Australian Cleo Montford has spent the last two years working as a guide and interpreter in Helsinki, cocooned from the lies and betrayals of her past, then Australian author Jack Spencer wants to hire her. Not for sightseeing, but to research the story her internationally awarded journalist father was investigating when he was accidentally killed. Cleo’s tempted. Is she brave enough to look the past in the eye and set herself free, or will she keep hiding?
Cleo was a confident adolescent who adored her father, until her mother explains after his death that he’d never loved Cleo. Cleo sees lies everywhere, but it’s time to take her life back. She accepts Jack’s job offer. She doesn’t expect to find his mix of intelligence, stubbornness and charm so compelling, doesn’t expect him to understand her dilemma hearing people talk about her father, doesn’t expect to want to touch him—all the time.
Battling writer’s block, Jack latches onto the old story of the long unsolved assassination of a Scandinavian PM as the basis for a thriller. Finding Hugo Montford’s daughter in Helsinki strikes him as a good omen. That’s before he discovers she has secrets making her doubt herself. She’s smart, loyal, gorgeous, everything he’s looking for in a woman, if only he can convince her to take a chance on him.
When people unhappy with the direction of his research threaten Cleo, Jack calls a halt. Sensing there’s more to learn about her father, Cleo pushes to continue. Can Cleo and Jack agree on next steps, or will Cleo remain shackled to her past?
Sometimes you have to let go of what’s killing you, even if it’s killing you to let go.
Fans of sensual romances with strong characters showing emotional depth plus some international intrigue will enjoy the twists and turns before Cleo and Jack find their happy ending. This best-selling author is known for her characters, clever dialogue and unique stories that will introduce you to new worlds.
Finding Cleo is a sensual romantic suspense that blends emotional vulnerability with international intrigue, and Jennifer Raines delivers a story that feels both intimate and tense. Cleo Montford has spent years hiding from the lies and betrayals that reshaped her life, and stepping into her past again is no small thing. That emotional weight sits at the heart of this book, giving it a steady, compelling pull.
Cleo’s journey is layered with grief, confusion, and the kind of self‑doubt that lingers long after the damage is done. Her father’s death shattered her world, and a revelation has left scars she still carries. Watching her decide whether to confront the truth or keep running gives the story its strongest emotional tones. She’s smart, capable, and deeply wounded—exactly the kind of heroine you want to see reclaim her voice.
Jack Spencer is a great counterbalance to her. Intelligent, stubborn, charming in that quietly persistent way, he’s battling his own creative block when he crosses paths with Cleo. What starts as research for a thriller quickly becomes something far more personal. Their chemistry is tender but undeniable, and the slow build of trust between them feels earned. He sees her strength even when she can’t, and that dynamic adds warmth to the tension simmering beneath the surface.
The suspense element unfolds gradually—threats, warnings, and the sense that someone doesn’t want the past uncovered. It’s not explosive, but it’s steady, atmospheric, and enough to keep you reading. The Helsinki setting adds a unique flavour, and the blend of personal stakes with political intrigue gives the story a broader scope.
Because this is a character‑driven tale, some readers may wish for a slightly sharper edge to the suspense, but the emotional depth more than makes up for it. Jennifer excels at writing strong, flawed characters who feel real, and her narrative has that natural, clever rhythm she’s known for.
If you enjoy sensual romance with emotional complexity, international settings, and characters learning to trust again, Finding Cleo is a satisfying, heartfelt tale.
Finding Cleo is an intriguing romantic suspense with tense moments, grief, drama, danger and chemistry. What can happen when you are still reeling from an "accidental" death of your own father and someone coming into your life that is intrigued of whom you truly are.
Cleo is currently working in Helsinki as a guide and interpreter and meeting Jack Spencer, the author, Cleo is on alert on what he wants with hiring her for assistance for research for his next book...but Jack knows who Cleo is and whom her father was. After a huge leap, Cleo agrees to work with Jack but as lines begin to blur....and the more that Cleo and Jack work together, will Cleo learn to gain her confidence and move forward...
Overall this is an enjoyed story and always look forward to more from this author.
Cleo Montford lives in the shadow of her late investigative journalist father’s fame. Her mother won’t believe his death was an accident. On top of that, she told Cleo her father never loved her. It’s little wonder she’s scarred emotionally and has trust issues.
Jack Spencer, novelist, has scars of his own. While his physical ones are visible, he still carries open emotional wounds. He’s researching the story surrounding the 1986 assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Palme for his next novel. The same story Cleo’s father was chasing before he was accidentally killed.
