With the Fates no longer meddling, Phenice breaks free from purgatory and hurtles back into the mortal realm while Emil battles a taunting chaos deity entangled within his soul. Burdened by the fallout of their destinies, these two reluctant chosen ones, now vampiric deities, struggle with the clash between fate and freewill. With new and unpredictable divine powers awakened, they crave nothing more than the sanctity of their soulmate bond even as unknown forces work to tear them apart.
Possessing the power to resurrect the dead and grant immortality, Phenice and Emil attract the attention of the Vampire Queen and Lecter. Hellbent on destroying the mortal world and the cosmos in the name of vengeance, the Queen wages war against them and the vampire caste.
As a battle looms on the horizon, their divine responsibility consumes them leaving the world in peril. Will Phenice embrace her goddess powers, tame the rage within, and conquer the fears torturing her heart? Will Emil be able to tame his chaotic darkness and find acceptance… or will he unleash it upon the world?
Maddie Rose Andry is a survivor who has blossomed into a thriver. She’s a person with a tragic backstory, like most fairy tales, and she has risen above it to realize her dreams.
She has been in the medical world for two decades helping others do exactly the same thing. She writes Gothic Romance because it’s in her heart to write stories about the ‘darker’ emotions and how love, in all its forms, is the light to help us through the darkest days.
Through her fiction, Maddie encourages readers to connect with themselves as they embark on otherworldly journeys that reflect real-life traumas, obstacles, and explore how to overcome, heal, and thrive.
I don’t even know how to be normal about this book.
Divine Inception is easily my favorite book in the series so far, and I already loved these books. Maddie Rose Andry absolutely outdid herself with this installment. The emotional depth, the character work, the escalation of the stakes, the way everything feels heavier, darker, and more powerful… this book consumed me.
Phenice and Emil’s journey in this one is intense, heartbreaking, healing, and completely addictive. Their bond spans lifetimes, trauma, love, and power, and watching them navigate who they’re becoming together and individually had me in my feelings the entire time. Their connection is soul-deep. The kind of love that survives death, rebirth, and the weight of destiny itself. I didn’t think their relationship could grow more than it already had, and I was very wrong.
The world-building continues to blow me away. The mythology, the divine elements, the vampires, the magic, the shifting power dynamics it all feels rich, layered, and purposeful. Every revelation hit like a punch to the chest, every vision and flashback added new depth, and every step forward felt like it was pulling us closer to something massive and inevitable.
And the found family in this series? Truly unmatched. The loyalty, the pain they’ve endured, the way they choose each other again and again… this cast owns my whole heart. The love is fierce. The protection is feral. The bonds feel unbreakable.
This book delivered epic world-building, high emotional stakes, intense battles, devastating choices, and a romance that feels timeless and unkillable. If you love dark gothic romantasy with powerful magic, gods and monsters, found family, and a love that would burn the world down if it had to then please start this series.
Thanks to The Nerd Fam for providing the eARC. This is my honest opinion.
Bound by Blood and Destiny
The third installment in the world of An Opera of Cursed and Fated Vampires raises the stakes, deepens the emotional wounds, and explores just how fragile the line is between destiny and free will. Maddie Rose Andry once again immerses the reader in a universe where blood, power, and love are inseparably entwined.
Where the earlier books laid the foundation, this story feels like an eruption of consequences. The characters are forced to confront the shadows of their own choices. Loyalties shift, trust fractures, and fate proves to be both relentless and unforgiving. It is this inner turmoil that forms the beating heart of the novel. No one emerges untouched, neither emotionally nor physically.
The structure is carefully crafted. Short, powerful chapters create an almost addictive pacing, while the balance between action and introspection allows the emotional weight to fully resonate. The world feels rich and layered. Political tensions within the vampire realm, hidden agendas, and simmering rivalries maintain a constant undercurrent of suspense.
The romantic arc is intense and charged. The chemistry between the characters ignites the pages, yet it never feels superficial. Love is not portrayed as a safe refuge but as a dangerous risk. That tension makes every touch, every glance, and every decision carry greater meaning. The spice is undeniably present and bold, yet it remains intertwined with genuine emotional depth.
