Kale has never quite fit in with his own people. Born with an uncanny ability to sense things beyond the physical, the anxiety caused by that unbalanced power drives him to do odd things that interfere with his every day life. He becomes the unwitting, cosmic trail blazer sent on a journey for what? Not even he knows at first. Through various, comical and daunting scenarios, he has to survive such hazards as the feet of giant earthlings, the ineptitude of a mage with a short attention span, the fury of a female's wrath, a soul devouring parrot, and worst of all; crazy cat ladies.

One of those human hazards goes by the name of Amiah. While out at a LARP (Live Action Role Play) game, she comes across the lidra. She decides to capture them as nicely as she can so she can learn more about them. She has always wanted to be involved in something beyond the reality she has grown up in. While being a nanny for a couple of lively boys is a rewarding job, she's always had her head in the clouds, searching for the magical something beyond the mundane.

This gently humorous story about really little people is captivating on several levels. Kale, one of the really little people, has an anxiety disorder in a society that is surrounded by anxiety-provoking dangers. During a hunting trip, he runs into a brand new danger and ends up possessed by sparkles with an agenda, and they will do whatever they have to to Kale to make sure he fulfills it. Among the things they do is earn him exile, and that exile leads to many adventures.
I knocked a couple stars off the rating for this book for two reasons. One is my personal grumpiness about typos. They are not overwhelming, and I have a hunch most readers won't even notice the typos that aroused my ire, but they annoyed me. Two is one of the characters, a LARPer, who is charming, likable, and fun until she commits such a great evil that I was mentally spitting on her for the rest of the book. You could make the point that she goes on to make up for the evil by the many very good things she does. She also suffers some loss, but I did not see her repent of her evil anywhere. Still, at the end, she saves many lives.
The book has a satisfying ending with some wonderful thread wrap-ups. Oh, and the parrot is hilarious.
If you are the type of reader who thinks description gets in the way of the story, or if you demand adrenaline-fueled thrillers, this is not your book. If, on the other hand, you like immersing yourself in fantasy worlds and enjoy stories written in complete sentences, this sweet book might be what you need for a rainy afternoon. If you are the type of person who posts pictures of cute kitties and frantic squirrels on FaceBook, then odds are high that you will enjoy To Save Two Worlds. This book would make a great gift for the High School or Jr. High girl you know who spends boring time doodling fairies and kitties in her notebook.

I received a copy of this book as a winner of a drawing and after reading it purchased the Kindle version for my granddaughter. My heart went out to little Kale who struggled so hard with his obsessive-compulsive disorder as he embarked on the journey to save the planet Deart from falling into Earth and crushing it. The flawed characters added humor, but in a way which caused this reader to feel a strong sense of empathy for the bumbling, yet usually effective, struggles of several of the characters.

The book has sparkles (fairies) and mages to add both magic and hope as Kale unwittingly pulls the beautiful young Ti into an adventure she never signed on for. I enjoyed seeing myself as one of the dangerous and unpredictable humans these little people had to deal with in their quest to save both Deart and Earth from an evil force with the goal of destroying both worlds. How in the world can a creature only six inches tall find a way to face such a huge threat to the unknown country of America on the planet Earth?

This is a story of courage and undeniable faith that will keep you engaged with the diverse characters from beginning to end. (It will also prevent you from stopping at a junkyard after dark!)

Not recommended. Its sins: messy structure, distracting stuttering of the supposed male lead, no hint of the two worlds to save until too late into the book, redundant ideas. I'm not one who does not finish books but I checked the progress bar on my Kindle 10~20 times because I was upset the book hadn't ended.

Enjoyed the romp through fantasy and reality. The character's humor kept me going. It was worth reading all the way through. Slow at first, but picked up at the end.
