. Get comfortable in your favorite reading spot, you will be there a while as you are simply unable to put the book down. The slow burn will burn you and the emotions will lift you and damage you in a way you could never imagine possible as once again you are left flipping the last page back and forth thinking this has got to be a mistake….where is the rest!?!?

Gods this series is sooooo freaking good! This was a FANTASTIC third book and I need the fourth literally ASAP - could NOT put it down - have now read all three books in less than 3 days because I've basically just binged them.

I LOVE the characters - the fmc, Zaydah, is fantastic, and she's got the BEST found family and friends in her initiate group, in her training group, Group Fourteen, even the new team her proximity as Shield to the prince puts her with his closest friends - they are all just as fantastic. And getting to get a bit more insight into the prince was nice.

The plot - the turns and twists and conflict and tensions and Zaydah's own conflicting thoughts and emotions - what she wants vs what she believes is possible vs what her experiences with Brev have her afraid of repeating/not willing to have to face that kind of hurt again, the whole prophecy, the King's health, there's soooooo many things not even counting what book 3 culminates in deep underground in Vulcanis - it's all so good and I CANNOT wait for the conclusion - to see where things go, what this fire might be, how far Zaydah and Valentius will climb and go, how much more fun familial/brotherly bantering we will get between Z and all of her friends, her creature, what might progress between Valentius and Avenaria, gods there's sooo many things I can't wait for for book 4.

Cannot recommend this book/series enough, DEFINITELY planning on checking out and reading all of Ella Walker Henderson's books asap based on how much I've enjoyed these three so far.

Soooo happy I was lucky enough to be an ARC reader for this and hope that I find my way to the application for book 4 because I literally don't know if I can wait all the way until June 9th to read it :P

So. Many. Emotions.

Just when I think I have a #1 favourite book of Ella's she sneaks a new one in front of us that just destroys me, in the best way!

We've seen a lot of growth and development of the main characters by book 3. I literally feel like I have been living for YEARS alongside these characters, and yet its in the blink of an eye I'm reading these stories.

I feel all of Zaydah's emotions as she's navigating her bond with Valentius, her shield link with Aris, and unraveling the prophecy set before her. The author does such an amazing job of immersing you into the very fiber of her characters. It's so sneaky, one minute your reading a fresh chapter, the next you are mirroring Zaydah's butterflies, or anxiety, or anger.

Talk about a girl never having a thought/emotion to herself again though. Between her bond with Val and a shield link with Aris, I actually felt exhausted for Zaydah at one point, she was working so hard to block others from feeling her thoughts.

I adore that we are also getting to see a softer and more emotional side of Valentius and his bond with Zaydah in this book. Anytime he chuckles, makes me chuckle. How did this girl get so lucky to have a creature AND an entire flock of men all giving us "touch her and die" vibes.

Favourite chapter: 37
Although, that ending has me reeling...again.

I LOVE this series and I'm eagerly awaiting for the rest of the books to release.

Thank you to the author for the ARC opportunity; I am eternally grateful!

🐉 Dragons and Dragon Riders
💪 Underdog Heroine
💖 Found Family (Group 14 you have my heart)
😱 Will They or Won’t They
🔮 Prophecy / Chosen One
💘 He Falls First
📖 Reads Fast

In Wings of Darkness, the third installment in the Dark Sky series, Zaydah continues to navigate her complicated connection with Prince Aris while also learning more about the prophecy and the mysteries surrounding the Ring of Darkness and the Ring of Light.

The romance continues to build with a great deal of emotional tension. They are still not together, which is both frustrating and compelling, but they share a unique bond that allows them to feel each other’s emotions. Moments of jealousy, anger, and attraction create an added layer of intensity to their interactions. Zaydah remains cautious while Aris appears to be falling first and very deeply, which makes their especially engaging to follow.

If you have not yet discovered this character driven dragon rider fantasy, I highly recommend putting it on your radar. Yes, it has dragons and dragon riders. 🐉 The worldbuilding is immersive without being overwhelming, making it one of those “just one more chapter” books that keeps you reading far later than intended. 🌙📖

The good news is that this is a planned five book series releasing this year, so readers will not have to wait long between installments. Books one through three are available now, and book four is expected to release in June. 🐉📚

Wings of Darkness by Ella Walker Henderson

5/5 stars

It took me a minute to find time to read this after getting it with work but hot damn did I finish it within a day when I got the chance! Absolutely loved this book. I love the whole series so far but book 3 has to be my all time favourite at the moment!