Andry’s writing style is vivid and dramatic without becoming overwhelming. She has a strong sense of atmosphere, allowing scenes to unfold with cinematic clarity. The dialogue is sharp, occasionally cutting, and enhances the psychological tension throughout. At times, certain confrontations could have been given a little more space to fully breathe, but this does not diminish the overall impact of the story.
‘Divine Inception’ is an intense, dark, and gripping continuation that elevates the series to a new level. For readers who love vampire romantasy filled with intrigue, destiny, and dangerous love, this installment is a compelling and worthy read.

*I received this as an early review copy from Iris Influencer Society. These opinions are my own*
This installment is so much more than anything I could have hoped for! MRA, what have you done to me? I yearn for more of these amazing characters!
The emotions, the depth of then, the way you are forced to feel every single emotion they feel. It is powerful! The world building in this series is PHENOMENAL! The different magical aspects from vampires, divine elements (the fates), mythology and just magic is amazing. All of this, layered in a way that flows flawlessly and just works without taking from the other, is amazing. I am blown away. I can't get over the vastness of this world and the elements in it.
The story was amazing and the characters are unforgettable.
I will do a more in depth review later, but I definitely need to sit with my thoughts for a while.
I wasn’t expecting this dark fantasy to hit this hard!
Fated Mates/Star-Crossed Lovers | Spicy Slow Burn | Epic World Building | Mythology-inspired | Fantasy Traumance/Tortured Soul
This is daaaaarrrk!!! But so emotionally damaging good! Be warned! World building is incredible, every character plays a critical part and is well developed.
I was biting my bottom lip in anticipation of the changes Phenice had gone through and the incredible anguish of transformation.
The opening immediately hooked me with the dark details of Phenice’s flesh undergoing radical changes and her fragile mental state on enduring such pain.
Here we see the continuation of Phenice wanting to get back to Emil but she is worlds apart from him and unsure of where she even is. So how does she get back to him? All the while, things are in chaos and Phenice is undergoing a soul flight and flesh regeneration (sounds confusing but Andry does an incredible job in taking us for a ride through this shift).
So many things are standing in the way for Phenice and Emil to reunite. Where they each are, are they alive, and if they are reunited, will their love be rekindled or redirected?
Phenice’s and Emil’s flaws are so good. Phenice’s trauma and survival leak through her transformation, keeping her trapped in second-guessing trusting those around her. Emil is so drunkenly obsessed with Phenice in a soulmate-kind-of-way that it blinds him from the bigger picture.
The pull between Phenice and Emil is quite intriguing due to being worlds apart at times but with their unrelenting thoughts on how much they care for one another and what they would do to be together.
Andry does an excellent job in continuing the soulmate bond and pull between Phenice and Emil through their emotional instability. It reminds me of young love, like high school love. Obsessive, falling hard and fast, but unforgettably consuming.
The scene that hit the hardest was learning about Aiden’s origin. It broke my heart thinking of the catastrophe that has created the angel and demon that Aiden has been. The detail to the environment and support characters in just one chapter left a greater mark on me than that of several chapters developing the main characters. This is just a great display of Andry’s writing capabilities.
The pacing of this book was smooth. Medium-paced overall, dialogue and development with peaks of action to drive the story forward, and the tone continues to carry out the dark elements of love, survival, and past traumas.
“Why did I choose the vengeance for the dead over the love of the living? That’s the question haunting me now that I’m alive again.”
“The broken boy proclaimed his love for his mother. Then silently turned to run for the sea with the echo of her wailing that she loved him more than her own life.”
This is easily my favorite of the series so far and after that chaotic ending I cannot wait to see where the other takes the next books and story!
You pickup right where the first two left off, with Phen having been reborn as a goddess after her death as a vampire, and her soulmate having also been changed into a god as well. They must now start to work together with some unlikely allies and new characters to take down the queen and stop the evil and corruption and unbalance she is bringing to their world.
This book was full of passion and a bit of chaos and lots of emotional turmoil for many of the characters. I really enjoyed the multiple POVs and getting to watch each character deal with the storyline in their own mind. I also loved the sassy new mental friend our MMC has to deal with, this chaos is easily becoming one of my favorites. While there were of course some shocks and emotional highs and lows, that ending really got me the most and I have no idea what will be next for our main pair. I also hope the next books explore some of the budding relationships between other characters and still follow their storylines after that twist ending! Overall my rating 4.5/5!