Jack hires Cleo as his interpreter but soon discovers a strong attraction to the woman who refuses to talk about her past. Cleo finds Jack is nothing like she thought and is strangely drawn to the charming man with a limp.
Finding Cleo is a romantic suspense set in Helsinki featuring two native Australians, well-grounded in the sexual attraction Cleo and Jack have.
Jennifer Raines has created two memorable characters. Both have doubts, flaws, and plenty of misgivings. As I learned about their past, I understood their bruises and wounds. In a very short time, she made me care deeply about both of them. I was fully invested in their lives.
Raines’ words came alive not only through the people who populated the book, but through the setting as well. Is there any better place than Helsinki for suspense and intrigue? I think not. I saw Helsinki through Jack’s eyes, catching every detail and filing away to ensure his novel has authenticity.
What makes this book even more alluring is that it’s based on a historical event. The assassination of the Swedish prime minister, that to this day has been unsolved, is the perfect catalyst for emotions, fears, and intrigue.
Add smart dialogue, compelling secondary characters, and irresistible sexual attraction, and you have an unputdownable novel.
This was a different read for me but what a love Cleo made from Australia to Helsinki !? Usually something drastic happens in one’s life to make such bold moves and that exactly what too her 😉
Cleo’s dad was a journalist and was “ accidentally “‘killed while investigating a story and then to top the heartache her mother reveals some heartbreaking truth which I felt she could’ve kept to herself but having said that it was what formed her into the woman she is now , to a degree ….
Jack Spencer , Australian author makes her an offer which she accepts and she was a little apprehensive which I totally get and she finds out quite a bit of her father when people speak of him and when Jack wants to the pull the plug she’s the one that wants to push through .
Jack and Cleo both have baggage and I don’t think either were ready for the attraction between them and as the story goes on you can’t help but care for them and all they’ve been through and what is to come for them
Helsinki has never been on my bucket list but I’d be lying if I say my interest hasn’t been piqued so I did a little reading and in 1986 minister Olaf Palme and his wife were heading home from watching a movie when he as shot in the back , at close range and his wife was also shot but she survived, the case was closed in 2020 because their main suspect died and there never was anything concrete to charge him with but what really blew my mind is that the conspiracy theory is that the South African government of the time was responsible ! I come from South Africa and that’s why it was a shocker to me ! Interesting reading though but frightening at the same time that people die for what they believe in ….
A read that had my mind going a mile a minute but the romance between Jack and Cleo was a good distraction 😉
I am a fan of Jennifer Raines and this book did not disappoint! It has everything you'd want in terms of emotions: happiness, sadness, worry, regret, love, anger, and the list goes on! She spends a good deal of time getting you emotionally invested in the lives of her characters to the point that you feel like they may be your next door neighbor. Then you just can't help but be sucked into the story and before you know it, a few hours have passed by and your done reading the story. This one is no exception!
Let's talk about this book cover first though....it's gorgeous! I love the setting and the colors. Book covers often times don't get enough credit. While I realize that they are rarely in the control of the author, they deserve some love too!
Cleo is doing everything she can to live her life without her father, who was "accidentally killed" while doing some research. For all intents and purposes, she's without her mother too but by choice after she moved on with her life and another man.
Jack is interested in the unsolved mystery of a Scandinavian man and soon learns the whereabouts of his daughter. He's interested in pairing up with her to see if they can put this mystery to bed....but Jake's also trying to see what, or who else, he can put to bed.
There are twists and turns, ups and downs and Cleo and Jack seek out answers about Cleo's dad. They learn more about each other and have an undeniable attraction that needs to be investigated as well.
This is an engaging romance suspense story filled with twists and turns, secrets, betrayal, danger and uncovering discoveries that have the ability to change their past and present. The characters are well written and I could help but feel invested in Cleo as she battles with all her self doubt and issues from her past.
Cleo’s life hasn’t been easy. With unanswered questions about her father, emotional trauma and more she decides when she gets a job opportunity to take the chance. For Cleo it means facing her past head on and even though she doesn’t want to do it she has to decide if she is going to let the fear continue to control her life.
Jack is a writer struggling with writers block. When he decides to use the story of Cleo’s dad as part of his next book he reaches out to her offering her the chance to work alongside him to find out the truth. As they work together the chemistry between them starts to grow but will Cleo be able to take a chance on romance?