There’s just more in depth experiences and events taking place. We get more world building and more opportunity to see the connection between Zaydah and Aris as well as Valentius and Avenaria grow. Aris turns into such a different person when he’s with Zaydah but he’s not afraid to show his protective side towards her with others and when he finally was able to claim her as they gave the connection between them a real chance, I was giggling and kicking my feet thinking yesssssss. And Aris’s little display he put on for Zaydah when he used his shirt to wipe sweat away during training multiple times after Bastius pointed out it was all for her had me even more excited! I think that’s my favourite part of the book. It was always Aris from the first book hehe

I didn’t see the possible mate connection between Valentius and Avenaria until it was spelt out to me but they would be cute! I could go on and on and on about this book because I loved it so much so I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you go read it too!

Wings of Darkness by Ella Walker Henderson — book three — officially wrecked me in the best way.
So proud to be part of this ARC!

This installment does not come to play. The tension is relentless, the slow burn is exquisitely painful, and just when you think you’re about to get the payoff you’ve been waiting for… Ella reminds you who’s in charge. I went in bracing for a cliffhanger (because at this point, it’s tradition), but I was still completely unprepared for that ending. Emotionally spiraling is an understatement.

What makes this series so special isn’t just the dragon-adjacent creatures or the high-stakes fantasy — it’s the emotion. The bonds. The found family. The way every character, whether longtime favorite or newer addition, leaves a lasting impression. The enemies-to-lovers slow burn continues to simmer in the most torturous and satisfying way, and the character growth — especially as walls come down and vulnerabilities surface — adds so much depth.

I started this series for the dragons. I stayed for the feelings. This book made me laugh, gasp, stress, hope, and then stare at the final page wondering how I’m supposed to function until the next release.

I received an ARC copy and am honored to leave my honest review. So proud and grateful to be part of the ARC team for a series that has completely claimed my book heart.

I received an ARC copy of this book from the author.

I absolutely LOVED this book! This series is truly a slow burn/enemies to lovers. It is so nice to have the tension drawn out and to watch the relationship slowing bloom into something more. Zaydah is really working through her feelings and trying to learn how to control her emotions. She is embarrassed that Aris can feel everything she feels but he is so good at shutting his out. I enjoyed learning more of Aris' backstory; it helps to explain why he is so good at hiding his emotions and why he pushes people away.

Zaydah's relationship with Valentius is such a huge part of my loving this series. I also thoroughly enjoy her friendships and how they each help her cope and grow into her role as the Shield. They help to ground her and to give her guidance, but they also provide her with a way to just relax and have fun.

This book is really building up to the Crown Prince coming into his evil era. I felt such a sense of tension and worry for Zaydah and Aris to get ready for the battle that they will have at home. As well as the dread of what is going on with Brev and his father and their faction of evildoers. Fighting a war on two fronts is about to get real in the next book and I am HERE FOR IT!!!!

What an excellent next book in the series! Zaydah wakes from her kidnapping in a strange location, with people she recognizes but for reasons she doesn't fully understand. The time she is given is precious, but her return to society comes with an entrance. Not only has her prince, Aris, been missing her and on the warpath, but so has her dragon Valentius. The bond that the 3 of them and Aris' dragon Avenaria forge here in this book are nothing short of ground breaking. The battles they fight and the truths they learn will change the future.

The authors storytelling and ability to weave some intricate story webs is just phenomenal. I loved the new and deeper bonds that were forged in this book, I know it will have lasting effect in the next books. Zaydah has really grown and I hope she is able to take more control of her actions and her choices in the next books, but she has grown so much already. I also loved seeing Group 14, those brothers to her and haven't changed with her new title. Ella and her breadcrumbs from book to book is something to be marveled at, as I began connecting some of the dots from the previous books. I just love the storytelling!

This is the best installment yet!!! If you haven’t, go read the first two books and then come back for my review!!!

Where the other books dove into the world and the creature dynamics, battles and personal restraints, this book gives us so much more. While we definitely have one of the most epic battles yet, we also get to explore the relationships between the main characters. We get more into the political maneuverings and hierarchy and the briefest of introductions to the magic system.

When it comes to the chemistry between Aris and Zaydah we get to experience the feelings development and admissions, we get to understand the hesitancies, and the yearning is chefs kiss!!! When I say I love a sloooooow burn, this is the kind of slow burn I mean.

Also, thank you so much Ella for only allowing Brev the smallest of small roles in this book, I was net yet recovered from his decisions and behaviors in book two.

