Wasted potential

This book had so much potential that I feel like it didn't really live up to it, and that disappointed me a bit. The book has such a good premise, but we never get to see the chemistry with Bleu and Truly beyond sex. The interactions they do have are steeped in sexual chemistry even when they are supposed to be getting to know each other beyond intimacy. Also, the plot points of the book with Truly's baby daddy and Bleu's family are pushed aside in favor of erotica and rushed at the end.

It’s not a bad story but some serious stuff was glazed over BAAAAD the child abuse storyline went no where, the sister beef ain’t really go no where. Dreu and Bleu’s beef was also included and wrapped up kinda easily. I feel like this one had less spelling and grammar issues. Overall idk a lot was missing from this story to the point that I was rushing to the end. I enjoy this authors work for the most part but sometimes it feels like tropes and situations getting tossed in to help the word count vs moving the story.

4🌟 Every woman deserves her Bleu!

So this is a new author to me, and I had no idea what to expect from this book. All I heard was Bleu is that man. I can now confirm Bleu is indeed the man! Our heroine Truly is in a hard place, still living with her parents, animosity from her older sister Calissa, and a baby daddy who is the absolute worst. Truly is in desperate need of a win, and that comes with her chance encounter with Bleu at her father's gala. Now, who Bleu was there to meet and the circumstances/pressures from his family, I won't spoil here, but know that Bleu is also at a crossroads in his life when he meets Truly. Bleu’s character was sooo in control and just all man! He didn't care about the issue; he was going to solve it. Known for being blunt, it was nice to see the difference in how he treated Truly compared to how he treated every other woman in this book. There were some funny moments in this book. Two of the funniest moments for me were Bleu and Dreu (his brother) in the car at Aubry’s house, and Bleu’s inner thoughts on hygiene, lol. Overall, I enjoyed this story, and I love a romance where the man sees what he wants and goes after it! I love the plus-size representation of the heroine, too! Slight trigger warnings: child abuse (injuries described on page), manipulation/coercion (ex/ baby dad).

This book took way too long to get to where it was going and then it ended quickly. There was so much potential in the story but it fell short. What really got me, and i know is more common than not, is the writing how you talk. I can see the dialogue being what it is because people talk how they talk, but it was in the narration where there was no dialogue and it made the story hard to read. In addition to that, there were fragmented sentences, punctuation in the wrong place, and sooooooo many wrong words were used, which also made it difficult to read. For instance, persecuted instead of prosecuted, feigning instead of fiending, moaned in union instead of unison, torcher instead of torture. These may seem like little things, but there were so many, it disrupted the flow of reading and made the book hard to enjoy

This is one of the books that I find a lot of people enjoyed, but I just couldn’t get with it. Both MCs frustrated me to no end. The FMC, Truly, actually believed that her subpar attempts made her a good mother. She was a lackluster mom that was coasting off her parent’s wealth to fund her lifestyle. From what I remember, it was mentioned that her father built her a salon in his garage so she could do hair and nails without paying booth rent. But it was also mentioned that she didn’t like to stand for long periods of time, so she didn’t work regularly to bring in any real income. All she wanted to do was collect hobbies but not put in any effort to support herself and get her daughter back. She lived at home with her parents, she didn’t work, didn’t want to work, and didn’t give any pushback to her baby daddy for keeping her daughter from her. She continuously let him forcefully coerce sex out of her in exchange for visitation with her daughter…and he didn’t always come through with visitation. Make no mistake, she was a victim in that situation; however, she was a willing victim. Her father was a criminal attorney and her mother was a surgeon. Not only did they have the money to rectify the visitation situation…HER FATHER WAS AN ATTORNEY!! And he had several affluent clients on retainer, so I would assume he was great at his job. Although she personally didn’t have any motivation or drive, her parents had access to resources that could have gotten her daughter back. Instead of utilizing those resources, she chose to exchange sex for inconsistent visitation and complain about missing her daughter. She wasn’t even trying. At the age of 25 with a child, she was beyond the stage of getting to leisurely find herself with no actual ambition. Truly needed to put on her big girl pants and do what was necessary to get her kid back instead of waiting for someone to come along and do the hard work for her.