Aside from the growing romance, there are people who don’t like what Cleo and Jack are starting to uncover which leads to Cleo being threatened. Jack wants to stop their search, however Cleo is determined she is on the right track and wants to carry on. Can they work together and finally unravel the secrets her family has been hiding? Or will the danger become too much for them to risk seeking the truth?
This was a great read and I loved how there is a mystery/crime element as well as a romance. It appealed to me from page one.
Finding Cleo by Jennifer Raines turned out to be my favourite book of hers, so far – and I have read and loved them all. This is quite an engrossing romantic suspense with tension, secrets, lies, betrayal, danger, chemistry, intriguing characters, family, dramatic developments, angst, emotion, uncovering the truth, and taking a chance on love. Ms. Raines has crafted a beautifully layered and romantic suspense story that blends tension and emotional depth with an intriguing mystery. The story is as much about healing and self-discovery as it is about uncovering long-buried secrets and taking a chance on love. Cleo’s journey is compelling from the very first page. Haunted by unanswered questions about her father and weighed-down by emotional scars, she’s a character I couldn’t help but root for. The mystery surrounding her family is woven seamlessly into the romance, which kept me hooked and turning pages while also tugging at my heart. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, Ms. Raines excels at creating characters who feel real - flawed, vulnerable, and endearingly human. The chemistry between Cleo and Jack is tender, and yet charged, and their emotional connection grows in a way that felt authentic and unrushed, allowing me plenty of time to invest in them and the outcome of their story. Can’t wait to see what Ms. Raines has in store for us next. Happy Reading…
In Finding Cleo the author gives us a girl's path to self discovery of who she really is with some romance and danger thrown in. I love suspense novels and I also love romance novels, well this story gives you both. A well written adventure that keeps the reader wanting more. Cleo is in hiding. Her mothers yearly expose about her father’s death was released earlier than usual, which has rocked her to the core. A child that lives in the shadows it’s easier to navigate the loss. As an interpreter she spends time with plenty of clients none of which knows who she actually is until Jack Spencer comes in to hire her. She recognizes him, he’s been following her, but why? He wants to write a fictional account of the events her dad was investigating when he was killed. That doesn’t sit well with her. However he reassures her in numerous ways that he has no intention of mentioning her father or the events that lead to his demise. She agrees but out of curiosity to help him navigate the country. What she didn’t expect was the chemistry that they have together. Leading Jack through a dangerous adventure can lead to 1 if not both of them getting hurt. Will they succeed in their tasks? Will they be able to ignore what’s right in front of them? If you reference what I said at the beginning, I think you have your answers. However how they come about those answers is up to you to dig in and find out for yourself. Happy reading!
Finding Cleo: A Sensual Romantic Suspense by Jennifer Raines. 5 of 5 Stars. This is a real page turner which kept me gripped throughout. Australian Cleo spent two years working as an interpreter and guide in Helsinki, protected from the lies and betrayals in her past. Jack Spencer has writers block and hopes to use the long unsolved assassination of a Scandinavian PM as the basis for a thriller. Jack hopes Cleo, the daughter of internationally awarded journalist Hugo Montford, who was accidentally killed whilst investigating the story, can help him. However, Cleo has difficulty hearing people talk about her father as although she had always adored him, after his death her mother told her that he never loved her.
As the pair spend time together they find it harder to deny their attraction to one another. As their relationship develops Cleo is threatened by people unhappy with the direction of Jack’s research. Although Jack is prepared to stop, Cleo needs answers about her father. The unique storyline has plenty of drama, intrigue, suspense, and romance that I was instantly hooked. The descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly to life, making me feel immersed in the story. Cleo and Jack are both realistic and relatable characters, whose chemistry came across in the narrative. The plot twist and turns kept me guessing as to how the book would end, resulting in me reading way past my bedtime!
Finding Cleo: A Sensual Romantic Suspense by Jennifer Raines
Cleo is an interpreter and works for a company as well as solo. Her father's death anniversary is coming up and she's aware of what's out there. So when she is called into her bosses office she's shocked to see someone she's seen about. She tells Jack this when he wants to come to her house: “You’re not the first client who’s asked to see an authentic Helsinki home. I’ve had families with small children, business people and the odd sleaze ball.”
