I’m biased because I co-wrote this book… but I’m immensely proud of it and think that all fans of drag, photography, and creativity will find something to love about it. I hope you enjoy reading about the busiest year of our lives as much as we enjoyed living it.
Lydia B Kollins and Ava Grace have done it again. Any time they come together to create art it is a masterpiece, and this book wrapped all of that together beautifully.
This book gives a glimpse of Lydia’s creative process behind her looks on Rupaul’s Drag Race season 17 and All Stars 10. Lydia is a creative force to be reckoned with, with her fresh, perfectly unpolished take on drag on the world stage. She is a fan favorite for a reason, and this book truly displays her passion behind her work.
Throughout the book, Ava Grace gave her perspective on photography through her self-taught lens. Ava Grace is so creative and cares so deeply about capturing queer joy and creating queer art. There is a reason these two work so well together, and this book shows their relationship perfectly.
Regardless of if you’re a Drag Race fan, this book should be read by another who loves queer art, spreads queer joy, and all lesbians.
I don’t usually like to spend money on expensive books, but this one was completely worth it. The photos are absolutely gorgeous and the little behind-the-scenes snippets Lydia and Ava shared of the creation process and their collaboration were really precious and fun. Could the writing have used a little more editing from a seasoned literary eye? Probably, but I loved how raw and personal it was. You can tell they actually wrote this themselves to share their POV (unlike some other celebrity memoirs *cough cough*) so I don’t mind letting my literary critic eye take the back seat here.
If you’re a Lydia fan like me, I obviously 100% recommend getting the book. But even if you just enjoy beautiful photography and are interested in creative drag in any way, you will probably like this a lot^^
I love these queens. The most stunning photography book I now own. I hope to always remember how I felt watching this queen on television, supporting her drag show appearances and admiring and adoring her deviously brilliant mind.
I love this book and I love these queens. I want my own Ava Grace connection.
if you're a fan of lydia, drag, photography, or fashion, this is the book for you. not only is it beautifully laid out and aesthetically pleasing to look at, but it includes little tidbits for every shoot from both ava and lydia discussing their creative processes. so stunning, so sentimental (in a good way), so sickening. get her for your coffee table!
getting to see these photos that i’ve loved over the past year in print is such a cool experience. the stories behind each individual shoot were so special to read about and i couldn’t be happier for ava and lydia, this was so well thought out and executed. physical media forever :)
10/10 no notes - but in all seriousness please support and read this book! Whether you’re a drag race fan, a photographer, or simply someone who appreciates art this is perfect! You can tell while reading how much care and joy was put into this project by these two. It does not go unnoticed!
Never been so excited to read something. It was perfect. Ava’s photography was beautiful (as always) and the stories by Lydia and Ava were so interesting and heart felt. Loved it so much. Couldn’t recommend more.
This was a gorgeous book. Each picture tells a vivid story. Lydia and Ava each spill the tea, giving us glimpses behind the scenes. I felt honored to get a look at their lives and their art this way. I find myself paging through the book often. I'd recommend it to anyone.