Thanks to the author for the gifted copy, all opinions given are my own!
An intense emotional journey that will leave you gobsmacked!
Phenice and Emil’s story continues to be heartbreaking, healing and with this overall consuming experience of love and compassion for one another. These two are truly ride or die for each other. Their connection on a soul-deep level had me obsessed with their overall need to consume one another.
I felt like I was more entranced Emil’s story because of his deep desire to be entangled in Phenices world, being, soul… literally her everything. He truly breaks my heart. And him getting mad at his other half for her self sacrifice, something she has always done in every lifetime, because every time she sacrifices herself to save the world, she leaves him behind. He has finally put his foot down, threatened to destroy the world if she leaves him in this world alone… oh our sweet Emil. Sometimes the MMC POV just hits harder.
Along with the romance in this series, the theme of found family is almost unmatched. I have almost emotionally attached myself to each character at this point. So needless to say there are high stakes throughout the story, and it doesn’t let up. The major cliffhanger at the end, was so good, but I need the next book expeditiously!
In this third book, the story pushes beyond transformation and fate into divine conflict and mythic consequence. This story just felt BIGGER - and included cosmic forces and power ascension, while keeping the emotional core of Phenice and Emil’s bond intact. I loved the worldbuilding in this one and it might have been my favorite!
✨Verdict: An epic continuation that raises the stakes and redefines the characters’ roles in the series’ larger supernatural tapestry.
woah!!!!! this story is awesome. really masterful work. the nerd family gave me an arc for this anf I thought it was well plotted, driven, and keeps you on your toes. this book is awesome! I mean how do you keep the sanity of dealing with forces that were meant to help but end up being so medlesome. the pain and the emotions the characters feel is so visceral its good. highly recocmend reading this!
Wow, the world building for this series is absolutely awesome!
I was lucky enough to get the omnibus with this ARC, and I flew through these books! Emotional, action packed, and filled with vampires, shifters and demons. What more could you ask for.

This is the 3rd book in the Cursed and Fated Vampires series. Personally I think this is the best one yet!! So much emotion. It’s devastating yet beautiful! Some twists I didn’t expect! The world building continues to be phenomenal. The magic Is unique, and I absolutely love the found family in this story. Maddie has a way of completely wrecking the reader in all the best ways so be prepared!
OMFG LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THIS IS MY FAV BOOK OUT OF ALL MADDIE’S GLORIOUS STORIES!!
She upped the stakes so hard in this book! The banter, the anger, chaos, trauma and the freaking love!? So well put together and just beautifully done.
Phenice and Emil are figuring out who they are becoming and making their own choices without the fates. Some POV’s added so much more depth to the storyline which was spectacular. The decisions, the flashbacks and visions straight up had me spinnnnning!!! And their power!? Especially used during yummy fun times!? Holy hot!
Phenice and Emil’s story completely swept me away. It’s layered, emotional, and beautifully written, balancing heartbreak with resilience in a way that feels both raw and hopeful. Emil is tender and unforgettable, and Phenice’s strength radiates off the page. I loved each of the characters for different reasons, and their journey was worth reading. This story truly left its mark on me.
“I’ve been at war since the day I was born. The only shift over the years was the loss of my ignorance with each death."
A lush adventure of epic porportions awaits!
It's been so hard pulling me out of the reading slump that this series has left me in. I can't remembered the last time a binged a series this amazing!
Fates, Vampires, and a world of delicious horror.
Buckle up, because the nightmares have just begun and each book keeps getting better and better!
If you’ve started this series, you know that Maddie Rose Andry does a PHENOMENAL job with her world-building and immersing you into a story in which you feel everything alongside the characters…but this?! THIS. BOOK. Maddie EPICALLY upped the stakes. Not only are we picking up seamlessly where the first two books left off, trying to reassemble the pieces after events that would have broken many, but we also are forging a path in which Phenice and Emil have the power to make their own choices without the meddling Fates; something that has never happened in any of their lifetimes. Phenice and Emil are navigating who they’ve become while forces outside of their control are trying to tear them apart, but this caste is made up of fierce warriors and survivors – survivors who know that their world is on the precipice of change…change where the fate of the world is at stake.