Jack is in Finland and is looking for someone to help him out. When he sees Cleo he's intrigued by her. He hears the accent and it takes him home. Then he finds out who she belongs to and instantly wants her. He tells her this when they finally meet: “I won’t deny I’ve read his early articles on Palme. But I’m not telling the same story. Nor am I telling your father’s story. But you’re here—hiding in plain sight. I’m inviting you to join me in an adventure.”
Finding Cleo: A Sensual Romantic Suspense by Jennifer Raines. This is a great romantic suspense. Its the story of Cleo whose father has been killed in a terrible accident. He was an award winning investigative reporter who was chasing a story when he was killed. Cleo feels like she lives in her father's shadows and when her mom tells her that her father never loved her that really kills her. With her mom no longer in her life because she chose another man and left, Cleo feels really alone. Jack is an Australian author who knows who Cleo is and knows the story of her father so he hits her up and makes a deal to help her find out exactly what happened. What Jack didn't expect was finding Cleo fascinating. Both Jack and Cleo are not emotionally prepared for a relationship but that is usually when one comes along so they roll with it. When things get dangerous Jack want's to back off but Cleo wants answers more so they press on. Will they survive the same story that killed Cleo's father?
I have read so many good, new-to-me authors lately, and Jennifer Raines is now added to my “keeper" author list! Finding Cleo is not your typical romantic thriller. The chemistry between Cleo and Jack is undeniable, despite Cleo's misgivings regarding Jack's motives for hiring her as a translator and guide. The banter between the two is quick-witted and entertaining. While the story starts off a little slowly, the pace quickens and I found myself sucked into the drama and twists and turns. This book isn't your typical thriller, as it's more emotional, filled with sadness, mistrust, anger, secrets, and much more. The characters are amazingly realistic and believable, people I could see myself being friends with. This realism creates a connection between the reader and the characters that helps draw you in. I was hoping for more of an explosive, intense thriller, but was pleasantly surprised by this steady, more emotionally fueled story. I can't wait to read more books by Jennifer Raines.
Cleo Montford is a talented translator living in Helsinki, Finland when she contracts to work for a writer [Jack Spenser] researching his next novel. The subject matter is the 1986 assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, which coincidentally (or perhaps not so) was the subject of Cleo’s father’s journalistic expose prior to his death in an explosion. What follows is a story full of red flags and red herrings.
At various times, the male protagonist is attentive, bordering on cloying in his attention to Cleo. She is a strong independent woman who flinches at being touched, yet he continues to do so in an effort to get her to break down her barriers. The author does a great job of setting up fast patter between Cleo and Jack building to the inevitable consummation of their physical attraction to one another. However, the intended sub-plot of uncovering the mysteries surrounding the death of the PM and subsequently Cleo’s father, never really gets off the ground. As a cozy romance, I would give this novel 4-stars, but as a mystery, only 3.
Cleo has moved to Finland and works as an interpreter and tour guide per se. She moved to Finland to get a fresh start after her father’s death eight years prior. Her father was an investigative journalist and died while investigating. Her mother Diana writes an expose every year on the anniversary of his death. However this year it came out early and that was only after writer Jack Spencer visited her asking some questions. He has now come across Cleo in Finland and has gone to her workplace and asked for her specifically to be his interpreter. He’s writing a fiction book based on what her father was investigating. Cleo is still unsure about all of this but this may be her chance to find out more about herself and her father, as a lot of Jack’s contacts are the people her father was talking to. Can Cleo ever get over being Hugo Montfords daughter, supposedly unloved by her own father? Can Jack and Cleo work together and not fall for each other or was this a mistake from the beginning? Cleo is worried she will fall for another man who was only after information on her father.
Cleo, just like every other little girl out there, adored her father. He was off writing an investigative piece on an assassinated Scandinavian PM in Helsinki when he was "accidentally" killed. Her mother told her that her father never really loved her and it makes her doubt everything. She is finally ready to take back her life and leave the past behind her. Jack is trying to write a thriller but encounters writers block. He comes across the long forgotten story Cleo's father was working on and decides it will be the basis for his yet to be titled thriller. It is just his luck that he finds Cleo in Helsinki and talks her into joining him in closing this long cold case. Their close proximity and long hours spent together start to become more as time goes on. Soon they start to get threats in relation to the direction of their research. Jack wants to stop looking and Cleo feels there is more to uncover about her father. Will they come to a compromise or will Cleo let her past destroy her?