I’m obsessed with this series and all the tropes:
🐉 Dragon Riders
⚔️ Epic Battles
Forced Proximity
Trauma Recovery
Magic
Strong FMC
Non-controlling MMC

This is easily one of my top series in the last 12 months.

Thank you for the author for an ARC of this book. This review is my true and honest opinion.

I have once more consumed a book in this series in one day. The book picks off on book 2 cliff hanger. We see a lot more of some of the side characters that were introduced in the previous book. I thoroughly enjoy how integral the relationships with everyone else are to this book and the story line. It is really refreshing to see a story where it’s not just about everyone revolving around the FMC. I think it is why I really enjoyed the role that Car plays in this book.

I’ve enjoyed reading this book because the FMC is relatable since book 1 and continuous to be so. For example, Zaydah’s reaction to the meeting/big revelation seemed over dramatic/overthinking but I know that is the exact reaction that I would have as well 😂 Her situation with Brev and the feelings she still deals with are common in survivors of individuals that have been with a narcissist or in a domestically abusive relationship. Seeing how she carries herself and reacts is what makes her a relatable character.

My reaction throughout the whole book: Aris the man that you are!

I received an arc copy of this book and this is a voluntary review. All thoughts are my own.

I want more! Every time I finish one of the books in this series I'm left wanting and needing to know more!

After the previous book cliffhanger the story took some turns that I was surely not expecting. How can I say things without giving some major spoilers? It's hard to describe what surprised me the most and how I liked it without ruining other's perspective if they haven't read it yet.
Well, be ready to be surprised!

We can see the closeness and link and relationship between Zaydah and Aris grow, as well as their feelings towards each other. But we can also see her fear of being bound only by duty when she also wants love. I think we can see more of Aris in this book and how he is way more into it all and ready for it than her.

We still have Valentius and their new group connection (wich I liked btw) and all those side characters we also love.
The intrigue and some mystery is still there, but this one also focus on them as individuals and as man and woman and how they learn to connect.
I was expecting another major cliffhanger, but it didn't come this time. But the ending did surprise me!

June won't come fast enough for the next one!

I am absolutely in love with the Dark Sky series by Ella Walker Henderson.

This series just keeps getting better and better. This book continues to deliver on that path of greatness. I think this is my favorite book in the series so far. I am still emotionally spirally from the ending of this book.

I love the occasional introduction of new characters. I enjoy seeing the author develop more depth from the main characters and the continuing build of their personalities and bonds.

There was so much action in this one and the story just grips you and makes you not want to put the book down and come up for air.

The slow burn continues to build and simmer almost to the point of pain. I love that it is not always the main focus and the humor that Valentius brings are some of my favorite parts. This book brings out all the emotions from laughter to stress to hope to finishing the book and wondering how to continue to function until the next book comes out.

I flew through this book (seriously read it in 72 hours- would have been even faster but alas had to work)

I'm anxiously looking forward to the next book in this series

Thank you to the author for the eARC!

I genuinely cannot believe the ratings this book has - but then, it goes to show that ARC readers cannot be trusted to give accurate reviews. The FMC is dumber than a box of rocks, has 0 survival skills, 0 common sense, a massively overinflated ego and a penchant for saying things and then being angry with people when they listen to her.

I mean she was dumb in book 1, dumber in book 2, but book 3 seals the deal for good. She spends way too much time whining over Aris and letting a plethora of random people walk all over her. She spends a solid chunk of opening barely even caring about the supposedly suoer strong bond she has with her creature, such a strong bond that she mentions him like twice and onky ever in an off hand "eh, he'll be here at some point" fashion.

Oh, and she also doesn't care at all that she was drugged for a week against her will, kidnapped against her will, forced under captivity to do the bidding of some weird af secret society, who held her mother hostage to force her hand even more. But naaawh, that doesn't matter to the heroine, because at least her assaulters and kidnappers were "gentlemanly". Ew.

Wow! Finished it in a day because I could NOT put it down!!!! True five ⭐️ read due to emotional depth with the characters and fast paced plot with tons of action! I think this is the n best one yet! FINALLY we get real emotional depth and relationship building between the FMC and MMC!!!! I loved it so much! Ugh, Z was a bit annoying in this one though with all her insecurities and spiraling despite our prince being pretty damn obvious in his devotion and willingness to treat her as a partner despite having the upper hand in the power dynamics. Ugh, this MAN was so patient with her. I giggled and swooned. Despite no spice, the yearning, tension, and slow build of trust and emotional connection was surprisingly all I needed because it was written that well. Brev is back later on in the book but we get a lot of clarity with this plot and I like the culmination the side characters’ roles in the plot development. That ending though! Ugh! This next book is going to be crazzzzy!