For many, death is the end. But for Phenice? Death was only another beginning. Breaking free from Purgatory, she careens back into the mortal realm, only to find that while she was gone, Emil has been battling a taunting chaos deity intertwined within his soul.
Phenice and Emil feel unprepared for the burden of their destinies that are no longer influenced by the meddling Fates. Reluctant to assume their new roles as vampiric deities, Phenice and Emil struggle with being in charge of fate and free will for the first time in their existence. With their new divine powers being awakened, and no manual for controlling their unpredictability, Phenice and Emil crave the solace of their bond while outside forces seem to want to tear them apart.
And with new power, comes unwanted attention. The Vampire Queen and her loyal companion, Lecter, are feeling the effects of Phenice’s ability to resurrect the dead and grant immortality, and they want nothing more than to destroy the entire cosmos. A war is coming, and the Vampire Queen is leading the charge…
Will Phenice and Emil be able to own their divine responsibility and heal their hearts, or will their powers consume them and be unleashed on the world?
Holy. Smokes. This is my favorite book in the series to date! Getting both Phenice and Emil’s POV, and some surprise POVs (I can’t tell you who without spoilers hehe), added so much depth to the storyline – I was reeling left and right from every flashback, vision, and decision that propelled us towards battle with the Queen and Lecter. The layered details we get in revealing both Phenice and Emil’s powers, how those powers impact not only themselves, but can trigger a chain of events, is wild! And those powers? Let’s just say, while they can be used as defense, they can also be used for some magical spicy times that will leave you fanning your face 🔥🔥🔥 (balance, am I right?) The love between Emil and Phenice is one for the ages (literally, since it spans so many lifetimes) and I didn’t think their bond could grow more than it already had, but I was wrong, and watching that love expand was beautiful among the chaos. And speaking of chaos…I hope you love Chaos as much as I do 😉
The found family here? One of my favorite found families I have ever read. When I think of found family, this caste always comes to mind. The amount of pain each caste member has experienced in each of their lifetimes will break your heart many times over, but the way in which they have come together, the love they have for one another and how fiercely they protect and care for each other? Those qualities are unmatched. Aiden, Dante, Avery, Amora, and Eden are characters we get to know better in this installment, and the way that this caste chooses one another and how deep their love runs is STRONG – not even death can break their ties. This type of found family sets the bar so dang high because they are willing to risk their lives to protect everyone they hold dear.
If you are looking for a series with epic world-building, high stakes, intense battles, unique magics, and characters who love fiercely and are willing to risk it all for the good of the world, then start this series! I cannot recommend this series enough for dark gothic romantasy readers!
Divine Inception is easily my favourite book in the series so far, and that’s saying something because I already loved the previous ones. Maddie Rose Andry really outdid herself with this installment. Everything about it feels bigger, heavier, darker, and more powerful, and it completely pulled me in from start to finish. Phenice and Emil’s journey in this book is intense in a way that’s hard to look away from. It’s heartbreaking, healing, complicated, and honestly addictive to watch unfold. Their bond stretches across lifetimes, through trauma, love, and power, and seeing them figure out who they are becoming both together and as individuals had me fully in my feelings the whole time. Their connection feels soul deep, like the kind of love that survives death, rebirth, and the weight of destiny itself, and just when I thought their relationship had already grown as much as it could, this book proved me completely wrong. The world building continues to be one of the strongest parts of the series too. The mythology, the divine elements, the vampires, the magic, the shifting power and politics all of it feels layered and intentional, like every piece matters. Every revelation lands with impact, every vision or flashback adds another layer to the story, and with each chapter it feels like everything is moving toward something massive and unavoidable. Where the earlier books laid the groundwork, this one feels like the point where all the consequences start crashing down. Characters are forced to face the weight of their own decisions, loyalties begin to shift, trust starts to fracture, and fate proves to be relentless. No one walks away from it unchanged, emotionally or physically. The pacing keeps everything moving quickly too, with shorter chapters that make it very easy to keep saying just one more chapter, while still giving space for the emotional moments to really land. Between the action, the tension in the vampire world, the hidden agendas, and the quiet moments of reflection, there’s this constant undercurrent of suspense that keeps the whole story feeling alive and impossible to put down.