This is an author that I have enjoyed reading this author’s books from the first one I picked up. I enjoyed this author’s creative characters and their use of details. Their books are engaging and well written. This book is no different. This is a story about facing the past or do you keep hiding from it. Jack is an author that wants to hire Cleo for research about a story her father was writing when he died. What they didn’t expect was to find romance in this deal. What will happen when Jack’s research starts to threaten Cleo? Will Cleo be able to move past the past and set herself free? This is a story that you don’t want to miss. The characters are engaging, connectable and well developed. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout which just added to their story. This is a suspenseful romance story that is fast paced and hard to put down. I look forward to seeing what is next for this author. I highly recommend this book.
Cleo Montford fled to Helsinki to escape the tragic death of her journalist father and the subsequent betrayal from her mother telling her that her father never loved her anyway. She has worked hard the last two years to put that all behind her and succeeded pretty well – that is, until fellow Australian Jack Spencer comes walking into her life and presents her with a job offer that might allow her to finally discover the truth about her fathers death. Temptation wins out, so Cleo & Jack embark on a journey of discovery of long-kept secrets and lies – and of a mutual attraction that both try to fight against. When their research results in threats and attacks, will Jack and Cleo push to continue or let the secrets of the past remain hidden?
Twists, turns, danger, romance and intrigue helped keep me invested in Jack & Cleo’s story from first to last page – a great, page- turning read!
I love a story where the characters flaws are seen and understood by one another without the need to be spelled out. That they accept one another, scars and all; in both the physical and emotional sense of the word. The death of Cleo’s father has caused her not only grief but also confusion. She is confused and concerned regarding not what happened with her father and his mysterious death, but what she meant to him. Jack has also had his share of death and regrets of his past but now he is trying to write a book, not necessarily about Cleo’s father, but not completely not about him either. There is the obvious pull between Jack and Cleo, there is also the emotional pull of Cleo to find out more about her dad in ways that she hasn’t entirely thought of before. The mysterious parts of this book are as intriguing as the flirtation and romance. A well balanced book that checks so many boxes. A great read
I felt a connection to Cleo from almost the beginning, but wasn't sure why. Then as I learned about her story particularly the relationship with her Mom and her Dad who she lost eight years earlier I saw some parallels with my life. That made me like her and it brought out my protective side.
Jack is an author who finds himself in Helsinki trying to work out the details for his next book. He needs a translator to assist him while there.
We get love, drama and danger in this book which was all well written and kept me engaged until the end. I have had the pleasure of reading Ms. Raines in the past and will continue to read her books in the future. I haven't regretted reading a book by her once and look forward to that streak continuing.
I have read several books by this author, and this book is a prime example of why I keep coming back for more. I have yet to meet a book by them that I didn’t absolutely fall head over heels in love with. The sheer number of emotions that I felt while devouring this story is astounding. The cover is beautiful and pulled me in before I even thought to read the synopsis. Once I did, I knew there was no going back. Cleo has this instant relatable quality about her, and Jack is a fantastic character as well. Their chemistry feels pretty natural instead of that forced, awkward relationship that sometimes shows up. The author did amazingly well with both character development and world building. This was really an engaging blend of romance and intrigue that kept me turning pages far into the night.
This book is an intriguing story that places the characters right at the centre. From the moment I started reading this book, I found myself easily being pulled into the story. The characters are what initially drew me in but the overall story helped to keep my attention from start to finish. Jack and Cleo are such interesting characters. Cleo in particular ha so much going on that it adds an extra layer to the story being told. I thought the author did a great job of developing the story, building it slowly across each page. The fact that it was based around true events, while remaining a fictional story, made it even more interesting to read. I thought this was a great book and is one that I found myself thoroughly enjoying from start to finish.
4 Stars Finding Cleo: A Sensual Romantic Suspense By Jennifer Raines
Finding Cleo is a Romantic Senual Suspense that will definitely have you turning the pages till the end. I’ve read other books by this author and this may be my favorite yet. The characters are relatable, fully developed, complex and bring the story to life. What will happen when an author wants to hire Cleo for research on a project her later father was working on? These two wasn’t looking for romance but they sure found it. What will happen when his research puts her in danger? Will they find the truth and set it free or leave it in the past? This is a great story and I highly recommend reading to find out what happens next. I’m looking forward to reading more from this Author.
This book is a little different than the ones I am used to reading. I love mysteries especially the cozy ones. This book is a mystery but it is also about hiding from the past. Cleo's father was an International Reporter and he died while researching a story. Cleo hides from her past and anything having to do with her father. Cleo has not had a lot to do with her Mother since she has found another man and started a new family in Texas.
