A suspicious death is one thing. A stolen body is something else…
On a flight home from her bachelorette party in Adelaide, Constable Jenny Williams befriends a young woman. They have a lot in common, especially their pending nuptials.
The conversation is flowing, the mood optimistic—Until the young woman begins to vomit, convulse and dies in Jenny’s arms.
The sudden manner of death leaves Jenny asking questions and desperate to follow up on the case—but her sergeant insists she’s just in shock. When the ambulance transferring the woman’s remains from the airport is rammed from the road and the body is stolen, the choice is taken from their hands.
The bold move sparks an investigation which reveals this poor woman may have succumbed to a poison or contaminate—one which could claim more victims.
Now the race is on to find those responsible, before anyone else dies…

A fabulous conclusion to the series, though bittersweet as this marks the end of Jenny’s adventures in Coober Pedy—although it does leave one big question going forward: what’s going to happen to Nick? Jenny’s life is never straightforward, and she can’t even attend her own bachelorette party (or hen party, as we’d call it in the UK) without a body turning up. But is it natural causes, or is it murder? Despite the upcoming wedding, something doesn’t seem quite right, and Jenny just can’t leave it alone. She won’t stop until she finds the answers. This is a great series that takes you on a journey full of mystery and intrigue, all set in a really fascinating location, I would definitely recommend these books. I’m really looking forward to Fiona’s new series, which takes Jenny to Adelaide—perhaps we’ll finally get some answers to some of the more personal aspects of her life.
A bittersweet but wonderful finale to Jenny Williams’ time in Coober Pedy. Even with her wedding approaching, Jenny can’t ignore one last mystery when a sudden death leaves more questions than answers. Filled with suspense, friendship, romance, and the loyal Coober Pedy gang, this story had me completely hooked and emotional right to the end.
Fiona gave Jenny and the team the perfect send-off, while still leaving me wondering what the future holds for Jenny and Nick. I’ll truly miss these characters and this incredible series, but I can’t wait to follow Jenny’s next adventure.
A dive into unravelling the threads of murder and motives.
This was another exciting story in the Opal Fields series with plenty of intrigue and action. A sudden death on Jenny's flight from Adelaide to Coober Pedy soon becomes a suspected murder according to her infamous gut feeling. Subsequent events prove her right, but intricate twists and turns in the investigation lead to multiple suspects and disturbing motives. The usual gang of side characters play important roles in the story and the introduction of a detective from Adelaide threatens to sideline Jenny on the investigation but that doesn't deter her at all. Although the finale of this series was emotionally satisfying, it felt rushed and left me with more questions than answers after the abrupt end. No doubt the new series featuring Jenny will explain many things but I feel that an update of some points would have been nice at the end of this book.
With her big day fast approaching Jenny is now heading beach from her hen trip but a fellow passenger dies and well the next case has arrived.
This is a bit different as to start with as there's no evidence there has been a murder but when the body is stolen on route to the morgue then it's definitely suspicious , and Jenny's not gonna let it go. But as the case develops the story develops and just gets better and better thoughts of the big day are put to one side her future and everything it's all about justice and Jenny is not going to let it not be serve. Well you want action so that's a excellent but of news
Like all this series this is another great addition and I have loved everyone of them. There is great storytelling a trademark of all Fiona's books that I've read and wonderful characters definitely 5 stars.
Another exciting story about Jenny Williams and the "gang" from Coober Pedy. I loved this story. It was full of mystery, suspense, murder, romance, friends and solving murder mysteries.
Once again Jenny Williams is joined by forensic scientist Penny to help with a sudden death.
Jenny was on the plane from Adelaide traveling back to Coober Pedy, when the woman died in front of her. The body was transferred to an ambulance but was stolen before they could do an autopsy.
Was she murdered? Jenny thinks so and her gut is never wrong so she sets out to prove it.
The final instalment in the Opal Fields series, Jenny is a week away form her wedding to Nick but on her flight home from her hens party in Adelaide a young women dies on the flight. This is complicated when the ambulance carrying the body is run off the road and the body is stollen. Forensic tech Penny discovered the woman died from radiation poisoning, so the race is on not only to find the body, but source of the radiation. Will Jenny clear the case in time for her wedding to go ahead? Knowing this is the last book in the series as a fan I was conjuring all sorts of endings and nervously awaited the final chapter. No spoilers here.
Well what a finale! I am not going to spoil it for anyone by saying too much.
However, I am going to say that this book was a by the seat of my pants with baited breath read, knowing it was the last one unsure of how it would end (who would survive!)
My final word is that it was a perfect wrap to a great series and if you haven’t read the series would recommend reading the series from the beginning to avoid any spoilers to previous books. I will miss Jenny and the team but what a send off.
Radiation sickness, a stolen body, missing equipment, another body turns up. Jenny is hard at work with the other constables from Coober Peddy to try and solve these mysteries before more people are contaminated with radiation while trying to prepare for her wedding. A detective Deaken comes to oversee the investigation due to the radiation exposure. Jenny’s instincts are spot on. She has some clashes with Detective Deaken, but Detective Deaken begins to admire Jenny’s abilities. Great story.
A death on a plane and a daring theft of the body from the ambulance van - Constable Jenny Williams (murder magnet), fresh from her bachelorette party, is once again at the centre of a gripping mystery. As a fan of the author's work, I am thoroughly enjoying the intricate plot and exceptional storytelling. This may be the concluding part of the opal fields series, but it was a superb ending.
The end to a well written series with a good storyline and an outstanding cast of realistic characters. This crime mystery has several victims, plenty of suspense, lots of suspects, and even some romance. A page turning read that I highly recommend and really enjoyed. Great series with an excellent main character in Jenny Williams.
Another great installation in the Opal series by Fiona Tarr. Fast paced from beginning to end with so many questions, starting with a young woman dying on the plane that Constable Jenny Cooper and Forensic friend Penny were on after Jenny's bachelorette party in Adelaide, heading back to Coober Pedy.
Another good update on this series. Jenny is ac strong character, works well under pressure and thinks creatively. I am sorry this is the final book in the Opal Fields series. I've enjoyed the characters and setting. I hope some of v the characters will follow Jenny in her next adventure. The mystery kept me guessing, with clues and suspects among the way.