I received this ARC from Nerd Fam as an Omnibus for the Cursed and Fated Vampire series, including all three books in this series: Mortal End, Chaos Resurrected and Divine Inception (which is coming out on March 3rd). Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted eARC. This was my first time reading Maddie Rose Andry and I loved it! It won’t be my last. This was a series that built as it went. Just when I thought that the books couldn’t get any better, I picked up the next book and then the next book. I really don’t want to give too much away from this book because I really want you all to read it without spoilers so here’s the jest of what to expect from the Omnibus.
This entire series is beautifully written. The world building just builds on itself throughout the series. Just when you think you can be wrecked anymore, you totally are. The divine elements, the magic, the mythology all seem to work so seamlessly to make these series one of the best vampire/shifter/paranormal romances I think I’ve ever read.
This is a high stakes emotional ride, with the most romantic story that plays a massive part of the story but isn’t all of the story. You will fall in love with Phenice and Emil and the found family that all play an epic part of the story. These are characters that I won’t soon forget. The bonds forged in this book are beautiful and that’s why this series has stolen my heart.
If you like the following, this book is for you:

Rate: 4.5/5⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️.5 (FULL SERIES RATING) Spice: 3/5🌶️🌶️🌶️
In Divine Inception, Maddie Rose Andry delivers a significant step up for the series, offering a narrative that feels more polished than its predecessors. The most striking element is the world-building; Andry expands the landscape with a level of detail that feels both expansive and intentionally lived-in. The lore surrounding the divine hierarchy is deepened here, creating an atmosphere where the stakes feel tangible and the history feels heavy.
The real triumph of this book is the character work. While previous entries struggled with consistent emotional connection (for me), the arcs here are focused and emotionally resonant. The protagonist has shed her earlier passivity, emerging as a proactive leader who grapples with her choices in an authentic way. It is clear that Andry has hit her stride, as the dialogue feels sharper and the emotional beats land with far more precision.
The book isn't without minor hurdles; the middle section occasionally slows down due to dense descriptions, and some secondary conflicts feel rushed compared to the central romance. However, these are small gripes in a strong continuation of the saga that successfully bridges the gaps of previous installments.
☕ Final Verdict This is a strong, readable sequel. While the improved protagonist and immersive world are highlights, I continued to truly enjoy the secondary characters the most. The addition of their POVs added a significant amount of depth for me as a reader and expanded the world in a way that made the story feel much more complete. It is a great pick for fans looking for the series to truly take flight.
There is something almost cruel about the way Maddie Rose Andry writes love.
In Divine Inception, Phenice and Emil are no longer just star-crossed lovers. They are vampiric deities carrying the weight of fate, freewill, and the literal cosmos on their shoulders. And yet, for all the divine chaos, this story feels painfully human.
Maddie once again pulls on my heartstrings in the most deliberate way. The physical, mental, and emotional toll of being torn apart by forces beyond your control is absolutely crushing. The ache of wanting your soulmate while the universe conspires against you? She captures that devastation beautifully.
Phenice’s struggle with rage and responsibility feels raw. Emil’s battle with the darkness inside him is suffocating in the best way. Their power to resurrect, to grant immortality. It all means nothing if they lose each other.
That tension hums beneath every page.
Maddie writes love like it’s both salvation and destruction at the same time.
The third book which is due out in March, on March 3rd to be exact is called Divine Inception. This is the next book in the series and I am so excited to be able to read it ahead of publishing and tell y'all my thoughts, with no spoilers of course! This book picks up where the last two books left off with Phenice going through some deep internal thoughts and wondering what happened to her. She is brought back and now changed into a new being, more like Emil. That part of the story was graphic but so worth it! The author outdid herself again with all the descriptions in this book, the imagery is top notch in this series! I love the interactions between Custos and Emil, some of them made me laugh out loud. I love how Emil is still so protective of Phenice, and Phenice is still remembering what happened to Emil that changed their relationship in the last book. And now they are both so much alike. If I had experienced all that Phenice had as well, I can not say that I could blame her for all of her actions and behaviors in this book. And that ending makes you want to read more of the books as soon as you finish this book, I need to know what happens next! I thought the author did a great job with the new upcoming book in the series and I can not wait to see more of the story!