I really loved Wings of Darkness by Ella Walker Henderson. This series just keeps getting better and this might honestly be my favorite book so far.

There was so much great action in this one, and the story keeps expanding in ways that make it hard to put the book down. I also really loved getting to know Valentius better in this installment. His humor and personality added such a fun dynamic, and some of the banter had me laughing.

The slow burn continues to build perfectly, and I loved seeing more depth from the characters as the story moves forward. Between the action, humor, and character development, I ended up flying through this book.

If you’ve been enjoying this series, this book definitely delivers. I’m already looking forward to seeing what happens next.

I received this book as an ARC reader, and my review is an independent one.

Zaydah is forced to make the biggest decision of her life, but does not go into lightly, honestly becoming queen is not a decision to be made on a whim. She is smart and wants to make the best decision not only for her, prince Aris, but also for the kingdom.

The yearning between these two is so tense and it is frustrating at times I don't know how they can stand it. Their back an forth relationship had me kicking my feet at times.

The plot and character development in this series is great. The ending of this book had me screaming, I need to know more.

Ella has done it again. I could not put this book down. This book was a page turner for sure and I cannot wait until the next book is ready to be read.

I was so lucky to be an ARC reader again, and am absolutely loving this journey with Zaydah! This third book opens with Zaydah discovering the reason for her kidnapping, the reason of which was a surprising twist that I did not see coming. We got to know some of the characters more in this book and got to see relationships grow. I love that the author drops hints along the way, but does so in a way that keeps you guessing. This book keeps the slow burn going, but definitely has progressed along. I love getting to know Aris more and absolutely love Valentius and Zaydah's relationship. I can't wait to continue this journey and see where this adventure takes us! Ella is an amazing author and writes her stories well, with no spelling or grammatical errors, which I greatly appreciate.

Okay the twists and turns just keep coming. I feel like I tried to take my time with this one because I didn't want it to end knowing the 4th book doesn't come out until June. But I still went faster then I wanted, mostly because I was not ready to leave this world. One thing I'll definitely say is the follow-up to the Cliffhanger in book 2 was not what I was expecting and I also was not expecting the Cliffhanger that this book ended off on. Trying not to release too many details. In case you're interested in diving into this series. Would strongly recommend. Definitely great world building, and side characters that I've grown to love just as much as the main characters. This gives fourth wing meets The +unger Games vibes, and if strongly recommend reading this series.

Another fantastic book! This series just gets better and better. The book picks up right where book 2 left off and new information is given right away. I love the character development. I love how Aris and Zaydah's relationship develops thought-out the book, I will say I wish it wasn't as slow burn as it is, HOWEVER, the pace their relationship goes is needed and the whys are explained. With that said the tension is so good and the moments they do have/ their banter had me smirking with reading. Can't wait to see where book 4 will take us and how the characters will over come their new situations.

ARC Review

Everytime I jump back into this series with each new release, I am reminded just how much I love this series. Each book is better than the last and they’re all well-paced. I love seeing Zaydah navigate through her new role as Shield and her relationship with Aris. Everything changes, her role and rank within the Aeros, her relationships with her friends, even her relationship with Aurelia. I never thought I would love Aris or even the side characters as much as I do. Wings of Darkness took us on a wild ride of revealing more secrets about the kingdom and what those secrets mean for our main characters and just how deep do some alliances and betrayals go.

While it was great to see the story play out more. I think there were some parts that were definitely more drawn out than what it should have been. I think having the characters rehash their uncertainties about their feelings about each other. And how they think it would be perceived from their fellow. Soldiers was a bit much, especially when the story ends. How it does, hopefully in the next book we get to see more of the development between these 2 characters, just because the slow burn romance left a lot to be desired in this book. Overall, can't wait to read the next book. That comes out later this year.

The tension in this book is fantastic. The build up throughout was sitting me on the end of my seat I would have read this book all in one sitting if I didn’t have responsibilities. I cannot even voice how I felt at the cliffhanger, I had so much hope in the last several pages that maybe we would get there and the last paragraph took it all away so fast. Immediate shock and betrayal I felt from the author, now I have to wait very impatiently for the next installment.
I am so grateful to have gotten the advanced copy for the book from the author and can’t wait to one day have a paper copy to buy and add to my shelf.

ARC read : Spoilers

This book was a bit of a mixed bag for me. Despite this, I love the characters, world-building, and overall direction of the series. The cliffhangers have been great, and I'm hoping the next book delivers on the action, romance, and drama.