I also didn’t care for Bleu. His use of his job to find sexual partners was cringe. The way he talked to women wasn’t appealing to me. There are definitely some rude MMCs that I find appealing, but Bleu just had me side-eyeing hard. The way he cornered Truly in the bathroom and offered her money wasn’t attractive. His approach was strictly transactional. He treated her like a straight 304- he put out the price he was willing to pay and collected his service. There wasn’t any cute connection with them prior to. The way he generally moved throughout the book kind of rubbed me the wrong way. His money is what made him appealing, but that’s where it stopped. The only chemistry he had with Truly was sexual. And for him to have such supposedly high standards, his choice of partner was someone who had no job, no drive, no goals, and barely made effort, outside of lip service, to get her daughter back.

For me, neither character showed any development from the beginning to the end of the book. However, just because the book wasn’t necessarily my cup of tea doesn’t mean it won’t be a great read for someone else.

Decent Read

This was an okay book. My issue is that I didn’t necessarily feel the connection between to the two MCs beyond sex. They had one date where that was little to no conversation. And any of other the dialogue they had we were simply told about or it was surrounded around sex. Literally we got so much detailed sex but so little dialogue between the 2 MCs. Nothing especially why he went out and got her a car and house after a week or two. What made her different from the other women he tricked on because he clearly had no problem spending his money on women. Idk if this a romance or an erotica. Just felt like something was missing. And I was waiting to see what they had beyond good sex.
Anyway there were a few errors but it was ok book. If you’re into erotica.

Beautiful quick read. I did however feel like it had potential to be longer . I wanted to experience her meeting his family and also them reaching the stage where they live together and get married, maybe another kid.

OMG. Let me start by saying NO one writes romance like a Black author…it’s truly a different level.
I devoured Bleu by Masterpiece in one sitting because Bleu and Truly’s story had me absolutely giddy from beginning to end. Bleu is SOO dope, the chemistry is 🔥, and the way their connection builds is just pure magic!
What really pulled me in was Truly’s journey. After everything she went through, not feeling like she was enough for LoLo, the lack of support from her mom, trying not to lean too hard on her dad, and dealing with that hating older sister.. seeing her finally get her “ever after” felt so well-deserved.
My girl earned that happiness!
This story was hot, heartfelt, captivating, and honestly everything I wanted. WOO!
If you love Black romance done RIGHT, this is the one.

I think the best part of this book was seeing Bleu solve Truly’s problems without her having to ask & doing things to make her life easier and pour into her dreams. Reinforcing the idea that there’s someone out there willing to give you the soft life you deserve. Other than that I think I was good on this story. I initially didn’t care for how Bleu presented. His arrogance was off putting to me. And I didn’t care for Truly as a FMC. I feel like she needed to grow up. She seemed aimless and didn’t really have that mama bear hustle that I like to see from my FMCs with kids. She appeared to be a passive participant in her life and put up with a lot from her BD and her sister.

I think her and Bleu had good sexual chemistry but I would have liked to see more of their connection build outside of the bedroom. The author mentions they had conversations and spent time but I would have loved some dialogue to show this emotional intimacy being built. I also didn’t like the ending. It felt like the story just stopped. I would have loved to see if his parents did accept her. Did they get married. Did she grow up and figure out a way to make money consistently or did she just become a kept woman?

My biggest critique is that there were sooo many misused words and some editing snafus that honestly took me out of the story because it’s so noticeable (the wrong use of you’re/your, head over hills, go out on a whelm, torcher not torture, shutter vs shuddered, and more). Plus a random continuity error regarding something the FMC did do to the MMC earlier in the book. But towards the end she says it’s her first time. Ma’am we were there! Lol. It might not matter to some people but to me it almost made me DNF.

This was my first read by this author. So I’d have to read something else to determine if her style is for me or not.

This was such a good read. I enjoyed the laughs. I love Truly’s journey to loving herself and allowing herself to be loved. Dreu has no sense, and Bleu is nasty as hell!!! $5000 sir!!!

2.5/5 I really like the cover and the plot. The FMC Truly was my least favorite character because she could do better as a mom. Her parents really supported her and she was not trying to really better herself until she got with Bleu. Her baby daddy was wrong for everything he did to her including the drugging her. The fact that she allowed her child to see him after she was drugged and when she found out about the stepmom physical abuse really made me dislike her more.. I usually give the FMC grace but not her….Bleu sleeping with the models at the interviews really had me side eying him. The star of the book is Lolo for making him eat the cookies.