I did not know what to really think when going into these books, I had gotten all three together and read them back to back so this will be a review for all three. The first book had one of the best openings that I had read in a long time, it pulled you in right from the get go, and was absolutely amazing, then about a little more then half way through i felt like it hit a wall, it was less organized and a little everywhere, but I thorughly enjoyed the characters, the emotions felt raw and real, and it just made it all the better for me, there were some gruesome parts but i honestly felt like it showed you just how things actually where, the first book left me kind of confused but I jumped right in to book two and fell in love with this one, it flowed so much better all the way through and seeing things from a different point view was nice, book three was by far my favorite and flowed nicely as well, the emotions still felt raw and real and te characters were developed nicely, Overall this was an amazing read all together.. Where the first book fell a little flat for me the 2 and 3 made up for it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. "Thank you to The Nerd Fam for the gifted eARC. #cursedandfatedvampires #thenerdfam" it was truly an honor to have been able to read it!
OMG BESTIES… death isn’t the end... it’s just the beginning of absolute divine chaos.
Book 3, "Divine Inception", takes everything from the first two books and escalates it to a whole new level of dark, powerful intensity. Phenice breaking free from purgatory while Emil battles a literal chaos deity inside his soul? 👀 The angst. The tension. The emotional damage. IMMACULATE.
Their bond in this one feels heavier... lifetimes of trauma, love, rage, healing, and power colliding. Watching them wrestle with fate vs. freewill while stepping into their roles as vampiric deities had me completely locked in. It’s obsessive, protective, 'touch her/him & d!e' energy… but layered with growth and vulnerability that makes it hurt sooooo good.
And the world-building? The mythology, divine magic, vampire politics, shifting power dynamics — it’s rich, gothic, and purposeful. The stakes are massive, but this clearly isn’t the end. It feels like the calm before an even darker storm.
If you love dark gothic romantasy with gods, monsters, found family, and soul-deep fated mates… you NEED this series on your TBR. Seriously.😉
My Ratings: ⭐ 4.5/5 ▪︎ 🥵 3/5
🥀 For my rating scale breakdown, head over to my Goodreads &/or Amazon profile! 🖤
Yes Yes YES! Do I need to tell you all again how many highlights I made in the book….TO MANY…that’s how many. I could go on forever about this series so please just go read it. Phenic has ascended along with her soul mate. This poor girl had to go through excruciating pain repeatedly to get to where the fates saw her. Her trauma is at an all time high, and her human emotions are back trying to shield her from her pain, building walls up that she worked so hard to tear down. Emil, who had to witness the loss of his soul mate again, must navigate his own ascension, help Phenic heal (and himself) all while protecting what is his. From learning new godly powers to building a Vampire army, this third book has it all. We welcome new characters, find lost soulmates and prepare for war! The writing is seamless, vivid and magical. All emotions are in play while still being grounded, witty and real. I had to use my hand to cover the page so I wouldn’t read ahead. P.S Emil and his new “internal” partner Chaos give me total Venom vibes. The dialog is comical and dark. Highly Recommend !
If you love gothic romance wrapped in mythology and destiny, Cursed and Fated Vampires delivers exactly that.
This series feels epic in emotion but intimate in character focus. Phenice’s journey from mortal to vampire is not just about supernatural transformation — it’s about identity, trauma, memory, and rediscovering love that transcends time. When the perspective shifts in Chaos Resurrected, the emotional impact deepens in a way that makes the romance feel tragic, eternal, and almost mythic.
The world-building is layered with divine influence, curses, fate, and cosmic forces that shape every choice. It’s dramatic, intense, and unapologetically romantic.
This isn’t light paranormal fiction — it leans into passion, destiny, and emotional stakes. With Divine Inception coming soon, it feels like the series is building toward something even bigger.
Divine Inception had me completely hooked from the very first chapter. The world feels dark, emotional, and intense in the best way, and the characters are written with so much depth that I couldn’t help but get attached to them.
What stood out to me most was the way fate and choice are woven together throughout the story. The tension never really lets up, and every twist made me want to keep reading just one more chapter. The emotional stakes felt real, and I loved how the romance developed alongside all the danger and mythology.