Jack is an author who wants to use research from her Dad's story to write his fictional thriller. Will they be able to work together and free Cleo from her past or will they both regret the partnership.
Check out the story. I think you will enjoy it too.
This was a wonderful read. Cleo Montford has been living in Helsinki for the last hew years. You could possibly say she was running from her past. After losing her Dad when she was a teenager and dealing with Diana’s (her mom) fallout from his accident. Trusting people is just not want she can afford in her life. But then come Jack Spencer, A writer who is somewhat intrigued with her last father’s journalistic approach that might be able to assist in his newest novel he is writing. But the more Cleo and Jack are together, and the more Jack’s touching tendencies wear Cleo down. The more she starts to rethink some of the things in her life were not what she thought. It also does not help that Jack wants to push Cleo to see the truth from lies about her past she is clinging to.
I was completely hooked by Finding Cleo: A Sensual Romantic Suspense—it’s such a compelling blend of emotional depth, sizzling chemistry, and international intrigue. Cleo’s journey back into her painful past felt raw and real, and I loved watching her slowly reclaim her confidence and strength. The Helsinki setting added a cool, atmospheric vibe, and the mystery surrounding her father’s investigation kept the suspense simmering the whole time. Jack was the perfect match for her—smart, persistent, and genuinely caring—and their connection felt both tender and seriously steamy. The twists, the tension, and the heartfelt growth made this a super satisfying read from start to finish. Definitely a strong four-star romance with just the right edge of danger!
Finding Cleo is a romantic suspense....and there's plenty of both to go around in this book! In this book we meet Cleo, who is a journalist...just like her father that's deceased. Her father was killed while doing an investigation and while she has her mother, this is a woman who has not been a motherly figure after losing her dad. We also have Jack, who is a writer here struggling with writing. Jack comes across Cleo's dad's story and wants to write about it and reaches out to Cleo about it. While sparks fly between the both of them, there's also plenty of drama and suspense flying as well. And what the find out has the potential to be deadly. Such a good book! The suspense and mystery as well as the romance made this a well rounded read!!
Cleo moved away from home and is essentially hiding out. Cleo spends a lot of time with clients - most of which have no clue who she really is. That's all working out well for her until Jack Spencer comes to town. She recognizes him instantly as the man who's been following her, but why? As a writer, he wants to depict a fictional account of events that were being investigated by her dad. Immediately on guard, she bristles. After a bit of convincing that he has no intention of mentioning her father's name she reluctantly agrees. Throughout the story there is suspense and romance. It was a perfect combination of the two that kept me wanting to read more. Fantastic job by the author and can't wait to read more of their story!
I am a huge fan of Jennifer Raines and have loved everything I've read by her. Finding Cleo is one of my favorites by this author to date. The characters are so dynamic, they have real-life problems, and their personalities are so multifaceted. There is so much to learn about our two main characters as they learn to interact with one another. This book had everything I love in a great book! Suspense, thrills, romance, and mysteries to be unfolded. Bonus: It takes place in a foreign country, so the reader gets to feel like they have traveled to other places around the world. I cannot wait to read more books by this author; she has such a way with creating her magnificent stories that the reader can't help but be drawn into the story from beginning to end. @Brandy Rymer 03/2026
This is the first time I have read anything by Ms Raines. Just by the first few chapters I am intrigued about Cleo and Jack. Jack Spencer is an author who is trying to get out of his writer’s block to write his next novel. So he decided to travel to Finland, Helsinki and try connect with Cleo Montford. She is the daughter of Hugo Montford, an journalist, who was killed when trying to write a story. She was hired by Jack Spencer has an interpreter so that he can get more information for his upcoming story that he is trying to write. I will say that there is some kind of love or lust happening between Cleo and Jack. I don’t want to give away to much, so if you want to know what really happens between Cleo and Jack you have to read the book!!!
Cleo’s father has passed, and her grieving mother is beyond herself with denial and grief, lashing out at Cleo.
Cleo’s grief and the betrayal and lies she has heard have her shutting out the world and trusting no one. When you read her story, you won’t blame her.
Jacks is an author and is interested in following Cleo’s father’s stories to gather inspiration to write his next thriller.
Jack, on the other hand, I feel fell at first sight and wants to help Cleo heal and find the truth within herself.
This story is full of detail, suspense, chemistry, and a beautiful slow-burn romance that is just perfect in which is something Raines brings every time!
