Entertaining

So far, I'm loving this alien series. On to book 3 when it comes out through Kindle unlimited.
Each book makes me want more.

As bad as things can be and are becoming for everyone there is still I should have hope or at least everyone that has been witnessing from the very beginning.
Honestly I'm hoping that the aliens that started this whole fiasco gets their own world lit up beyond recognition.

A fungal infection that may just want you for dinner. More of the same action, only more unrelenting. A worthy sequel to Book 1 and now I'm eagerly awaiting Mr Clausen to finish writing and publishing Book 3 later next month.

This story involves multiple perspectives and weaves together to become a strong sequel to Invaders 1. I am not sure if we will get an ‘on the ship’ scene where the humans get more information from the aliens. I enjoy those scenes. So far the violence for me, a long gore hound, is hovering around a 3 [see below]. It is brutal but expected in a story with mutants.

Don't pick this up if you are looking for lovely prose or complex characters. But sometimes I just need a good monster book!

Characters:

We got a much more even spread of characters throughout this book, with Tim, Veronica, Molly, Felix, and Helena having a lot of different viewpoints. I believe the characters were more fleshed out in this book too, showing more of their personalities and some backstories. It was interesting to see how everybody had such a different view on the "outbreak" and how everybody acted so differently. I do wish we heard more from Felix (but I believe that he is the main character of book 3).

Storyline:

This one started where the last one finished, and it starts with a bang...and never really lets up until the last few pages. We have Tim and Helena trying to make it home to Buddy, Veronica and Molly trying to survive on a remote island, Felix trying not to be detained, and the police trying to work out how to fight to infection. Veronica is the main focus point of this book, and the amount she has to fight in order to just barely survive is terrifying, the sense of unease carries all the way throughout. The way she has to kill so many people she knows whilst fighting multiple wounds is gripping. My favourite part of the story though was towards the end when Helena had a 1-on-1 fight with one of the aliens, it was so scary to read, I was sure that she was going to lose. Then Buddy was hurt, Tim was almost dead - I couldn't put it down.

Pacing/writing:

I feel the pacing was much better in this one compared to the last, coherent from start to finish. I do still feel the writing can sometimes be a little confusing with mistakes, wrong names, and a few typos - but it is translated from another language so it may be a reason behind it.

Ending:

I much preferred the ending of this instalment to book 1, I feel there was a lot more emotion, more at stake, and even less of a chance of survival. Veronica's last chapter was heartbreaking to say the least and added a nice touch.

Emotional impact:

SO MUCH BETTER. I was tense from the start, felt worried about the characters, the descriptions were terrifying at times, and I was teary a few times.

I hope the rest of the series improves like this one.

In 'Invaders 2: An Alien Invasion Thriller,' author Nick Clausen expands on the horror that struck in Book 1. This invasion did not come with hundreds of alien ships descending on the planet, and neither did it begin with dropping some type of nuclear weapons on an unsuspecting population. No, this is "some kind of virus."
Now that we know the truth about COVID, it will be even harder to convince people to isolate themselves. COVID was the epitome of the boy (Fauci) who cried wolf. So, no one believes the horror that has descended on our planet. That is, until they witness it with their own eyes. The transformation can not be ignored.
This is a great follow-up to Book 1. Don't miss it. -Mr.Bill

Audiobook: I was as entertained by this book as much as the first one. Although there were several characters' stories taking place at the same time, the chapter heading listed which character's story was being addressed at that point in the book. I thought this format helped the story to be fast moving and action filled and kept my attention focused on the tale. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I enjoyed Spencer Dillehay's narration as his performance was expressive and riveting. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.

A very good follow up

Considering I don’t like the alien genre I’ve done pretty well to read this second book in the Invaders series in record time!
Just like the first it’s fast paced, exciting, really rather intriguing and just makes me want to start the third instalment right now!!

I just finished Dead Meat...awesome series btw...and this one is shaping up to be the same. I luv Tim. He's not perfect but what hero is??? Besides, an alien invasion that infects through a spore makes for a great series! Read it to find out more...I give no spoilers!!

Finished the second book in a 2 days. I'm disappointed to find out that I won't be able to finish last book until the end of May.

This book starts linking the characters in the book together. And we're are in the beginning stages to finding out the DNA of the alien species and what is the end game to all of this.

I was not going to write a review because this is Nick Clausen’s best series yet and it speaks for itself, but …

Wow I cannot believe Veronica died! But it felt ‘right’ in the context of the story, and I’m appreciative of Clausen explaining his thoughts on the character.

Also I’m calling it - knowing Clausen’s style, I don’t think it’s aliens even though it’s in the title and blurb.

Great book

It's an ongoing fight against the new aliens. Lots of action, suspense and adventure. I read this book really fast, couldn't put it down. Still with a great cast of characters. I recommend reading this to all that love fiction.

Great thriller!

Invaders 2 is full of twists and turns, drama and danger. The male protagonist is likable and realistic, I rooting for him and his daughter, all the way! Now, I must hurry to get book 3. I highly recommend this alien invasion thriller, enjoy!