Bleu

Nothing like being lives the right way and by the right person. I enjoyed Bleu and Truly. From the beginning there was a connection before they both knew each other. Truly had to go through so much with her wack a@$ babydaddy. Bleu made my chest lighten when he handled the sorry babydaddy. My Hero

Poor ending

I disliked the ending also how the author kept repeating the same thing over and she could have explored the relationship between the older sister and the middle sister

Could have been better, the story wasn’t fleshed out beyond the erotica and it was riddled with so many spelling errors that I had to DNF. Please work on the grammar and editing

Powerful!!

This is definitely an erotica but a realistic erotica. Blue is a strong and powerful personality with confidence in who he is, what he has to offer both personal and business, and most definitely what he wants and who he wants in his life. He’s very direct and sometimes blunt. Not unhinged, just purposeful and a man of actions beyond words. A very sexual man and now he has someone who matches his drive and ignites his heart to not being able to live without her or be apart for too long.
Truly is a beautiful soul and very good mother to her daughter. Unfortunately, she’s not treated the best by her mother and ex and daughter’s father. She’s beautiful and has always tried to find her niche but she’s good at several. One encounter where Bleu was supposed to be introduced to her older sister, fate lead him to his destiny in Truly and he has no plans to let her go. Every desire Truly has expressed in their conversations, Bleu made reality with plans to continue building for them as one. Loved everything about this couple and introduction to Dreu.

This was quite the read

I just love a fast paced book. When I tell you Mz. Author ma'am right everyone deserves a damn Bleu in they life...that man was obsessed in the best way possible with Truly. She was so uplifting, wanted to damn near be in her skin 24/7 and I loved that for her. My girl could not catch a break from her trifling baby daddy, to her bitch ass bougie sister, and nagging mama. She really just needed someone who understood her for who she was and believed in her...in walks this man exuding big BDE who wants to eat her off the bone...I mean he broke That kitty down like a fraction. I loved how he stood up to his parents and took control of what he wanted and not what they wanted for him. His ppl are Hella dysfunctional. I am def interested in getting Dreu story cause I feel a 2nd chance romance happening...my guy tore up behind his 🥞(iykyk😅)

Honestly I def wanted more that is the only thing I wish for, like I got unanswered questions bout ppl, but other than that...relationship A1💜

Bleu = BDE

For starters… I can’t stand Calissa! She a hater. Mad because baby sister be pulling them. Every man she wants prefers her younger, thick sister. Bleu said he’ll help make her some money, but he doesn’t want her lol. He fell for Truly with the quickness! Made sure her and Princess were straight. Even handle Aubry! I love the type of man Bleu is! Played no games and was well paid!!! I want to see Dreu get his woman back. That boy is a trip lol, but I like that lil YN! I love how Truly’s dad and lil sister always supported her! Her mother did too, but she was tired of all the dreams Truly had. I really think mama was ready for all the girls to leave the nest!

She Deserved That Happiness

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars

Quick and to the point — this book ATE.
The spice was hittin’, the story flowed, and Bleu stood on BUSINESS the whole time.

And Truly? Babyyyy she went through hell and still stayed a good woman, so watching her finally get loved the way she deserved felt GOOD 😭💖
As for her sister… chile. Truly already whooped her ass, but she one of them folks that STILL try you anyway 😂

Easy 5 stars.

love this book down

Read it twice. I love how his spirit recognized hers when they first met and he did not play about his Truly. This was such a wonderful love story to read of imperfect characters coming together to make a perfect love. Loved it!

A wonderful story, strong, but unfortunately that ending…phew 🤬

Why did it have all of the feel and the perfect story of big girl meet bad boy that fell in love but that ending literally killed the whole plot and vibe that was going on with these two. This was truly an unfinished story and it killed me to have spent my time thinking I was taking my time to enjoy this beautiful story and hear the epilogue and maybe other characters but nothing and that I do not like when author will do this…. There was no finale!!!!

i really did like the book but it was too much left unsaid and undone.

i really enjoyed this book but it seemed so unfinished. their story had so much to it but we don’t get to read about it.

we know nothing about what direction truly decided to go as far as her “career”. their wedding. tru relationship with her older sister. if they eventually have kids. how princess will take to bleu being around more often and eventually moving in together. we never got to see tru meet his brother and parents. like helllooooo???? there was so much more that we needed but didn’t get.