The characters are flawed, loyal, and painfully human despite being supernatural, which made their struggles hit even harder. There were moments that genuinely surprised me, and others that made me pause just to sit with the emotions for a second.
If you enjoy dark fantasy with romance, powerful bonds, and a story that blends destiny with heartbreak and hope, this one is definitely worth picking up. I’m really excited to see where this series goes next.
Let me say up front, if you’re looking for a light romantasy read, this is not it. This gothic romantasy series features layered complex characters, hidden meaning on every page, epic world building, and the realities of the human psyche dealing with trauma, all centered around the most human quest for self acceptance—both the light and the darkness within all of us. It’s a piece of literary fiction that deftly blends the gothic, fantasy, romance and horror genres while intricately following the growth and healing of characters I love (well, most of them😉).
My Synopsis: Fated mates, Emil and Phenice, are finally free of the Fates’ control, but now they are left to figure out their new found powers, process the trauma and results of transformation, and guide their destiny on their own with no handbook in sight. Grounded in their soulmate bond, they desire each other more than ever, but ghosts of the past keep preventing the intimacy they crave. As the Queen’s power begins to wane pushing her further toward insanity, she learns that Phenice is alive, and is ready to end her and the caste of escaped vampires for good. Will the caste be able to overcome obstacles and defeat the Queen, or will they fall victim to her and Lecter’s evil intentions?
I don’t remember the last time I’ve been so fully invested in an entire caste of characters, but I can tell you Maddie’s writing has me deeply caring about each one of the caste and their found family. The writing brought out the gamut of my emotions from excitement to tears to ‘Oh, hell no, she didn’t just do that to us!’ The action is perfectly paced between moments of world building, character interactions and reflections, and spice—which once again, burns off the page.🪭
My favorite part of book III is the development of the cast of characters. My heart now breaks for Aidan, and I need him to find a mate. Avery’s story was as surprising as it was heartbreaking. I wanted to slap Dante (IYKYK) and loved learning more about the twins, Eden and Amora. Alina, as before, steals the show as Phenice’s sassy BFF who tells it like it is. Maddie, I need all of them to find their HEA! And the new character, Bratva Mafia Enforcer, Nikolai—well, let’s just say, “Holy Hotness! I need this man!” Needless to say, this series does not lack in sexy, morally grey MCs who you will want to add to your book boyfriend list ASAP.
I’m entirely addicted to this series, and love the way it makes me think deeply about trauma, recovery, the human condition and love in all its forms. Full Disclosure: I am Maddie’s PA, but this review she won’t see until you do, and I’m in no way obligated to post it. These are my honest thoughts and opinions of a beautiful series that made me want to work with her and fall in love with literature all over again. Please be sure to check CWs and fair warning, Maddie’s cliffhangers are brutal!
Thank you to @thenerdfam for the early release omnibus of this incredible trilogy by @authormaddieroseandry ! It’s truly one of the most unique storylines I’ve ever read.
This omnibus includes: •Mortal End, Book One •Chaos Resurrected, Book Two •Divine Inception, Book Three (releasing March 3rd)
Book one is from the FMC’s POV. Book two shares the same timeline as book one but from the MMC’s POV. The third book combines both POVs along with some surprise POVs.
A full review for each individual book is yet to come but I can honestly say if you’re looking for a unique, dark gothic/urban romantasy with a love that lasts through multiple lifetimes you’ll definitely enjoy this one. The world building alone was amazing. Their story is difficult to read at times. Both characters have been through so much! Be sure to check your triggers! This story will absolutely break your heart at times.
Divine Inception wrecked me in the best possible way!
This is easily my favorite book in the series so far. Everything is darker, heavier, and more powerful—the emotional depth, the character growth, the stakes. Phenice and Emil’s bond is soul-deep and devastatingly beautiful. A love that spans lifetimes, survives trauma, death, rebirth, and destiny itself. I didn’t think their relationship could get any stronger, but boy was I wrong! The world-building is rich and layered—gods, vampires, magic, divine mythology, and shifting power dynamics that feel intentional and intense. Every revelation hit hard, and every step forward felt inevitable. It truly is a one of a kind read. And the found family? Unmatched. Fierce love. Feral loyalty. Unbreakable bonds. Thank you Nerd Fam for the omnibus!
